The large deep amber female trotted along scenting the earth as she went, tail held high, having formally left her old territory she had briefly joined to join her newly acquired equal and friend Gaara in the search to head north and form a pack of their own. One they they both felt more comfortable in. Kearith herself had been growing weary of the pack, bored with being such a low ranking wolf even though she had been one of the first to join Haku.
Traveling alongside the large male had brought Kearith back to life, a spark that had been dwindling in her had been sent back into a roaring fire in her chest, excitement feeding it more and more as they moved further and further north. She could already feel the difference in the climate as they had gone, the snow still present here, not by much, but certainly more than where they had come from.
"Gaara, how far north do you believe we'll head?" she called back to the male, her energy still running on high even though it had been a few days since they had left Haku's pack behind. She had a feeling their leaving had not been taken well, but that was behind her and she was much more happy out here, traveling again and this time with someone she got along with a fair bit more.

Gaara had previously spoken to Haku about leaving. The alpha knew that Gaara was too much to hold down to a low ranking and that he needed to travel, to make his own pack--and Kearith was similar to him in this sense.
They were both feral and wild in their own ways, and as they traveled they both got to know one another more and more. He was already very attached to the female, finding it easier to sleep beside her and share his meals..he wanted to talk to her more about his past, and make sure she wanted to be dedicated to a monster like himself.
"However far our feet take us, I suppose," he called back, trotting along behind her as he wavered this way and that, taking in the scents and sights of the fresh land. He smelled no other wolves here, it was nice. And the weather was still a little cold, it felt good against his thick coat, and the snow felt amazing against his paws as they walked.
Breaking into a sprint up to her, the large male couldn't help but bump his torso against her own, smirking wickedly as he reared up slightly to press his front legs to her back, aiming to knock her over into a large snowdrift as they passed it. They weren't going anywhere in particular, so why not play around a bit? That and he planned to talk to her about his past...it was kind of important to know your travel buddy, was it not?

Kearith circled in the snow, enjoying the sight of her large paw print in the pure white snow, to cold and biting at her thick paw pads, but it was a good feeling, one she had dearly missed, the slight bitterness of the cold biting at her pelt that only brought her even more alive, this was what she was used to. What she had longed to come back to.
Looked back at Gaara she nodded with a grin. "Sounds like an idea to me. We'll find some place suitable soon, I can feel it." she said looking ahead again, out into the expanse of land, waiting for them to cross it, waiting for them to find their new home, a land to call theirs, their own pack lands. So far where they have traveled over they could smell no others or anything they did cross was faint and passing. Nothing lingering to suggest any sort of setting for more than a short period of time.
Kearith yipped as Gaara's large body pressed up against her and when his paws pushed into her sides she gave in and rolled over onto her back with laughter. "What was that for?" she asked, but a smile spread wide over her maw, her legs akimbo in the air. She had wondered about his past, curios as to why his mate had left him, taking their children with her. What had happened to his old pack that had made it apparently fall apart and disappear. The questions bubbled in her mind, but she had not found it in herself to ask, not wanting to bring up painful memories in her travel mate.

"'cause I'm bigger than you," he teased, chuckling as he walked past her and snuffled at the snow for a moment. He then moved to sit down near where he had shoved her over, relaxing and giving his paws a bit to rest. Gaara wasn't in the shape he used to be in, so his age might be showing through a bit.
"You know, you're very trusting, traveling with me when you know nothing about me," he murmured, his tone changing suddenly--lower, more serious. It was a needed talk, even if he was afraid that she'd leave after he told her what he was really like. Not this tame, well-mannered drone that he tried to be for Haku so as not to ruin the older wolf's dreams of having a pack of his own.
"I could be a murderer, a monster for all you know," he smirked at her playfully, still trying to keep the atmosphere light. But one couldn't really accomplish that with the words he'd just spoken.

Snorting her laughter Kear rolled back over onto her side s Gaara settled himself by her. She had grown so used to the male, feeling a sense of closeness with him she had not felt with another wolf in a very long time. A feeling she had very much missed from her days of being in a pack.
She nodded. "I can be, I like to think I have a good judge of character when it comes to others. Though I have to admit I have been wrong before," she said tilting her head at the male. "But I don't believe at all that I'm wrong for trusting you. I actually think following you has been the best decision I've made in a long time." she said, quite sure of herself. She wondered what she sudden change was about. He seemed somber in a way, serious to a very extreme point. She wondered if there was something wrong that his demeanor has taken such a turn.
She shook her head. "I don't see that in you at all. I mean, sure maybe you could have done something you're not proud of in your past, but I believe that we all do things we're eventually no proud of." she said looking at him seriously, her curiosity piqued.

