[Maybe he can explain to her the name change, and by the end of the Rp, she can start going by her new name. That would be cute xD]

The lands were strange, or at least different than what she was used to. The plains and savannah held nothing on this land. The trees created a darker enviroment, and the mossy lands around her were full of swamps and heavy treelines. Her eyes took in the scenery, their magenta hue gleaming as she noticed that she rather liked the shadows. She wasnt so visible here, as the golden savannah grasses had made her. She was a scared little thing, not wanting to be alone, ever. It was too much of a vulnerable feeling, and if there was one thing the female hated.. it was being vulnerable, or feeling like she was.
Her patchy pelt almost blended into the trees, and she took a deep breath. She wanted to stay, and stay she would.. Of course, if she was allowed to. She needed to find someone who lived here.. She wanted to learn about these lands.

The tip of her tail swished with ease as she swung it back and forth as she moved forward. A smaller lioness, she wasnt anything great like some of the larger females she had seen around her travels. She had a good heart though, and being little didn't seem to phase her in the slightest.

When she thought she heard something, she perked an ear, and sighed. What on earth could she be getting close to? She half hoped it was not an aligator waiting to make a meal of her. Though she thought it sounded like pawsteps, not the trail of a reptile.

"Hello?"

Padding through the thick forests and even thicker mud, the lion once known as Kamau was on a hunt for his pride. It was bizarre for the formerly independent and slightly self-centered male was now hunting not for himself, not only for his daughter, but for an entire pride. He'd had mild success as he acclimated to the pride. Most of his early kills were owed in part to Inija who showed him the ways of swamp hunting.

But today, what he came upon was not in the least anything he wanted to kill. Instead, through the large and flourishing leaves of plants and ferns, he saw a white, tan, and black form. Slinking closer, his brown body blending in quite well, he went in for a better look. To his surprise (and perhaps a minor sense of delight) it was a lioness! And a pretty one at that. But he didn't know her intentions, so he laid low. She called out, as though she sensed him being near. Rim kept his white mouth shut until somehow he could learn more about her. She didn't seem to be on the hunt as he was. Perhaps she was lost? Over the past weeks, he'd begun to learn the lands pretty well, he could help. But... Rim was shy, more content to watch. However, a bad step meant he slipped and a paw fell into a muddy spot, sending up a squelching noise. Bleh. He still wasn't used to that part of a swamp.

His cover blow, the lion straightened himself and fixed a stray hair or two before he walked out into the clearing where she stood, slowly, and at a distance. Rim didn't want to start out on the bad paw with this female and make her nervous. "Hello," he spoke with a smile and his green eyes were gentle, yet alight with curiosity, "Can I help you with something?"

She swore she heard something.. But no one responded at first and she rolled her shoulders as if shrugging. She supposed maybe she could be hearing things, but what good would a lioness be to a pride, if she couldn't hear very well?
She would have continued on, but something told her she wasnt making things up. Something had to be there.
She was a good huntress, and she had a nose for the talent. She knew the sounds of an empty forest, or a forest with someone who was wallowing around in it.

Her paws stuck in the mud, and she flexed her toes like she was enjoying the feeling of mud between her paws. She just liked to get dirty and enjoy herself.. But mud was something she rarely experienced where she came from.

When he emerged from the shadows, she let out a squeak of surprise, but she smiled nonetheless. He was a smaller lion, not really as big as some she had come across in her travels. But he was handsome male, and she felt herself blush that she had squeaked so indignantly.

"Hello! Maybe you can.." She responded, noting the mud caked around his paws, and hoping maybe he belonged to these lands.

"Perhaps you could tell me exactly where I am?" She asked, her voice that of a lost cub, though she had that sexy appeal to it that never really left. It was like a purr was always resonating in her voice.

"My name is Kiira'Lani..Kiira for short." She greeted.

