Name: ynrae’ Aunonia Barrimtor
ynrae = Heretic/Rebel/Riot/Void
' = An apostrophe in the name
Aun = Crypt/Dead/Deadly/Death
onia = Rod/Staff/Token/Wand
Barri = Spawn of
mtor = The abyss

Age: 148
Species: Elf
Race: Drow
Occupation: Demonologist
Religion: Bane
Alignment: Lawful evil
Familiar: Orghul the imp
Appearance:

User Image

Height: 3’4” / 102cm
Weight: 70lbs / 32kg

Even though Aunonia’s over a century old, she looks like a human child would when it’s seen no more than ten summers. However, her reflection and shadow will always show a grown up version of her, usually scaring every other person around her. This is one of the drawbacks for having contracts with devils, which she doesn’t particularly mind or care about.
Aunonia’s hair is white, like spider silk, that she keeps in two curled ponytails. She adorns her hair with a black velvet bow at the back, and black rose clips. Her face is heart shaped, with a cute, slightly curled up nose and lovely big, almond shaped eyes. Her eyes are really standing out, not only are they large, and make her look like a doll, but also are more pink in colour than your average drow, and her ‘whites’ are dark in colour, almost matching her skin.
During her early days, she observed some of the fashions of humans that were sometimes illustrated in her study books. Women seemed to wear puffy, lace and ribbon adorned dresses, with matching socks or stockings and comfortable, yet elegant looking shoes. Aunonia fell in love with the look and requested for the same type of clothing from her tower suppliers that showed up every few months or so.

Personality: Being locked away for her whole life, Aunonia doesn’t have much of a personality. She rarely speaks and almost never shows emotions. The humans that appeared in the tower she lived in, even made jokes about being blessed with good luck if they saw the girl smile. She’s also, very polite and well mannered in general. Never loses her temper, or raises her voice. However she doesn’t care for other people, nor does she care for any material values. Aunonia doesn’t even know what to do with her life, considering it was controlled by others for so long. So you may even say she’s a hollow husk that can speak and think rationally. More of a magical item or creature than a person.
However, even though she seems so calm and collected, her mind is in complete chaos. She hears voices, real voices, mostly from the devils she’s contracted with, or thoughts of other people. Aunonia never dreams, though people have reported to her that she tends to kick, toss and sometimes even scream in her sleep. Though the girl herself doesn’t remember anything in the following morning and feels just fine.

Physical Weakness: She doesn’t know how to fight at all, never being taught such things. Sure, she will use a weapon if she thinks it might aid her in any way, but she has almost no chance in melee combat.
Aunonia’s linked to her imp Orghul, which means if one suffers – so will the other. Which is why both look after each other so much (especially Orghul).

Inventory:

Ceremonial dagger; Journal; Spellbook;

Papyrus of Deception: This enchanted sheet of paper usually looks thick and yellowed with age. However, when used as the basis for a forged document, the papyrus is extremely useful, snce it changes its size, consistency, and appearance to match the mental description of the forger. When used as part of the forgery, papyrus of deception adds a +5 enhancement bonus to the Forgery check. The papyrus can never duplicate a sheet of paper larger than 12 inches on a side or smaller than 3 inches on a side. Papyrus of deception can be reused.
Faint divination; CL 5th; Craft Wondrous Item; read magic; Price 2,000 gp.

Possum Pouch: Also known as a false stomach, a possum pouch is a small, flat, circular bag about 10 to 12 inches in diameter and up to 2 inches thick. When placed against a humanoid’s abdomen and sealed there with a command word, it blends in unobtrusively with the surrounding skin, requiring a DC 30 Search check to detect. Spies and couriers find these items useful as diplomatic pouches, while nobles and wealthy merchants sometimes use them as money belts. Assassins, ninjas, and sneak-thieves love possum pouches because they make it easy to smuggle poison, daggers, and small valuables into or out of well-guarded houses.
Faint illusion; CL 3rd; Craft Wondrous Item; disguise self; Price 1,800 gp; Weight 1 lb.