Giving a soft laugh at this, he shrugged and relaxed his shoulders, not really wanting to be so tense. It made his head hurt, and that just wouldn't be pleasant for the rest of their trip.
Moving to lie down now, he stretched his legs out behind him, now resting fully on his stomach. Giving a soft hum, he looked down to the snow, brushing his large paw over the powder to get down to the small green nubs which would soon be grass once the sun showed through the clouds. It'd still be cold, he figured. But the sunlight might help them travel longer without being worried about night predators and other dangers.
"I've done a lot of things I'm not proud of," he said honestly, looking back up to her with his jade orbs, "I am a murderer--I killed a pup that stalked my first pack, when my mate was pregnant. He followed us despite warnings from Haku, and we took him out as a spy," he took a slow breath, "Haku's mate left him because of it. I believe it was my duty to protect my pack and my family."
Again he paused, letting her take in the information, "I've also killed two-leggers...as well as befriended them." Continuing to stare her in the eye, his expression went apathetic, that which he was used to from the past. "I just...you needed to know. In case you dont approve of who--of what I am."

The female moved herself closer to the larger male, looking at him seriously, concern plain on her face. Even if Gaara was trying to hide the tension she could feel in inside of her chest. She still didn't know Gaara all that well, but she felt good enough about him to trust herself to him to be considered his equal, to leave the pack she had aligned herself with. Kear had been one for rash decisions at time when she had been younger, but over time she often thought things out much more and her decision to up and leave with Gaara had even surprised her.
She listened to his story and shifted her eyes a bit, thinking over the words that had come from him. It was hard to imagine that Gaara had done such a thing, but he felt remorse for it, and that was what mattered. She nudged her muzzled under his with a slight whine and licked at his face.
"You did what you had to do Gaara, if the pup was a spy and had been given warning you only did what you thought was best for your pack. Who knows what could have happened had you not done what you did." she whined up at him. She understood, she truly did, it wasn't easy, but she was in no place to hold the past against him.
"Two-leggers, they kill us all the time, for our pelts, calling us evil beings. They can be monsters, some of them, truly are. Gaara, do not dwell on these things. They are in the past and long gone, put them behind you and look to what is before you." she set herself up a little rubbing her face against his, almost like a cat would. "I approve of you Gaara, it will take a lot more than your past to change my mind about you."

Ah, he hadn't meant for this to turn into a pity party...he felt guilty for that more than the death of any of those he had killed, because he had once been a true monster. A past he regretted, but also missed at the same time. Kept him from getting hurt.
The nudge under his jaw made him sigh a bit, the whimpering making his ears fold back. She could be so tender--even with her outward personality and just her overall visage. It was insane how getting to know someone could open ones eyes.
Giving a light laugh despite himself, he gently, and hesitantly, nuzzled down into her cheek, lightly licking at the side of her neck in a thankful manner, glad that she accepted him and seemingly cared for him.
"Now that you know my past," he chuckled, licking her cheek affectionately, "You have any skeletons you wanna' share?"

Kearith had her soft sides, but it wasn't too often she truly showed them to others. Everyone had a past, some worse than others. She had been lucky enough to have had a very boring past with nothing significant smearing her conscience.
She didn't understand why she was being so soft with Gaara, but she had felt a sense of connection with him since they had properly met. She wondered if he had felt the connection as well, but Kear was completely unsure as to what the connection meant. Though it was strange for a wolf of her age and status to still not have a Mate, she had considered it, but had always been let down, Haku had been an example of such.
She smiled and leaned slightly against Gaara. "Sadly, I don't have bones hidden in my past. Though I almost wish I did." she chuckled softly. She thought of herself as a particularly boring wolf. "Besides leaving my family behind in a crumbling pack to leave off for my own selfish reasons I have nothing." she shook her and licked her nose. She did wonder what had become of her family, but maybe as they ventured north they would run across someone from her old pack, whether that could be a good thing or bad she wasn't too sure.

"I see," he murmured, moving to sit up so he could take a seat next to her, enjoying her warmth for the time being. HIs feet were beginning to hurt less, so maybe they could get moving again soon.
"Well, that's probably a good thing," he shook his head when she said she wished she did, "I dont like having the past I do. It haunts me, at least with yours you have little to haunt you when you fall deep into thought," he murmured, leaning his shoulder softly against her own.
He did, of course, feel the connection. It was an odd feeling, and he barely remembered it from the first time he'd had a mate. But he was beginning to recognize it as that. And it scared him in a way. Lightly grooming her ear, he sighed and turned his head away, finding it increasingly difficult to not act as if she was his partner, his mate--most alphas would be together, they were just a special situation. He, again, didn't want to scare her off by the idea of him being overly touchy or over-bearing.

