I do RL commissions but i don't charge insane amounts xD After all, it's not like it's a print or hard copy or something!
I've never really bought art with RL money... D: Money is an issue with me. I don't like "wasting" it even IF the art is amazing. >: I'd just rather invest in something that would benefit me someday
Also. I'm on gaia for a reason XD For art. Great place to get art of characters, etc ~

you can buy art with real money but most people will do dealings like that off of gaia, mainly because its against gaia's Tos to do it on gaia. So most of the time you need to contact them threw pms and then its taken up from there.
Depending on the artist, certain prices would be set. The simpeler the art form the less the artist can hope to get for there art. Though generaly speaking art dosen't sell for real for much money, specially here on gaia, because wanted or not, the general population of gaia are tweens and that kind of big money ain't gonna pop out of know were. So yea expect low enough amounts from gaia. Better results may come from places like deviantart, but again theres more selection tehre so if your not supper good, you might have a hard time selling your stuff there as well. If you were to buy an art piece for 10 dollars, then you can expect that the artist may ask for half of the payment first and the other half once the commission is compleated.

I have bought IRL arts before~ Spent between $5 and about $40, on special arts.
No one buys my arts though~ sweatdrop
I totally followed your link and am probably gonna buy from you~ ninja

I can't afford to buy RL commissions, but I do sell RL commissions. ^^
I don't charge insane prices cause I don't think I'm that good, nor am I in high demand. Usually chibis run around $5-$8, depending on complexity of request. O:

I'm a real life commissioning whore, instead of through Gaia. I'm not marketplace savvy, so I just never really get the large amounts of gold. I would rather just real money- plus the art is generally of high quality and easier to secure a spot. Sometimes fighting out the art whore hordes of Gaia is a bit too much.

I did at an anime convention from a guy dressed like a pirate, it was about 30$ for lined art.
Only problem was that he had a lot of people he had to draw so he emailed me the art like 4 months later and I was just paranoid my money was just stolen I probably wont do that again

I've been buying RL$ commissions for a while now. ^___^ I love receiving originals in the mail ♥♥
Actually, I watch you and was going to commission you not long ago, but I guess that never happened...?
I opened RL$ commissions recently (1-2 weeks ago). n___n I don't have set prices yet, I'm hopeless with pricing... but I've managed to make 3 sales just using notes and discussing prices so for now I'll leave it that way until I have a better idea of pricing, I think. :'D

I've paid $25-$110 on RL commissions. I normally don't go higher than $50, but I wanted the background and everything included in this piece by Taverlyn, so I paid the extra for details and detailed background.
