x x x x x WHO: Alex, Anita & Zul x x x x x WHEN: Afternoon x x x x x WHERE: Game Depot x x x x x WEATHER: Cool of after the rain
Zul couldn't hear her grumbling anymore, not that he really minded. He could tell well enough by the way her breath crystallized in front of the scarf she wore, the way her eyes were set in a brooding manner beneath her unamused eyebrows that she was still carrying on in her own way. The only thing that was keeping her from being out-right angry was that he had expressed his opinion logically, and it was one she couldn't refute. Yes, he'd given away a fel essence and bottle at his discretion. No, they didn't know about it, but who were they to be more qualified to choose a candidate for Guardianship than he? She was beginning to come around to his way of thinking, he knew, and for that, he did not press the matter further.
As the two floated into the mall to head towards the store they'd been invited to, he couldn't help but look back at the change time had given him. It'd been nearly a year since they'd last been there, since they'd seen the woman he had affectionately dubbed Game Lady Anita, and now, approaching the gaily lit sign that declared "Game Depot," he wondered if Anita would be the same too. Zul knew she had turned in the bottle and essence - Zeke's message had claimed as much - but did it have any adverse effect on her? Would she be angry at him for not providing any information? He wouldn't know until he saw her again, now would he?
Certainly, she was grumbling, but it was mostly because she felt it was what was expected of her. Inwardly, Alex was both amazed and cowed at the idea that Zul had taken an active role in deciding who was 'worthy' to take care of his kind. She was amazed, in part, that he remembered Anita and thought well of her enough to choose her; she was cowed because he had acted on instinct and logic rather than emotion. His logic was becoming more understandable as the days passed, making her miss when his mind based each of his decisions off of how he felt about a thing, or how he perceived any given thing. That child-like mentality was slowly evolving into the persona she saw floating at her side, his head held high and regal like his namesake. My king, she thought in an amused manner that made her shiver a little. Would he grow into that name...?
Now wasn't the time to speculate. Instead, she lifted her face out of the scarf and let the fabric dangle over her charcoal long-sleeved shirt, the blue of the swath around her neck a vibrant contrast. She didn't want to startle anyone with the almost-healed marks on her arms now, choosing to play it safe even if she was a little cold, thus giving more reason for the long sleeves. With her hands in her dark blue jeans pockets, she entered the store, turning her eyes towards the counter with a smile.
The demon was at her side, entering with a calm, poised demeanor. Whereas he had been excited and curious about everything in his first adventure into the shop, he was now a bit more reserved and significantly more level-headed. Between the virus, his change of feeding habits and the move, he wasn't entirely certain if it wouldn't be far off to say that who the Raevan was now was not the same as the youthful being of before. Undaunted by anyone else that might have been in the shop, Zul floated towards the counter, calling out in his smoke-filled voice, "Game Lady Anita~"

Pale hands held a long red bin, one of them sorting through older CD cases for games of the previous generation, alphabetizing them. She had to continuously do this when things got slow when she was behind the counter, as rarely anyone else would and the manager working today was doing the same for the games on the racks. Like usual at work, her hair was down, not in its signature braids, and there was quite a lot of it, just ending near her mid-back; not even the braids, with how often she wore them, could remove the large body her hair had nor its curl.
Her back was turned to the door, not seeing people come in but she would drop her task immediately to assist them when they asked for it. Rooting through the G's and finding a K game, Anita frowned and plucked it out between two fingers, quickly sifting through the letters and assigning it to its proper place. As she did so, the manager waved to the two and a half figures entering, but returned to his work.
"Game Lady Anita~"
All motion ceased, her entire body tensing up. A tingling sensation worked its way up from her back to her brain, taking a moment before she could begin moving again. After regaining control, she slowly bent down and set the red bin on the floor, turning to face the duo.
It had been so long since she had seen either of them, and the air around them was certainly different. Due to the time, Zul had almost seemed ethereal, godly in Anita's mind from his single act and there he was before her with the body language and mentality to suit it. Alex, as well, seemed different some how but it was harder for the girl to place just what had changed about the Italian except, perhaps, being angry that Zul had likely given up an Essence and Soul Bottle without permission.
As she observed them, her green eyes lit up and glistened, moisture collecting until her vision blurred and she choked out a wispy "Hi..." before laughing at herself and rubbing her eyes dry. Taking a deep breath, she tried again, eyes locked with the Frei's "Hello, Zul." Acknowledgment out of the way, she then turned to Alex and extended her hand for a shake, though it was trembling slightly, "Wow... It's great to see you guys again. I was really hoping you would stop in and," she laughed, "Here you are!" The situation almost didn't seem real, but there it was, solid proof. She wondered if Zul already knew that she had turned in those precious items to the green and purple haired man, whether he had any news on the Raevan's progress or even what soul she had managed to accidentally acquire. Whatever he knew, she would be so happy to see the reaction from it.

The Frei watched, floating a little slower in his approach to the counter as it seemed Anita moved in a strange type of slow motion. He'd seen that type of turn in horror movies, but he certainly wasn't a serial killer and he wasn't that frightening (though he might have been flattered to think so). Zul cocked his head to the side, resting his gloved hands against the counter and giving the young woman a rather lop-sided smile. Bone-framed wings ticked and clicked together, a tell-tale sign of his excitement that he tried to keep under wraps as they were in her workplace. "Hello," he purred, though his dark brows lifted in minute surprise as he realized her eyes were leaking. The demon gave a start, glancing towards his woman in question: did he do something wrong? He'd only ever seen Alex's eyes do that when she was upset!
Any anxiety or upset the Italian might have held in her chest immediately eased up and melted away at the way Anita was looking at her charge. Alex crossed the store with a polite nod to the manager before regarding the young woman with cool green eyes, considering. A crocodile soul was no small feat, but the woman seemed okay, and thus she felt slightly less guilty about the whole ordeal - but only slightly. She looked startled when Anita seemed to have a hard time squeezing that one word out, glancing to Zul and giving a slight shake of her head at the unspoken question; she'd have to explain later. When the hand was extended, she gave a quiet scoff and moved to the side of the counter, accepting the hand and lightly tugging Anita against herself, her free arm looping brief but warm around the other's shoulders.
"We're family now." It was her way of explaining her affectionate nature, something she hoped wouldn't offend Anita. "We got your message," she smiled, "and Zul damn near tore a new door in the Lab to come see you. Right?" When the Frei nodded, she gave Anita another brief squeeze. "Are you okay? Did you have any trouble?" Alex kept her voice as kind and level as she knew how, concern touching her otherwise jovial gaze.
After a moment of consideration while his woman was talking, Zul joined the tangle of arms by lending his own, resting one around Anita's back and the other on Alex's. "I knew you would do it," he said to the clerk, his smile wide and showing some of the pride that he held in his smoky voice. "I knew. I look forward to meeting them." He thought to ask the obvious, like, would the newborn be into video games? Would it have a choice in the matter? Why did she pick a crocodile? But it all seemed a little too forward, too fast, and the slowly maturing demon instead went with tact. "We are here to see you, though," he continued with that same prideful smile. "You look well." It was his round-about way of saying that he hoped she wasn't hurt or upset with him, but that would explain the leak, wouldn't it?

Her smile grew as the woman returned her shake but she uttered a small squeak of surprise when she pulled Anita into a hug. It was just like at the Lab, when she told Zeke she hoped their Raevans could be friends, where he hugged her.
"We're family now."
Family... Josh had said that, as well: "Welcome to the big Lab family." More and more, she was beginning to believe it, and a warm feeling was welling up in her chest. Anita choked on a laugh, her eyes getting watery again but a warm smile was stuck on her features. She looked over at Zul as he confirmed his actions, so it seemed that literally just got the message themselves. "I'm okay. Ah... it was a little hard getting information about what to do--I only knew Josh had LuLu at the time, and I only found that out a couple months ago," she chuckled, relaxing a bit and returning the hug in full.
Just as she did, Zul found it a good time to join the knot of bodies, and she adjusted one of her arms to be on his back, as well, being mindful of his wings. The Frei was so warm, and far more gentle than his features lead on. "I knew you would do it," And there, her eyes did leak; Anita moved her head and rested it against Zul's shoulder, smiling even more brightly, if that were possible.
