Triton padded slowly back to the den he shared with Bryna, his eyes blissfully scanning the area ahead for any hint of stormsilver grey that might indicate Bryna's presence up ahead. He had been fond of her for quite some time true...but since they had settled in Draug those feelings had become stronger and the burly blue wolf often found himself looking forward to evening when he would return to their den and hope to find her there as well.
Settling felt good to Triton, sure he'd left his home pack searching for adventure - and had found Bryna instead, but their seasons of travel had worked the adventurous spirit out of him it seemed and he was more then happy to settle in a pack such as this - they seemed good hearted and had interesting goals. Goals he had agreed to be a part of...well as long as she wished to stay as well of course.

Their den was empty, but Bryna sighed and barely contained her anxiety and annoyance. She had wanted to discuss this with him, but he wasn't here. Of course. Bryna liked getting her thoughts off of her mind as soon as she could, she didn't like to stew in them, but that was what she was going to have to do. As she settled down to wait for him, laying out at the entrance of their (hopefully permanent) new home, Bryna's tail flipped around in agitation and her eyes slowly examined the area around her in a continuous circuit so that she wouldn't miss the first sight of him coming her way. Where would he have gone? Had he, like her, wanted to clear his head? Or perhaps he was meeting other pack members. The former could mean he was anxious to move on, but the latter could prove a good sign for them staying.
We will discuss it like adults. Neither of us are flighty adolescents. She hesitated at the reminder of why she had met Triton to begin with. Wanderlust has had time to fade.
Movement between the trees drew her attention and her eyes locked on the blue pelt heading her way. She would be noticeable to him as well by now, even assuming her bright coat had been in enough shade to dull the color, and so she sat up as he drew closer. He didn't seem agitated, she decided as she studied his movements. He steps were as sure as usual. He could reach the cave before she would speak to him; there was no sense in calling out at this distance to begin. That would just be silly.

"Ah victory!" He spoke softly to himself, falling into old habits again as he saw her rise when he drew closer. Her silver pelt stood out against the darker backdrop of the forest and any fool of a male would find the sight pleasing...and on that thought Triton glanced around slightly, not exactly sure how he felt about anyone else oogleing Bryna - not that he was the jealous type...of course he wasn't! He told himself firmly placing a warm look on his face as he came into conversation range.
"You look like you have allot on your mind" He commented when he got a better look at her, that could be either a good thing or a bad thing Triton knew. Bryna had a way of over thinking things sometimes - at least as far as he was concerned. Triton was more the roll with the punches sort of wolf most of the time. "Anything you want to talk about?" He asked wondering if whatever it was plaguing her thoughts might be eased with him as a sounding board - it had helped before.

"I met HanGeng today, the Beta male. Draug Faroth is still looking for a female Beta." She met Triton's eyes steadily. "He offered me the position if we were going to stay. I told him I needed to talk to you first." She tilted her head slightly, trying to gauge his reaction to the news. Triton was more even-tempered than she was, she had the feeling he wouldn't over-react the way he thought she did, but that didn't mean he wouldn't feel pressured.
"I've been wandering for a long time. HanGeng's offer is tempting and rare." She smiled slightly. "But I didn't want to accept before I spoke to you about what you wanted to do. We've been here for several days now," definitely more than several days, "We've met the pack and seen how Haku runs it."
Her tail waved back and forth slowly. No matter how the conversation went, she wasn't going to let it bother her too greatly. This was a great opportunity and she certainly hoped Triton was willing to settle down, but if he wasn't ready then she would go with him wherever their paws took them. Bryna was the pack type. At one point Triton had had a pack, but he'd made it clear over time that he had left-- as he'd told her from the get-go-- to find adventure and see new places. That claim was several seasons old now, though. That was the only reason Bryna had her doubts about whether he still wanted to travel.
"What do you think? Would you want us to stay here? Or do you want to keep on traveling? There will be other packs in the future to settle down with when we're ready, I'm sure, so this certainly isn't the only option."