Rim smiled, her squeak having amused him, but he kept in a laugh so as to not offend her. The rabbit pouch around his neck hung slack as he bobbed his head in a greeting. "Well, miss, I'll do my best to help. These are the Jini-msemi Swamplands. There is a pride that lives here, and I am one of them- but recently joined." He enjoyed the sound of her voice, and perhaps selfishly, he wanted to hear more.

"Aaah, Kiira, it's very nice to meet you. I'm Kam-... Rim." He grinned sheepishly, still not entirely used to introducing himself by his new name yet, but slowly it was growing on him. "If you don't mind my asking, Kiira," casually, he circled her but at a distance that would leave her comfortable still, "Where do you come from? Do you have a pride? A family? ...A mate?" He tilted his head, green eyes examining the fine form of the female. The last of his questions was perhaps one of a more personal interest.

She was very hard to offend. SHe wasnt the type to be riled up easily. She enjoyed the simple life, and if that meant keeping alot of drama and offense out of her life..then she was more than willing to do it.
She smiled, her tail flicking from side to side as she watched the male. Her eyes went to the rabbit pouch around his neck, and she smiled at the craftmanship.

"I like your pouch." She nodded, a small grin escaping her maw.

"Jini-Msemi swamplands.." She repeated, giving a look around as if she was mentally noting to remember what to call this place.

"Oh you live here? If.. If youd want to teach me more, maybe I could find a home in this place. I have no where else to go, and all." She looked sheepish, and a blush tinged her white and ebony cheeks.

"Its a pleasure Rim," She nodded in greeting. When he continued takling to her, and trying to learn more about her she smiled and shook her head.

"Nope. I have no one, but little ol' me. I suppose Ive been traveling too long for me to have anything." She mused, but looked up at him with a gleam in her eye.

Rim looked down his nose at his pouch, then back at Kiira. "Well thank you." He threw out his chest a little to advertise it more, then nodded as she repeated the pride name, a sort of way of telling her she'd gotten it right. The lion nodded again, "I do, with my daughter." He liked this new lioness, so he thought it best to be honest and forthcoming rather than to spring the surprise of a cub on her later. "I'd be happy to show you around, and even happier if you stayed a while, at least."

He grinned and thought her blushing quite cute. And even more appealing when he learned that for her, there were no strings attached. "Well if you join us here, you'll have a whole new family! And me included." The lion winked and turned, as though inviting her to follow as he lead her through the swamps to the heart of the pride for introductions and inductions of the sort.

The flirt in her made her purr at his comment, though she quickly stopped once she realized what she was doing. He had said she would be part of his family.. That made her smile, and she nodded happily.

"So you have a daughter!" She said with a little giggle. She loved kids, or at least, she was good with them. Many a cub had met her on her journeys, and wished she would stay awhile to play their games with them.

"So I would really like to stay here.. And Id like to belong to a family."
She said with a grin, and followed behind him, making sure she kept up with him as he walked her through.

Rim grinned, "Yes, she's just a little one, entirely brown, too. It's hard to tell if she's clean as a whistle or been rolling in the mud until you get right on her, haha." Oh yes, she was a sweetie. He wasn't the best father, nor did he feel the strongest of bonds, but he loved his daughter nonetheless and she was well cared for by nannies of the pride.

His smile grew wider when she said she'd like to stay. "Really? Well that's wonderful. You're more than welcome." He leaned close to her and gently nuzzled her cheek, a sort of lion-handshake, and doing it actually made him quite shy. Rim led the way with light footsteps over the soggy patches of ground, and wove for dryer spots, constantly looking over his shoulder to ensure he'd not lost his new friend on the way.

"Well Im sure shes beautiful, and quite the charmer." She smiled, happy to hear that he had a daughter to call his own. She hoped to meet her one day, as she sounded delightful. She could feel herself simply growing excited at the life she could have here.