Giving them both a prolonged squeeze, Anita slowly pulled herself out of the tangle and returned to her place behind the counter. A quick sniffle alerted her that she needed a tissue, and she bent down to fetch one, wiping her eyes and then turning to blow her nose. "Sorry. It's just I'm really grateful..." composure regained, she turned to look at Zul once more and rested a hand on his, bowing her head slightly, "Thank you, Zul." Her thanks weren't directed to his statement of her looking well, far from it. The tears that kept building here and their as the exchange progressed, tears of joy. Perhaps Zul had never seen those.
She was bursting with things to tell them, herself, but work really wasn't the place to do it. Her green eyes dodged over to her manager and she ducked under the counter, "Hey, do you think I could take my lunch now? ...Some family I haven't seen in a while dropped by."
"Eh, we're not busy... Go ahead, but you've only got a half hour," and with that, she whirled around to her companions and grinned the biggest grin of her life, "Can I treat you guys to anything?" Whatever her new family wanted, however she could repay them.

LuLu! That made the demon float a bit more straight, squeezing the young woman with even more fondness. She was friends with his LuLu? Zul knew he had chosen correctly, and the news only confirmed it beyond a shadow of a doubt. The Rabbit femme was Good People, and if she liked Anita, that could only mean Good Things for all of them in the future. More than ever, the Frei was looking forward to the births of the two newest Raevans, new blood under good care. "Don't have to apologize," he murmured as she pulled away to dab her eyes. He looked momentarily surprised at her bowed head, but the smile that curved his lips was full of warmth and pride, inclining his tri-horned head in return. "Thank you." There weren't many humans, if any, that Zul would consider 'worthy' to care for a Raevan. He was grateful to have met the game store clerk.
The expression Alex wore wasn't far off from her charge, holding both pride and hope for the young woman and newest addition to their ever-growing family. When Anita moved back, she stuck her hands in her pockets again, simply smiling as she watched the exchange between Frei and Guardian. The Italian had never seen such a fondness from Zul for a human before, not even towards her own brother or Zeke; she wondered if it had something to do with females and purity and all that demons found enticing, but that thought was quickly wiped from her mind. She hoped she never would have to seriously consider that for her Zul!
"Ah," she exclaimed with surprise, biting her bottom lip and looking between the two. "I'd just be happy with some hot cocoa if you know any place in the mall that has good stuff. I'm a bit spoiled so I think I'm a bit picky too." Alex quirked a lop-sided grin, thinking fondly of her boyfriend and his ability to make hot cocoa from scratch - yes, she was definitely spoiled beyond measure and rather proud of it. "Are you hungry? I mean, it's your lunch, so if you don't mind company, we'll just tag along for a bit." Adjusting the scarf around her neck, she added, "I would have just let Zul come to see you but I figured I should come too - in case you had any questions or concerns." Another pause. "I'm pretty sure Zeke took care of them," there was fondness in her tone at the mention of the pierced young man, "but since he's still in training, I like to give him a hard time."
The Frei extended his bone wings with joy - they would have more time with her! - rattling the rings against the frames as he approached Anita, taking her hand without question and putting it against his bicep as he curled his arm at his chest. He lightly pat the woman's fingers to indicate she was still leading, he was just doing the duty that he enjoyed since his last foray with Lucia and Vyn. This was how he chose to treat the ladies worth paying attention to; Anita was the first human on that list. "Lunch," he agreed with his woman, smiling warmly once more. "We want to take care of you too. Will you tell us about the capture, sometime?" He knew the question would earn a sharp look from his woman, but he didn't mind; he knew how they were created and he wanted to know why Anita had made the decision she had. It was important!

The both of them were so thoughtful and accommodating, even though Anita barely knew either of one them, they--like Zeke--were a joy to be around. If the rest of the Raevans and ther guardians were like this, then her only apprehension was living up to their wonderful standards. The suggestion of hot cocoa on Alex's part was wonderful, and Anita agreed; "I always get my lunch at the food court here, usually the Japanese place--their teriyaki chicken is delicious--but there's at least one place that does hot cocoa, it's actually a cookie place."
