Name: Isandra
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Craft: Harper
Rank: Apprentice equivalent
History: Born to a harper and a tailor, Isandra is her parent's only child. She was raised at a young age by her mother, until she was old enough to start taking up her father's craft. Her father was perhaps not the greatest of child-rearers, a little lax in his enforcement of rules, but there was always some other adult to put her back into her place when she stepped out of line if her mother wasn't around. It didn’t take long for her to learn to steer clear of trouble all together, sticking with her father instead of playing with the other youngsters. There were ballads to be learned, after all, and there was no time for playing. She has been Standing whenever there has been a clutch, to no avail. She has not been particularly dismayed, up until this point. Isandra has been taught being a harper is a very important profession, and she holds the notion very dear.
Appearance: Isandra is, most noticeably, a very feminine young woman. She is of the hourglass shape and tries to dress (when at all appropriate) to compliment her figure. In any case, she wants to look nice, not like whatever the wher dragged in. Isandra keeps her wavy black hair tied up and out of her face, though she does leave a strand out so she may play with it. Her eyes are a greenish-brown and her skin is slightly darker than fair, though not much. If it’s not her crisp appearance that gets you, it will be her small stature. Smaller than most girls her age, Isandra will stay petite for the rest of her life. She rather likes it that way, it’s an excellent tool, employing her vertical challenge to her advantage.
Personality: Isandra is a very, very proud young woman. Raised with the notion that she is included in perhaps the most important profession there ever was (after all, if not for Harpers, who would remember the tragic events of the plague?), she tends to look down her nose at anyone else. She’d never admit to such a thing, she’d prefer to be much more subtle than that. She’ll make biting remarks, and if provoked, start a verbal war with anyone who tempts her pride. It tends to get in the way of her more rational thought and always puts herself at the forefront of her thoughts. It is Isandra above everyone else, and that is just the way it has to be.
While selfish, she is not heartless and does not turn her back on a friend in need, especially a fellow Harper or someone younger than herself. She does have a soft spot for children, scolding them much less harshly than she would a peer. She is very critical of her peers (and perhaps more so of herself), however, she is the most critical of authority figures. Preferring to be a leader before a follower, she becomes very condescending and the first to correct others when she is forced into the latter position. When allowed to lead, her criticism will soften and she will often do for the best of the group (unless she personally is threatened, in which case, it will become a true battle of wills).
With pride and self-worth comes a very strong sense of duty and an excellent work ethic. Isandra will never turn away a task, no matter if it is the least glamorous the entire Weyr has to offer, and she will never shirk her chores until the task is done. She is helpful and rarely turns down anyone asking for aid (though she will be sure to fire off her mouth if she feels a scolding is appropriate). Respect appears to be lost on her, and despite her father’s better efforts and the initial fear the girl was going to become a wallflower, it is not uncommon for Isandra to mouth off to the wrong person and find herself with a punishment.
She is incredibly fond of her father (and while also fond of her mother, their tie isn't nearly as tight) and would do anything to please the man. When she gets herself in trouble, the only regret she feels is for disappointing her father. They are very close and Isandra is comfortable sharing anything with him. If anything were to happen to him, she’d be absolutely heartbroken.
Other: Nope. :]
