The trip seemed longer than it really had been. Now that they weren't so awkward around one another, however, it was much warmer at night and a lot easier to travel. He felt like there was less weight on his shoulders--almost none, actually. But still, finding a suitable territory for the two of them was difficult.
After finally finding a stretch of land that had a decent amount of prey, a water source, and den sights...well, they jumped on it. It was time to start making it their own territory. So Gaara wandered the perimeter, making sure that they weren't bordering any large packs, and marked the perimeter as their own.
By the time he got back to Kearith--he was exhausted, which she probably was as well. They had traveled for quite some time, and deserved a good rest, until they got some wanderers that might be willing to join them.
"Find any good temporary dens?" He questioned, looking up to the female with a small, weary smile. Licking her cheek in greeting, he sat down in front of her, sighing heavily.

Kearith greeted Gaara warmly, her tail held high and waving like a banner as he approached. She had been ecstatic when they had come across the spread of land that they were claiming as their own. Now the only thing they really needed was others to join them before they would really, truly be a pack. One couldn't consider themselves a pack with two, no matter how much they wanted to.
She had spent a fair bit of time, searching out the small caves, hidden under the hills. The entrances were sometimes hard to spot but once the openings were found the inside of the caves were fairly spacious and comforting. Well large enough to hold seven to eight wolves a piece. The largest of the cave able to hold a good dozen wolves or so, perfect for a couple of Alphas.
Licking Gaara's maw as he sat before her she nodded. "Yes, actually, I found a fairly large den just over the hill." she said nuzzling Gaara. "It's well hidden, but once you go inside it's amazing, much larger than you would expect. Even you'll fit in there with no trouble!" she chuckled, rubbing against him. "Come, you can come and rest in there." she nodding, moving back a little and nodding her head back in the direction of the cave. She could easily tell the large male was tired, and she would be able to rest better in the den where it was cool.

Gaara chuckled at this, nodding and nuzzling against the thick fur of her neck. "Good," he murmured, pushing himself to stand when she made a comment on his size. "Mm..I'd prefer to not get stuck half way in," Gaara snickered, waiting for her to begin to lead the way.
"I like this place--I'm interested in seeing how it'll look when spring rolls around," he murmured, walking alongside her, lightly bumping his side against her own.
"So..." He began, swallowing thickly, "The caves are big, then?" Maybe...puppy-big? Now he was getting nervous, but he knew that when the season rolled around he was going to have problems restraining himself.
"How..do you feel about..maybe pups?" He had been a father once, it was kind of addicting after a while.

Kearith giggled as she bounded forward her tail waving like a banner in the air behind her. "It would still be a funny sight seeing such a large wolf as yourself stuck in a big ol' hole." she giggled. Jumping forward and licking at Gaara's face playfully she rushed forward off in the direction of the den.
"Oh I agree, it's going to be beautiful here. I'm amazing someone else hadn't claimed this before us." she said in awe. Though the ground in some area still had a think layer of ice over the ground there were small signs of life and spring coming along. Tiny buds of grass were beginning to peak through the earth. It wouldn't be long before the world burst into life, like an explosion of green, dotted with the multi-colored flowers that would follow as well, the forest around waking up from it's long winter's sleep.
Kear froze in mid step as the word 'puppy' reached her brain. Blinking furiously as it registered over and over in her mind like an echo that kept going. She had never thought of family that was her own before, but she'd also never had anyone to think of a family with before. But things were changing very quickly for Kear and she was still getting used to the closeness that her and Gaara had, the fondness that truly only seemed to grow stronger with every day that passed. "I...I suppose it is." she said slowly, looking up at Gaara licking her nose.
"I've never thought about pups before to tell you the truth. But I've never had anyone to think about them with before so it never crossed my mind really." she shook her head, still trying to come to terms with him basically asking her to start a family. "But really...how can we be a pack without pups?" she smiled up at Gaara, her gold eyes sparkling with delight.
She dove forward again and disappeared from sight into the den behind a boulder that covered the entrance to the hidden cave under the hill. Inside the the walls of the den looked as though they had been carved straight out of the hills themselves. And maybe, just maybe they had been by the two-leggers, many, many years ago.

