"...I can do better!"
This is a private RP between Jianyu [Kuro-Mizuki] and Bataar [Kayakurai].
Setting: Artisan's Path Midday; a bustling street filled with talkative, busy patrons. Jianyu is getting his bow fixed when he's met by Bataar. Much mayhem ensues, which ends with Bataar getting a little does of something unexpected...

"It's broken." the woodsmith said.
Jianyu frowned. "I know it's broken." he said irritably, fingers twisting around the bow in his hand. "That's why I brought it to you, isn't it? You're supposed to fix it."
The woodsmith was looking at him with an expression of disgust. Jianyu stared mutely back, his face dark. The fact that he had to take his bow to a Noble woodsmith had not been one that had made his parents pleased, but Zemar was the best woodsmith in Lunaria. His woodwork was masterful, beautiful, and Jianyu had wanted the very best to fix the crack that ran down the center of his bow.
Though it was quite obvious from Zemar's expression that he found taking on a young Legion client was quite distasteful to him. Heaving a short grunt of disgust, Zemar all but snatched Jianyu's bow from him, holding it his large, work-roughened hands carefully.
"Stay here." he ordered, pointing a thick finger at Jianyu. "I'll have this done in twenty minutes."
Obviously he was afraid Jianyu would gyp him of his money. Frowning slightly, Jianyu turned around, leaning his back against the table, crossing his arms over his chest. The people around him were bustling around, the Nobles carefully avoiding the Legions, each speaking with those of their own factions, but cautiously ignoring the others. It was interesting, yet rather ironic at the same time.
Jianyu toyed with the braid in his hair. Guess I'll just have to wait, then.

Bataar trundled down the street, his green eyes attentive as he headed along Artisan's Path. He was still exploring the Imperial City; he'd been terribly confused ever since he'd arrived and had resolved not to get lost again. And so, despite forgetting almost immediately where he'd last been, the maroon Lunarian was attempting to create a mental map. His plan really wasn't working, either. In fact, Bataar's frustration with city life was only expanding. 'The only good thing about the city is all the cute little rats...' Bat mused, smiling idly at one of the tiny rodents as it skittered over his boot in order to cross the street.
He trekked on, not bothering to look at anything in particular(this was probably the reason he couldn't remember the layout of the city at all) as he went. All was good and well, too, until the Legioneer managed to catch his eye. The Mongol paused in the middle of the street, his facial features undergoing a series of rapid changes from shock to uncertainty to downright anger.
Just five feet or so in front of him stood Jianyu, a fellow student who had managed to injure Bat's leg in combat; he'd even gotten a scar! It didn't matter that he'd been boasting of far grander things when explaining his scar, either. He'd limped for the rest of that day and had even had to figure out how to properly bandage the wound. But... he'd won. Of course he'd won. The thick-headed Bataar refused to consider the fight a draw of any sort. He was too good for a damned draw.
Sure, it had been a draw and he'd even almost lost, but that wasn't going to stop him. "Hey, pipsqueak!"
This was going to turn into one hell of a vicious cycle.

"Hey, pipsqueak!"
The taunting voice that suddenly boomed behind him turned Jianyu's blood cold. He recognized the sneering tone immediately, and he was not pleased that he had to turn around and face the eminent brashess that was the Noble.
But turn around he did, and Jianyu narrowed his eyes landed on none other than Bataar; the young man he had injured a few days previous. It was like being thrown back into a nightmare that you were trying to avoid.
"You again." Jianyu said, and his voice was even, controlled, though he was irritated by the mere fact that he had to stand here with this other young man. "What do you want? Come here to lose again?"

Bataar couldn't help but grin at Jianyu's expression; it gave the Mongol pleasure to know that he was the bane of someone's existence. Of course, it helped his pride that he'd decided to interpret that particular look as fear.
The thick-headed Lunarian puffed out his chest and stood a little straighter in order to gain whatever advantage possible. It would be funny if Jianyu screamed and ran away, of course; Bat had had many fantasies of that sort since they'd last encountered eachother. Mainly, though, he just wanted to beat the Legioneer to a pulp. He could hardly function knowing that their fight had ended in a draw.
That damned Legioneer! He was full of himself. "You mean win again?" Bataar snorted, looking smug with himself. He refused to admit that in the end they'd been even. That was a much too humiliating idea for him to handle and besides, it boosted his morale to think that he'd actually won.
"And why are you here?" Bat sneered, hardly perceptive enough to draw any conclusions.