"We can't always help the things that happen in our past. A lot of what goes on we cannot control, even though we do sometimes wish we lived completely controlled lives." she said comfortable with Gaara so close to her. Why did she feel this way? It was so strange a feeling that closeness made her calmer, relaxed...safe.
Something about the large male just captured her, even now knowing he had a tortured past, she easily over looked it as though it were nothing. Though it would always mean something to Gaara. This sharing was something she had a feeling hadn't been easy for him at all, but felt it had been needed. She could agree, but still wished she had something to offer him in return other than her blatant acceptance of him.
Her white tipped ear flickered slightly as he groomed it. She hadn't been groomed by another in a long time. Not since she had been back with her family. Group grooming was something quite normal, but usually only with wolves that were fairly close. She couldn't exactly see what it is that made him trust her, but she always wondered what he saw in her that made him feel she could head a pack with him as his equal. It would be slightly awkward once they got a pack going if they chose mates. "Gaara..." she sighed looking up at him. "how do you see me? Your feelings, thought? There's no point in lying to me, or being ashamed of anything. We're being open here." she said nodding her head, trying to convince herself that she was more interesting.

Looking up to her when the female spoke to him, he perked his ears and pulled his head back from her head, catching himself grooming her.
Hm. He didn't know exactly...how he felt. And..his thoughts on it were a bit odd as well. But how blunt did he want to be? He had never been big on being blunt about things like this, especially when he'd prefer to not be hurt.
"I..." He sighed, shaking his head off slightly as he straightened up his composure. "...dont know," he frowned, looking up to her curiously, "What...do you feel about me?" He questioned, cocking his head and shifting his paws against the snowy ground.
Go figure she'd be able to send him into an adolescent's flustered fit.

Kearith this time groomed Gaara instinctively, chewing gently at his ears. So even he didn't seem to really know, or he wasn't telling her. Either way, she would be able to tell eventually by his actions. She had spent a fair bit of time in her boredom analyzing other body movements and reactions, facial expressions. He was flustered, not wanting to open up just yet, debating, gauging, waiting.
Pulling back when having her own questions thrown back at her she licked her nose lightly, debating for a moment. Was it smart to just tell him? it seemed only right, she had expected him to tell her the truth, open up to her, she couldn't turn around and not do what she expected of him. Being a hypocrite was the last thing Kear wanted to come across as. Taking a deep breath and letting out a long sigh and crossed her paws lightly, and shifted her eyes away with some embarrassment.
"Well, in all truth..." she trailed off taking another breath, still searching for the best words as not to sound too foolish to the large male. "I feel that there is an interesting connection between the two of us. Though we haven't had very much time to truly get to know one another, I feel I can trust you, enough to have been swept away from Haku's pack in hopes of something so much better. I feel a sense of security around you, and I feel stronger, with more purpose to my life." she said gaining strength in her voice as she went, her tail beginning to thumb the ground slightly, proud that she was able to get what she wanted off of her chest. "I feel a fondness for you, something I haven't really felt before and I guess you could say it confuses me." she said tilting her head at him, reaching out slightly to lick him, in hopes that he would not think her insane.

Gaara was...confused. The grooming he received for grooming her was nice, making him lower his head and tilt it slightly so she could reach easier. She was big, but he was still quite a large wolf.
Once she began to talk, he straightened back up and looked down to her--confused. Well, not quite confused...he understood, but his mind didn't want to really accept it, because of who he was--and what he was. Even after just explaining to her what he was like, that he was a monster, that he...well, she got the point.
"Fondness..?" Gaara questioned, ears folding back slightly when she reached out to give that affection. And..he allowed it. Didn't lash out, with physical or verbal actions, nor did he really know what to say or do. Because..he also felt the same way, it was scary in a way how quickly he'd grown attached to her.
Releasing a quiet breath, he pushed the uneasy feelings from his mind, and he moved closer to nuzzle into her neck, lightly licking at her jaw and up to her ear. "I feel the same way," he just had no way to...show it, "Ever since I first saw you, I felt that way," gah, he felt so cheesy...but it needed to be said, for both their sakes.

Kear smiled to herself as he accepted her affection, admitting that he felt as she did. So she wasn't insane when she felt the connection between the two of them, the draw, the allure that had brought them to strike it out for a pack all their own. From nothing more than an equal partnership they were more likely to start a pack that was truly theirs. An excitement filled her chest, like a bubble rising to the surface of a bubbling river.
"I'm so glad you feel the same way!" she whined nuzzling him back lovingly. "I was afraid you were going to think me insane, or something of the like" she sneezed in laughter despite herself. Kear never worried often what others thought of her, but for once she had actually been fearful of another's opinion, because Gaara's opinion meant the world to her.
"I have to say, it was the same for me. I've never felt this way before. It's...unnerving in a way." she sneezed again licking at Gaara's face. She had no idea if this truly put them in the position for a much deeper relationship that could lead to mates, a part of her hoped for it, believing that was the purposed of the strong connection.
