Chandra leaped and played in the forest, the fallen logs were perfected to practise her new wings. And with each jump she fluttered and flapped her little wings as fast as she could in an effort to fly. She was getting there now, months of strengthening her muscles was paying off though she hasn't yet fully mastered flight and landings it was much improved. Now she could at least reach the top of the tree line on her own and look out of the world. Yet as always Chandra wanted more, she wanted to be able to fly as high as the rest of her 'breed' after all the Angeni are known for being able to fly great heights. Her father could.

Again and again she practised. She would master this skill even if it killed her.

Sonnet had disapeared off to a place he thought was well away from everyone. Not usually prone to running off, especially not leaving his sister, she needed him, no one else understood her. But he had wanted to work on this without even her knowing. He didn't know why but she could already fly up into tree branches, he could barely glide. So that is why he had charged off to what he thought was a deserted part of the forest. Running along, wings flapping like crazy. When that didn't work like he hoped he started running and jumping, but that resulted in a short glide at best. After a while he gave up on these 2 ideas and found a fallen tree to climb on and jump off. Still not really getting anywhere but least now he got some air under his wings.

Chandra started to drift back towards the ground when she saw someone below trying to do the same thing she was -fly. The younger looking foal was very pretty in colour and reminded her of a filly she had met not to long ago, perhaps it was her? Before she landed she called out, "Star?" For that was the nickname she had gifted her due to her silent ways. "Is that you?" As always Chandra had a beaming smile upon her face, her white teeth sparkling through her dark pelt.

As she got closer and eventually landed she knew instantly this wasn't her friend, "you're not Star" She cocked her head a little to the left and looked at the youn colt as she took in the differences, perhaps they where siblings? They looked more alike than her and her siblings but she had seen many who looked almost like twins.

Trying to forget about that for a moment and back to what she had been watching before her curiousity had been peeked, "So are you trying to fly also? My Daddy taught me...." if she was being honest she would have mentioned that she was still learning and that her sister was much better than she was. Eitehr way she was determined to fly as well as her father could -to the stars.

Sonnet had literally just jumped when someone called out for star, whoever that was. The mix of surprise at there being someone else around and confusion at who this Star was he totally missed trying to fly and landed with a bump on his behind. Looking up only to gape a little, seeing a filly that was a little older than him, but she was like the stars at night, stairing for a moment before he realised she was talking to him. "I'm sorry..." Still a little confused, apologising for stairing at her, though he was still looking at her, pretty sure he had never seen her before. "My dad doesn't have wings....." Still sat on his rump where he landed trying to organise his thoughts but most were buried under the one question he was wanting to ask. "Who's Star?" Thinking it must be her with all the stars on her.

"Star?" She cocked her head before giggling, "...well at first I thought it was you, she is a friend of mine. A filly about your age I think who couldn't talk so I call her Star. I like the stars." She wiggled her rump a little, oblivious to the young colt falling on his rump or even that he was still down there, she just assumed that he was comfortable.
[12:57] Sya: Oh wait I pressed the wrong button there is more... XD
[12:59] Sya: "My Mum doesn't have wings either," she smiled softly offering him a small smile, it seemed that they had something in common there. So if his Father didn't fly that must mean his Mother did. Yet since he didn't mention her she felt it would be rude to ask and so skipped over the topic as she stepped forward and offered him one more cheeky yet warming smile, "My name is Chandra. If you want maybe I could help you try to fly? My Dad is like an expert.... he has helped lots of foals and adults to learn."

Wiggling her tail she skipped to his side and then softly tried to get the colt to his feet.

Standing and shaking off the leaves that had stuck in his tail, looking at her smiling at him, offering a slightly wonky one of his own. "She sounds like my sister, but shes called Symphony, or Sym..." Wondering why Sym had never mentiond meeting this starry girl, but then she had met others he didn't know, the brother of one of her friends having chased him off from talking to the young filly. "I'm Sonnet..." Smiling properly at the mention of flying lessons, his little face brightening up, going from unsure to happy. "You would teach me? Really!!"

