Kirai...had no idea where she was.
Honestly, she didn't care, either. Her travels had taken her away from her previous territory of sorts, and settled her in an area that she was happily unfamiliar with.
Taking a seat on the beach of the nearest water source, her ears drew back and she sighed heavily, her head lowering to stare down into the water, staring into her own eyes while she tried to gather her barings and will herself to move on.
She was so exhausted. She'd been traveling for so long she'd become weary of just about everyone and everything that came near her...but she had found herself growing soft in the fact that she hadn't had fresh blood on her muzzle for quite some time..Kirai had become a scavenger, seeing as she was quite tiny and couldn't take down anything bigger than a fawn or rabbit. Both of which were hard to find around this area she'd found. So her body was slimmer than before, the muscle on her legs beginning to diminish.
Maybe she was in trouble--but she couldn't find the will to rely on anyone else like a pack right now. Damn her for being stubborn.

The large star pelted male stretched as he worked his way out of the small hollow he had spent the night it. It had been slightly cramped for a wolf of his size, but it was shelter nonetheless. He had been successful in his hunt the day before as well in getting himself a good sized doe. There was still plenty left of the carcass to feed him for at least another day or two.
Stretching out his aching body he then shook himself and yawned, heading towards the small water front in which he could soothe his parched throat. As the water came into sight he saw a small, slight wolf, the scent was female and she looked even from this distance fairly unhealthy.
"Hello there." he called out, raising his tail slightly and tilting his head. His good eye focused on the female. He felt bad, it had been a hard winter and this area lacked a lot of smaller game, something a wolf of her size was likely to go after most of the time. He wondered if she was alone, or part of the Akiiki Chibale pack.
He had spent a short time with the pack to rest and share company, but he had left, the pack was not his home and so he had made his thanks and went on his way.

Looking up to the male, startled, she hadn't even realized that he had approached. She must be much more tired than she first expected.
Bristling automatically, she slowly moved to stand, her eyes tired and unfocused as she stared at him, unsure of how to react. Had she stepped into his territory? Was he going to attack her? By the looks of it he was pretty healthy, a full belly with the scent of fresh blood on his maw and paws.
Her mouth salivated automatically at the thought of fresh meat, but she kept her mouth shut, not wanting to show any sign of weakness.
"...Hello," she retorted quickly, taking a few steps back, showing she wasn't there to fight or anything of the like. "Is this your territory?"

Standing his ground he wasn't in the least bit threatened by the slight female. But he did feel bad as he looked at her slim figure more and more. Her pelt was even suffering from the malnutrition, he thought back to the doe near his make shift den of sorts. He would be more than happy to share it with her, as long as she wasn't going to turn on him. But he could see the hunger in her eyes.
He smiled at her, showing he was of no threat as he wagged his flaming tail. "No, I am merely passing through here. Likely the same story as yourself." he said bowing his head to the female.
"My name is Akinobu. May I be so bold as to ask you to join me? I have a doe that there is still more than enough of that I would happily share with you." he said with a slight whine, showing his concern for the femme.

The male was weird. In a few different ways. The bite in his ear caught her attention first, but as his tail began to wag she moved his eyes, looking to his..missing leg.
How interesting. Her ears perked, and she looked up to his eyes a moment later. "...if you're okay with it," she was starving. Her stomach scolded her with a loud growl, making her wince in embarrassment.
Slowly, she made her way over towards him, pausing just slightly when she realized that the male had already introduced himself. "I'm Kirai," she murmured, eager to get to the food but not wanting to seem weak in the way that she needed this food. She was pretty stubborn when it came to this sort of thing.

Aki say her eyes catch his lack in an appendage, but she took it with much more grace than most wolves. He had seen a veritable array of reactions to the sight of him. From running away, fear, hatred, awe, worry..there was little he had not seen. But it amused him as always, it almost made him glad that she didn't make any fuss over his appearance.
He bowed his head in acceptance. "Of course, I believe it would be rude of me not to offer my prosperity with others who can benefit from it as well." he said with a smile spread over his maw. He was entranced by her markings, how if he didn't look closely enough he would miss so many of them.
He lowered himself a little, showing he meant well for sure, and moved to the side for her to pass by him. She was so slight compared to him, a toothy grin widening as she introduced herself. "Kirai, the pleasure is all mine, I assure you." he nodded his head, flickering his torn ear slightly. He turned and shook his head in the way of the scent of the doe, he needed water before he would turn back, his throat dry. "Feel free to help yourself." he said turning to the water to lap at it.

Unsure, she stared at him, really not bothering to judge him by the missing appendages, knowing better than to think that he was weaker just because he was missing a leg, Kirai stared at him with her head low, tail flicking nervously.
She had always known to not trust strange wolves, to not judge them by their looks...any wolf could bite, any wolf could fight back. And he was decently sized compared to her. Her ears perked up, and she slowly made her way in the direction of where the food was, looking up at him when he moved to get a drink of water. Breaking into a trot, she quickly made her way to where the food was, and dropped down to her stomach next to the food, pressing the pads of her paws to the meat as she began to rip into the food.
Kirai knew better than to eat too quickly or she'd get herself sick. Ripping the meat off of the rear area of the doe, she gulped the meat down, ears perking and her eyes looking around as she continued to eat. The blood wet her throat and the meat filled her stomach quickly--she wasn't able to eat as much as she thought she would, but her belly was already full...and she just wanted to keep eating, thinking he would chase her off after she'd eaten her fill.
Pushing herself to sit up, she kept her head low as she peeked down at her belly. Definitely full. But it felt nice. Licking her maw to clean off the blood, she then moved to licking her paws with a satisfied hum.