Watching her nervously as she tried to answer his rather random question, he made his way into the den after her when she pretty much agreed to it, smiling widely.
He wanted a family...he was sick of being alone, wishing he had what he used to have...but this time, he wanted it to be better. He wanted to be a happy family, not a distressed one like he used to have..one where he can see his children grow up rather than watching them leave.
Taking in a slow breath, he made his way up to her and nuzzled into the thick fur of her neck, lightly licking the fur under her jaw. "See? I fit through," he teased, taking a seat beside her to actually take in the surroundings of the place, nodding absently to show his like for the place. "I'm surprised you found these, they're well hidden," good for when they had pups. Very good.

Kear nudged back at Gaara as she teased it. "I knew you would fit through. Though some of the dens are even a little hard for me to squeeze through. But we're a fairly large couple of wolves now aren't we?" she sneezed in laughter. For sure the dens with the smaller openings would go to smaller wolves like Omega's and possibly even some lithe Gammas. They needed these wolves first before the dens could really, truly be called dens, with no wolves or any animals residing in them at all they were just caves.
Laying herself down next to Gaara and nuzzling herself into his thick neck she nodded. "It wasn't easy, but I could smell the difference in he air that came from in here. There's no scent of the coming spring, in here you can smell the earth quite strongly and there's something else about these caverns that I can't quite place." she said tilting her head and thinking. There was no work to really explain what the smell was, rather than a sort of emptiness, a staleness to the air unless the fresh air from outside.
There truly was enough room in the den for a litter of puppies, even a fairly large litter would fit with ease. Though in the end it would be up their luck on how a litter between them would turn out. She knew he had a family before, but she still didn't know very many details about them, like how many children he had had before, what it had been like while they had been around. She wanted to know, to give him that feeling a family all over again but this time with the full experience of watching his own children grow up like a father should.
"So tell me Love...how many do you want?"

As she settled down beside him, he did the same thing, lying his head down atop her front paws as a makeshift pillow for her. He wasn't sure why he was being this way...so tender and loving towards another wolf. He hadn't been this gentle since he was with Lexi.
Releasing a soft sigh, he lightly licked her paw as she questioned about how many they wanted--which made him blink, looking up at her curiously.
"I had two before.." He laughed, looking up at the other, "A boy and girl..I want more than that," he murmured, a little embarrassed by it all but.. "They're Chivosi and Silas," she probably needed to know. If she ever did run into one of them by some weird chance, she might as well know their names.
"And you said..you'd never had a mate before?" Looking up at her from his spot on her paws, he cocked his head curiously, a small smile crossing his maw.

Licking at his forehead she, lavished their closeness. It was a nice feeling and she wondered why she had never considered taking a mate before, but there had to have been a reason that she had never done it. Maybe all this time she had been waiting for Gaara, or at least someone like him to come around in her life and give her that sense of completeness she had never experienced before.
"Ahh" she said turning to groom his ears. "Well hopefully we can have a slightly larger litter." she muttered between her teeth as she pulled prickers from his fur that had apparently clung to him as he made his way through the brush. Spitting the tiny, spiked balls out on the floor next to them and licking her nose, trying to rid herself of the feeling that had left on her tongue.
"I think four or five is a good number don't you think?" she asked and she returned to her grooming as though she had said nothing of anything particularly odd in the regards to having pups. It was somewhat large litter, she herself had only been her and her brother and no more than that.
She shook her head and sighed as Gaara asked about her lack of a mate prior. "Nope, not even something remotely close to a mate. Most males thought me too outspoken I guess." she snickered to herself. "But I also never really held any interest in any males before recently as is." she shrugged again as she finished her grooming and laid her head over Gaara's thick neck.

Giving a soft rumble from his chest as she began to groom him, he tipped his head this way and that, taking the grooming quite thankfully. He'd have to return the favor, but he just wanted to lie here for a bit...it was a comforting atmosphere. Not too cold, dim lighting, the spill of the sunlight near the entrance was rather gorgeous...it was just a perfect place for them.
Laughing softly, he looked up to her and folded an ear back so she could get one of the prickers from near his temple, he shook his head slightly when she spat it out. "You really want to carry that many?" He questioned, giving a soft hum when she finally laid her head down atop his neck. This was comforting to him, he enjoyed the contact, even if he didn't seem like it.
"Well good. If you had had a previous interest I might have to beat them down to show I'm better." Cocky, wasn't it? he didn't mind being a little protective of her currently...actually, he was very protective. He just hadn't had a chance to show it yet.

