F'len blinked slowly to wakefulness aware that something wasn't right. He didn't stay in the candidates quarters now that he had impressed, of course. But that wasn't something that would phase him at all. Still he couldn't quite figure out what was causing this discomfiture. He turned his head to at look his lifemate and frowned at the strange sight before him. Somehow he was seeing the room from two positions at once.
The blue's sleepy sounds informed him that the dragon was rousing but still not completely awake. F'len carefully turned his head and very nearly startled himself off the shelf as Skananth's head moved along with his and the double image swayed and merged in incomprehensible patterns. When his vision settled he could see Skananth looking at him while at the same time he was staring at his own startled face. It was distinctly odd and not to mention a little disconcerting.
Taking a deep breath and closing his eyes, he realized he could still see his own face. It was actually much easier to see without the double image. This was really strange, but he wasn't afraid. J'ev had said they might be trading emotions while the bond was new, though he'd had no idea he might actually be able to use Skananth's eyes. The problem was, how could he stop looking through Skananth's eyes?
He should go for help he thought to himself. Cautiously he tried to move a hand. It worked fine, his fingers flexing properly as they should. Good. He saw himself nod and then smile. Now to try something a little harder. Slowly he pushed himself to the edge of the shelf and swung his feet over the side. This was so bizarre. But he could not go about the rest of the day like this. He needed to get help.
Gently he placed his feet on the ground, but the difference between what he could feel and what he was seeing was so jarring he misjudged the distance and fell forward onto the ground. It wasn't a hard fall, but it was difficult to balance when the room kept shifting back and forth.
The world rocked once more and Skananth was suddenly on his feet and moving. Instinctively F'len opened his own eyes as his mind tried to find some sort of normalcy. He bent over immediately where he was feeling a bit ill. This wasn't working at all, time to try another approach.
'F'len mine, are you all right? You do not feel all right.' The big blue hovered next to him humming in concern.
Closing his eyes F'len forced the sudden panic down as best he could by chanting to himself that it wasn't just his own feelings he was feeling it was Skananth's as well. Skananth! Of course, he should have realized. But he wasn't used to being bonded to a dragon. "I'm fine, Skananth." He said hoping he didn't sound as shaky as he felt. "I'm just not used to having someone else in my head. It's going to take a little practice I think before we get it right. Can you please ask Throth to tell his rider that we're a bit stuck at the moment and could use some help?
'Of course, mine. Anything to help." Skananth nodded more calmly and then wuffled a wordless apology as F'len winced at the sudden motion.

Throth was sunbathing when the message came through. The old blue opened one eye and blinked slowly, almost as though expecting the Weyrling to be standing before him. Sadly, it was not so, which meant he had to seek out the source of the voice and respond to it.
You are stuck? In what way? Did you get your head stuck chasing tunnelsnakes once? There was once a Weyrling who did that. Most unfortunate. I wish I could remember his name.... Well, nevermind. But if you need help you must be more specific. I cannot help you if you are going to be vague.
Nor could he tell J'ev, for that matter. His wouldn't mind – naturally, F'len was one of his Weyrlings – but there was no reason for the Weyrlingmaster to jump out of bed and rush off to find F'len and Skananth. If the other blue's tone was anything to go by, it didn't seem life threatening, which was probably a good sign.
Where you are might also be beneficial if I am to send help, Throth added as an afterthought.