Triton felt his jaw tighten slightly as Bryna mentioned speaking with HenGeng the beta...that he'd offered his fellow silver wolf the beta position, but he tried to keep the look off his face, Bryna was free to choose whomever she wanted to right? And if this Beta wanted her to be beta too, then who was he to stop her? Bryna deserved to be beta....He was still running these thoughts through his mind when he registered the rest of her comments.
....oh. Well. Nevermind then, the silver male had not propositioned Bryna like Triton had first assumed...just offered her a job. Well that was great! And made his own news even more fun to tell. His tail waved slowly back and forth as he settled nearby her with a warm look on his face. "Well now...it seems we've both been offered a job then, Haku propositioned me with the job of Hunting Trainer...I told him I'd love the job but had to talk to you first obviously...to see if you wanted to stay." The blue wolf chuckled slightly "My its almost like they arranged this now isn't it?"

Bryna gave a broad grin and sat down next to him, straight-backed but relaxed as only she ever seemed capable of doing. "I doubt they planned it with any duplicity in mind. But you wanted to stay then," she repeated, just to confirm it to herself, and to him. "And you would have your own position in the pack. That's wonderful, Triton."
She wagged her tail. "Then... we'll stay."
Silence fell for a moment, letting them think as they needed, before Bryna added, "You are my pack. The two of us made our own home even when we were traveling. If you really hadn't wanted to stay, we wouldn't have." She looked over to him, icy eyes sincere.

"Perhaps not" He agreed in an amused tone "But it is certainly a coincidence" he concluded, beaming at her as she spoke of his new position "Yes, and you be a beta..as you are suited to be. I am to train the pack to hunt as one - it's an interesting proposition, almost as adventure in itself" He told her, nodding his head in agreement as she declared they would stay. Excellent.
"And I would never had stayed had you not wished to do so" He told her just as sincerely "My wanderlust has been fulfilled I think, but I would have kept moving if you did not want to settle quite yet" His voice trailed off for a moment before he continued on "I ..ah...don't think I want to be in a pack without you in it" Oh smooth Triton, he thought to himself - but well she had to have some idea of his feelings right? Its not like he'd kept them completely underwraps..he'd just never come out and really said it. Well until now anyways.

Bryna eyed him seriously, almost curiously, then reached out and rested her chin on his shoulder, lowering her voice accordingly so she wouldn't deafen him by speaking so close to his ear.
"Are you sure you're as good with charming females as you used to think you were?" She smiled slightly and gave a little shake of her head. "That was a little too rough to be called charm."
Her tail was wagging, however, and she sighed softly afterward. "Pack has always been the most important thing to me. I think we both know we've been pack for a long time." She glanced up, but didn't move her head from his shoulder. "And that we went from pack to mates somewhere along the way. Unofficially anyway. Right?"

Triton scoffed good naturedly at Bryna's comment although his heart soared hen she placed her head on his shoulder, puffing up his chest a little he tipped his head to look down at her. "What...I'm still charming - with everyone else - you just dazzle all the charm out of me' He told her with a smug look. Then ducked away slightly as though expecting her to cuff him with her paw for that remark. Yeah..so he wasn't the smooth talking ladies man he'd once thought himself to be, but hey that was maturing for you.
In all seriousness Triton settled down the humor and nodded slowly and sincerely "I do think it sort of crept up on us in our travels" He agreed 'Not that I"m complaining at all, quite the opposite"

"I doubt either of us were planning it, unless you have something to tell me," she agreed. He did make her relax, that was a good thing, and smile. He wasn't exactly what she was expecting from any future mate-- which is probably why it developed without either of them actively acknowledging it-- but she couldn't say he wasn't good for her now. And he had his own brand of dominance, which was... an odd comfort. She wouldn't have been able to handle a male who couldn't stand up to her when he needed to.
"Our pack duties won't conflict with our mating, or the other way around. Haku wouldn't mind, but I don't want us to let it affect a major decision somewhere down the line, either for us or for the pack. I do find it comforting that we'll both be in strong positions, though. It will keep either of us from feeling guilty or worried over forcing the other into a place we don't want."

