Sailor Zeus, Parallel Senshi of Thunder Esen Quinn Saylor will be her host for the quest. (Journal = Click name)(The way I'm doing this, I want Esen and Zeus to be at odds to begin with. Zeus as a character is based a bit off Sailor Jupiter - I read something here about them being a bit like their White Moon counterparts, though I might have misinterpreted it - but has quite a bit of influence from the mythological Greek god. Some traits were of my own addition. First, though, here's a recap of Esen in the space below.) Esen Quinn Saylor - Profile Name: Esen Quinn Saylor((Each link is the meaning of that name)) Nicknames: If you... 1) are a close friend of hers, 2) are family or 3) need to use her real first name for whatever LEGAL reason (teachers in roll call, for example), she is Esen. She usually introduces herself to strangers in more social situations as Quinn, though - it's a bit more normal sounding than Esen - and will then reveal her true first name when she gets to know you better on the positive end. ((Throughout this profile, 'Esen' is used to refer to the character.))Gender: Female Age: 16 17 School: Unaware of the horrors she went through in Barren Pines College, Esen is re-starting from scratch being a sophomore in Crystal Academy with a partial scholarship for the same skills Barren Pines took her for. Esen dorms at Crystal, but the new cell phone she owns can - and will - ring any time of day, barring school hours. Rica Saylor believed herself underprotective of her daughter, almost not allowing her to dorm at the new school. What would happen there, when at the Winter break museum trip from a time ago, Esen was abducted for her organs? Birthday: February 13th. Yes, it's the day before Valentine's Day, and that fact gives her mixed feelings: She receives gifts on the 13th, sometimes quite a bit of them, but the one gift she has always thought about around that time of year has never came into existence for her, not even the unrequited sort. Sign: Aquarius Blood Type: AB Gemstone: Agate (Sun Sign Stone for Aquarius) Fav. Food: Chocolate chip pancakes. The brand of pancake mix and chocolate chips used are very important, though, since she has a medical condition. Due to that, they are rarely made - these two items alone are almost $10, not including taxes. Hated Food: Anything made with gluten or wheat. Celiac disease ((a.k.a. Celiac Sprue, the medical condition referred to above)) is not fun - she has had to give up many favorite foods due to her diagnosis. Take5 bars aren't made with gluten-free pretzels, unfortunately - they were her most liked candy before the diagnosis, and gluten-free chocolate wafer bars just aren't the same. Hobbies: - Geology/Astronomy/General Science TriviaTo be honest, she might know more about the Negaverse Agents' names and Senshi names than most of the actual Negaverse Agents or Senshi would. For example, obsidian - it's not really a mineral, because it lacks crystalline structure. It's more like a piece of volcanic glass. Most people know what a nova is or that the star Polaris is what is called the "North Star," but Mu Cephei, a red supergiant, is about to die, and will eventually become a supernova. Long story short, Esen is a science geek, who is at her best with astronomy and the Earth sciences. - Rock collecting Esen only collected rocks while at Barren Pines; even if she did remember the collecting as a nice pursuit, her collection was left behind when most of her items were packed up post-death and therefore unrecognizable from being burnt or ashed over. - Some form of RPG or video gaming While not a really brain-boosting pastime, Esen fancies herself a few video games here and there. Most of them, however, are the type where a bit of strategy will actually help you get further, and not so much the hack-and-slash fighters or mindless FPS genre. (Just don't tell anyone about that DS she plays Pokemon on, or that she has a separate computer desktop just for her MMORPGs and the Sims. Esen doesn't like being pointed out as childish very much.) - Fantasy and sci-fi media, such as books, television and movies"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." That could be said for some people she'll meet, but even a person who learns how to do at least five new things each day (which is not Esen, although at least learning one a day is cool) needs to relax sometime. That is why Esen indulges herself into video games and the impossible events people can think of making into a story. In this aspect, she's a bit more open-minded at least once. Virtues: Efficient -- Esen has entrepreneur parents - Koray Reis, her father (a man of Turkish ethnicity, the one who named her 'Esen,' and is usually out on business), is a freelance professional organizer, sometimes seen on television shows or magazine articles - making it a good thing she didn't start out as Esen Reis. Rica Saylor (who gave her the middle name 'Quinn' as well as her surname) used to dance as a teenager, and, after an injury took her off the stage, now sells dance wear. The two live together above the dance wear store, but never married since A) it could potentially cause too much limelight for their daughter, depending on how famous he would become in the home improvement world, and B) it's not really interesting to them to go to some ceremony just to say 'I love you' in front of many people only there to give you cheesy gifts that you'll never use. This is significant for Esen in that the responsibilities of being an entrepreneur include hard work and a lot of organization - and regarding her father's career, the responsibilities there are obvious. Her home away from Barren Pines is as organized as it can get. The majority of the place is impeccable, with the worst-sorted