I juss got off the phone with my Ex (baby's daddy) me and him were talking about my legal rights and stuff as a teenage mother (im 16 and 27 weeks pregnant) then he said he wants to take me to court for me getting pregnant with his baby? Can he like even do that?? Plus hes almost 20 and he sais i cant sue him or anything because hes "of age"(i got pregnant at 15) Then he told me if hes going to jail or anything or if he even sees a judge hes gonna do anything he can to take my baby away, WHAT SHOULD I DO gonk

really there's nothing he can do about it. you can sue him for statutory rape and land him in jail. Your parents can take custody of your baby and then he'd be SOL. But if your family has a lawyer, then you should consult with them first before deciding on anything.

He can't take you to court for getting pregnant. Getting pregnant isn't a crime.

So you're 16? And he's 19 at the moment? You can see about getting him with statutory rape. But a lot of states say it's legal as long as the age difference is four years or less. So you might not be able to do that.

But if you believe he is dangerous you can get a protective order.

If you don't think he is dangerous, then it wouldn't be fair to keep the baby all to yourself. Even if you and the father don't get along, he has a right to see his child as long as he is stable and safe.

Depending on the situation, he might even be better off keeping the baby most of the time if you're only 16. Because I have never met a 16 year who could provide for a child. Most 16 year olds are still being provided for by their parents, you know?

So it's really something to think about. Think about whether he's a danger to you. Think about whether he is a danger to the baby. Think about whether this situation warrants a protective order. Think about whether it would be good for him to see the baby at least some of the time. Think about who the baby would be better off with.

Then you can see about hitting him with the statutory rape charge. If he actually tried to hurt you and the baby, you can try getting him with assault and getting a protective order.

Collect as much evidence as you can. For example, if he leaves you threatening messages, save them.

Talk to your parents, the police, or a lawyer for more information.

But don't get so caught up in all of that that you forget to prepare for the baby! At your age you should still be in school. Who will watch the baby then? Can you pay bills? Do you have your own place with enough room for a child? Can you afford diapers? Do you have your own health insurance that you can add a baby to? Have you been seeing a doctor? Have you been taking prenatal vitamins?

A lot of girls say they want to keep the baby just because they don't want to give the baby up. But sometimes keeping the baby is really selfish because the girl has nothing to offer the baby. I'm not necessarily saying that's the case here because I don't know your exact situation. I'm just saying don't forget to be selfless. Don't forget to put the baby first. Don't forget to think and plan. Don't forget the baby won't be a baby forever, and you won't be supported by Mom and Dad forever. If you really can't afford or handle a child right now, it might be better to find someone who can.

well as long as you're getting prepared that's a good thing as far as the baby's concerned. As far as the father goes, I would say get him with assault and statutory rape charges, along with the protection order like Lorien just said. He will most likely have to pay for child support unless you say that you don't want child support to the judge, then maybe they can waive that.

You have a nice set of parents there. They even sound that they are above the poverty line(above average wages) or they are just good with their financial sources.

That's very good. Most teens with children I hear have to quit school and there parents are usually not very supportive and will practically abandon there daughter and grandaughter. I never knew you could do alternate school programs. You must have some caring parents.
