Gunna pull him out for the time being.
I got me some ideas I want to work on.

Name: Fiyero
Age: Nineteen
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: Beastcraft
Rank: Apprentice Beastcraft / Candidate

History: Like many Weyrbrats, Fiyero’s mother worked in the lower caverns and his father was a rider, a bronzerider in fact. He grew up admiring his father but never had a close relationship with him or with his mother. Fiyero was Searched by a bronze dragon one afternoon when he was eleven, just before he would have been eligible for default candidacy afforded to all Weyrborn children. He was a natural with dragons, he could read them easy as could be without the gift of mindspeak and knew how to work around them instinctively. This was probably a combination of natural gift and a dangerous confidence that made him fearless around the dragons.

He learned fast, worked hard, and quickly became a favourite for impressing. It was surprising therefore when he finally got a chance to stand he was passed over. It happened again, and again. As he started creeping nearer the time when he would be to old to impress it was suggested that he take up craft. Since he was a little boy he had assumed he would be a Dragonrider, it was all he ever wanted. He couldn’t imagine anything else, but he knew the odds of impressing after being passed over so many times.

He had always had a way with animals, any kind of animal, so he thought he would go into Beastcraft and began working more with the Beastcrafters working in the Wyre. It was suggested to him, when he was ready, that he might go into dragonhealing.

Appearance: Fiyero inherited his father’s looks. He is tall, not overly so, just at the high end of the average, his brown hair is a just a little bit to long to be considered short cut and usually in a state of minor disarray. The work he does keeps him in good shape, but he isn’t physically as strong as some of the other boys his age. He has slender hands with long fingers, strong but exact. People might assume he was a Harper or Tailor, he is good with his hands and quick on his feet. His face is heart shaped with a strong chin, features that most people would associate with a thief or a trickster, pretty but obviously hiding something, and the playful smile he always wears emphasizes the idea. His eyes are a rich shade of brown, and balance out his face nicely.

Personality: Fiyero is ambitious but good natured. He has an easy going air that’s almost contagious but also has keen sense of reality and cunning mind. He likes to think of himself as a leader, and it’s hard not to agree. There is that intangible quality about him makes him a likable guy. He is nice to everyone, always open and friendly. He does have a bit of an ego and can act so pompous at times that you just want to hit him on the head with a rock, but he always means it in jest. It’s true that he thinks highly of himself but he is confident that everyone else does too.

It’s not vanity that fuels his ego, its pride. Everything he is he worked hard, very hard, to be. When he wants something – and there are plenty of things he wants – Fiyero will work himself to death to get it. He is under no false assumptions that things will ‘just work out’, he makes them happen. Ultimately he has his own interests at heart, he genuinely cares about people and really is a nice guy, but he is perfectly aware that being likable gives him an advantage. Good deeds repay themselves, after all.

After his lack of success on the sands his confidence in becoming a rider has wavered slightly. Impressing a dragon is one thing that you can’t make happen just by working hard. The lack of control is something he can’t stand. It’s turning him bitter, making him frustrated a quick to anger. He doesn’t let it show, he knows that his resentment is unjustified, but that doesn’t stop him from feeling it. Fiyero’s was never one to hold a grudge but lately his temper has been flaring up, working with his reckless nature to potentially disastrous ends.

First off, welcome to DRoP! You've got good length in your profile and a good grasp of Pern, so it'll just be sort of small details that need fixing and you should be good. <3

- Craft. Dragonhealing is a cross-craft, which means it requires a person of Journeyman level in either Beastcrafting or Healing. Since we're currently not allowing any more Journeyman candidates, unfortunately he can't be a Dragonhealer. He's welcome to have any Hold craft, but if you pick a Hallcraft for him then he wouldn't be living at the Weyr.

Looks like you changed it while I was writing, so nevermind! XD

- Riders don't Search within the Weyr, since all Weyrbrats can Stand as long as they're able.

- I need you to elaborate on why he has a natural gift for reading dragons and knowing how to work around them. How often has he seen a dragon up close before? Also, why does he have a way with animals? What kind of exposure has he had to animals besides the wherries the Weyr has for dragon food? Tell me a little more about his relationship with the animals at HR as well, remembering they're mostly wherries for food. What was his relationship with the Journeymen/Master he worked under?

- Similarly, what would make him a favourite for impressing? Just working hard? There are lots and lots of candidates at HR who work hard, so what makes him special?

- I already mentioned the Dragonhealing stuff, so I wouldn't go into that again. Candidates aren't taught about Dragonhealing, certainly not in any great detail. At best, he may know some common Weyrling ailments, but that kind of stuff is taught to Jr. Weyrlings, since they actually have a dragon to care for.

Overall, I'd be careful with making him seem extra special in his history. Him feeling special or amazing is definitely cool (as is the bronzerider father), but to then have him Searched by a bronzerider, be a favourite for Impression, be excellent with dragons and animals, it just gets to be a little too much special snowflake. Even if he thinks he's great, I'd still like to see him portrayed as at least having a normal Weyrbrat life. Make sense?

And personality looks great! Just fix up the other little things and he's good to go!

I see where you are coming from. I didnt mean to make him seem like
a godling XD . I'll change him up, but I think for the time being I'm just
going to pull him out all together and just work with Koriander. I like Fi,
but I have an idea of how I want him to be and it will take some time to
build him up right. And I have decided I am not going to try and get him
to get a dragon... I have other ideas for him cool . I liked the whole "thinks
he is gods gift to dragons" and gets completely looked over aspect, I'm
going to build on that. Make him a little more bitter and resentful.
