I'm not Jewish anymore but I still help-out whenever my sister puts on big events for her Synagogue. Anyway, Purim is coming up soon and I was just curious what costumes everyone might be wearing?
I, myself, am cross dressing as a male Princess Tutu.

I'm dressing up as Dr. McCoy again. And also Howard Hughes. And a hippie.
And I'm going to this shindig at Synagogue. There's gonna be a Megillah reading and Hamantaschen... I love Hamantaschen so much! I should pick some up from the Deli...
Oh, and did I mention that Purim is my favorite holiday of all time? IT IS THE BEST!!!!!

DaikonNairu -Ren- Lumanny the Space Jew Oh, and did I mention that Purim is my favorite holiday of all time? IT IS THE BEST!!!!! Purim and Halloween hold equal esteem in my eyes. I love to dress-up and cosplay. Halloween is great, but many Jews don't celebrate it. I celebrate both but prefer Purim. Though in many ways they are quite similar.

There's a whole religious holiday for dressing up?
Judaism just keeps getting more awesome.

AniMajor There's a whole religious holiday for dressing up? Judaism just keeps getting more awesome. Hi Major. And yeah, we're awesome. (Sorry, the "we" thing is habbit, I'm not Jewish by belief, just by birth). But its not just about dressing-up, that's just its fun gimmick. We tell the story of Esther.

I saw a little orthodox girl dressed as a Christian nun. I thought it was pretty funny in a way.

I just came back in here to edit and write that it just shows how closed-minded I am for finding this peculiar and seeing people who are ultra orthodox as too closed minded to do that. Well, you learn something new every day right.

*shrug* Orthodox anything (whether it be Jew, Christian, Muslim what have you), aren't so much "closed-minded" as just "conservative".
