Hello, MPC. My name is Angel, [*Hi, Angel.*] and I am addicted to liquid - assets that is. Yup. Pure. The strong stuff.
I have a quest I am working on, plus a big wishlist, too.
My question is, what seems to be the best thing to invest in that would be easy to sell in a hurry? I get rather confused at trying to figure out what and when to buy and sell. Maybe I should hoard the Mad Hatter hats? Am I too late to hoard the '09 caroling set? I have 200 + Sven the penguins to deal with, too. Sell them? Keep them for four years and sell for Christmas? What about the crystal boxes I have as well? Open? Sell? Keep? If so, for how long? emo

The problem with liquid assets, a/k/a pure, is that as the Gaian economy inflates, it becomes less and less valuable. You need some liquid working capital so you can take advantage of opportunities, but if you're looking at a long term quest, you need to preserve the value of your assets by converting them into items whose values go up with inflation.
About Selling In A Hurry: almost anything can be sold in a hurry. Just price it low enough. Believe me, if you priced an Angelic Halo at 1 million, it would be sold so fast you'd have to run to catch up.
All investing carries an element of risk. Items which have a limited supply, like MCs, carry a bit less risk because they don't have the possibility (probability, in the case of RIG items) of being rereleased which causes prices to fall rapidly.
That's not to say you can't make a nice profit off RIG items. It's just that you have to be aware of the risks and know when you want to sell.
I don't think it's too late to pick up the 09 Caroling Sets, especially if you shop carefully over the summer, when there are many bargains on Holiday Items to be found. However, it's been my experience that holiday items take two years to show a decent profit, so if you do buy them, be prepared to hold them until 2011.
There are lots of other basic guides in the guild, and I hope they also help!

Hummmm. Maybe I will get some of the more popular MCs - silver laurels, aquatica, elegant veil, as investments. Some of the more recent little things like the hatter's hat or anniversary slippers seem good, too.
I'll have to search around in the guides and things. Thanks.
Anyone else want to add their two gold?

Well, I have gotten a bunch of MCs and event items and cheap sponsor items.
Should I sell my crystal boxes and sven penguins?? @.@
And ... the Rich Camp stacks of gold item shot up to 45 or 50 gold. should I save the one I got, or sell it fast, too? #.#

Are they still giving out the Sven the penguins and crystal boxes? Prices tend to go up after an item is discontinued. I haven't checked the Gaia Cash Cards at Walmart lately to see if the Sven is still one of the bonuses (this is why I always buy cash cards when I want GC - might as well get the freebie too).
Only you can decide at what level you're happy with your profit and decide to sell. If someone has temporarily AI'd an item, it can be a good idea to try to sell, then buy it back cheaper later.

Yes. They are still giving out penguins and crystal boxes. I don't know what to do. x.x
Also, I hesitated on the stacks of gold. The price has gone down again, so I bought another and 1 k less than the one I bought two days before. xp I guess I missed ~ 30 to 40 k profit there.