"Symphony....." She looked up as if trying to think about it, it would be possible but since she had no way of knowing for sure she couldn't confirm or deny his suggestion, "... it could be! Though she didn't talk so I can't tell you for sure." She chirped before kicking off the ground and fluttering a little so that she was standing before him. As he spoke his name she bowed her head softly, "it is a pleasure to meet you Sonnet." Raising herself again -like a lady- she looked around to make sure there was enough room, it was something her father always did, granted his wings where much bigger than both of their put together.

"Of course I would teach you," she chirped again before assuming the same puffed out chest and stance her father always did. It was fun to imitate him, after all she wished that one day she would gain the same level of respect that his mere presence seemed to demand. "Ok, before you can fly you need to warm up." She began to wiggle each leg, each feather before standing still and taking in several deep and long breaths. "Do you feel Relaxed Sonnet?"

Sonnet nodded, thinking this sounds like his sister. If it was Sym then it would be nice to have a friend in common. Smiling at her and bobbing in a small bow back to her. "Its nice to meet you too Chandra. Star sounds like Sym... shes allot like me, but her wings are darker purple than mine." Wiggleing his mane wings. "And she has a white star over one eye and stripes like our dad." Not that she would know what their dad looked like.

Watching as she puffed up her chest, wondering what that was all about, but listening to her, not having had a single lesson she would know more than him about flying. "Warm up... ok..." Watching her wiggle her legs and doing the same, giving all his legs a good wiggle, then flapping all his wings in turn and giving them a stretch, nudging some slightly out of place feathers from his graceful landing earlier, not really knowing what or how he was ment to look after his wings either. But maybe she would teach him that too if he asked her nicely. Smiling at her after all the wiggleing was done and the deep breahts. "Ummm I feel more excited actually... is that bad?" Wanting to bounce around with the excitement of having his first flying lesson.

"Ah...." was the only noise to escape her lips as he spoke about his sister, although she could not be 100% sure that it was his sister it did sound like. Although she had to admit that she had not noticed the star and she had no idea who their father was, but from the tone of his voice it seemed that he too loved and repected his father. Was that just something all foals inherited? A love for their fathers? It was a curious notion and one she would have to explore at a later date.

Watching him as he copied her wiggling she suddenly felt the pressure of what she was about to do. Of course she remembered what she had been taught but prefecting it was another thing. Maybe doing it in front of another out of her family would give her the strength she needed? She could only hope.

Giving him a cheeky grin at his answer she let out a soft giggle, "Well that works too!" After all she had been so excited when her father had told her it was time to learn to fly. It felt like she was already soring high in the sky with the clouds. How she longed to feel the sun upon her pelt. The rain from passing through a cloud. Chasing a rainbow.... oh the adventures that awaited her made everything seem multicoloured.

Ok... she took a deep breath and counted to three in her head while she ran over her first lesson with her father. "So... you need to spread your wings out wide to begin with." She did so, feeling the gentle stretch and flexing of her little yet strong wings. "Before you can fly high you need to be able to... float." It was the word she had always used, granted her father had called it 'gliding' but floating just seemed more, angelic to her. And with a flash of her white teeth in the form of a smile she kicked off with her rear legs to allow her to have some lift while she turned her wings softly to allow the flow of air to rumble under them as she floated away from him and landed just a little way away. "See!" She chirped. She was oblivious to the fact she had missed out little things. She had been floating for a while and in a way just assumed it was easy and second nature.

Standing and listening carefully, blushing a little from admitting he was excited rather than relaxed. But then he never thought he would have someone to teach him to fly. When he was alone he would probably run around yelling happily, but to do that now would be really embarassing. He might only be small but he didn't like feeling embarassed, he often felt awkward enough as it was.

