Another mystery solved. It was a simple case, all the clues pointed straight at the culprit and there was nothing he could do about it, besides give up the apple that he stole of his brother. His plan was quite full proof, for all his scheming and diabolical plans worked, that was until Detective Wystan was put on the case.
Wystan stopped walking and gave a loud snort, who was he kidding? The cases seem to get more simple and pathetic; the young foal could have figured out that his brother had taken his apple if he even bothered to look under his brother’s wings. The Angeni let out an exasperated puff of air, what he need was a mystery that really made him think and tested his observational skills.
He shook himself from his musings and looked around the area he had found himself standing in; it was a meadow filled with white flowers with a yellow stigma. In a way they reminded him the flowers that were woven into his adopted aunt’s mane, Narcissuses he believed they were called, or in its more recognized name, daffodils. In the middle of the meadow a lone oak tree cast its shadow over a small part of the earth, at its base a bed of moss grew and tiny white and blue flowers grew. A warm breeze blew through the sea of flowers making them sway to the left and bring the rich scent of the flowers to the soquili’s nose. The smell of the flowers always seemed to calm him and bring him back to the times when he was with his aunt asking her a constant stream of questions. He could not help but smile at the memories that popped into his head; once in a while he would feel nostalgia for the time he was a young foal.
Above the red and gold winged stallion, the sun shone brightly warming the earth below. Slowly he made his way to the shade of the tree to further ponder the lack of any good cases. He was sure there was one that was worthy of his skill, he just did not know where to look.

It was the middle of a beautiful day, the sun was shining and the animals in the forest around her were buzzing with happy life. And yet, she was bone tired, you would be two if you had traveled as long and hard as she had. She had a long healing cut on her back right leg from a mountain lion, and a ton of scraps from simply tripping over herself and falling on her butt. She tried to sleep at night, but usually couldn't feel safe long enough to stay still for more then a few hours and she'd be on the move again. So, she'd turned to sleeping a lot during the day
She hoped these was a wise move, but she hadn't exactly learned much on her journey. And she still had little idea about what it would take to prove herself to others. To prove she wasn't just some wimpy mare with a cute face, however things went from here, she knew she needed some sleep first.
So, she'd found herself a lovely little meadow, dotted with beautiful flowers covering the ground. There was a lovely oak tree in the center, which perfectly shaded whoever were to stray underneath it. She trotted out into the meadow, and now notice that she wasn't alone. Underneath the huge oak was a lovely stallion, and she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Sure, she'd heard stories about the beautifully winged Angeni Soquili, but she never thought she'd actually meet one, especially not with her luck.
She stared at him for a bit, with her one blue eye, and wondered if he'd be happy to chat with her, or just think she was boring. She usually got along with other fairly well, expect for lately. With a little hope left in her heart, she trotted up to the stallion and smiled up at him.
"My you look lovely out here. And you seriously look like you're pondering something tough." She said, noticing his curious expression. She thought of several different scenarios that could be bother the stallion, but dismissed many of them without going into detail. "I'm Jouko by the way, just so you're not wondering what my name is or anything." She smiled, and then yawned. She'd forgotten just how tired she was.

Everything around the grey bodied stallion was quiet, except for the constant whistling of the wind through the tall grass with the flowers mixed into them and the singing of the birds high in the sky. Wystan watched from the corner of his icy blue eyes, as a mare walked into the clearing, she noticed him soon enough, standing under the old oak. As she trotted up to him, Wystan noticed the scratches and patches of dirt on her body. His quick mind raced to figure out the most probable reason why she was so; two educated guesses popped into his mind. One, the mare coming towards him was a klutz; she was constantly falling and hurting herself. Two, the mare had found herself in a skirmish and was not able to get out of it unscathed.
The black and white mare smiled at him with her one blue eye doing the same, since the other eye was covered with a red and silver headband that contained a black star on the metal part of the band. The Angeni paused, he had never before been called lovely, it was a nice change from what a few select others called him, “Thank you, and I would have to say the same about you Miss,” he bowed his head in greeting to the white maned mare. “I was; it was about the case that I just solved, but then I noticed you and started to make educated guesses to how you got all those scratches and dirt patches on your body. Also, the star on your head band, I was wondering if I held a special meaning to you.” The mare had not asked for the elaborate description of what he was thinking about, but he thought it best just to say it, he wanted her to answer his questions, so he thought it would be best to answer hers fully. Perhaps she was the new mystery that he had to solve?
“It’s very nice to meet you Jouko, I’m Wystan,” he paused when he noticed her yawn, “Long travels?” What could have made this mare so tired? Wystan knew that he held inside of him the patience to discover the reason why himself. The poor unexpecting mare would not be able to get rid of him easily, not until the case was solved, anyways.

