The signature clicking of Libra's little heels on the pavement was the only sound on the street. Her patrolling had been quiet and solitary tonight, and though she held her scales up warily, there didn't seem to be much in the way of Negaverse activity at the moment. Thought she tried not to let down her guard, the peaceful night lulled her into a sense of security by degrees.

Eventually, she sat down on the curb, looking around as she did so. It was a strange sight, a girl in a getup like Libra's, which was more ridiculous than most Moon Senshi, sitting on the sidewalk and tapping her fingers on the pavement. But there wasn't much to do, and she'd been walking all night. If a Negaverse agent was going to jump out at her, they might as well do it while she was sitting down, and no matter how professional Libra would have liked to consider herself, she was no Aries. She was still just a teenage girl who, when not fighting crime, was trying to catch up on massive amounts of schoolwork so she didn't have to repeat a grade. She needed breaks sometimes, even if it was just sitting down for a moment while on duty.

Anyway, it wasn't like she wasn't still on guard. Libra listened to the silence of the night, gaze roaming the empty street.

It wasn't a Negaverse agent that was going to come across her, no just a civilian who had, for some reason, decided to go on a walk. At night. Shocking, Sheldon Hobbes had willingly decided to go on a walk [He couldn't sleep really, odd]. It was a incredibly slow pace really that suited his usual inactivity and given how long he had been outside and how he wasn't paying attention, he had no idea where he was. It was eerily quiet though, not that the green haired boy minded, but it was the kind of night that you'd expect zombies to come trouping out.

Well, given that one time out after work he wouldn't be surprised if some sort of creature like that came out. Nor some short skirted teenage looking girl followed, trying to kill it. Sheldon frowned at the thought, stuffing his hands further into the pockets of his sweatshirt. That had been ridiculous even for him and hopefully something he could avoid in the future, like he did with everything else in life.

But things just didn't work like that, not when unknowingly approaching one of those short skirted teenage girls; especially one of the Zodiac.

Libra looked up sharply at the sound of footsteps, scale at the ready (and she would really have to find a better way to fight the Negaverse than hitting them with scales and running soon). However, when she saw it was just a civilian, she relaxed slightly, but rose up from the curb anyway. "Good evening," she addressed the man, touching her forehead respectfully. "Sailor Libra, at the service of the public." She might as well try to make it seem like the senshi weren't complete loose cannons while she was here. From what she had seen of the news, heard from Tate, and thought for herself before she had discovered she was a zodiac, the senshis' reputation was hardly flattering. Libra was exhausted, but she could at least handle some damage control.

"Have you seen any disruptions in the area?"

Her mind hoped he said 'yes', but her feet, which had been doing all the walking on this patrol, pleaded for a 'no'.

It was luck that he downright didn't trip over her, but the tinkling of her scales was a dead give away that Sheldon should stop. He looked up, his shoes squeaking to a halt one about a foot away from her and he blinked. His first thought, obviously she wasn't a hooker or stripper... not with that nice an outfit - was that real gold? Second, she was probably one of those sailor people like Argo Navis. And then she confirmed it with her introduction and it made Sheldon worry a little. His lazy gaze opened a little wider and scanned the area... just to make sure that no monster was about to come at them or something.

Seemed clear enough. And she seemed maybe decent at her job, she actually had some sort of weapon too, they were scales though. Well, scales could be used for whacking things. "Not that I've seen," he replied to her with happy nod. "You're not looking for one, are you?" He just wanted to be sure... he was too tired now to run..... and he hated running.

She noticed him becoming more alert at her introduction, and she lowered her scales more. However, noticeably, she didn't actually put them down. Until she had a better mastery of the art of physical combat, they were her best bet in case of ambush.

"I'm looking to stop them, if I find any," she explained curtly. "If I don't, well, I'll do a patrol somewhere else." Never mind that she had just been sitting on the curb. She hoped he hadn't noticed, it was hardly professional, and while the Moon senshi could afford to look like amateurs, the Zodiacs were supposed to be better than that.

Libra, apart from her regal outfit, didn't exactly look better than that anyway, though. After her unexpected stay at Barren Pines, the Senshi had lost weight, and she hadn't had that much to begin with. And what with Sagittarius's death, makeup work by the barrel, and impromptu combat lessons, dark shadows were beginning to show under her eyes. What made her seem in control were her posture and tone, which she rarely allowed to falter, but if you looked closely, the cracks in the framework were beginning to show.

Partially because she wanted an excuse to rest for a moment, and also because the fact he hadn't run stuck out in her mind, she followed up her first question with, "Have you seen any recently?"

Given Sheldon's limited knowledge, read ONE, about senshi he honestly wouldn't have noticed any at all out of place characteristics. He had nothing to compare - others or even her past performances - except that purple one a day days back and in his mind, Libra seemed to have the leg up. Sitting on curbs? Hell, he hadn't noticed she was on one and wouldn't have said anything about it... like he really worked himself And bags under her eyes? Who didn't .. well, he didn't but that was because all he did was nothing all day. Sheldon didn't notice anything because well, he didn't think he was supposed to.

"I saw some weird monster and one of your little sailor organization cohorts a few days ago," He offered with a small shrug, "almost got me killed," well he helped with that too with being retarded, "but I survived."