being Esen's room. Even then, the room is more organized than that of most teenagers. To a lesser extent, her efficiency skills also work when she's solving problems that do not involve where to put the latest lunar calendar on the desk. Holds true to beliefs -- Esen, if she really cared to, could probably do well in the field of politics. Some people might think her stubborn, but in reality, she won't often waver from her beliefs and views. If she were to change her mind on something, she's probably thought about it for a good period before doing so. However, this does not always apply to every situation. In an interpersonal aspect, her beliefs can change pretty quickly. She's not the type to backstab, however; she may not seem trustworthy, but Esen can be counted on not to spill secrets or talk behind you without just cause. If one of your parents fell very ill recently and you don't want her to tell anyone, that's okay. If you want to hurt yourself because your parents fell very ill recently, she'll try to be discreet about it, but her mouth will not stay zipped. Personable -- She is more than willing to get along with people. Of course, they do have to respect her beliefs (to a certain extent) and the fact that she can't eat a lot of food that the majority of the population could otherwise enjoy without ill effects. Esen can seem a bit distant due to her superifical lack of emotion, but she's actually rather warm, compared to your typical scientist stereotype. Flaws:'Lack' of positive emotion-- Some of what Esen says has a poker face attached in public areas, usually the positive things. If she is angry or having negative emotion, that usually shows. Neutral emotion - and facial expression - would be her default setting if she were a robot, but if she's in a really good mood, the poker face becomes only subtly cheerier in public. Her voice is not affected, so Esen's physical expressions tend to be misleading from what her voice says. She is not as pessimistic as she seems, she just doesn't want attention overload. Some attention is fine, but before Barren Pines, her happy-go-lucky brainy self was often bullied at worst (for the fact she was often euphoric, with a brain to boot) to shunned at best (most girls thought of her only for the sake of their science grades, and as she was still in the Age of Cooties back then, males who noticed her grades were usually also terrified of cooties) in 'normal' elementary and middle school. Even though she's never been in a 'normal' high school, she figured that masking her emotions was best to prevent the events of the past. In a more private area with few people, she is more emotive. Argumentative -- To see things happen you'd like, one must state their opinion, although with Esen, she'll put too much of her heart into it at times. Actually, scratch that, she puts too much heart into her normal life too, although she doesn't usually go into an instant outrage. Tell her that the sky is white with blue spots, and she will politely correct you... the first time. If you somehow really think that the clouds are the sky itself and the blue spots are actually clouds, she's all too happy to get into a debate with you over it if she has a different opinion. Much of the time, they are short-lived arguments, but Esen, if she was part of the debate team, would win the award for 'Longest-lived argument.' That said, the Barren Pine Debate Club was always after her - she has been known to snap like this during classes (How about the teaching of Evolution in schools? The teacher would've likely given her extra credit for her impassioned, pro-evolutionary speech, if the guest speaker didn't force the teacher to take disciplinary action, eventually lessened from a day of suspension to an ungraded, non-countable essay on her point of view.), giving her a sort of reputation as being a temperamental brain. Contradictory -- Once upon a time, Esen was very cheerful, happy-go-lucky, and seemed on top of the world. Childhood naivete was killed a long time ago by bullies and cliques in school, and when that died, so did the majority of her previous attitude, and she became a bit cold. There is still a part inside of Esen, however, that seeks joy, the company of people, the ability to express yourself and trust it won't have a negative outcome. This internal debate is not severe to the point where she would have to attend therapy, but this mindset could be detrimental to any non-business, non-familial relationships. Say Esen was telling you one day that giving her a hug was okay, but the next two days she shies away from such contact, or that she doesn't want to talk in-depth about her past with you, yet tells you about why she hadn't been in regular high school for her freshman year and what caused it. And the positive emotions she hides for her better friends and family? There are certainly no static rules in her head saying that she must show you her feelings. Reserving next 3 posts

Sailor Zeus, Parallel Senshi of Thunder
Fav. Food: Zeus likes pasta dishes. This is a problem for her host, who cannot eat wheat products. Zeus would be unaware of this fact about her host, at least for a while, if she ever came to be.
Hobbies: Cooking -- Food is essential to life. Semi-healthy and decent-tasting food is preferable, but hard to come by. So, Zeus often makes food, for herself and her Parallels (mostly for the Parallels, she doesn't think she has time for food herself). It gives her a chance to lead something and make something she might actually like. However, her preference of food involves the grain category; it will take a while for Zeus to learn how not to unwittingly abuse her host. No, she's not the best, most awesome chef that ever lived. She just cooks.