She chuckled softly to herself and she made herself comfy over his thick neck. "Well at this point might as well have a big litter now and start things off with a bang don't you think?" she said, sneezing softly with laughter. it was a pretty large litter, but with a larger litter they was a better chance for more of them to survive with her being a first time mother. The idea was a little daunting but she could take it with stride.
She wrinkled her nose in a smile. "Well you don't have to worry about that at all I assure you. As for you, your old mate better keep her distance or I'll tear her a new one." she growled softly, pawing lightly at his muzzle, leaving her paw draped over her nose, her tail thumping against the floor, echoing softly through their den.
"So...if we're going to plan a family..names, genders...any preference Love?" she asked, rolling off of him and laying on her back with her front paws held over her head, tail continuing to wag with a fury.

Laughing softly at this, he shook his head and pawed back at her when his muzzle was touched. Once she rolled off of him, he moved to settle his head atop her chest, between her paws so his ears perked up and reached the pads of her paws. Looking to her curiously, he hummed in contemplation and gave a shrug.
"I like little girls," he commented, smirking, "Less trouble than the boys," he'd come to find males were a huge pain in the a**...especially if they turned on you and tried to take your roll as alpha. Not happened to him, but he'd seen it happen.
"What about you?"

Licking at Gaara's maw she relaxed after tensing up when he stood over her. With his large size he could still squish her if he sat or laid on her. She shifted her head and looked at him with her bright gold eyes, white tipped ears perked forward as she watched him intently.
"Ah go figure, I don't really know though. Between me and my brother I was more trouble. He was a good little boy and I was a pain the a**, always getting myself into trouble." she laughed, laying her paws over his head.
"But I guess I'd like at least one boy, a little trouble maker. What's the fun in being a parent if you don't have at least one trouble maker to make you want to chew your tail off." she sneezed with laughter again. She remembered her good boy brother and rolled her eyes. She wondered how he was doing, if he had found a mate as well and had a family of his own.

He smirked a bit, "Hope they dont take after you, then," he teased, chuckling at how tense she had gotten when he towered over her. Licking along the bottom of her jaw comfortingly, he shifted his head to make sure it wasn't too heavy for her chest.
"I'd like both boys and girls...I think with our personalities we might have all troublemakers, though." Lexi had been pretty steady with hers--if not a bit bitchy but that didn't happen often. Maybe that's why their pups had been so..off.
But he didn't want to think about that right now.
"But mostly girls..and they're your pups after nightfall..I'll take them during the day," he grinned playfully, nibbling her neck softly.

"Oh and it'll be any better is they take after you?" she nipped at him jokingly, tapping his forehead with her paw. A toothy grin on her face as she looked at Gaara, they both had strong personalities, but they worked together well, if they ever fought, they would fight bitterly for sure. But she prayed they would never find the need to fight for any reason.
"I wouldn't mind a good mixture" she nodded her head and let it fall back onto the hard floor of the den. She could just see it now, the cave echoing with the sound of a bunch of yipping pups, rolling over each other, biting and snarling, play fighting until they wore themselves out beyond all reason. It was a nice thought really, made her wonder why she had never considered a family before.
At Gaara's last remark made her head snap back up. "Oh no you don't! You try to pull that you'll be sleeping outside!" she nipped at him with a stern face. If she was going to give him a litter they were going to equally take care of the pups and not split the care into night and day.

Gaara couldn't help but laugh at the female's reaction to his last comment, making him scoot up a bit further on the other's chest while lightly pawing at her ear, his own folding back.
"I didn't mean it~" he cooed, licking her nose in an affectionate manner. "Not...completely, at least," he'd never ditch her out with pups, even if he did joke about it.
Humming softly, he removed his head from her and laid down beside her, stretching his back legs out as he settled his head atop his front paws and closed his eyes, sighing heavily against the ground and her neck. "Ready for a rest, then?" They needed to start the basic set-up tomorrow..cleaning out the dens as best they could, get a good meal in them, then scout out the boarder to see if there were any wolves around here besides themselves.