The thought occurred to her, though, as Zul brought her hand to his chest and gave it a gentle pat, that she hadn't asked anyone how Raevans ate. They clearly were void of stomachs, and looking at Zul she couldn't help but smile but still be curious. "I can tell you while we eat. Is there anything you'd like?" Perhaps that would be the gentler way to approach the question, and both Zul and Alex would set her straight with the details. Besides, if she was to take care of one, she had to be able to provide the proper nourishment for it!
Grabbing her jacket, Anita zipped it up so her Game Depot name tag was covered and she wouldn't be asked a bunch of shop related questions while on break, (surprisingly, it happened quite a bit) and lead her two compatriots onward to the Food Court. It was filled to the brim with people, loud chattering, the smells of hot foods and sizzling grills.
"I want to treat you guys," Anita said while digging through her pockets. Pulling out a thin leather wallet, she retrieved some gold held her hand out with the small pile, "Whatever you want, I insist." Pointing over towards the far right, Anita acknowledged the Japanese grill section, "That's where I'll be, so you guys can pick out a seat when you finish, and her finger changed positions to the back of the court, a few stops from a pizza place, "That's where they have the cookies and hot chocolate, s'the best I've had in Gambino." Smiling wide, she departed from the two, intent on returning to them quickly to share stories and ask questions. This would likely be her best lunch break yet.

Zul chuckled lightly as the question of food was turned to him, politely shaking his head. "I only eat ice," he explained, though even that was a stretch. It was more like his body absorbed the essence before his mouth did, but that was a lot more to say. "But thank you, Game Lady Anita, for asking." If anything, it made the demon like her even more for asking; most people either assumed or didn't bother with questions. He liked questions. He had a whole bucketful of his own at any given time!
The mention of the chicken reminded Alex of the last time they'd been in the store, smiling a little inwardly. One thing she could say for mall food was that they did know how to do Chinese and Mongolian rather well. She turned on heel and followed the younger woman as they left the business, looking over the sea of faces with a passive sort of curiosity. She always seemed to note the ones that did a snapping turn to look at her charge, though it was easier with him floating between her and Anita. He'd never been bothered by it, but she wondered if any of the other Raevans were...if their Guardians were. If Anita would be. It was a whole new life, having a Raevan in it...
She smelled the food court before they got close enough to see all the stalls, her expression momentarily wistful. The last time she'd been at the mall was for Christmas shopping, and before that...a very different and unpleasant reason. Alex shook off the memories of the virus, nodding distractedly as Anita talked about the cookie place and gave them directions. "Sounds good. Zul, would you...?"
"I'll get our seat," he agreed, carefully taking the gold since his woman was not and pointedly pressing it against her arm. Only when Alex gave him a startled but rueful smile did he let it pass into her hands, watching her start off to the designated area. His sky-blue eyes turned to note Anita's direction, very nearly following her but deciding to make good on his word and instead find a table for them in the mess of people. He was used to the stares by now, and after only a little searching, he found a mostly clean one on the outskirts of the dining area and the density of the populace. He 'sat' in one of the four chairs, certain the two women would have very little problem finding him.

Questions was definitely what Anita had in regards too Raevans, and with the questions she had asked Zeke, the question of food hadn't come up before. When Zul said he ate ice, the idea came to her very suddenly and she smiled to herself as she wandered off from their trio to get her food. It was an odd request from such a place, that when they asked her what drink she wanted, she said "Lemon-lime soda, and a small cup of ice with no soda? The request had to be repeated once more, after the woman behind the register gave her a confused look.
Her own order was specific, but much more simple; double meat, no vegetables, and a couple packets of soy sauce. Picking up a red tray, she slid it down and waited in line as the cooks chopped, seared and collected the meat and vegetables from the orders given before her into white styrofoam containers. Colored toothpicks stuck out to indicate the proper orders, and there was hers, two red tooth picks ready to go. The cups had been filled, one with soda, one with ice, and she removed the cap from the one with ice that had been mistakenly placed.