When he nuzzled her cheek, she blushed, her white and ebony splashed cheeks turning a bright pink color. She giggled, and looked away, though looked back at him, and gave him one in return. Hoping that by doing it first, she had not pushed any of his boundaries.
She followed easily, though her paws sank here and there, and she found herself jumping from patch to patch with great amusement.

Rim nodded, he was quite fond of his daughter, though he could certainly be a better father to her. He'd have to do that sooner rather than later. He noticed her blush was quite cute before she returned, and he was glad to have darker cheeks that would hopefully conceal one of his own.

His walk had a spring in his step as he walked. Admittedly the lion was a little nervous. He'd never brought anyone back to the pride- unless his daughter counted, but he'd been accepted into it easily enough so Rim wasn't all too concerned. Kiira wasn't likely to get chased out. Oh yeah...

"When you join the pride," he said, looking over his shoulder to talk to her, and a smile growing as he saw her bouncing about, "you'll need to take a new name. Mine used to be Kamau. And like I said, I'm Rim now."

She hoped she wouldnt have to leave the male, because already she felt a tie to him.. She would love to meet his daughter, and being as she didnt have a mother...Didnt every little girl need a mothers guidance? She knew it was too soon to say anything about it, but she would have loved to assume the role. It was in her nature to love children, and a motherless one seemed perfect for nurturing.

"A new name?" She asked, pulling out of her thoughts and back to reality. She wasnt sure she had ever thought of getting a new name, but if he could do it, why couldnt she?

"Hmm.."
She thought deeply, and wondered what would be a good name for her..

[Maybe he could suggest it to her, her name is to be Kimama, meaning Butterfly<33]
PostPosted: Fri Jun 04, 2010 12:19 pm

Unbeknownst to Kiira, Rim was feeling the same way. Raising Seyo was a work in progress, and with the pride it wasn't the struggle it would have otherwise been, but with a mother, it would be ten times easier. A hundred times easier! He glanced back at her with his jade-green eyes before looking away quickly, and shyly.

As they neared the pride, he too was deep in thought for a name for Kiira. He looked blankly ahead of them until the dappled light caught movement up ahead, and his attention was called to the spectacle. A vibrant butterfly floated with ease through the thick jungle, and he watched it for a while until he was turned around and his eyes came to rest on his companion.

"How about Kimama?" He asked, tilting his head while still looking at her and his pace slowing. "It means butterfly." He smiled sheepishly at the prospect of naming her, and he quickly picked up his pace once more.

Kimama... She rolled it over her tongue and smiled as she found the ring of it quite nice. She gave a bemused grin, and nodded, her mane fluff bouncing with the movement.

"Butterfly! Oh I think I like Kimama." She responded, and blushed a little..
Should she ask her newfound companion to stick around? She didnt want to be left alone, not now. She had been alone for so long, that this attention was starting to make her truly feel at home.
She felt safe, though she wasnt sure if she had the right to. Would Rim mind her feeling safe around him?

"So..Do you have a home? Will I have to find a den of my own?"
She asked tentatively, not wanting to completely ask him outright to stick around.
Though she worried that maybe that was even too forward as she stated it.

Rim looked at his muddy feet and said in a hushed tone, "Good... I'm glad." They were nearly to the body of the pride; the dens were the closest part. And how convenient that she'd just inquired about them! He looked back at her and smiled, "Yes, and we're almost there!"

It was a very humble abode, probably the standard for a family unit- a mother father, and more than one cub, so he and Seyo had plenty of room. It seemed his daughter was out, probably getting lessons from a nanny or playing with juveniles her own age, so the den was empty. He nodded towards it, "This is it." Looking shyly at her, he then added, "There's plenty of room for another adult, and even more cubs..." Finally, he met her eyes. "I'd like it very much if you could stay- Ah, at least to meet Seyo."

Rim hated how shy he was around Kimama. Had he just asked her to move in!? He'd love it if she did, but he wasn't sure how she felt. But looking at the lioness, it slowly dawned on him that she felt the same way.

The end
