It was a bright, sunny day down in Pallet Town. Today, new trainers would come to recieve their first pokemon partner and set out on their pokemon journies. Among the young hopefuls was Robert, a young trainer from Pewter city and son of the former gym leader turned world famous pokemon breeder, Brock.
The trip to Pallet town wasn't as bad as Robert thought it would be. Of course the fact that his father lent him Steelix to make his way safely to Pallet town helped in speeding up his travel.
Robert approached the lab of Professor Gary Oak, who had taken over the family business as it was after his grandfather passed away from old age. Knocking on the door, Robert waited pariently for the professor or his assistant to open up. Gary opened the door and smiled to the young boy. "Welcome young man. You must be here for your first pokemon. But first, did you bring me your voucher?" Gary asked. All trainers recieved a voucher for a starter pokemon on their tenth birthday, which had to be signed by their parents.
Robert handed over the voucher and Gary looked it over. "Ah, so your Brock's kid. Good to see he finally settled down instead of constantly chasing skirts around with cheesy pick-up lines." Gary replied.
Robert chuckled light and shook his head. "Yeah, of course now he has both mother and Croagunk to keep him from going bonkers." Robert jested.
Gary led Robert to where all of the starters were being held. There were starters from every region, plus a Pichu bred from Champion Ash's Pikachu, and an Eevee bred from gary's own Umbreon. "Here you go. These are all of the pokemon you can choose from. Choose your new friend wisely." Gary spoke.
Robert looked through them all. he released each one, and each one had their own unique personalities. However, most of them weren't very interested in Robert. however, when he came to Eevee, the little evolution pokemon bounced happilly and nuzzled up to Robert. Robert chuckled lightly and knelt down before pickign the eevee up. "Well, I think it's decided. You and I are a team." Robert said as he looked into the Eevee's eyes before snuggling it in his arms.
"Ah, good choice. An Eevee can become just about any type, and they are wonderful and loyal companions." Gary said before handing Robert a pokedex and a belt with five pokeballs. "Take these, young man and I wish you well on your journey. And tell your dad I said hi when you see him." Gary said.
Robert gave a nod and wrapped the belt around his waist before then pocketing the pokedex. He then took out Steelix's pokeball. "Professor Oak, can I use your transfer machine? I need to send my dad back his Steelix." Robert asked.
Gary gave a solemn nod and smiled. "Sure thing kid. Just dial in the recieving end's number and you can send it back home." Gary said.
After sending his father's Steelix back home, Robert left the pokemon lab with his Eevee on his shoulder. After looking up Eevee's information, Robert looked to the little pokemon. "I'll call you Flower. How do you like it?" he asked. Eevee chirped and nuzzled his cheek.