Taking a quick gander around, she spotted Alex in line for her cocoa, and there was Zul, awaiting their company. Trotting over, she had a wide grin about her face that she couldn't seem to contain. She greeted him, set the tray down in front of herself and placed the cup of ice in front of Zul. "You don't have to eat it if you're not hungry, but I thought you might like the option." Now that it was the both of them, her mind was full to bursting with all kinds of questions. Do your wings make you fly? Do you stay like this forever? Do all Raevans eat ice or just you? But she couldn't figure out which one to ask first, there were so many and while most of them were pretty obvious, others were fairly off the wall. One thing she was particularly interested, since she now knew what went into the creation of a Raevan, was what his soul and Essence were.
"I wonder if the one I take care of will eat ice, too," wording things like that softened the possibility of offending the Frei in her mind, whether it was an unfounded thought or not. Given the combination, ice wasn't in her Raevan's equation at all but Anita wasn't privy to this information. Hopefully Zul would give her more insight, after all, who would know better than a Raevan?

He was patiently smoothing his tanned digits over the surface of the table when he noticed Anita's approach, lifting his eyes and returning her enigmatic grin with one of his own. Zul lifted a dark brow in curiosity at the cup that was put in front of him, giving her a quizzical look before peering inside and spotting...ice? The demon stared before bursting into appreciative laughter, picking up the Styrofoam cup with his fingers around the mouth of it, tilting it just so to hear the frigid clink of the cubes within.
"Thank you," he said kindly, tilting his head to the side with an amused expression. His eyes turned briefly towards where he knew his woman had gone off to, catching sight of her easily in the crowd with the scarf nearly the color of his eyes. She was watching them, and when she saw him look at her, she simply smiled and turned her back again. Was she pretending to be in line to give them some time? Zul could only fathom, though part of him was grateful for the odd gesture.
At the question, another light bit of laughter escaped him, shaking his head. Putting the cup down, his fingers dipped within it to retrieve his cold bounty. "It's part of me." Zul decided he ought to explain a little; he would know best, after all! "It's part of my power," he clarified, lifting his free hand to show her. Ice crystals slid over the fabric of his glove and around his fingers before melting; not a single drop touched the table, nor was his hand wet after the display. "So, I feed from it to keep my power available."
He held out the hand with the ice cube before closing his fingers over it. Not but a few seconds passed before his fingers uncurled, the ice cube no where in sight, again without any type of moisture. "I bet yours will eat worms and berries!" Zul smiled grandly, resting his fingers against the lip of the cup again. "Alix said mistletoe grows on plants from bird draw pings, and even though I don't get that, I know birds eat worms and berries." The demon nodded to himself, satisfied with his explanation. It made sense, didn't it?
"Then again..." He gave pause for thought, looking at Anita thoughtfully. "Maybe it'll eat trees. Can you imagine?" Zul turned his head to glance towards the ceiling, as if he could just see a tree withering away from a touch. Heh. Eiry would love that one.

His laughing had caught her off guard, and the smile she had faltered for a moment until he thanked her, where it brightened up again. Perhaps she had misunderstood, that was entirely possible; she was still so new to the whole concept of Raevans, let alone their inner workings, she had literally thought Zul would eat the ice from the cup. When he demonstrated that this was not the case from the first cube, her eyes went wide with interest and her mouth couldn't decide whether to hang open with rapt attention or stay closed into an impressed smirk.
"You control ice?" she questioned when Zul mentioned his power, watching closely as his skin soaked up any and all moisture and coldness from the ice, leaving no sign of it ever having existed. It seemed Raevans absorbed their food source, rather than ingesting it, which made a lot more sense when it came right down to it. Raevans didn't have stomachs.
Zul's suggestion of her Raevan's feeding method made her laugh as she tried to picture a crocodile eating worms and berries, a psuedo-vegetarian as opposed to the distinct carnivorous method of eating the animal typically had. The Frei's misunderstanding of where mistletoe grew was humorous, but Anita also found it a bit distressing that mistletoe specifically grew where a bird had relieved itself on a plant or tree. Though his logic may have been flawed, when he explained what he meant, Anita could see the connections and where his ideas were coming from. It was rather like a child that only understood half of a given subject, but based on what it did know, it drew a reasonable conclusion. Zul was certainly quirky.