He paused, relaxing back into his usual state of stupor and finally took in the nice crisp air for what it had brought him before he came across Libra. It was nice, so nice. "Why do you have to keep patrolling.. is it your job or something to go after weird freaky things with claws?" He asked as if that idea of a job was perfectly normal, like retail work or something.

"Probably not my cohort. I'm from a different group than most of the sailor soldiers in Destiny City." Libra replied genteely. "However, we all stop the, ah, weird monsters from killing civilians as best we can. That's why we patrol, to intervene in situations and to try to prevent future situations from happening by combating the Negaverse. They send out the monsters in order to steal the starseed in your chest. That's what keeps you running, sort of like your life force or a battery. They need them to power their organization." She relayed the information calmly, like she was presenting a lecture rather than discussing a murderous organization intent on killing civilians.

"It's somewhat difficult work, but I think it's rather necessary. Of course, it's more challenging when half of Destiny City thinks the sailor soldiers are evil and the other half think they're a public menace, but there's not much we can do about that besides act responsibly and prove them wrong," she finished, looking at Sheldon.

"What have you heard about us?"

Science monthly was going to have a field day with this one, if they ever caught wind of what Libra had just explained to Sheldon. People had 'starseeds' in them, that powered them; biologists somewhere were in tears, years of studying how the human body worked was going out the window. And all Sheldon could do with this information that was handed to him was quirk a brow, in mild interest, surprise and, suuure, bewilderment too. Was this like the Matrix? Those machines used people like batteries....

And there were also apparently more of these girls in short skirts, groups of them... different groups of them. Sheldon's lips thinned into a straight line as he recalled his last encounter with a senshi and what he had seen and heard on the news; there was often different footage of these girls after all, when something was actually caught on film. "It probably wouldn't help that those monster things pretty much vanish after you kill them," he offered her lamely, "last one seen at the crime and all ~"

He shrugged again, hands still in his pockets as he couldn't offer more, "I've only heard of what you pretty much said. Terrorists and all that, you'd be probably going at it all wrong if you were actually though." He looked her up and down again, "bright colors wouldn't be the best of ideas..." Besides the choice of design.

"Precisely." said Libra grimly. "It's hard to prove yourself innocent when part of the evidence disappears on you."

She nodded as he spoke. "And do you believe what you've heard?" she asked, raising one blonde eyebrow at him. "It's all well and good to hear about things like that, but surely you must have an opinion." Carefully, she lowered the scales some more, until they were on the ground, and looked up at him, adding, "No tricks, just opinions."

It was, in a way, a patrol, Libra supposed. Just instead of fighting youma, she ahd suddenly found herself tackling the issue of Sailor Senshi public relations. As a history student, she knew how important public opinion could be, so while the soldier in her itched to be somewhere else, fighting, she supposed that this venture was far more useful than just sitting on the curb to catch her breath.

Sheldon was silent for a few moments, staring lazily at the soldier before him. His yellow eyes glanced briefly at the scales she had lowered to the ground, for the first time noticing them. Huh. He looked back up at her and shifted a little where he still stood and then shrugged. "Probably too early to tell really." Was his first response. "You lot don't seem all to bad," his head tilted slightly, "and you probably could have taken me out when you first saw me... if you were really a terrorist." Especially given that monster had gone after him for really no reason besides just for being there.

He paused again, pulling his hands out his pockets to cross his arms over his chest. "But, again.. too early to tell. Only met two of you so far, seen one monster thing... who knows." Another shrug. This could all be a clever ploy to gain the trust of the populace and then blindside them.

Libra nodded. "Makes sense." she murmured, and added, "We're not all that bad, you're right. I know I'm not the most impartial source either, but you should stay away from the Negaverse. Whether you like them or not, they're harvesting starseeds, and they won't think twice about yours."

She stood up, stretching, and added, "I wouldn't say they're good or evil- Good and evil are subjective. However, I will say they're dangerous, and while I'll admit the senshi can be dangerous as well, we won't initiate attacks on civilians." She eyed him carefully, and said, "I've seen a lot of senshi and negaverse agents when I partol, but you're the first civilian who's stopped to chat. Aren't you afraid? You've admitted yourself that you're not sure about us yet."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 24, 2010 10:36 pm

Should he be afraid, or even just worried? Especially with all this new found information she was giving him, perhaps maybe he should. But that would take too much effort, "Nah... being afraid is just too much work," Sheldon shrugged with a lazy grin riding on his face. "If something happens, then it happens and then you deal with it as it comes."

"Something to keep in mind though," Negaverse and Senshi alike were something to at least be aware of. Their business wasn't spilling into his everyday life, so why go out of his way to avoid it when it could eventually lead it to do so? And there really wasn't much data and evidence to come to a conclusion about all this yet. After all, only two senshi met and none of those agents.

The nerdy scientific data collection side of Sheldon was about to resurface with a few more questions until he finally got a good full look over Libra. First he realized she was standing, and then realized she was shorter and rather petite. And all that gold and fancy look to her. "Aren't you afraid someone is going to mug you or something?" He snickered, lazily pointing at her accessories.
True, she had scales and probably some impressive power behind her like was said about these senshi people, but they couldn't be impervious to everything.
