The beach seemed like a nice place to investigate things. After all up till now she really hadn't thought to spend much time exploring the beach. as she stepped out on the beach and gazed across the water, she blinked back the blinding reflection of the sun. Turning she began to walk along, her long white tail dragging along behind her over the sand causing small dragging marks to be left over her hoof prints in the sand. Her mind was rolling over some things as it usually was now days. mostly reflecting back on the missing bits of her own days as a foal. Shaking her head she vanquished the rather now depressing thoughts that just left her more curious than anything and turned her mind more onto the warm sun.

The sun was blinding; the breeze was cold, making the little Usdia shiver as she appeared right on the edge of the beach. Her human brought her to a village near here for trading; using Pepper as a work horse, strapping bags to her back. They hadn't been to heavy, so who was she to object to it? Besides, it got her away from the other Soquili. Starseeker's singing was getting on her nerves, and Jaloo was way to rough when she tried to play with her. No, sir. They were not Sargent Pepper's friends, though she'd tried.

She scanned the beach's shore and blinked at a figure off in the distance. There was a bright gleam of light coming from something white. Curiosity gripped her and propelled hr forward. When she got close enough, Pepper realized the gleaming white was a long, thick tail and mane. "How pretty!" she said out loud, admiring the shear color of it. Then she looked at the other Soquili and smiled brighter. My, my! It was attached to a pretty mare.

Best put her best hoof forward, no? "Sorry! Manners. I'm Pepper!" She inclined her head a little and then flicked her main from her eyes with a jerk of her head.

Hearing the voice, she had stopped and turned a warm friendly smile that reached her sky blue eyes. "I'm Shoshana, though most just call me Sho." She shook her head some to get a few locks of her own mane from her face though it managed to cause the ring of roses on her head to slouch some. Today just wasn't going to be her day for keeping things out of her eyes. With a small giggle she looked the other mare over some, Often she inspected other horses. "It's a pleasure to meet you." Her voice held a sincere glee of meeting another. What new and interesting things others sometimes brought with them.

Stories were often welcome though the chance to explore with some one other than her own two-legger was a perk. Especially since her two-legger spent most times at her own camp allowing the red mare to come and go as she pleased.

Shoshana? It was a pretty name for a pretty mare. Pepper chuckled a bit more, looked to the ring of roses, examining it quite happily. It suited her, from what she could tell. Shoshana's voice rang clear and sweet to Pepper's ears, and her smile and eyes seemed quite innocent, like that of the foals she'd seen around the river, romping in the waters.

The wind kicked up, causing mane, tail and sand to swirl around them and she had to turn her face away for a moment, least sand get in her eyes. "You've a pretty name, too! But, could I call you Shana instead? Sho doesn't quite seem to fit!" She laughed a little and shifted her stubby legs, she was starting to sink! "I haven't seen you here before. Are you from the village not too far?"

"Shana? Sure I don't mind being called that." She had to turn her head some to shield her own eyes from the sand, taking a few almost clumsy steps backwards only to step and trip on her tail causing her to fall flat on her rump. With a rather sheepish grin she let out a rumble of laughter. She wasn't hurt but it seemed her own tail was even against her this day. It wasn't often that she had days like this but when she did it even seemed to amuse herself.

"The village? I should say not.. truthfully These lands are really quite new to me.. I rather stumbled upon them this past winter. I seem to travel quite a bit and my curiosity brought me here." She laughed some more before standing up once more, wet sand now spattered on her tail and rear end. She'd wash it off later and use this story as a humors one to tell some of the others she had met and were on friendly terms with. "Are you from around here originally?" Her ears perked and a glint of curiosity edged into her eyes.

That was alright. She managed to roll her shoulders in a shrug and flash Shana a warm, welcoming smile. "That's alright. I suppose this will be an adventure for the both of us! I'm not from here. I'm from the river, way back ...in a direction my human remembers. We come here to trade and things. None of it is very heavy, so my human brought me here." She nodded a bit in a sagely way and then shifted. Sinking in sand wasn't exactly fun! "So, Shana, tell me about yourself? You're pretty, and your flowers are interesting."

Pepper hadn't seen roses, at least, none like that that were still in tact despite the cold weather they'd been having lately.

"Not much to really know I'm afraid.. I left my mother's herd when I was very little so I don't remember too much about it or my life there." She grinned some. "I've traveled most my life and the roses have seemed to always be with me. Can't remember when they first appeared I've just always had them." She smiled warmly and motioned to move further into dryer sand so that the shorter mare wasn't battling the wet sand and it's ability to sink one's hooves. "The dryer and should be less likely to shift from under us." She smiled as she moved to the dry sand and waited for pepper.

Pepper followed the mare, staring at her tail and the roses. They were pretty and hypnotizing to one, if at the right level with them. And Pepper knew she wasn't the tallest Usdia in the bunch. "Dryer is better," her voice was that of approval and that gentle, ever present smile grew just a bit wider. Yes, this Soquili would be a good friend in Pepper's eyes.

"What do you say about going to get some apples from the human children? They're always up to seeing a new Soquili or two." It was true. Pepper often filled up on apples or oats depending on where she went in the village.

"Apples? Sure.. an apple or two won't hurt after all." She smiled brightly and looked around some. Her ears flicked about, here was her slight dilemma. She'd remembered where her own human had camped.. and that wasn't too close to any others as her human tended to like her privacy. The village wasn't something she really recalled visiting. Perhaps at night.. but then again everything always looked so different in the night. Nodding to herself she looked back at the little mare. "Um.. Pepper, where is the village?"
