My cousin is living right on the coast in the affected area. We have not heard any word yet, but I'm pretty much expecting a funeral He was blocks from the ocean.

That is terrible to hear. I strongly hope that there is no funeral, lets hope for a miracle. Though this news is rather shocking, I'm suppose to go down there for the summer as part of an aid group. Now, it looks like I'll actually have to do A LOT of work...great...

I'm just glad he's okay.

Yeah, that was cancelled. And I'm glad to hear that your cousin is okay. I hope that there aren't to many missing and that those who are, are found quickly.

around 400 estimated deaths... 150 missing.
This is a tragedy indeed. There have been aftershocks of up to 6.0 in magnitude.
I just hope Christopher stays smart, and stays outside.

I heard from a friend that the quake in Chile was strong enough to shake Earth off its axis just a bit. So now our days are 1 millisecond shorter.
Whether this is true or not, I'm not certain.
It seems a little unlikely, cuz the strongest shake in Chile was 9.5 yet no one made any theories about the Earth's axis then.
Then again technology is advancing every day they say. And after the shake in Haiti and that tsunami warning... I don't know what to think anymore. I think the Earth is finally lashing out at mankind in my opinion.

There is nothing unusual about the amount of quakes we've been having lately. Seismic activity is normal, it's simply that they have been in more populated areas.

I've just been having some really weird dreams lately. And I can't help to think that world events/ natural disasters are connected. I've been having end of the world dreams for MONTHS. And now earthquakes are happening. Feels like a slap in the face. But maybe I'm just crazy.

You know what they say - if you believe it, it's most likelly to happen.
I've been having constant nightmares for about two years now, and post-apocalyptic dreams are quite often as well, but I think the Earth's a little young to be disposing of us completelly just yet.
