Name: Rayale Age: 22 turns Sex: Male Height: 5'5 Rank: Weirling Family: -Rynna: Mother -Zinan: Father, a leathercrafter -Byett: Sister, Byett was milk sister to G'dor, the white haired boy, now dragon rider, that Rynna adopted when the boys own family died. More than likely it was Rynna's own fondness for her milk brother, in spite of her teasing, that helped close some of the gap and soothe the jealousy Rayale once felt toward his adopted sibling. -G'dor - His foster brother. The two got on...roughly at best when the two were younger, Rayale being one of his tormenters, but as time went on, the relationship between the two eased...mostly, although Rayale still teased his milk brother about his white hair, he most certainly didn't tease him about becoming a dragon rider. -Brion and Tinin: Brothers: "The Twins". Whatever gene gave Rayale his stocky frame, it definitely shared it with these two terrors. The bane of G'dor's childhood years, even prankish Rayale drew the line at some of the tricks these two got up to, although in later years, his own comparative lack of height made him the butt of a number of jokes at their expense, perhaps one of the reasons he made a pet of Rikk, the flit, to help him return the favor by hiding small objects, and by retreiving his own from places he can't get. Pets: Rikk (bronze flit) Description: Rayale has thick brown hair, tied back somewhat high on his head, in an look that would on most, be comical. Something about Rayle says it fits though, with his stocky broad and somewhat bearish frame. Although still a bit more rediculous than impressive looking, he's one of those rare souls that will look better -older- than younger, when his demeanor more fits his frame. Although his build suggests an bruiser and a brute, he has a light sence of humor, and likes people in general. His jokes,however, which are occasionaly as tactless as they are off the cuff, can create the oposite impression all together. His eyes are brown, like his hair, and bright, usualy with good humor, prankishness, and sometimes the slow boil of his temper. He's also slightly faster than his looks might imply, though this speed is a touch limited by his stature, it's certainly given him the leg up on a few people who've mistaken him for being slow and dumb. Personality: Short but full of life, Rayale seems to have enough energy for a man twise his given stature, and even after a long day, finds 'relaxation' in arm wrestling, singing along (badly) to songs he knows, and talking to people he knows well. While he does have a temper, it's slow to come to a boil, with plenty of warning in his eyes before he surrenders to the urge to use his fists instead of a joke. He's quietly jealous of others of greater height, and thinner frames, because although he's more graceful than his frame would suggest, there are some things he just can't match, much as he would love to , not on the ground. He still sees himself as a large, homley and somewhat clumsy man-boy, feeling sometimes like he's a child hiding out in a man's skin, and play acting the part, though like many things, he hides this in smiles, jokes, and high energy. History: Caught in the middle of a large family...Rayale...wasn't exactly the mediator when he was young. Jealous of the attention his sisters milk brother got, he was a bully when young, if not so much so as "The Twins", whom he generaly refers to as though they were one, powerful unit of trouble making. While he adored his sister, the only girl in the lot, he felt that G'dor was getting far too much attention for an outsider, and took it out on him accordingly, though between his sister's coaxing, and the teasing he himself began to get as he grew into a bulky, short frame, the bitter taste of his own medicine rather cooled his urge to pick on his adoptive sibling. While he never developed his fathers tallents for leather crafting, his strength and surprising agility made him a good candidtate to be aprenticed as a fishercraft, something he grew to be very fond of. Swimming for Rayale being as close as he could come to being as graceful as he sees others to be, and perhaps nearly as graceful as he sees his own pet Flit to be. The workings of boats and fishing an complex task that he thrills at, to prove himself as much brains as brawn. Of anything he was possibly expecting in his life, he certainly wasn't expecting to be picked as a candidate when an dragon rider stopped through, seeking something her dragon had noticed. Since then, Rayale has been all but walking on air, waiting to see the results of the dragon mating...and hoping.
Special: (talents outside of craft, anything unusual) Rayale has an certain talent for baking, though he considers this an amateur skill, not in line with his (Current) profession. He learned the skill to help his mother, trying to be useful...and noticed...in a large home.
Picture: (if avaliable) None, but will draw one in the future.

Relations: Some of the other people I've met at the Weyr. Quite the group of people...
G'dor: I don't know how I'm going to get used to calling him "G'dor"...or how I'm going to get used to being "R'ale" and "Mine". He's turning into quite the rider...and outranks me besides, which rather makes me laugh. Go figure that he's outstripped me for height AND for dragon status, but I wouldn't trade Jaiereth for the world. Still I hesitate to say it, I'm a little proud of G'dor. But Damned if I'll let him get by without a -little- teasing.
Kahlin: Taller than me, paler, and a lot more graceful looking, I'm almost surprised to hear he's not an rider. He's a very polite young man, and he blushes a lot, which is amusing. Makes me wonder what happens if I actually cracked a joke in his direction....
