Everyone gets a chance to win one of the first smexy Svanhild Clan's Fafners.
Like any other RP prompt, we're looking for creativity and originality as well as organization and structure (meaning we expect to see few if any spelling/grammar mistakes). You can even make up crazy creatures and/or contraptions to make your story more interesting, but do remember that a few things can be considered too crazy (but such things are few and far between). Length is of little importance, although it's doubtful that you'll be able to answer the prompt properly in only a few sentences. So start showing us your creative writing skills!

Rules
1. Each person can submit ONE entry (response) per prompt.
2. Each response can only be a maximum of 5,000 words.

Restrictions
1. You are only allowed to receive a total of ONE Fafner from all the Contests.
2. If you win more than one Contest, you can choose which Fafner you want -- the other one will be given to a runner-up.
3. You can give the Fafner you win to someone else, but ONLY to someone who participated in the same Contest that you won the Fafner from.

You can answer one or both of the following prompts (but you are only allowed one response per prompt):

Prompt 1
There is a growing desire in you to cross Lake Gunner's river, to the other side where the grass is green and the flowers bloom... but most importantly, to meet someone outside of the Svanhild Clan. In fact, it's been such a long time since anyone in your Clan has seen any other Fafners. You've decided! So you cross the river and enter the Attila Plains. What are your feelings as you explore this new scenery? And as you explore bravely, you encounter another Fafner... who is he or she? Tell me the story of your adventures!

Prompt 2
Lake Gudrun has dried up and the Clan has started to migrate towards Lake Gunner. However, a few hours into your travels, you notice that your Child brother/sister is nowhere to be seen! Since your parents are preoccupied with their new fluff Babies, you bravely go back to find her. What has happened to her? What do you find when you finally get to do? Do you even get to her? Write an RP response about how you face the desert to find your younger sibling!

It was dusk when I set out on my journey. The sun’s rays were painting the sky in many shades of violet. The ground was warm against my feet, but already cooling from the burning of the day now that the sun wasn’t shining in full force. It was the perfect time to travel. I had prepared just a small bundle of only a few of our store of food to take with me, I could replenish my supply as I went along and crossed into the Attila Plains, I was certain. The first two days of my trek were uneventful; I crossed the river with little trouble at all, and managed to catch myself a rather lazy fish. It was when I entered a grassy portion of the plains on the fourth day where I encountered something different. The creature was small, furry like us, but quick. It was also apparently very curious. It kept darting towards me and only giving me a glimpse of pale fur before dashing away through the tall grass again. It continued like this until the sun had moved three paces in the sky, until it seemed to leave. I continued on my way only to stumble into it yet again; this time face to face. It was such a funny creature. Small, like I said, but such a long bushy tail. And that tail, the little beast actually curled it up, and used the tail to raise itself up into the air to look at me! It didn’t speak though. The moment I opened my mouth to say something, it took off again, and this time I did not see it again. But I did hear rustling in the grass nearby after that, I think it was watching me from a safe distance.

It was on the sixth day, when I was returning towards the river again, that I encountered another Fafner like us. It was so strange; I didn’t even think he was really there at first. His fur was a blue color, like the sky, and his eyes looked at me so coldly. He asked me why I was in his clan’s lands, when I am obviously not one of them. I only stared at him, imprinting his color into my mind so I wouldn’t forget it. His jewels were such a vivid yellow, and his hair was dark. I don’t think he took to my scrutiny well because he demanded again “Why are you here!?” He did look threatening, so I stepped back a little and lowered myself to sit down. I told him I was merely exploring, looking for his clan to see more Fafners like us. He didn’t seem to believe me. So, I asked him. “Do I look like I am from a place where many live?” Yes, yes you shouldn’t judge from how we look but to an outsider, we are smaller. He was larger than I, built tougher. His muscles were all in the front, he was bulky. We are lighter, made for walking the sands with grace. He should have seen I was no threat to him, but still, he studied me for what seemed like a very long time. Finally he did decide that I was telling him some truth, and let me tell my story. I told him of our desert, of the way that we never stay in one place for too long, how we migrate from one water source to the other. He couldn’t seem to grasp our way of life. He asked me why we couldn’t just move to somewhere greener. Could you believe that? Yes, the plains were green, the wind was cool, and the grass soft under my feet, but it was no place to stay for long. Even while I enjoyed my time there, enjoyed speaking with this Attila fafner, I longed for our heat, our rough sands, the hot wind. I had remained in the plains long enough. Of course, he did not seem to understand why I had to leave so soon, but he did not hinder me. I bid him farewell and turned from my place to begin the journey home. I do wish I had asked his name now though, but then it would mean we might meet again and that isn’t possible.

As I made my way back across the plains, again I heard the rustling of the grass, and caught just a few glimpsed of my little watcher in the daylight. I should have asked that Attila fafner if he knew what the creature was called, but no matter. The return to the river was smooth, no more troubles or curious creatures decided to come my way. It was as if the plains themselves were willing me home. But once I set forth across the river it turned downward. A fish the size I had never dreamed of seeing before, could never imagine would even fit in that river, was headed up the current straight for me. Waterlogged and in the river I knew I would be no match for this beast if I had to fight it, so I swam as fast as the current would allow me. I had nearly reached the banks when the monster fish caught up to me. A great wave of a splash came over my head as it lunged, passing me by. I nearly was carried down river from the force of that wave but managed to keep on towards the shore. It was only a few steps out of reach, I could make it!

