Alcoholism has been something that has affected my family before I was even born. My dad is a bad alcoholic and we have gone through so much stuff because of it. Now one of my best friends is going through it with one of her relatives. It upsets me because I know EXACTLY what shes going through. I don't get how people can drink their lifes away. It doesnt only ruin them but it ruins their loved ones also. It affects their loved ones a great deal. I dont get why the government allows alcohol companies to sell it knowing what it can do. All of this for money when it ruins lives. I dont think its worth it.

Yes Alcoholism does horrible things to people, but I don't think haveing the Government ban it is an option. The reason being is the Government has in the past (not shure which years or how long) and it turned up very bad. People started making their own brewery systems and started robing to get it. Don't quote me if I'm wrong, but I belive that's when and why the mafia was started.
There has to be a way to get rid of it though. Maybe anti-alcohol clinics, kinda like anti-drug clenics. The best we can do for now though is pray for it, our friends, family, and everybody else.

I think that it isn't drinking thats the problem, it's getting drunk. There is plenty of alchohol in the bible, like Jesus turning water into wine. I think instead of banning alchohol that there should be a limit. Like bars should only give a person 2 alchoholic drinks a day (or week), or buying beers in 3 packs instead of 6 packs. I think more people would agree with that. THEN maybe they would ban alchohol.

That wouldn't work...I don't have time to tell my opinion, but to answer your question, people get lost in acohol because it drowns out the harsh realities of real life that they don't want to face, so they wash it away with acohol....

I actuslly think thats a good idea however alcoholics could still buiy more than one 3 pack and go 'bar hopping' unfortenetly I doubt it'll be stopped

That is true, and alcoholism has been around for ALONG time....it's not going to be easy to make it go away....it's always going to be there, but what I don't understand is why start drinking in the first place? I know once you start it's a good way to make things sort of go away, but, why even start? alcohol is nasty, literally....it almost made me throw up last time i had it....and it was mixed with something....yuck.....just the thought brings the taste back...

I'v tasted wine once or twice but i'd never do it again. All I want now is to further God's kingdom. I can't do that if i'm drunk.
The only way to stop things like this is to attack it from the source. If the world is truly worried about drunks than why aren't they banning alchohol?

Because it ain't possible, as said in an earlier post, people would just make it themselves and do it illegally, you can't make it just go away, but you can make the choice to not do it yourself...........i just got back from church, had so much fun, but my one friend wasn't there....made me sad....neway, and we had once talked about alcoholism, but i had fallen asleep, so i hadn't heard much...but i know from personal vision...that it won't just go away, it's kindof like pot, people still do pot, even though it's illegal......

the U.S. government tried to make alcohol illegal. the 21st Amendment ( i think) made it legal again, there were so many riots and boycotts and just all around angry people.
Funfact! the ancient Romans (whose wine Jesus encountered) was thick like syrup. at parties/weddings/whatever they drank wine for it would be cut with water (i.e. 3 parts water+1 part wine=weak wine).
alcohol in limited amounts has been proven to help the body (mainly wine) but too much of anything is bad.
that's one of the reasons Baptists don't drink any kind of alcohol.
