Not Our War
Warteck looked at the view screen with arms crossed, watching the human’s war with each other. He clicked his mandibles and growled as the view of a harbor being bombed played.
“A war-loving race, no doubt.” Swiftblade said as he walked up next to Warteck.
Warteck looked at his long-time friend Swiftblade and said. “Indeed they are, the planet Earth is engulfed in a war.”
“This one seems more interesting than the last one.” Swiftblade growled as a U.S. M4 Sherman rolled across the screen.
Warteck tapped parts of the screen a few times and the view turned to a world map of Earth. He zoomed it in to a certain spot on an island. The spot was a large temple of which, by the architecture, looked Mayan.
“That’s one of the proving grounds.” Swiftblade said, clicking his mandibles.
Warteck pressed a few things before saying. “Humans have found this site.”
“And we have to get rid of them.” Swiftblade said, finishing Warteck’s statement.
Warteck nodded and shut the view screen off.
“I’ll go get my gear.” Swiftblade said, leaving the room.
Warteck hooked his mask on and said. “Time for a hunt.”
Earth, Pacific Front, 1943….Japanese camp near the temple.
“Sir, more of our scouts have gone missing inside the temple.” Said the Japanese soldier.
The major took the cigarette out of his mouth, blew smoke and said. “Have the bodies been found?”
“No, sir, no sign of them.”
The major took another puff from his cigarette and walked over to the desk, cluttered with papers. He picked up a large picture of the symbols inside the temple. He took another puff and said. “These statues, nothing like I’ve ever heard of.”
“Yes, sir, they are very unique.” The soldier said.
The major flicked the ashes off his cigarette and picked another picture up. This one showed a bipedal, man-like creature fighting a serpent like being. The major puffed more smoke and said. “These creatures, I’ve never seen anything thing like this or anything like this.”
“Yes, they are very strange.”
The major turned to the soldier and said. “Take a group and find those soldiers.”
“Yes, sir, right away.”