Practicing first-aid techniques -- She's trying to do a good job being a part of a team, and she wants recognition like crazy. Because of this, Zeus aspires to do well in the field of first-aid. She does not want to be a doctor, but she wants to help her own, even though she doesn't always come off that way.
Gaming -- Zeus is in control of a different being's fate in games, and not so much risking her own fate. Give her a game where she can control a bunch of one thing - chess, checkers, the Sims, she's not picky - and she's happy as heck because she's running something. Other games are nice too, but come on - who wouldn't want to control their own little army? NOTE: I understand that, where Zeus comes from, it's not as technologically advanced as our world, the White Earth. Her host owns a computer with this game on it; I would think that, if Zeus learned how to use a computer, and the Sims in general, she'd probably like it because THEIR fate is in HER hands.
Virtues:
Maternal -- Zeus was considered the King of the Gods in Greek mythology. If she's not a ruler, she's at least a good parent to her own. She will cook for the Parallels (not so much because she's good at it, but to make sure they're well-sustained), she will ask them how they're doing and if there's anything going on, she'll attempt to dress minor wounds if her comrades need it. However, this is a double-trait for Zeus - she tends to be overbearing in this way.
It's how I feel, I'm sticking to it (the equivalent of Esen's 'Activist' ) -- Zeus thinks a certain way and damn it, she's going to keep thinking that way. It's why she has an intense maternal instinct and talks about how she feels. She thinks that if people say how they feel, things can be solved more easily, and that a well-oiled machine runs much smoother than a machine needing grease. It's also where her her loyalties show: Queen Nehelenia and Captain Aphrodite are highest on her 'people besides myself I care for the most' list, and most everyone else comes somewhere after that.
Expressive -- Zeus is pretty open; if she's had a bad day, she will tell you, including why and how. She's truthful, though in varying degrees of bluntness (she's usually a constructive-critic sort, with an occasional exception), and has a tendency to show rage to an enemy or opponent, in the same vein where she shows pain and joy (and sometimes rage too, frankly) to her friends and colleagues.
Flaws:
Credits please (Needs Recognition/Control) -- Zeus, no matter how many times she tells you she would have liked to be the Captain, or hell, the Queen for that matter, is not Aphrodite or Selene/Nehelenia. To compensate for this, she wants to be involved in everything, though prefers to be in the position of a leader. However, if she's not given any say in a mission, she's just not happy. Note that she does not disrespect or dislike Aphrodite or the Queen, however; Zeus is simply in need of control of something, anything, to feel right with herself.
I'll do it all, and by sunrise too (Overworking/self-sacrificial in a way) -- She feels underpaid due to the above trait, so in the effort to get recognition, Zeus overworks herself when she does have control of something. She works on far too many things at once, and there's a high chance that it will all eventually blow up in her face. Sleep is a luxury for Zeus, one she feels she doesn't need. All in all, though, she multitasks crappily and still tries. It's commendable of her to keep trying, but that doesn't mean it's ever done right.
Hypocritical Mother -- Hey, you, go get some shut-eye, take it one thing at a time, and make sure you eat something for once! Zeus, even though she pushes herself through life on three hours of sleep and a bunch of work on her shoulders, wants you to get your required seven to nine hours, a decent breakfast, and change your bandages after you shower, because after that injury you shouldn't BE working. She does not do a lot of these things herself, and that makes her seem very hypocritical - the fact she's trying to give her advice to the Parallels at the same time doesn't help this.
------------------
Sailor Zeus
Challenge: Shock and awe: that's my game!
Attack 1 (Senshi) Thunder Shot! Using (insert implement she'd use), Zeus sends a series of thunderclaps at her opponent, which can temporarily deafen them for about two to three of their posts. The weather affects this attack's power; lightning storms are the best conditions, then rain storms, snow storms, full cloud cover... if there's not a cloud in the sky, the attack still works, but it's relatively weak and takes its energy from Zeus herself.
Attack 1a (Super) Lightning Shot! Instead of a thunderclap, actual electricity is shot at her opponent. The weather rules still apply, and without cloud power, Zeus loses more energy with this version.
Attack 2 (Eternal) Storm Bird! Zeus summons a bird made out of electricity, only about three foot high with a wingspan of seven from one wing to the other. Controlled by (implement), it can 'scream' in thunderclaps and ram itself into opponents - however, the bird only stays stable for three-four posts. After that, the electricity discharges and spreads around erratically. This 'explosion' can damage opponents, but can also hurt allies, including Zeus herself. The weather influences this attack like it does the others.