Another great splash and I was sent under again, nearly losing my cloth. A torrent of fins and waves erupted then, and I realized now that there were two of the great beasts. They were fighting each other! I used this knowledge to get myself propelled the last distance to the bank and pulled myself out of the water in time to turn back and see one of them lunge at the other and with a crashing wave, they both vanished. I do not know if they had come from farther up the river, or from the sea, but I count myself lucky that I lived past my encounter with them. They were easily large enough that I could have been a meal. I rested a short distance from the river until dusk set in again before beginning my journey back, and by this time my fur had dried in the sun. The rest of my journey home was thankfully nowhere near as eventful, and now I pass my adventure on to you. It isn’t the Attila clan we have to be wary of, far from it.

It was early morning, long before the kiddies would be up, but most of the adults were waking up to help pack away their humble little village. Talisin, a coming of age defender hunter well, part of the Svanhild clan, was out patrolling the surrounding area one last time. The wind was even calmer this morning, hopefully making this trip to Lake Gunner quick and with out all the sandy winds.

His dull brown paws sunk in the sand; at the bottom of what comes and goes as Lake Gudrun. There were a few patched of pale brown grass that blended in nicely with the sand around it, a few rocks, nothing much. It was cleaned out dry, life would return as the water did and so would they. Tali plucked a piece of wheat like grass and chewed on the end of it.

Time to leave, the sun was rising and the clan wasn’t waiting any longer. The village was literally gone. No trace, sand was tricky like that. Their village had been set and re-set many times over and you could never tell they were even there. A dim, smoky fire pit from last night traditional feast for the newly of age and re-migration was still smoldering just a bit.

The browns and tans Fafners walked in groups by family, but still very close together. If anyone was to be left behind that would be tragic, but nearly unheard of. Even the weakest and sick were never without help. Talisin took note of his family in front of him. Mother and Father dealing with new fluff ball babies and two bickering dumdums behind them. His ears flatten back suddenly after that. Two? There was definitely three last time he checked. He face grew still as he made a sharp turn around and raced toward village. Leaving one behind was nearly unheard of, until now…

What was, a 30 minute trip out was now a 15 minute trip back.

The wind slowly started to whip up now. The town was gone, even more so that the fire pit was even getting covered in sand now. He raced toward the lake again, but the sandy wind made everything look the same. He made a quick sliding motion down the side of the lake’s wall. The wind was still down here.

Ramos,” Talisin’s call to his younger brother was short, but loud to hear within this bowl.

Tali?” He heard a whimper from the sandy grass.

A small lizard like creature was outside of the small grass patch on a rock licking its eye, but none-the-less it terrified the poor kittlet to no end. As the older brother walked up to the grass, the lizard skittered off. Talisin sitting down, Ramos climbed up his back under Tali’s cape just poking his nose out of the hood of the cape.

So why where you down here?” Talisin spoke walking back up the side of the lake’s wall for the second time today, mostly hoping on rocks to get back up.

Just following you out, on your mission.” He spoke softly and saddened that his brother’s disappointment with him?

He smirked arriving at the top finally. “My miss—

He was cut off by an aggressive hiss by angry Serpin. Now Tali was just going to leave this one alone, backing up to the left to where they needed to go. Why was this rare creature even here?

Tali kept his wits about him, but it lounged straight for his neck. He was able to back up just in time, but he was no longer protecting himself, that thing got too close to his younger brother and by doing that it crossed the line.

In one graceful motion he swung off his cape balling his brother inside and tossing his a few feet even further behind him. Before Ramos could even make his way out to see what was happening outside; Talisin had already dropped the limp serpin’s body from his mouth. He then scooped up his cape and Ramos having to settle back in it. They were both safe now. It was sad he had to kill such a rare creature like that, but he couldn’t risk it coming after him once he turned his back.

What was that about?” Ramous complained having to stay in this dumb cape.
Nothing, just go back to sleep.” The older Fafner stated, muffled by the cloth in his mouth.
I wasn’t asleep in the first place, dummy. AND…I can’t even sleep like this…It’s un commfurr table

Tali wanted to laugh at his younger sibling for trying to saying ‘uncomfortable’, but being the nice older brother he was he just smirked. “Well it’s about to get worse, the wind his picking up and I’m running the rest of the way there.”

Awww….” But there was no more complaining the rest of the way there. He didn’t hear much from him. The sand was fierce to run in, it switched directions every few minutes, and even with a thick coat of fur it felt like being stung over and over, but the trip took under an hour. Reaching the lake he laid down Ramos, and lapped up generous amounts of water from the lake himself. It was cool and almost sweet to the tongue. Little fluff took big gulps as well. Tali laid down and took calming breaths next to the lake. Ramos snuggled close. “Where are mama and papa?” The little one asked, looking around for the clan.

I took a shortcut through the desert, they went along the river. Your bet is as good as mine. I thought for sure they would have beaten us here too, but –“He yawned. “Guess not…” He shrugged and lay in the sun lazily with the warm sand on his belly. Talisin’s brother safe next to him, the sand dying down again, and sweet water was in front of him again. This was not half bad at all. Now if only his clan had seen him take down that serpin…His thoughts drifted off as he finally fell asleep.