Jianyu scowled.
"'Win?'" he scoffed, folding his arms across his chest. "Hardly. You could barely walk after I shot you with that arrow, and besides, you left the fight when it wasn't even finished yet. And we both know that I was the one who came out victorious in that fight. You're just a coward."
He was taunting him, and Jianyu was getting a sort of sadistic pleasure from doing so. It had been quite a long time since he had been this worked up over another human being, and taunting the Noble made him feel quite energized. It amused him greatly, but at the same time, just being around the insulting, obnoxious Bataar irritated him to no end.
"Coward." he said again, just to be spiteful.

"Yeah, well you know what? You were on the ground when I left!" Bataar stabbed a finger at Jianyu, looking pleased with his argument. His mind flourished in situations such as this and he was capable of throwing some rather good insults, which he was fully planning on with this dumb Legioneer. The reason for any credible insult he made at all was probably because he'd thought long and hard of all the things he'd yell at Jianyu if they met again. Of course, his hate was just about the only thing that he was capable of thinking about in his spare time; otherwise Bataar really didn't think much at all.
This coward business was beginning to piss the Mongol off. "I'm not a coward. I'm just a good person." Bataar glowered down at Jianyu, using his height and muscle mass to his advantage as he defended his pride. "You just looked so pathetic that I had to leave you there; how could I fight a weakling and still call myself a man?" Part of his statement made no sense whatsoever, but the basic idea was likely conveyed to his enemy.
Their new rivalry hardly seemed as if it was going to be pleasant.

SAY WHAT?! Jianyu's mind screamed at him, but he didn't yell out loud. Instead, he glared at Bataar, his hands clenching into fists. He knew that he couldn't fight him in hand-to-hand combat, especially here, in the street, with dozens upon dozens of people surrounding them, but Bataar's insults were irritating him. Plus that damned stubborn belief that the Noble held about beating him was completely untrue. Jianyu knew that he, himself, had actually been the victorious one, despite what the Noble in front of him was proclaiming.
"I am not pathetic." Jianyu answered hotly, as his face reddened. "I was still perfectly capable of fighting you without my weapon. You are the one that decided to leave the fight and walk away. Besides, I was just gathering my breath on the ground. I wasn't injured or anything."
That was mostly a lie, since he had been having trouble breathing from Bataar's hit to his chest, but there was no way in hell he'd be letting Bataar have any knowledge of that little fact.

Bataar was all for a fist-fight in the middle of the street, but he'd decided to wait on this one. After all, he still had some things to say and do-- he'd played this situation out in his mind a hundred different tmes and all of his time, thought, and effort would be wasted if he didn't stay here and insult Jianyu to no end. Besides that, he'd won, of course. This legioneer deserved to be enlightened of Bat's victory.
"I would say that you're definitely pathetic. Look at you, pipsqueak!" That was Bataar's new favorite name for fellow students such as Jianyu who had barely any muscle mass when compared to himself. Being the big-headed Mongol that he was, Bat was positive that his muscles were an extreme advantage that could easily trump anything else-- besides, maybe, every weapon known to man. 'Note to self: start carrying around something to kill people with besides my muscles.' Oh, yeah. He was the smart one now! Never mind that Bataar almost never even got to the first point on his to-do lists.
The maroon Lunarian had been left with a pretty bad limp for a day or two after the fight, himself, although he'd been lucky that the arrow hadn't managed to cause any sort of major damage. It didn't matter, anyway; he still wanted his revenge.
"Yeah, right! That's a lie!" The brawny youth exclaimed, glaring at the Legioneer.

Bataar was really making Jianyu irritated.
Also that "pipsqueak" thing was annoying. Especially since Jianyu was well aware of the fact that he was not exactly big and brawny like the maroon Lunarian standing in front of him. He was lithe, not muscular; thin, not immense, like Bataar. He had the sinking suspicion that were he to actually get in a fist fight with Bataar, he would lose.
And by quite a lot.
The thought was not exactly comforting to Jianyu.
"I do not lie." Jianyu snapped, lying through his teeth. "You are the one that left. Therefore you are the loser. I am the one that was sensible enough to try and catch my breath, but then you left, which leaves me the victorious one.
"Besides," Jianyu added, arching one eyebrow. "Lying makes you look bad. So does losing. Which you did, by the way. So I wouldn't make your image worse by trying to defend yourself with useless and irrelevant, and altogether untrue facts."

