Story: from here
Quote:
In the year 2056 - the not so distant future - an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants, for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family's mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.

Review:
I love musicals, so much, and especially when they're a little alternative. I grew up on Rocky Horror Picture Show and loved the Buffy special 'once more with feeling' so i had a good idea that I'd love this...provided i could get past the gore (after all it being made by the 'saw 2' people put me off).

Luckily, if you have a semi-decent stomach you'll be fine. The gore is comic-book style and more funny or matter-of-fact than anything else. the only bit I flinched/hid for was an eye gouging scene(cos eye freak me out) but aside from that it's dandy :p

Aaanyways, gore aside, Repo! The genetic opera is a must-see film for anyone with a love of the sci-fi and gothic, especially if you like your tongue firmly planted in your cheek. Stylistically, the film is gorgeous. The costumes are over the top, the landscape is dystopian, surreal and nicely rendered, and it all hangs in lush grim layers.
The songs themselves - and yes, 99-100% of the film is sung - are also on the whole very good. Personally a couple of talking-singing scenes were slightly forced, but on the whole they were very well done. The music take son some of rock's greatest musicians to contribute too, which is great, and you can tell the quality.
Acting wise, it's a great turn all round, with over-the-top, great performances. Anthony head is in a league of his own, as ever (but then i am somewhat of a fangirl) as he plays the Repoman, and even Paris Hilton actually shows herself off as a decent performer and singer, which was a great surprise for me. (man i feel bitchy saying that, but you know what i mean).
Finally, the story is also great, with a good few twists, and I love the comic-book flashback scenes that explain each character's past from 17 years ago. the comic book panels, plus the story, scenes and music all blend together excellently for a lush cult classic.
In short - a great film for anyone who loves music and the macabre. I definitely recommend it.

Quotes:

Nathan Wallace: I'm the monster. I'm the villain. What perfection. What precision! Keen incisions, I deliver. Unscathed organs, I deliver. Repossession, I deliver. I'm the Repo! Legal assassin!

Luigi Largo: Someone's gonna hang if I don't get my coffee.
Luigi's Gopher: Decaf?
Luigi Largo: I will shoot you in the face.

DAMN YOU DT!!!! I WAS GONNA WRITE A REVIEW FOR IT MYSELF!!! DX

but yesh, is friggin AMAZING, found out about it from a couple of friends, since the movie had practically no marketing campaign at all, but my GOD, Repo! is THE best movie ive ever seen (topping the first Alladin movie)

being somewhat of an Anthony Stewart Head fan myself (*internet high five* XD), finding out that Giles was in it (yes, when i hear Anthony Stewart Head, i think of Buffy, and now, Repo! >.<) i was like MUST. SEE. MOVIE! XD
more so after finding out that he rips someones spine out (which, while i imagined him to have a sadistic smile while ripping out the dudes spine, was a little disappointed when i saw that he had no such smile, but Thankless Job made me giggle like mad, cause its just awesome seeing Giles mutilate some poor sod and use him as a ventriloquist dummy >.>)

was a little shocked when i found out that Alexa Vega was in it O.o cause the last movie i remember seeing her in was Spy Kids
but they couldnt have gotten anyone better to play Shilo
ADD/mind-gutter moment, you think they made her night gown short enough? lol she actually flashes the camera (unintentionally) once >.> dont look at me like that damn it! at least shes legal ಠ_ಠ

Bill Moseley (House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects) was the best fit for the sociopathic Luigi Largo

cant say much about Nivek Ogre, who plays Pavi Largo, other than he did an amazing job

Paris Hilton, who i thought of as the dumb blonde stereotype given life, i have a bit more respect for now, seeing as how she did a great job playing Amber Sweet, she's actually a pretty good singer too O.o

move aside Angelina Jolie, i have a new celeb crush heart
Sarah Brightman, my god, Sarah Brightman (dont go there klikk ಠ_ಠ)
she is beautiful and has an AMAZING voice to go with her almost goddess like beauty, i get chills (of the good kind) whenever i listen to Chase the Morning, which, next to Chromaggia, is my favorite song with Sarah Brightman in it
also, the following comment (from a video of Chase the Morning, which i cant find for some reason O.o) pretty much sums up my thoughts on the movie and Sarah Brightman:

Movie = greatness
Sarah Brightman = Goddess

long story short, i have nothing negative to say about Repo! other than i'd give it an 11/10 >.>

also, whats everyone else's opinion on Seventeen? it seems that most people dont like much, whereas some actually like it, i actually think its pretty good, though it wasnt until i watched the movie a second time with audio commentary (from the director, Alexa, Ogre, and Moseley) that i found out that Joan Jett makes a cameo during that song (i'll be honest, i first thought it was dude...)

ive actually watched it three times so far, all within the span of a day >.> second time was with the afore mentioned commentary, the third time was cause the songs are amazing and i had to listen to them again, but without the commentary

i also bought the soundtrack from iTunes, my only gripe is the sound effects were removed D:
the songs just dont sound right without the sound effects, though the songs are still amazing XD

Edit: just looked at the poll, damn, cant i pick both? D:
