Swellow's large wings cast dancing shadows upon the treetops as he soared by. It was interesting to think that a few encounters with a grounded mare could bring that small joy of flying back into his heart. He laughed slightly, her name "Bella" just seemed to roll off his tongue. She had reminded him that there were still some out there that didn't leave the minute he took to the skies, in fact it was quiet the opposite. He always knew no matter how long or where he soared he could always come back down and find her. She had proven it on a number of occasions, and this occasion he had hoped wouldn't be any different.
Spotting a familiar clearing in the forest he scanned the area hoping to see another familiarity. He was wanting to speak with her about something pressing and hoped that his usual flight pattern would have caught her attention if she was in the forest. Not seeing anything out of the ordinary he finally circled and felt his hooves touch the ground. Slowly walking about the clearing he wondered on how to talk to her this time. It seemed so silly, in the air his thoughts and feelings were strong, confident and vivid. But once he touched the ground his fears returned. He wasn't sure why even, she wasn't in need of him, in fact because of his fears she had been just what he needed. He started to pace slowly, she always made him feel confident. But today was different...he looked at his ruffled feathers and smiled.

Bella had been out grazing most of the day, enjoying the warm sunshine and the sweet smells of new life, a wonderful Spring beginning. She spent a lot of days like this, but it was a good life~ though she was rather lonely if she stopped to think about it.
She looked up at the sound of a wing beat, watching something far larger than a lark fly overhead. She whinied like a filly in spite of herself, how silly she was, she was so happy to see him! She made sure the apple pile she'd foraged especially for him would stay where it was and she galloped towards the direction he had headed.
She had to slow down in order to not burst so enthusiastically through the bushes to see him. She took a breath to steady herself and poked her head out of the bushes, beaming at him. " Oh~! Swellow!" she trotted up to him and nuzzled him happily " i saw you fly over ^^ gorgeous as always~ i tried to get here before you but you're certainly a flier~!!" she chuckled and shook her flank of the leaves and things she'd picked up while she had been hastily galloping here, hoping he didn't mind too much. She blushed a cute pink.
" How are you? i'm glad to see you ^^" she certainly was, her silly heart was beating a million miles a minute to boot~
"Nice of you to come down ^^"

Swellow turned to look at Bella his heart skipped a beat as he saw her burst through the leaves and forage.
"Bella!"
Feeling her gentle touch he nickered his heart pounding. He ruffled his feathers gently as he nuzzled her.
"Oh Bella I have so much to talk to you about so much to tell you...I..."
He stopped for a moment seeing the cute blush of pink across her cheeks. Puffing his chest up he was unsure of what to say to her,
"Bella...what...whats the matter...are you sick?"
He knew the familiar twinge the proctor in him kicking in, he knew what blushing was but something inside told him it was different this time. Nipping gently at her he smiled, the best a horse could do that is,
"Are you okay?"

Bella blinked for a moment and giggled " oh no Swellow, i'm not sick~ i'm just happy to see you~and my heart doesn't seem to want to behave~ i think it's all that running i did to catch up to you~!" smiles, looking at him and expecting him to call the bluff, wondering if his heart was doing anything similar.
She swished her tail behind her and perked up her ears " something to tell me?" tilts her head a little and chuckles " you seem different today ^^ something special happen?"
She seemed fine of course, from the outside, but she needed to remind herself to breathe, just waiting for him to speak~ of course~she was acting silly but it was Swellow~ and even though he hadn't been gone that long, she'd missed him. This was a funny feeling indeed~
"if you're hungry or thirsty you can talk while we walk~ i found some apples and a nice little stream back a little bit~ if you want ^^"

He smiled she was okay, and she was the same. Nickering slightly he nudged her gently wanting to show her a little bit of the skies he had been practicing and lifting and making sure that he could lift her just enough to see the world like he does,
"close your eyes my beautiful Bella I have something to show you first..."
He smiled it would be a treat he thought before he spoke to her of what was on his mind weighting on his mind. He knew he felt something around her but he wasn't sure why or what, it would be in due time before he could fully come to understand he nodded in due time she would be someone he could fully protect.

Bella smiled and blushed a bit the mention of her being "beautiful" she chuckled a little and closed her eyes, knowing she could trust Swellow with anything. " What are you up to~?"
While she didn't need to ask this, it was still conversation with him, and she took every chance she could get~ but at this moment, she imagined her heart was like a birds, eager and beating way too fast for reasons she almost grasped.
She stood still, her eyes closed and waited.

Swellow smiled he knew that she trusted him and he would do anything to keep that trust. Hearing her sweet voice his heart jumped,
"Oh I'm sure you'll feel soon enough Bella"
He moved quickly and without much hesitation he had her positioned properly on his back. His great wings spread as he gently and slowly made flight. It would only be for a moment but it would be enough to show her the world just once. Getting a few feet off the ground he finally chuckled,
"Alright Bella open your eyes...see what I see..."
Of course she would never see what he truly saw...there was a spark in her that calmed him a beauty that she would never know truly no matter how much he might confess it to her. But perhaps just for a moment he could show her.

