Pilot had somehow managed to destroy or use every wire and cog that Ophelia had gotten him and so they where both off to the hardware store for supplies. As they walked Pilot was listing a long list of things he’d like to get and Ophelia was mentally crossing off half the items. It was with an exasperated look on her face and an over excited toddler that they arrived at the shop, door sliding open with a hiss and letting in a burst of the cool midday air.

Inside of the shop, a toddler and a child were already browsing around by themselves as if it were totally normal for small children to do this. The elder was a dark furred boy who looked like a weird combination of an owl and a bear, with small spectacles on his beak and a necklace of lightbulbs around his neck. On his shoulders, peaking into a completely different box, was a small girl with long brown hair, and a ton of scuff, dirt and oil stains all over her clothes. The weirdest thing about them was how intent on their own boxes of cogs and wires they seemed, and how oblivious they were to each other. Sadly, however, the girl was about to have her attention grabbed, as the box she was in featured the items at the top of Pilot's list.

The second they were inside Pilot insisted that he be put down so that they could split up and get all the items quicker. Giving him an amused look at him for his bossiness Ophelia obliged and set him down, heading towards the back of the store for one of the items near the bottom of the list. Deciding to start at the top of his list he headed towards where he thought the item would be. When he got there he stopped and blinked at the odd site the two children made before clearing his throat and asking, “Excuse me is that the box containing 37 strand standard copper wire and rack and pinion cogs?”.

"Yes." Patton replied, searching through it before turning her attention towards Pilot more fully. "Did you...need them?" she asked, blinking at the boy.

“Yes. Could you please pass me down 5 meters of the wire and tell me what materials and sizes they have for the cogs. Oh and by the way I’m Pilot.” He asked politely; remember at the last moment to introduce himself. He had been staring at the grease and dirt and pondering how despite the fact that he was often around messy substances they never got on him, though his shirts kept tearing.

"Certainly." The girl replied, reaching into the box to pull him out the exact number he'd asked for and began to look over the cogs. It didn't take her more than a moment to recite the amounts he wanted to know off and pass him down the wire he'd requested. "I'm Patton. Good to meet you."

Pilot listened intently to the information the girl was rattling off, frowning slightly as he mentally crossed out ones that would and would not be suitable. “Thank you, could you please pass down the steel 7mm tooth, tooth count 17, pinion and its matching rack?” He asked politely, accepting the length of wire he’d asked for, wrapping it around his shoulder for easier carrying.

"Certainly." Patton replied, picking out the specified items to pass down. Cornelius shook his head. "You two are getting too technobabbly for ME now. I need to set you down, Pats." he said, putting the girl on the floor in front of Pilot. "I gotta go find out if Phineas located those tubes I wanted anyway."
The brunette adjusted her goggles again and shook her head. "What is it you're planning on making with these?"

“Thank you.” Pilot replied giving a small smile. When the owl-bear child spoke up Pilot tilted his head to the side, giving him a questioning look – they where only talking basic parameters of supplies.
“I’m not entirely sure, the materials and instructions came to me in a dream but not the final product.” He answered with a vague smile, eyes slightly glazed as he thought about the dream in question.

"Ah. I have not had many dreams of that manner." Patton replied with a shrug, "Most of mine feature electric sheep."
The girl adjusted her goggles once more, almost nervous but more concerned with parts. "I'm in the process of working on an invention for a competition. My brothers and I are making a drink machine of sorts."

Pilot focused back in on the conversation once more, pushing the perplexing dream to the back of his mind. “Neither have I, I was quite surprised but I just knew I had to make whatever it is.” He answered, giving a small smile at the idea of counting electric sheep to sleep.
When the girl adjusted her goggles again Pilot glanced at them, internally thinking they looked cool and where probably very practical – he’d nearly gotten sparks in his eyes more times then he cared to count. “Oh? I hadn’t heard of any completion, but that sounds fun. Do you want any help acquiring the materials?” He asked, she’d helped him by passing him down what he asked so it was only fair he helped her.

"Yes, they're holding parts in all of the cities and then the winners from each get to go to a party in Durem. It's quite exciting." Patton agreed, smiling a little.
"Hm? Oh, certainly. Do you have any idea where the-" she listed off some complicated term from her mental list, "might be?"

“Hmmm, I’ll make sure to keep track of it to see how you do.” Pilot replied with a friendly smile. When she had given him the specifics of what she was looking for he frowned, he thought he’d seen some over by the screwdrivers but he couldn’t be sure. “I think I know where that is, but I’m not a hundred percent sure.” He said as he started walking towards where he thought they would be.

"Thanks." Patton said, and actually sounded shy for a moment before nodding curtly. "Don't worry, I will accept 76% and above in correctness." she said, following him over.
Luckily, the objects in question WERE right by where he thought. "Oh good."

Pilot just gave a curt nod in reply and continued to lead them to their destination. When it turned out that he was correct he gave a small pleased smile before turning to watch Patton curiously. He never really hung out with other toddlers so he wasn’t sure what to do now. “Is there anything else you need help finding?” He asked at a loss of what else to say, he could get back to his own search in a bit or ask Mom to get the items when he next saw her.