Nodding as he listend, not really dairing to talk in case he missed something that was important. Not sure what floating was at first, looking confused for a moment, repeating in his own mind. 'Float before fly, float before fly...' Seeing her launch herself into the air and drift away. His eyes going wide, not having a clue really how she had done it but she made it look easy and graceful.

Taking a deep breath guessing it was his turn to try, puffing out his chest and then breathing out. Shuffleing his hooves nervously, not having found much if any grace in himself, it had taken ages till he could walk without waddleing like a duck or falling over. He just didn't seem to have much co-ordination or strength. But he was gonna get strong like his father, he was going to learn to fly and protect his sister and other people and and other stuff! Puffing out his chest again, looking all determind as she spread his little wings wide, as far as they could go. Bending his back legs as he crouched down to get a good jump, and launching himself upwards.

Now he realised something was wrong a split second before letting out a yell and landing in a less than graceful bellyflop into the mud. Relaxing his wings after he crashed, not having relaxed them at all, they had been ramrod stiff so no air had been caught. There was also the fact that his wings lacked strength, unlike his sister he hadn't run around flapping them as soon as realising he had them. No one else he knew had them other than his sister so he hadn't really known what to do with them or what they were for. He had just done what the others did, and the others were all wingless. But seeing that his sister could get into a tree had made him want to do the same, so he had started to try to fly. And so here he was...

Looking up at his teacher as he scrambles to his feet, mostly covered in mud now, though he didn't really notice. "I'll try again!" Not about to give up, though he was a little disheartend, walking had taken time and this would too. Going back to the starting point to try again.

Chandra watched as the colt tried to follow her instructions he strangely reminded her of Mal her baby brother -he always tried to fly despite the fact he didn't have any wings. Interesting. Was it a boy thing? Of course not her father could fly afterall and he was very good at -but she had never asked him if he had had trouble learning? She knew all too well that it was hard and she was still trying to master that particular skill. It would happen. It would have to.

Yet the mud that was no upon his face and body reminded all too well of what she tended to look like after one of her adventures somehow she always seemed to get muddy, strangely she thought it felt nice, except when it dried out and went all crispy that just made it a pain to get out of her hair and off her pelt. Granted being dark coloured she tended to get away with it more than her sister Io who really did look to light to be covered. That and Io didn't like to be dirty much. Mud washed off, why worry about it. And oh how Chandra loved her baths. Another advantage of living near a lake.

As he spoke she resisted laughing and nodded, "you can do it!" She had to admit that he was rather funny looking covered in mud. Just like her faviourite fairy tail The Ugly Duckling she knew that without it he was quite pretty.... for a boy! Remembering the little mistakes that he had made that was obvious down to her poor instructions she walked towards him and spoke softly, "Relax your wings, you need to allow the air to ruffle your feathers and push you up." She offered him an encouring smile.

Looking at Chandra, Sonnet stands, listening to her advice, he needed to relax, spread wide but relaxed... Ok he could definately try that. Giving a wonky unsure smile. "Ok I'll try that this time." Not seeming to care he was covered in mud, but then again he percieved himself much as he felt. He had never seen all of himself as the most he could look at was his head in the lake. As far as he was aware he was gangly, awkward and uncoordinated. Just assuming that came over in how he looked.

Jumping up and down a few times, flaping his wings, trying to work out what they felt like with air under them. Doing this several times, not really gettign any height but gradually he would get more, starting to feel the air under his wings and in his feathers. Smiling as he noticed this, seeming to get more excited.

fter he was done with the jumping he walked around a little but, like he was warming up for some great feat. Stopping finally and gettign ready to launch himself, spreading his wings out but not as stiff as before. Wiggleing a little as he crouched slightly and tensed up. Springing forward with his hind legs, wings spread, feeling the air catch in them. Trying to keep that feeling of being pushed up. Managing to clear the puddle this time. Though he didn't glide as far as Chan had. Landing with a lack of grace that showd how new he was to this. Looking up after he had staggered around and caught his balance.