Caleten: Her...I don't know what to make of her...She's got a noble bearing, like she was a great lady or something. Scarred, but she carries it like a badge...and as though anyone else would sully it by getting too close to her. Frankly, a bit rude, but with that much cold pride I suppose I shouldn't expect much else. I'm guessing she's trying too hard to make up for something, but thats her headache in the end I suppose. If I spent all my time trying to make up for not being tall, I'd have to walk around on stilts all day, and be laughed at. You can't make up for everything in your life.

Inventory: Just to keep track in case someone walks off with something. That includes Rikk. He's an exelent set of 'hands' when someone puts something small out of my reach...but he's still a flit.

~~~ Funny to realize that with so many people around, I've met so FEW of them so far. Especially for me, but I guess I've been rather tied up with Jaiereth. No objections there of course, just a curious little point of interest. I have met a few though, like Kahlin and Caleten, who I met before the hatching. There's a study in contrast. Kahlin is pale and slender, not unlike G'dor, but a bit 'prettier'. G'dor is just too...well he's nineteen but he still acts like a a child about some things. Most especially where girls are conserned. How ANYONE could go through nineteen turns, or even thirteen turns, and not start noticing that, in fact, other people are sometimes atractive and do not, in fact, transmit incurable cases of 'cooties', by holding hands. ALright I'm rambling and I admit it, G'dor and Kahlin are different cases. Kahlin...a bit strange. Freindly enough when I talked to him, rather shy, though he has a green flit that I think Rikk might rather fancy. Mind Rikk fancies anything in the oposite gender of Flit. He may be clever for a flit, being a bronze, but he's still a flit. Can't exactly expect deep philosophy out of them.
Caleten, she's polar oposite to Kahlin. Taller than me by an inch, but then, ask me who -isn't-. She has a scared face and very striking very LONG hair, but she's as cold as they come. It gives her a sort of distanced nobility, but she doesn't care for me, or for Kahlin, and it makes me wonder if she cares for anyone. She came looking to find the runner beast stables, but of course I didn't know where they were at the time...and as far as she was conserned my failure to know this might well have amounted to me spitting in her face. She certainly acted like it. Huffed off in the end after a quiet argument with Kahlin. Around her he acted differnt, a bit more cool headed and polite himself. Wonder which one is his real face. Is everyone here like that I wonder?
G'dor I caught up to at the impression. Everyone would be proud of him back at the hold, save perhaps the twins, who I know would make endless jokes at his expense, and what would happen should his dragon ever attempt to fly the queen. Not that in that case I can blame them. Just talking to him about girls made him furious and frustrated. He accused me of skirt chasing, little lump. A Herdbeast like me doesn't get a lot of skirt chasing done...on which note the subject makes Jaireth laugh. Whatever the case, While I'm damn proud of him for impressing a dragon, Best as I can tell, his mind has to catch up in growing to the rest of him. He can't play at being some snot nosed child forever.
~~~ Haven't really spoken to G'dor much since arguing about girls...suppose at some point I should track him down and make certain he's not angry...but at the moment if feels like I've far too much to do. I've been doing something of a 'working lunch'...building an smaller swimming hole with Kahlin. Seems to be good for him, he gets a bit more confident all the time. It's also a good project for me, something heavier than rope climbing and firestone throwing...feels good to be LIFTING things, like the stones for the damn we're building. Makes a damned mess though, and be rest assured I'm asleep before curfew. I have something in my trunk I didn't before though, an weaving that Kahlin's mother made as her journeyman project. He gave it to me as a gift. It's a weaving of the sea, with the waves crashing in. You can almost smell the salt, and it reminds me of home and family. When I have my own Weyr, instead of living in the Weyrling barracks, I'll hang it with pride.

~~~ Well things have certainly gone toward the the interesting end of things. The second weyrling class has started, and apparently we'll be starting things off with an daily run around the weyr bowl. We already had one 'casualty' of this...one of my weyrling mates going down with a twisted ankle. I sort of forsee me having to run second laps after the class consitantly, especially since the Weyrling master is timing us. Kahlin is taking a stand of his own, he's going to the healer's and finding out if he can be trained as a healer, and get out from under his father. I wish him luck with that, he needs to get out of there...
~~~ I don't understand my brother...lately he's driving me crazy. Makes me kind of wonder if it's something to do with impressing one of the high level dragons, because now he's acting like one of the TWINS. I can't so much as LOOK at a girl let alone talk to one and he's calling me a SKIRT Chaser. I'd love to grab him by the shirt scruff and cuff some sense into him, but I know Jaiereth responds when I get angry...and I don't know what would happen then....