------------------ Random Appearance Notes can be found here.
Eyes: Because, for most Parallels, the eye color changes from what I can tell, I think I'd like to see her eyes become a brighter shade of yellow. As for the glasses, I don't know if they should be kept.
Body: Also, as a human, Esen is short and petite (she actually has a rather boyish frame) with quite a few scars. The scars probably won't need to show (Regular senshis' eyes don't change when they transform, but the Parallels' eyes do, maybe I'm reading too much into it though), but I'm not sure if other characteristics would change?
Fuku Colour: Dominant: Grayish-white with beige or purple tint; if this won't work, pinkish-purple Accent: Bright/pastelish-borderline-white shade of blue/purple/pink (You don't usually think of electricity as these colors, no, but I'm basing the scheme more on lightning, which sometimes comes out in photography as a blue-to-pink color, and rain clouds for the primary color)
(Some thoughts/ideas below, based on current designs) - If she did have an object/weapon/implement of sorts, maybe a lightning rod wand? - Definite lightning influence in the design, if possible.

Connections amongst the Black Moon Court
Sailor Selene/Queen Nehelenia is respected because she is the Queen. She's also a bit liked for her nature in general - in that she'll make her own decisions and doesn't always feel a need to listen to suggestions - but Zeus knows that, no matter how much she wants to be in Her Highness' shoes, it is not going to happen. Instead, she just wants to know she's had a job well done. As for the presence of Prince Alexandros, Zeus does not mind it. Just don't hurt her.
Captain Aphrodite is her Captain. For this, she has to respect her. The two would probably be in conflict now and then because one of them makes the plan, and the other thinks this part of the plan would be better done this way, not that.
Zeus, in regards to the other Parallel Senshi and Cavaliers, wants to make sure that everyone's eating right, getting a proper amount of sleep and just generally taking care of themselves. Each gear in the machine has its purpose, after all!
Why Black Moon, and why Zeus {IC reasons} Okay, so she came from an abandoned mental institution. However, that means nothing about Esen's actual mental capabilities. A thinker at heart, she keeps true to her beliefs, even if some of these tend to have flawed logic. She can defend herself (in a verbal argument, at least - she wasn't much of a physical fighter), will make an effort to get along unless she finds you're a total a*****e with no redeeming qualities, and is quite studious - maybe she's not the smartest person on the White Earth, but she has a good, and relatively speedy, head on her shoulders. It would most likely be her brains that would have her become recruited for the Black Moon Court. As for Zeus and Thunder? Esen has a bit of an elitist side, even though she dislikes elitists with a burning passion, and if you ticked her off enough, she could probably give a good verbal lightning bolt to the instigator.
{OOC reasons} Esen hasn't had much in the line of difficulty in the times I've played her. As of right now, she's kind of wandering through life with no purpose, just continually living day-to-day. I enjoyed playing Esen as a youma at Barren Pines - she would try to be cordial, but eventually, something ugly was bound to happen. I think she needs more of that. Eventually, the personalities will merge somewhere, I'm aware of this; even after the merge, though, Esen will still have the powers of Sailor Zeus left behind somewhere in the mix. She needs a challenge in her life.

Hey Lemon!
I wanted to drop by a crit. C:
Let me say first I rather enjoy her maternal instincts. I often thought if Zeus was a woman he would be that way. I can get what you're saying about the "It's how I feel..." virtue, but for me it almost seems like it's coming off as a flaw. After reading it a few times I understood it, it could just be me.
I can't find anything really wrong here, maybe a question you should ask Shazari, since I know that Aeneas is Vice-Captain of the Cavaliers... would this be the same for his corresponding Senshi? You might want to take into consideration that Zeus may be Vice-Captain. (I'm really not sure, and not much will have to change, but it might assist you.) o w o
Also -
BIG BIG LOVE for your Eternal attack. As an eagle is a symbol for Zeus you've found a good way to implement it. <3

Okay, so rewrite/add to the flaw section "It's how I feel" (though I think that "Credits please" covers this a bit, where she wants a say in everything?), and check if Zeus would be a Vice-Captain under Aphrodite like Aeneas is under Hector? Alright, I'll be sure.
I also added information on Why Black Moon and Zeus, both OOC and IC.

Now, in regards to some things...
I haven't redone her "It's how I feel" trait, because - maybe this is just me - I think "Credits please" sort of covers it. Though I might add in a blurb about how they'd tie - Zeus seems like the sort who thinks she's always right, when she really isn't; and the only way to get something done right is to do it yourself.