"Eating trees..." Anita leaned back in her chair, looking up at the ceiling with Zul to get a clear picture; the resulting image formed a naked Raevan with a crocodile's head chomping down trees and basically inhaling them rather than chewing. Of course, this wasn't the proper method for how Raevan's ate, so she swapped it with a similar image Zul was conjuring to himself, though instead of the tree withering away and dying, it was slowly sucked up and disappeared into nothing like the ice. Chirping excitedly, she looked back at her companion's piercing blue eyes, "Would he not eat mistletoe? Or maybe..." a worry cropped up as she recalled what the essence had made her do, "...It made me kiss a lot of people. Would it maybe do that, too?" Oh dear...

"Ice is one part of myself, yes," he replied, not minding much if he sounded too cryptic. Anita could ask all the question she wanted and he would all-too-happily respond; he did not take it as a pressing of him as a creature, but Raevans as a whole. She was going to be a Guardian soon, and whom better to answer questions than himself, really? Certainly, maybe the glass-eyed man or his woman could answer things on logic and science, but he could answer from the heart and first-hand experience.
Unbeknown to him, Anita was sharing a similar image to he: he saw a scaled torso with sharp teeth, arms wrapped around a tree in an embrace of farewell, genderless in his mind for now but not without qualities of others he had met. "I wonder what yours will look like." The musing was spoken out loud, but mostly reflective to himself. He hadn't considered what the ingredients could produce before, but in the case of Anita and her Mistletoe, he was making exceptions.
At the question of eating mistletoe or making people kiss, the Frei gave a noncommittal shrug. "Alix told me about the human tradition, but I don't know if that could feed it. I never saw it, I was only told--it worked on you?" He cut himself short, surprise riddling his tanned face. He had shipped it to her exactly as it had been in the sealed room - bound in the Styrofoam and without anyone near by, so he himself had not been encouraged to kiss anyone or anything. Zul frowned a touch at that, looking down to the ice in the cup before fixing his blue eyes upon the woman again. "I'm sorry," he apologized, "for not warning you. It didn't work on me, so I thought it wouldn't work on humans." Naturally, he didn't consider the glass-eyed man to be human, but that was obvious to anyone who met him. Apparently Kyou wasn't the only one affected after all.
The demon licked his lips, considering. Feed off of kisses, huh. "Do you think it would feed off of kissing - it, doing the kissing - or kisses of others?" Zul couldn't stop the smile that formed them, chuckling in his low, smoky manner. "It would feed well at home." There was a lazy type of smugness in his words, bemusement in his eyes. "Maybe it would eat mistletoe. Ah." The demon suddenly smiled widely, leaning forward with excitement in his eyes. "If you want to collect samples for when it's born, I'll help. I have to make it up to you - not warning. I have to make that right."

So Zul was one part ice, one part something else. It made sense, he seemed far too warm to be ice at all, let alone fully, and Anita wondered aloud, though neglected to form it into a question, "So I guess the other part is something warm." It didn't occur to her that he might have had more than two parts; her assumption was his Essence was something cold while his Soul was something warm. Not entirely far from the truth, but certainly not accurate. Anita smiled gently at Zul's musings of her Raevan-to-be's appearance. It was impossible for those thoughts to escape her mind as well, but they were all so vague, nothing she could conjure would even be close--she knew that--and even if she could get a clear image, it wasn't nearly as unique or beautiful as all of the Raevans she had met.
The Frei's apology startled Anita, simultaneously causing a wave of relief to sweep over her. Of course Zul wouldn't have intentionally sent her the Essence if he had known it would do those things, though it certainly didn't help that she was the easily embarrassed type when it came to public displays of affection. Strangers had made the situation even worse. Anita pondered briefly if Zul had been with anyone else when he had packed up the Essence and bottle. It seemed unlikely, since his sending and her receiving it was a surprise to all who were involved, and uninvolved, and the pigtailed woman laughed under her breath that perhaps Zul had come to that assumption because he merely had no one around him to kiss at the time. "It's okay. Whatever it did, this story's got a happy ending," she assured the Frei, and it was true; despite people having come onto her in regards to her antics and she had given dozens of undue kisses to family, friends and strangers alike, the outcome was a good one.