Triton gave her a 'who me?' look though they both knew the truth of the matter - if he had planned it, it probably would have failed. Things like this just tended to happen - something which Triton, though he wouldn't admit it found somewhat romantic. Wouldn't his mother be proud though? She'd always wanted him to have a good solid mate, someone he could depend on and talk with, but had probably lost all hope of it actually happening during his youthful phase. Ah well.
"Of course not" He agreed "We will try to balance it all properly, we've done pretty well so far" He pointed out even if they hadn't know what it was exactly they were doing - leave it to Bryna to try and tackle this like a tactical problem to overcome, plan plan plan..that was his Bryna. The thought almost made Triton chuckle. His Bryna - he rather liked the sound of that. "And I think we're both agreeing on staying - it is a good pack, with good morals and good wolves"

"We have done well together." She lifted her head from his shoulder to nod and leaned away from him. "I can't imagine we won't do even better when we have a pack and no worried about how we'll finish our next hunt."
She glanced at their den. It would do them for quite a long time, even with the distant future of puppies to look forward to. If, indeed, they were looking forward to them. Bryna thought she could be... eventually. Obviously it would be silly for them to have them now, but once they had established themselves and came to an equal agreement on the matter there wouldn't be a reason not to have pups.
"Good morals and good wolves are an ideal environment for raising pups," she thought aloud. "When the pack has grown a little and we've settled in, that will be a benefit for us."

"We have, and we shall do even better now" Triton agreed with a slight bob of his head "And I don't think I'll miss sleeping in the cold and the rain when we couldn't find shelter" He commented in a wry tone. That had happened more then once that he could recall and he had never found it a fun experience.
Triton was somewhat lost in this trip down memory lane and nearly failed to catch her last remark, but his ears perked somewhat when he caught the word 'puppies'. Puppies? Did she want them? well she wouldn't bring them up if she didn't right? "Yes...yes it will, and certainly something to look forward too" Triton told her in a warm tone. Puppies - Triton loved puppies, they were so..so bouncy and happy! He couldn't help the goofy look that crossed his face.

She nodded as he mentioned their shelter arrangements prior to Draug Faroth, then her forehead wrinkled with surprise as she eyed him and his sudden cheerfulness over the prospect of puppies. Well, at least he would be an attentive father, not like other males who would balk at the thought of a family so soon or at having to take care of the pups too. It was the logical progression of things, there was no reason to pretend it wasn't a possibility. Judging from the look on his face, however, Triton seemed to be rather eager, as if he was expecting them to start having them right off.
"Later, yes." Bryna smiled slightly, but was quick to fend off any misunderstanding. "Not for a while yet, of course. Settling in will take some time."
For now, her belly was off-limits to babies. She had work to do, and that would require her full attention for now. She couldn't devote her full attention if she were busy having pups and then devoting several weeks to watching over them and protecting them as they grew. Her smile turned a little sappy as well as her eyes met his, if just for a moment. Still... bundles of fur, their little bundles of fur, wasn't a thought she was likely to frown on. The more she thought of it, the more she liked it. Besides, she had jumped into unknown situations before for the good of others. Why not jump into an unknown situation for her own good, and Triton's? It would happen when it happened-- and she would be pleased as a peeper when it did.

Triton shook his head a little bit to fend off the memories of playing with the pups of his former pack and gave Bryna a sheepish smile "Sorry, kinda drifted off there" He admitted "But yes of course, we need to settle in - gain a handle on our pack responsibilities and the like" He agreed though he wasn't really sure if puppies could ever be planned for really...I mean was anyone ever really truly ready to be a parent? And other wolves seemed to handle having pups as well as pack responsibilities just fine.
But of course those were just Bryna's way of not freaking out over the prospect...or maybe not freaking him out, who knew really, regardless Triton was of the opinion that if it happened it happened and he'd be ecstatic when it did. They would be cute little bundles of fluffy fur though he thought with that goofy grin slipping back onto his face for a moment before he managed to wipe it off and clear his throat. "Right well, has Haku spoken to you about any o he other members in the pack yet?"
