Alexander sat at the edge of a pond, thankful that the rest of the toddlers were in another part of the field. He could feel Alecto's eyes watching him to make sure he didn't fall in, thought he knew her thoughts were on chemistry. Looking across the pond, he could see Klotho and Shika playing with Aiolos and Megaera. He concentrated on them, trying to pick out individual thoughts. Unable to, he groaned and threw a rock in the pond.

Shirina was brought out to a field by her caretaker Serenity for a day of calming relaxation. The part snake anikal waddled down to the pond and looked at her reflection in the water then began to make faces in the water. After her run she looked about to see who else is out and about at the pond. She spotted other boy at the pond as well and watched him toss the rock aross the pond. 'He don't wook to happy' She thought as she watched him then back to the water. Shirina did not want to bother him if he was mad but she also wanted to know why. Curiosity got to her and decided to crawl closer to see what bother him. In a low toddler crawl she tried to sneak over to where he was thinking he could not see her like this.

Alexander heard her thought clearly, though he didn't look her way. He tossed another rock into the pond, waiting for her to come closer. Trying to see her out of the corner of his eye, he smiled softly. Meeting new people was always fun, and she looked interesting.

Shirina sneaked closer feeling like he could not see her. When she got about a yard and a half away from him she plopped down on her belly and watched him. Giggling in her head as best as she could she thought 'He can't see me. I good.' She felt proud of herself for being such a sneak not knowing that he saw her already and knew she was there. Keeping low to the ground she watched to see what made him toss the rock across the pond in what she thought was anger.

He tried to hide a laugh when he could hear her mental giggle. It was hard not to look at her as she crawled toward him on her belly. Just a little closer... Turning his face away to conceal his growing smile, he waited for her to come closer.

Shirina kept her distance and watched him waiting to see any sign of anger of any sort. When he turned his head away her eyes widen. 'Did he see me? What he see? I cawght now?' So many thoughts ran though her mind thinking was she found, did someone call him, was something over there more interesting? What made him look away? She had to get closer and find out. Trying to keep low and hidden she crawled a little closer to see what was on the other side of him that made him look that way.

Alexander waited as she got closer, wondering if she'd get scared like Megaera or jump and laugh like Aiolos. When she got close enough, he turned to her and said, "BOO!" He covered his mouth and giggled then, pleased with himself that he'd managed to wait so long to do it.

Shirina inched closer and closer quietly trying not to make a sound when all of a sudden he turned about and said boo. Shirina jumped from her crawled position and tumbled a bit before righting herself with her face puffed with anger. "Why you do that!" She said in a annoyed tone as she crossed her arms as she waited for his answer.

He stopped laughing and flushed when she got angry. That definitely wasn't what he was expecting. "I sowwie! I not mean to make yew mad..." he said as he looked at her, entirely apologetic. He stuck his hand out like he'd seen the grown ups do. "Fwiends?" he asked sweetly.

Shirina looked at him for a moment then placed her hand his his. "....... Fwiends.." She said in a iffy tone. If he is the type to scare people now and then then maybe she needs to think that over. Right now she was okay with the idea as long as he does not try to scare her again. "Why you toss rock? You mad?" She asked and pointed out at the pond.

He smiled and shook their hands up and down a few times. "Good! I like fweinds," he said. Letting go of her hand, he looked toward the pond as if it could give his answer. "Uh huh, mad. Trying to do somefink and it not working." He turned back to Shirina and smiled. "I Xander. What's youw name?"

Shirina blinked at the hand shaking a bit then tilted her head from his answer. "Twying to do what and not work? Cans I help you wit it?" She asked then he asked for her name and posed proudly "I Shirina! Nice to meet you Xander." She beamed happily.

"Huh..." he looked at her and thought for a moment. "Mebbe you can..." Pushing on the ground between his legs, he stood up a little shakily. "Stay dere," he said and moved a little bit away. "Fink somefing." He pointed to his head to clarify his meaning. With his limited vocabulary, Alexander didn't know how else to express himself.

Shirina blinked as he got up and moved away. Think of something? What did he want her to think about? She pulled something out of her head and thought 'Shirina hewp Xander? She feel like she is not...... Why he point at his head?' Random thoughts of how she is helping and why he moved away filled her head only to confuse her more about this till she called out. "I hewp any?" She sat there waiting for his response hoping she was doing whatever she was supposed to correctly.

Alexander smiled. He could still hear her. "You'we hewping good!" he said and moved a little farther away. "Fink again!" he asked. He was almost at the edge of his short range now. He knew that not everyone could hear others' thoughts like he could, and he wanted to see what else he could do with this.