"Hmm... I guess it feeding from kisses it gives wouldn't make too much sense... so maybe others.." Anita found herself frowning. The whole absorbtion of nutrients from non-nutritional foods was still new to her, and her mind continued to swim in confusion to that regard. Zul's suggestion that it simply ate mistletoe was most welcomed, and Anita shot up into a straightened posture, nodding excitedly, "That's probably what it is!" His next suggestion was met with all smiles, what a grand gesture this Raevan made, as if he hadn't done enough for her already. "That'll be such a big help, I don't think I've seen any mistletoe growing where I live so it'll be hard for it to eat if that's the case."
In all of the confusion, she had nearly forgotten about her food, and made a quiet sound of surprise while picking up her fork and hefting a large scoop of the sauced chicken into her mouth, relaxing back in her seat as she enjoyed the flavor. Mid-chew, Anita tucked what was left of the chicken to one cheek so as not to impede her speech, "Mm. Where is Alex, anyway?" her green eyes leaped to the cookie stand, and there was a rather long line but she couldn't seem to spot the older woman.
It was unfortunate, but her lunch break was running short. Time had been ticking by so quickly as she enjoyed the conversation and Zul's company, Anita felt a bit guilty that it hadn't come to her attention sooner. Glancing to the large clock in the food court, Anita swallowed her food and grumbled, "Aw man, we've only got five more minutes..."

"Warm, yes," the demon repeated with an amused lift of his brows, a slow grin forming on his features. "You could say that." His essence was, in truth, three parts, but very few might ever realize it. His soul gave him a different element all together, but that was neither here nor there; Zul was hoping Anita's charge would be less complicated than him, on both a selfish and not-so-conceited level.
He felt something like relief on his bare shoulders when it seemed the woman accepted his apology, bowing his tri-horned head in gratitude. "I hope so." Zul gave her another smile with the full force of charm behind it, still rather at ease with the human. "A Raevan for you, a friend for me." There was no other outcome in the demon's head - they would be friends, come hell or high water. Creme-to-flame hair dipped in another nod, his smile a bit more crooked at the mention of mistletoe hunting. An expedition for mistletoe in goodness-knows-where with only their wits to help them! Sounded like fun!
At the inquiry to his woman, he turned his eyes again towards the area he'd last seen her. It took him a minute to pick her out, but when he did, she was looking at him again. She gave a nod and started over, hot cocoa held between her fingers. "Coming," he said with satisfaction, though it was short lived at the last bit of information, earning a slight frown. "So soon? You humans have such short time to do anything fun." Zul wouldn't admit it, but he was sulking a bit - his second meeting with Anita was not near as long as he would have liked.
"Short time?" Alex chimed in as she rejoined the two, putting her free hand on Zul's shoulder. "Right, you're on your lunch break, huh? Jeez, sorry that the lines seemed to eat all our time." The Italian felt slightly guilty about giving the two a window to speak in privately, but only slightly. Biting her lip, she flashed the woman a smile, adding, "Did Zeke give you a card? Just in case you have any other questions. Any of us can help you." She was indicating herself, Zeke and Zul, knowing well she wouldn't be able to keep her charge out if it if she tried. He apparently had his own motives and means, now.
The demon in question was pleased with the wording, dipping his fingers into the cup he still held and procuring a cube. "She got me ice," he said to his woman rather happily, the cube slowly disappearing this time, his fingertips leaving grooves in the frosty object.
Alex laughed at that. "You're only the second person to do that," she commented with an amused tone of voice. "Guess that means you're stuck on his good list." That alone said much about Anita to her; maybe the demon knew what he was doing when he sent her those fateful items, after all.

Throughout their conversation, Anita was all smiles. It was so obvious she was taken with the demonic Frei; she may not have known a thing about his darker side, the demon soul lurking within, but it wouldn't have mattered to her at all. Zul was Zul and he had to be the greatest Raevan she had ever met.