Wow, Jouko had made one little observation, and hadn't really expected him to be so open about it! She blinked, a bit shocked at first, had she really just met a complete stranger? She looked at him a bit skeptically, she'd never met anyone like him before looks and breed wise, and now she was realizing she'd never met anyone like him period. She'd never met someone so dedicated to solving a mystery. She could tell she was really going to get along with this guy, maybe she could play around with him for a while. Then again, it would be nice to just talk to someone openly and relax.
"Well lovely, you certainly have a lot of questions for someone you've just met. But, you see, I'm a lot like you, I like to figure other out with simple questions, so, before I say anything else, why don't we start this out simple?" Jouko wasn't going to explain everything about herself without learning a little bit about him as well. "My names Jouko, and as for my headband, I've always had it. It's the one mystery that even I can't figure out."
Jouko loved to solve mysteries, and the one that always stumped her, was where she'd come from. The only link she had to her past, were the odd clothes that she wore. She couldn't part with any of them, even though she always tripped over the long scarf and her headband sometimes fell to cover her vision. "What your name then?"

Well, he did not scare her away with his over elaborate answer, which was a plus. Wystan listened to what the mare with the scarf and headband said, she like to solve mysteries too? He could not help but smile at that little piece of information; he finally found a kindred spirit. “I’m Wystan, it is very nice to meet you Jouko, and that is a very lovely name, does it have a meaning?” He paused for a second as he pondered over her words about not knowing the past of the headband, “Then, do you not know where you have come from?”
It would be strange not to know where one had come from, but perhaps she suffers from amnesia from her childhood and cannot place where she came from or the meaning behind the star on the band or the intricate scarf around her neck. Wystan wondered if he should offer to help her solve the mystery of her past, but then he was not sure if she really wanted to solve it and have a complete stranger help her with a case that is very dear to her.
“I know that this is sudden, but would you like some help in figuring out the meaning of your headband? If not, there are always other mysteries to solve, and it would be great to have a partner helping with the cases,” Wystan knew what he was asking was sudden; he just wanted the mare to stay and he could try to figure her out; solve the mystery behind Jouko. And, she did say she likes solving mysteries.

Jouko pondered her own name for a moment, where had her name even come from? She knew it had to have some meaning, but as far bask as she could remember she was alone with just a name, and a few hints to some mysterious past. She had always assumed she must have belonged to some tribe, and through some tragic accident became separated from them, and in the process lost some memories. Or maybe there weren't any to remember? "I assume it means something, I just don't know what." She didn't know what names meant wherever they came from in her past. "And...unfortunately I am the biggest mystery to myself. No, I have no idea where I come from. I just....exist."
And what a random existence she had, wandering around solving mysteries when she couldn't even figure out her own past. She never really thought much about it until she met this stranger, she was always okay with not knowing where she came from. Sure, it was kinda sad to think that she had parents out there somewhere that missed her, and probably wondered what had happened to their little filly. Did she have a brother or sister? She'd never know, but did it bother her enough now that she really couldn't wait to figure it out naturally on her own?
"I'm not sure...it might be nice to get to know you a little better, before I just...go out and solve the 'me' mystery with you. Maybe we could take on something easier first? It won't be any easy task, figuring out where I come from." She trusted him enough sure, but that was mostly because of his looks, and he was an Angeni after all. They weren't supposed to be mean. Still, she knew better then to trust anyone without spending some good quality time with them.

“Fascinating,” Wystan pounded the idea of not knowing your past and how that lack of knowledge could form a Soquili into who they are today. The mare in front of him kept on becoming more and more interesting to the winged stallion, since if she did not know her own self completely, then Wystan could spend time trying to solver her inner mystery, along with the mysteries around the two of them. That is, if she let him. Jouko seemed to be friendly, but also weary of him; it was like she was excepting something bad to happen. This observation made the Soquili even more curious and angry, because if his deductions were correct, then the mare that was standing in front of him, the one covered in dirt and scratches, has had trouble with other Soquili and hardships that Wystan could only imagine.
She was right, he was a complete stranger, and even though he would not cause her any harm, she did not know that. She was being wise. “You are completely right; I apologize for getting a head of myself. It’s just when I discover that there is a mystery at hand, I get excited and cannot wait to find clues to solve it…” He gave her a small sheepish grin and then continued on after a slight pause, “you may ask me any question you would like and I will answer truthfully. I give you my detective word.” It was a first, he never took anything slow, he always jumped in and hit the ground running, but with Jouko, he knew that he had to be different; perhaps she could teach him a new thing or two about not being so brash.
His eyes widened, he had just thought of a mystery that was in the area, but he would not mention it to the mare until she felt comfortable enough around him. It would be an easy case, and it would be fascinating to have a partner help decipher the clues, for two heads are always better than one.