Spool of Endless Rope: Some adventurers never seem to have enough rope. A spool of endless rope contains an unlimited amount of the finest silk rope, yet the whole spool weighs only a single pound. The spool comes with a belt loop so that it can be hung conveniently at an adventurer’s side.
To use a spool of endless rope, the owner feeds out as little or as much rope as desired, up to a maximum of 500 feet at any one time. When finished with the rope, the owner can simply wind it back onto the spool. (Feeding out or rewinding requires 1 round per 50 feet of rope.)
The rope can’t be entirely separated from the spool, though it can be cut or broken as a normal silk rope can be. Any portion of rope cut away from the spool disappears instantly, but the spool immediately replenishes the missing rope. The rope from a spool of endless rope can be sliced or knotted together with another rope (including a rope from a second spool of endless rope), but the rope can’t be wound back into the spool while so attached.
Moderate conjuration; CL 9th; Craft Wondrous Item, Leomund’s secret chest; Price 2,000 gp; Weight 1 lb.

Vial of the Last Grasp: This is actually the necromantically preserved last breath of some famous figure, trapped in a vial. A vial of the last gasp allow the user to draw strength and knowledge from a dead creature. Anyone who unstoppers the vial and inhales its vapours (the equivalent of drinking a potion) gains 1d8 temporary hit points, a +2 enhancement bonus to Strength, and a +4 insight bonus on checks using one Craft, Knowledge, or Profession skill possessed by the deceased. (However, the vapours in a vial of the last gasp do not allow an untrained user to make use of a trained-only skill.) The creator specifies the skill to which the bonus applies upon creating the item; it is usually the skill in which the deceased has the greatest number of ranks. In addition, the fumes increase the user’s effective caster level by 1. These effects last for 10 minutes.
Faint necromancy; CL 4th; Craft Wondrous Item, death knell; Price 2,200 gp.

Background history:

“Journal date: Day 126, year 89.

Today, master held a special lesson. He asked all six of us to gather up in the summoning room and bring our familiars with us. My cat, Mao, was struggling and refused to talk to me. Which was very unusual. I soon found out why. Once everyone was in the room, master ordered us to draw a summoning circle around ourselves and place our familiars in the centre, while he himself, walked by everyone and gave a sacrificial dagger. I’m not dense. I realised where this was going. It was the day when we’d finally get our first demonic contract. I just never realised, that I’d have to say goodbye to Mao this way. He didn’t ran. He just sat there, looking up at me. Mao knew what was about to happen. We both knew, after all, our minds were linked for over a decade. I was about to sacrifice my best and only friend to the devils for the sake of greater power. And there was no way either of us could stop it. I wanted to cry, but I couldn’t. It was the way we were taught – never show emotions, they make you weak. And as my heart beat rapidly in my small chest, I bid my last goodbyes to Mao and thrust my dagger through his tiny heart.
As I was still panting heavily from the unpleasant moment that just occurred, I soon saw a new figure rising from the body of my dead friend. It didn’t look anything like my Mao. It was ugly and scaly, with thick, leathery red skin, and wings to match it. Sure, it was small, but it still didn’t look like anything I’d enjoy keeping even as a pet. The master soon approached me and applauded. ‘Congratulations, Aunonia! It appears that you were the luckiest of all. Meet your new familiar – the imp.’ ”

“Journal date: Day 53, year 148.