I'm seeking a second opinion on the above matter, as well as more general critique.

Esen's already an accepted quest -- the only thing I'd point out about Esen at this juncture is that 'celiac disease' isn't actually a flaw so much as it is a tricky sidenote of her personality. I'd personally recommend nixing it and putting in another flaw. I'd also like to see what kind of activist she is -- what are her politics? What way does she lean, what is she actually interested in? You mention GLBT, but if this is her main go-to pet cause I'd love to see how she's organised about it rather than arguing down other people. Is she involved with Gay Youth, or is her activism more the type where she just believes in something and argues about it? In terms of Zeus herself -- I like the schtick of maternal Zeus, especially one who craves recognition. However, I'd like to see a lot more in credits, please. She loves recognition: is she the first to point out exactly what she did on each mission and how she succeeded? Is she the type to say 'we' about success on a group mission if it was somebody else's -- to not maliciously steal their thunder, but really want to believe or point out that she somehow had a hand in it? Wanting credit is a good starter flaw, but you actually need to put down the bad s**t that she does to make it a flaw. Simply wanting something doesn't make you a bad person, it's the behaviour that makes the flaw. If she multitasks in a negative flaw way, does she also tend to put on the martyr face of exactly how much she does -- tying in with wanting recognition? I also think that 'hypocritical' is something you can, again, tie in here to wanting recognition/martyrdom -- she tells everyone what to do, doesn't do it herself, but if she's only telling people to do positive things it's not a flaw. If she's telling people to only work on one thing at a time and not shoddily, that's great. If she's telling people to let other people have a chance in the limelight and admit something else did something, that's fine and hypocritical. Just asking a person to take care of themselves isn't really an obnoxious flaw, and because she's well-meaning her flaws list is kind of "well, here's again how Zeus is kind of loving and caring." I think there's fleshing out to be had on all of her virtues and flaws. I also think you can take more into 'expressive' -- Zeus sounds to me like the type of person who, if asked about her day, won't give you the answer you want (ie, a one word answer) but keep you for 45 minutes describing her cold/how crappy her day was/how awesome her day was/awesome s**t she's doing at the moment, not caring or realising that all you wanted was a 'fine'. In terms of attacks, I'd also like them to be more thunder-based -- less emphasis on the electricity and more on the sonic booms. smile I just think there's a lot of fleshing out to be done here, but I do like the schtick you're going with. Just keep in mind that maternal/protective parent characters should have flaws other than 'cares too much' in the end, or they'll prove really difficult to play against. Gimme some bad intentions, but I think Zeus is a great foil to Esen.

In response to Rose - 1 - I was wondering a bit about Esen as she originally was to begin with in the first place, anyway. To be honest, I think others who had Barren Pines students go on to permanency felt the same. I believe Akina had some thoughts on the matter in her own quest thread; that is, it's what we've wrote about them and because it got approved, that's it, no more we can do with that, which was how I thought about it as well. For that end, I'll probably do a profile edit so things make more sense and we can all feel a bit better about her presence, though I'll definitely pass the rewrite by someone first. Also, to note, I actually meant more along the line of 'Stays true to her beliefs' for that virtue... I think it shows pretty obviously that Esen was a character who was quickly written up. 2 - On Zeus, I'll do that for her personality - that is, elaborate on her traits and explain her generally a bit more. On the powers, I wasn't sure what sense Thunder was meant to be in, considering that it was listed twice in the prohibited, one for the fact it was Jupiter's focus, and one (which we now know is) for the Parallel. I asked about it in the thread, and she told me the below. Shazari Game Rated - Lemon ...okay, now I'm confused as heck. On the Forum Note - that is, for the disallowed spheres list - Thunder is under both the locations of the Parallel Court Sphere list and the Original Court Sphere list. My response is 'Double-you-tee-eff is with that list?' I'm not sure if they were supposed to mean different things (like, electricity versus the thunderclap), but that's just confusing as hell! >.< It happens to appear twice -- the original "disallowed" list is to prevent overlap with the canon senshi, but since the parallel senshi are, well, parallel to the canon senshi, their elements are supposed to have some extent of overlap. All is well. <3 I was running on the assumption that they were one and the same, even though others said 'I think they meant lightning for one and the noise of thunder for the other.' I know some other Zeus quests weren't as confused about this as I was, but I wasn't sure, since the same word was used for both interpretations. 3 - You might think it silly of me to say in response to all this, but thanks for shooting it down. I know that things are off, but since I tend not to notice what exactly it is, other people can help me pinpoint it. That, and it's really helpful to see it in the eyes of someone on the ItNotM ladder.