The brunette turned to spot their third companion returning their way, offering her a quick smile before her attention returned to the Frei before her. "Yeah, they're not very forgiving," Anita chuckled at Zul's comment about the time, stretching with a light sigh, "Don't worry, I'm sure we can work something out for a later date." Anita couldn't help but laugh; the both of them were so eager, namely Zul, that they just stormed right on over. It kind of gave her a warm feeling in her chest, that they had wanted to see her so badly, which had been lingering there since she realized what Zul had sent her.
That feeling grew every day.
Anita's attention seemed to drop momentarily, her eyes looking skyward and her mouth hanging open slightly at Alex's question of a card. "I don't think he did, actually," she laughed, eyes locking with the Italian's. No, she and Zeke had too much time bonding during their first meeting and freaking out about the soul she had captured to worry about the card. That was alright with her, though, Anita fished through her pocket and pulled out her cell phone, "We can exchange here, though. Should be easier to set up something with me, too." It would be a shame for them to come visit her at work again, only for her to be too busy or not even there.
At Alex's mention that only one other person had gotten ice for Zul, Anita frowned; quickly, however, it was replaced with a fond smile and she glanced back to Zul. She wondered idly who the other person was, but that wasn't quite her business. "That's a great place to be stuck," a smirk crossed her features as her eyes were locked on her cell phone's screen, the quiet beep of the buttons chiming quickly as she readied herself for a new contact by inputing the name; [Lab] Alex & Zul just as she had done for Zeke, "What's your number?" she prompted Alex, fingers at the ready. Maybe on one of her days off she could treat Zul to a day at the arcade, just the two of them, but Alex was more than welcomed to join of course!
Maybe spending a day with Zul, one on one, would properly prepare her for her own.

"Heh, most folk aren't forgiving," the Italian agreed with a good-natured quirk of her lips, an amused grin forming, "but I'm grateful for the time, Anita. And the chance to speak with you on a less formal basis." The woman lifted her hand and rested it on the 'sitting' Frei's head, ruffling his hair around the base of his central horn. She laughed at his gentle grumbling response before giving the younger woman a cheerful nod, withdrawing her own cell phone from her hip.
As the two gave their numbers (something Zul still found so weird and yet fascinating as he understood the mechanics of a phone), he lifted the hand not holding the cup of ice to smooth his hair back into place as well as he could. The quiet heat that wafted around his central horn set his creme-to-flame locks back into its perpetual state of disarray, but he was content now. "I'm glad you agree," the demon commented in regards to his 'good list.' To be frank, Zul wasn't certain he had a bad list, but he did have a list of people that he'd go out of his way for. It was short, but the young woman had earned a spot within ten minutes of a first meeting.
The Frei floated upright, taking his cup of ice with him and fishing out another cube between tan fingers. He pressed his thumb through the center, creating a clean hole that left no wetness on his skin, before pressing it into his palm. A brief glance of stretched fingers showed it to be gone; he felt a slight chill as he often did when he was feeding one part of his essence, though it was far from unwelcome. This was a meal of friends. "I hope we can see you again soon, Game Lady Anita." Zul hoped she liked the name; it was likely to never leave her. "Sorry about lunch time and -" he lifted the cup, swiveling his hip to clink the ice around within, "- thanks for mine."
"And mine." With the number secure, Alex slipped the slim phone back into the clip on her jeans pocket, smiling warmly. "Don't hesitate to use the number if you need anything. My cell is on twenty-four seven." Putting her cup on the table, she rounded the gaudy piece of furniture and leaned over to give Anita a friendly hug, ending with a gentle squeeze and a smile that filled her eyes as she murmured softly for the younger woman's ears only. "And thanks for making such a good impression on Zul here. He's nice enough, but impressing him is another thing." She took a step back and picked the cup up again, her free hand withdrawing the cup of ice from her charge's grip, waiting with a patient expression.
Zul realized that 'goodbye' was upon them, and with a look to Anita that clearly said he did not approve of said goodbye, he too floated around the table with his arms slightly spread at his sides. "Until next time?" he offered up amicably, careful not to force a hug on the girl. She'd had to endure kissing and being tearful in her job place - for once in his existence, he'd be considerate of someone else's appearances.
