Muerta sat uncomfortably on a large boulder and watched as good-sized rabbit scurried past her a ways away. She scrambled to her feet, then reconsidered and sat back down. She sighed and growled slightly. She was a huntress. Her job was to hunt. But how could she hunt when she was pregnant? The dragon lightly poked her swollen belly and thought of the eggs inside. It was such a strange concept, pregnancy. There was so much involved and so much that had to happen to bring life to the world when it took so little to take life away. The idea was almost baffling to the death-obsessed dragon.

Another rabbit scurried past her paws. Muerta growled and dug her claws into the earth. She was a huntress! The pack depended on her! And she couldn't hunt and do her job because of these eggs in her! It almost pained Muerta not to be able to hunt, but... She had to think of the eggs' safety. They were her responsibility and her children. And even besides that, Muerta knew that Phoebe would kill her if the eggs were hurt. That alone was reason enough to be careful.

User ImageEver since meeting the troubled female, Kunoichi had been spending quite a bit of time thinking about her. It was strange knowing someone who seemed so distressed by being separated from her family. Sure, she felt a twinge of loneliness after leaving her own family, but she was never as torn up about it Annie seemed to be. She wanted to understand why the other female felt such pain and, for some reason, if there was anything she could do to help soothe that pain. While her philosophy typically left her feeling as little emotion as possible, but for some reason she couldn't suppress those emotions when it came to Annie and her situation.

As she wandered through the wilderness, once again off duty, this is what was on her mind. Her encounter with one of the princesses earlier had been somewhat enlightening (I'm going to assume. > > lol) and the more she learned about the spotted dragon the more she found herself wanting to know more. The whole thing was becoming more and more confusing to her. So very unlike herself, Kunoichi sighed quietly, trying to expel these thoughts from her mind and return to the peaceful state she usually was it. It didn't work, but something else distracted her from Annie. A fellow dark-pelted dragon of her pack.

Quickly she flipped through her memory to pull up the other dragon's name. Muerta. Quietly, she slinked around towards her packmate only to freeze as she saw her swollen belly. When had she become pregnant? Surely she would have noticed something like that...Unless, of course, Muerta had tried to hide it. Kunoichi hoped not, life was something to be appreciated regardless of the situation. She continued her approach and quietly called to her, "Greetings, Muerta."

Muerta looked up suddenly at her fellow dark-pelted comrade from the pack. She had not really talked to this one much, and Muerta felt a tad apprehensive around her, even if they were both darkly colored. She could recognize the face, but had trouble placing a name to it... Then she remembered and smiled. "Greetings to you, Kunoichi. How are you on this pleasant day?" The day wasn't exactly pleasant: there were dark clouds hanging over everything and the wind blew with a chilly disposition, but Muerta found it logical to try and make polite conversation.

All the while when talking with her pack-mate, Muerta had kept one paw held across her swollen belly. Even with this dragon being part of her pack and being a dark pelt as herself, with the safety of her eggs in jeopardy everywhere she went, Muerta took no chances. She could not risk letting her children being hurt. Then again, she thought to herself, What could I possibly know about motherhood? I know nothing but death.

Kunoichi's eyes drifted to the grey sky, momentarily wondering when, not if for there certainly wasn't any doubt from the looks of the clouds, it would rain, "Quite well, I would say." There wasn't any need to bring up her own issues to an expectant mother. Surely Muerta had enough on her mind, possibly adding on to that was unnecessary. As she looked back to her pack mate, she noticed her stance, only the slightest bit protective of the children in her womb, but it was noticeable to a well trained eye such as Kunoichi's. She stopped where she was and seated herself, keeping plenty of room between them without giving off a feeling of distance.

"And you? I wasn't aware that you were pregnant. I give you my congratulations." Many questions came to her mind as she spoke to the other female. Who the father was, if he was a member of the pack, how Muerta felt about becoming a mother. Certainly she couldn't have felt all to wonderful about it, considering she was out here alone and, seemingly, not in the most ecstatic of moods.

Muerta's lips curled back in the faintest of snarls at Kunoichi's mention of her pregnancy. It was absolutely none of her business. But still... She was being polite and not being rude like many of the other members of the pack would, so Muerta did her best to relax around her pack-mate. "Yes... Thank you. It wasn't exactly planned, in any case, but it's my responsibility and now that I am to be a mother, I have to.. take certain precautions." Muerta smiled at Kuno. "You know how the bright-pelts are. Anything little mistake that we do suddenly becomes the end of the world for them. That's why this big mistake has been, so far, under wraps."

Muerta glanced unconsciously at her swollen belly and laughed slightly. "To be completely honest, I haven't the faintest idea how to be a mother. I know I need to protect my little ones, but I've been alone for so much of my life that I don't know how exactly to work with them and all. I have no memory of my own parents, so I cannot learn from their example." The huntress glanced up at Kuno. "You could say that I am in a bit of a bind."

"Ah, I see." So that was why she hadn't heard of it and why Muerta seemed less than thrilled with the occasion. It was an accident, one the brighter members of the pack would probably see as more proof that dark dragons were lesser than them. But that was the way of things. Kunoichi didn't care what the others thought of it, it wouldn't change her place in the pack. Only her own actions could do that. But for Muerta, positive support would be far more helpful than criticism and scorn, and Kunoichi had no reason to look at Muerta in such a way.

"I'm sure things will turn out well. New members to the pack are a thing to be welcomed and having children around will certainly raise spirits. A number of our members have seemed rather down of late." Her thoughts went right back to Annie and suddenly the idea of young ones was much more appealing. When the other dragon had spoken of caring for the princesses when they were young she had seemed so happy. Perhaps this would take her mind off the family she seemed so forlorn over.

Giving her head a subtle shake, Kunoichi returned to Muerta and her concerns, "Few of us know the wonders of motherhood. But there are many of us here and I'm sure we will be glad to help you if you ever need it. Certainly Dryad will be thrilled to assist you in whatever way is necessary. She is a nanny after all."