Once the starry male had satiated his thirst he had stopped to take a rolling the soft grass. Thinking it was good for him to get a proper stretching after being cramped into the tiny hole under the tree. It had made his legs and back hurt. He also figured the time he was wasting would allow Kirai time to find the doe and eat. The last thing he needed was to surprise her in the middle of a blood lust and for her to turn on him.
He didn't know her and he wanted to avoid any sort of hospitable confrontation that might possibly occur. He could fight if need be, otherwise he wouldn't have been alive, but he preferred to refrain from such things unless it was needed.
Having finished with his stretching he sat himself up and got back onto his paws, heading back, treading carefully, but not so careful as to not make enough noise for Kirai to hear him coming. With his head cocked to the side, his one good eyes keeping watch ahead of him he spotted the female cleaning herself of the blood from the doe.
Good... he thought to himself, pleased that he had kept away long enough for her to have satisfied herself. Looking at the doe though he could tell she had not eaten much. But Kirai as he had noticed before was a fairly slight wolf, she wasn't likely to be able to put away nearly as much food as a large wolf like himself.
"So was the doe good and sweet enough for you?" he asked with a smile spread over his maw and lowering his head slightly and his tail wavering behind him, almost playfully.

Kirai finished cleaning herself slowly, looking up when she heard his heavy footsteps. Perking her ears, she debated bolting--but she was still so exhausted, she doubted she would get far...and she wasn't sure if this male would take after her or not.
"Yes--thank you," she didn't often thank people, so she hoped he took it nicely. He didn't know her well, so of course he wouldn't know that she wasn't the friendliest wolf, but it might be obvious at this point that she wasn't very good at being social with other wolves.
Slowly seating herself, she tried to relax, not wanting to seem overly tense and put him into an aggressive mood or something. His wagging tail comforted her just slightly, but she kept her head low and her tail merely flicking every now and again, her attempt to show she wasn't being aggressive.

Moving forward he dipped his own head down to the doe and sat down to gnaw at one of the legs. The marrow of the bones had always been one of his favorite things to get to, it was just breaking the bones perfectly that would allow him the best access to the intensely flavored jelly-like substance within. His silvery eyes looked up to her and he pulled back slightly from the leg.
"Have you ever had the marrow of the bones before?" he asked tilting his head. She seemed full enough with her not protruding belly, but it was an honest question. He was happy to have shared the doe with the female, she had certainly needed the meat more than him. Even he had been somewhat surprised when he had taken down the doe on his own, but she had a crippled back leg, somewhat reminding him of himself. She had been slowed down greatly by the leg and he had been able to catch her, despite his complete lack of a limb.
"It's quite sweet and very tender. I believe it's personal preference for me." she sighed with a smile up at the female. He could sense as well as smell the tension from her. He wanted to put her at ease, he was harmless as long as she was to him. He had always been gentle, it was just his nature.

Bone marrow..? She'd eaten it in times of no food, which was about now she supposed, but she'd never think of it as a favorite of any wolf. It had an odd texture, and she didn't find it all too terribly appealing. But it was definitely good for them when it came to certain things if they hadn't had enough food.
"That's strange," she said rather blatantly, slowly moving to sit a bit closer to him. She was exhausted and actually getting somewhat cold, since she was quite small and rather skinny from not eating for a while. However, the full belly made her every more tired, and she didn't want to wander any further...but then again, she didn't want to sleep around this male in fear of being backstabbed.
But really, this wolf didn't seem all that aggressive. "Akinobu.." She began, almost curiously, "What makes you so willing to share your meal with a passer-by such as me?" Now she really wanted to know. What wolf would waste food like that with a strange wolf without some sort of aim otherwise?

He chuckled as he called him strange. Strange over the choice of bone marrow and not over his looks, it was refreshing as though he were as normal as her. It was a feeling he liked, to not be looked at as different for his own odd and slightly mangled appearance. "Yes, I guess to some it might be an odd likely, an acquired taste of sorts you could say." he nodded his himself with a smile spreading over his maw as he crunched through another few inches of bone to dig deeper for the sweet marrow within.
He watched her as she carefully laid down slightly closer to him. He knew there was still a bit of a chill in the air, and being as slight as she was she was likely to feel it more than he was. In truth, the badger set hidden behind her withing the roots of the large oak she would likely fit perfectly into and find it quite warm.
He stopped his chewing when she said his name. A small electric shock shooting up his spine. He didn't hear others say his name often, but it made him snap to attention. And he listened to her, ears pressed forward taking in her words. A smile again crept over his maw and his licked it clean leaving the bone alone finally from his ravenous attempt to clean the bone of the marrow.
"Well, I feel the need to share with other when one has the access. Kindness at time is far and few between and I believe that when we give kindness we receive kindness in return, one way or another. Helping another gives me a sense of...calm." he said bowing his head to the deer and back at Kirai.
"This doe would take me days to eat, days in which I could hunt many more times and catch other, though likely much smaller game. But the meat also runs risk of becoming infested, and truthfully, I do not know about you, but I feel little interest in eating meat that crawls with maggots." he grimaced at the thought.
"I just like to help other, simple as that." he said plainly and nodding his head and thumping his heavy tail on the ground. He was a simple wolf at heart, though his mind worked in intricate ways.
