The world is confusing. I had no clue what my talent was or what I would do when high school was over. Everytime people questioned about my future goals, I always had to tell them "I don't know." James hassaled me the most about it. He was studying archaeolgy. "To must dust." Leo was studying Engineering. "Ick." And Tom already has his mind set to studying Marine Biology. "Too complicated for my short attention span."
I had no clue what I was good at. I did fairly well in all my classes, but lacked interest. I couldn't draw like the Creators, swim like the Water Nymphs, study for long periods like the Wizards, write something worthy for human eyes like the Scribes, or command attention like the Fashion Zombies. There was nothing I had to show the world. Everytime this topic came to mind, tears would come out for no reason. I always wondered why I upseted myself with such a small thing. I guess I feared that I wouldn't be able to survive in the world and would turn to a life of crime. "Crime, you know I hate it."
Graduation would be in a few months and I had no clue what I would do.
I walked along the California beach. I wished I was back home at the Atlantic side. The Pacific felt strange. In Cali the waves are bigger and I'm terrified to even go in the water. The wind blew through my brown, straightened hair. I held the bottom of my long summer dress in one hand and my black flip flops in the other. My shell hoops dangled on each ear. Eventually I found a quite spot on a rock close to the shore. I faced the waves. My eyes closed and my spirit, mind and heart relaxed. For minutes I drifted through my thoughts until I heard someone’s voice. I opened my eyes and turned around. It was Zéj standing on a large rock behind me.
“Kelly is it?”
“Dats right.” I said still drowsy facing him.
I closed my eyes for only about 10 seconds. When they opened, Zéj was gone. I turned toward the sea and he was right infront of me. I was startled and started to fall off the rock. Luckily Zéj caught me or else I could have suffered a serious concussion.
“Careful.”
I felt uncomfortable. There I was minding my own business when this boy comes, scares the crap out of me and then saves me. I looked into his emerald eyes. He looked like a bad boy on the outside, but on the inside he seemed.... different. Again he seemed unhuman.
"T'anks"" I managed to say as he helped me to my feet.
"So, what are you doin here?"
"Just walking around. I saw you and thought I'd say hi."
He's the only one whose actualy ineterested in talking to me. I guess since we're both new we have to stick together.
"Well...its been fun..."
"You looked trouble. What were you thinking about?"
I bit my bottom lip. He made me think again; reminded me that I had no future. Zéj saw my troubled expression.
"Its nothing." I said sadly walking away from him to the shore; letting the tide wash across my feet.
He followed.
"My heart and soul are like water; constantly changing shape. And don' like it."
A tear fell from each of my eyes as I felt the world around me turn dark. I felt cold. But then I felt something embrace me. It wasn't hands. It felt like satin and gave off something dark; something unnatural. I didn't run. Instead I allowed the darkness to take me in.