Bella opened her eyes and gasped, she had once experienced flight because of him before, and this was the same, amazing. " Wow, Swellow! you're amazing~!!"
She looked down at the distance from the ground and hoped the strain on his wings wasn't too much. The wind rushed through her mane and she closed her eyes for a second, enjoying the feeling, feeling safe with him, even though the sight must be amusing to anyone else. She opened her eyes and prayed she would memorize what this would look like forever~
She nuzzled against him and whispered " thank you"

Swellow happily made a sound it was almost like chirping, looking around he gently made his way back down. It was a rush to be able to show her just a glimpse and he was happy that she had reminded him about the skies. Some small pleasures he derived from flight had been made that much better with her there by his side. When his hooves touched the ground he quickly moved he wanted to see her face her reaction and most of all he wanted to know what she thought. He puffed his chest out once more. As if to show his pride in being able to take her to the skies. It would be the last time for a while he thought so hopefully it was worth it for just that short moment,
"Bella...you...your welcome my beautiful Bella"
He finally managed to squeak out.

Bella beamed, like a child who had just gotten a years worth of candy, she was overjoyed, her heart threatened to burst out of her chest in joy~ What was this feeling?
The wind teased her hair and she stared at him adoringly with her luminous aqua eyes, almost seeming like something out of a painting before she spoke. " That was really something Swellow~ i don't think anyone has ever done me such kindness~" She smiled at his proud stance, thinking he looked very much like a very proud and handsome pigeon, all puffed up like that~
She blushed at the compliment, a rather bright rosy hue washed over her cheeks~ she looked down for a second and scuffing a hoof absentmindedly, feeling as if she were a young filly with her first love~she looked back up, through a wave of her light blue hair that had fallen over her eyes and replied softly " You always have my thanks, my dear handsome Swellow~"

Swellow's muzzle turned a light shade of pink as he watched Bella. She was happy and it was him who brought her that joy, then she said something that made him blink 'my dear handsome Swellow' she called him hers and handsome as well. His chest still puffed up trying to cover his excitement over her small words. Remembering what she had said earlier he walked over to her and nuzzled her in a more romantic way then normal.
"How about we walk...I'd love to hear what you've been up to...and...apples I heard something about apples."
He was quiet content and at ease with her. Looking at her again he wondered why he had been so nervous to talk with her today. It wouldn't be any different he though. Stepping forward he looked over his shoulder and said with a laugh,
"When we've caught up I have something to talk to you about my beautiful Bella."

Bella was many things, a mother, a lover of types and a friend, but of course~no one could say Bella wasn't observant of the little things in life. It was the little things in life that made it enjoyable. Among the little things she had noticed thus far. The cute blush on Swellow's darker face, his proud stance and his sweet nuzzle.
She smiled, a dazzling smile just for him and returned the nuzzle~softly giggling " a walk would be~lovely~ and yes" she perked up " apples, i found a bunch of them on my walks around, i got some for you, if you'd like~"
She walked with him, enjoying the walk immensely, feeling warm all over~ she was quite sure it showed on her face~ she jokingly cursed her light colors, knowing the blush would show up clear as a bell.
She looked over at him, her aquamarine eyes gleaming, telling him about her days. How she went running after birds in the sky, making friends with little animals in the forest, finding fruit and enjoying the sunshine.
She felt at ease with him, and her heart beat for this wind even though she had only known him for a short while. It was a precious feeling.
"Oh? alright~" she smiled and led him to the clearing, trotting over to the little pile of apples like a overexcited filly. " here you are ^^ have your fill~ and tell me how you've been, then you can say what you will~ i'm eager to hear~"

Swellow took in the clearing Bella had lead him to. Smiling at her he nodded it seemed as if she had been keeping busy. Her eyes shimmered and danced it lifted his heart to see her so content so happy.
He slowly began to tell her of his flight how he had found beauty that only she compared to. As he leaned down and nibbled on an apple he wondered how to bring it up his eyes twinkled slightly.
"You know...what do you think of foals my beautiful Bella? I mean as a whole?"
He figured that would be his best way of asking. During his last trip he had felt a little worried and seeing the new parents he wondered if perhaps it would be a way for her to keep him by her side longer...that was depending on her.
"I only ask because I saw quiet a few this last outing. It's defiantly Spring around here. I...well I saw alot of wings grounded...I've never seen so many that seemed so happy...I...I don't think I'd be able to do that...be grounded...even for a foal...but uh...what about you...what do you think of them?"
As he asked he wondered if being a parent would change his mind, but secretly he hoped she would release him. She wouldn't want those things at least not with him hopefully. He loved Bella but he wasn't sure if life on the ground would be something he could live with even if it was with her.
Looking at her he wondered if perhaps those weren't the best choice of words. Thinking before he spoke this time,
"I mean...well if you would like children...with someone like me I guess would be the better way to ask that."
He wasn't quiet sure what answer he wanted. He wasn't even sure if he knew what he would do with either answer she could possibly give to him.
