Everyone always thought that the end of the world would be brought about by war, nuclear explosions, natural catastrophes, acts of god, alien invaders. When in truth it was none of these things. What brought our planet to it's knees was not aliens, or god, it was us. And our incessant need to feed on meat and fast food. It all started in a science lab in Southern Canada owned by a company called Mighty Meat. American big business was trying to discover a way to bypass the breeding stages of cattle and produce meat on a larger and faster scale. And they succeeded, the meat seemed to be safe to eat and so it was mass produced and sent all around the world.
The company made hundreds of millions of dollars selling their "Mighty Meat" to the world, and to it's own people. Times were good for the world, but only for a short time. Mighty Meat decided it wasn't enough for them to be the biggest provider of this new meat, they wanted to have people buying it constantly. And so they put the lab in Canada back together, only this time it was to make their product more addictive. And again, they succeeded. Only this time, the meat had delayed side effects.
On December 30th, 2014, "Mighty Meat" hit stores with it's new improved flavors. Millions of people bought the stuff, and in just a short 5 years, the population of the planet went from 6,790,062,216, to somewhere less than 1 million, and society began to collapse, until nothing was left. All because some American Big business company known as Mighty Meat wanted to sell their product more efficiently. Instead of bringing about an era of wealth and prosperity, they brought about a never ending era of death, and decay that we call Zombies.
It is now January 1, 2024, a full 10 years have gone by since that tragic day. When the Zombies first attacked, the first to go were the incompetent fools that had set this all in motion. The Mighty Meat corporates had been eating their own products, the fools. After the infection started to spread the weak began to die off quickly, obesity became the ultimate sign of death on the planet. After that it was the people stupid enough to run off by themselves, those who feared the slow moving corpses and ran, often ran into bigger groups of the monsters.
Chaos has ravaged the world, and fear riddles the minds of all who survive. No one had any kind of direction or plans, no one to guide them. Right up until four years into the mayhem, a man named Richard Caldwell stepped forward and took charge of a group of men. He lead them across the US gathering people and supplies, building what some called an army, he called it salvation. Around 2020 he decided to set up a home base, somewhere people could go to try and live a normal life, as normal as they could anyway.
It was set up at an abandoned military base in Texas. Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, a big enough place with few enough zombies. He took his "army" and swept through the city, they cleared the whole thing in just two short weeks. After which they began to move people into the base and some into the civilian housing under protection of a 24 hour guard service that Richard provided.
Times were getting better, we had a community again, and everyone did their part. But that was before Richard took a squad of men out to Florida after hearing of some survivors. Only one man came back, and he came back carrying Richards gun. That man was me, Kolt Solstra, Colonel Solstra to those who know me. I was Richards second in command, and now, I lead our forces against the Zombie menace.
As of today, I am General Solstra, leader of the armed forces known as Zero, the Zombie Emergency Response Operations. We police the world and bring back whatever survivors we may find to our base in Texas. We have food, weapons, planes, trucks, anything needed to combat these Zombie vermin. We are the resistance, we are the soldiers, we are the survivors, and we are the last hope that this world has.