Bataar was confident in his wrestling skills and was all too ready to flaunt them. Besides that, if they managed to get into a fight this time it didn't seem as if he'd have an arrow sticking out of his leg. After all, Jianyu seemed to be missing the one thing that made him whole in a fight; where was this pipsqueak's bow? Bat frowned and examined the other Lunarian, searching for a visible weapon and coming up short. Well, damn. He had quite the blatant advantage now(or so he thought).
"Hey, runt, where's your bow?" It was all too tempting to directly confirm what he'd already found out, although it was disappointing in the slightest that he wouldn't come away with an awesome scar from this particular encounter.
He listened to Jianyu's small speech, his brows furrowing as he considered the lithe Lunarian's words. "I don't care what you think. I won. I took pity on you, after all." Bat pursed his lips, regarding Jianyu with a contrived air of confidence. Oh, he had definitely won. There was no disputing that! It had been a victory for the Nobles all the way and Bataar wasn't about to agree otherwise. He was also not willing to listen to much more of Jianyu's claims; he was obviously the more intelligent one here(another bad assumption on his part)!
"Actually, nothing makes me look bad!" Bat declared proudly, flexing his pronounced biceps in order to show off his physique and flashing a grin to display just how good-looking he really was. Oh, yes. The great Bataar could never be considered bad-looking, lies or not!

"I'll have you know," Jianyu said irritably, folding his arms across his chest. "That my bow is currently being repaired, seeing as your moronic brute force has caused a crack in the wood. Not to mention I felt it necessary to clean it off from your filthy hands touching it."
Glowering at the other Lunarian, Jianyu stepped over to Bataar, walking in slow movements around him, as if he were examining him. There was just something about this Noble that drove him insane, made the anger inside of him bubble and rise. His arrogance and tendency to cause unnecessary altercations in public places were both irritating and maddening, and Jianyu's expression turned darker.
"You seem to be under the impression that running away from a fight is considered 'winning.'" Jianyu said, and a hand reached up, twisting the braid in his hair almost absentmindedly. "When, in fact, it is most definitely a sign of loss. The moment you ran away from our fight was the moment that it became victorious to me. I won.
"Despite," he added, just to be vindictive. "That your obvious lack of cleanliness makes me physically ill each time I look at you."

It would have been an understatement to say that Bataar was pleased with the fact that he'd managed to break Jianyu's bow. A grin spread across his face and he regarded his opponent smugly, his green eyes glowing. "I will have you know that there is absolutely no merit in bathing or washing your hands! But besides that, if you were to fight me right now I'd kick your a**!" The cocksure Mongol bragged, feigning a hit in the archer's direction.
He shifted in slight discomfort as Jianyu began to circle him and started slowly rotating himself(looking like an utter idiot) in order to keep his eyes on the other youth. It looked as if this runt really was considering a tussel.
"Pff. You so did not win. You can't even take a punch and stay on your feet!" Bat was secretly hoping that this particular thread of argumentation would come to an end. After all, he didn't have many intelligent points to make and it was easy to gauge judging by his blank expression. Stupid Legionarre. He obviously wasn't worth Bataar's time! Of course, this thought was helped by the fact that Bat was getting tired of trying to actually think functionally. He just wanted to throw some punches.
"Yeah? Well I get sick when I see what a runt you are!" It was a pretty terrible comeback, but Bat's venemous tone indicated his anger. Something was going to go down here.

It was obvious from the way the other Lunarian tried to rotate his head to follow Jianyu's observant walk that he was, in fact, a complete and utter moron. The damned Noble was so incredibly stubborn that it was beginning to anger Jianyu. He was not one to show his emotions. They were weaknesses; a sign of naivete and loss of one's focus, and to Jianyu, they were a symbol of everything that was wrong with the Nobles. They were the ones who had let their feelings take over their actions instead of letting their minds act out in a rational manner.
Though it was safe to say that Jianyu, in fact, was not in a very rational mood whatsoever. Irritated that this mongrol Bataar had managed to break his bow, his one weapon, Jianyu gritted his teeth, stopping his pacings around the other Lunarian.
"I would not be so over confident in yourself, Noble!" Jianyu hissed, his face wearing an expression of great dislike, and without even thinking about what he was doing, Jianyu's leg shot out and he slammed a kick straight between Bataar's legs.
Then he realized what he had done and his mouth fell open in surprise.
"I...er...." he said awkwardly, holding his hands up as if to defend himself.