I gave Orghul a very unusual task earlier today. I asked him to bring me answers about the very first years of my childhood, since I can’t remember it at all. I wouldn’t say I particularly care about it, it’s just that I think every piece of information I gather is important in some way. And what better way to start off, than myself?
Surprisingly, it didn’t take him as long as I thought it might. Seems like my spiritual scribe isn’t as hard to contact as I figured. The information Orghul retrieved was quite interesting, to put it simply. It appears that the matron of house Barrimtor took me, and the other five of my study comrades through-out the years, as spoils of war, when we were still toddlers. Apparently the woman had a plan, to lock all six of us in a tower in the surface world, far away from our society, and obviously – her enemies, and grow herself a group of powerful wizards, or to be precise – demonologists. With only one goal – to serve and obey house Barrimtor. Well, congratulations, matron! Your plan seems to be working just fine. Because as far as I’m concerned, this is the only life I have seen. Linking my existence to the devils, and spending the rest of my life learning and fighting for someone else. Simply put, I’m a soulless puppet, for my creator to play around with.
Orghul actually seemed a bit concerned about all of this. I don’t blame him, the imp is at risk by serving me like this. Myself? Honestly, I don’t care as much as your average person probably would. Then again, I don’t really know your average person, being locked away in a tower all of my life. But it’s fun making assumptions, isn’t it? But yes, what I’m trying to say is, I’ve been living this life for so long, that I can’t see it any other way, therefore, it doesn’t shock me. But it is something I want to keep in mind. Something that’ll remind me, that I could’ve had a different life.”

“Journal date: Day 108, year 148.

I finally got the chance to sit down and write an entry. The last few days weren’t exactly pleasant, to put it one way. The grand master’s contract ended not long ago, and the devil he had it with showed up to collect his soul. Unsurprisingly, the man tried to fight his fait. Silly, human, he knew what he was getting himself into, and from studying demons and devils and their behaviour for a ‘while’, even little old me, can tell you that you won’t fool a devil so easily. Considering the creature is probably as old as the world itself, and has seen many fools in his life, the man didn’t stand a chance. The only thing I’m slightly angry about, is that due to his foolish and stubborn ways, Kobal the devil, took an extra four lives with him. ‘Is there a way to spare my soul, Kobal?’ the master asked. ‘Of course. I’ll just take five of the seven souls that I see here, and be on my way.’ Kobal answered as if this all was a game to him, which is probably true. Old man got fooled, served him right. However, four of my life long comrades sacrificed their lives with master’s as well. Shame. They were rather good scholars, and they were the only people I knew my entire life. Yet, I don’t feel sad. I’m just displeased with how it all turn out. Oh well. I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later. I mean, our whole lives were in the hands of other people anyway. Silly of me to be saying this though, because now I am running for the very same life. You see, after the pleasant visit of the devil Kobal, the tower just started to fall apart on the spot. All I managed to grab were a few useful magical items, food supplies, some necessary travelling equipment and this journal. Orghul kept whining the whole time, how I’m wasting time and should just get out of there before we both died in there. I didn’t pay much attention.
Anyway, I’ve finally managed to find a decent shelter for the time being. I would’ve gladly stayed close to the tower and scout the ruins for anything else that might come in handy, but humans and even a few different types of elves were sniffing around that place for decades already. Surely, the noise and dust from such an enormous building collapsing would’ve attracted groups of unnecessary attention by now. Which is why I had to flee as soon as possible. I may be strong, but I can’t take on a large amount of targets at once. Not yet at least. I’m not sure what happened to the other boy that didn’t get killed by Kobal, but I honestly don’t care. Trust no one. Believe in no one, but yourself. That’s what we all were taught from as far as I can remember.
So... This is what it’s like to be free, isn’t it? It’s odd, I’ll say that much. After living by someone else’s rules for over a century, it does go to your head, you know. Which is why I’m not exactly sure what to do next. I have two choices. To stay here, in the surface world, basically on the run for the rest of my life. We drow aren’t exactly liked here enough as it is, and with my profession, I’ll be lucky if I don’t get burned alive for heresy. And the second option would be, is to actually try and get back to my roots, my homeland – the underground caverns of my fellow drow. Of course, as far as my knowledge goes, we’re not the kind of people to get along even with our own kind. But hey, from whence you came you shall remain, right? So even if I do end up dead there, or even on the way, at least I’ll have the idea of ‘home’ inside my head. Hah.”
