Salem had decided to get out of the house and had made his way to a hill near by the lake, it was a beautiful day and he decided to just relax for the day, he was meant to help Mocha tomorrow with something so today he would just watch the clouds go by, it was one of his favorite pasttimes and after the horrid atempt Lenore did with trying to get children from him he deserved this.

Iris did love sitting by the water, even if the light reflecting off the surface hurt her eyes. It was better on those lightly overcast days when the sky was dimmed but the clouds not heavy enough to really turn the weather bad. At least she could always settle under a nice tree and peer over the water with half-lidded eyes, or just close them and rest her head in the grass and enjoy the breezes off the water. Today wasn't so bad though, there were a number of large fluffy clouds littering the skies above that kept the sunlight from reflecting directly in the water too much. It was kind of fun to try and spot shapes in them as well.
She was also hoping for some company today, honestly. A new friend, or maybe an old one if they happened to show up. A nice day in the late winter/early spring beside the lake seemed like a fair place to find someone without wasting the day indoors at the HQ!

Salem got up and stretched, deciding it wastimeto go get something to eat and drink, he had yet to have anything to eat and his throat was a bit dry, Salem looked around from where he was and pondered overgoing by the lake for the drink and maybe berries for lunch? He never could eat meat so berries was really the only tasty thing he could eat around here that he could get on his own, Lenore ususally made ny other meals like salads and the like when he wanted them. Salem started to run, making his way down to the lake and took notice of some of the others around, he never really realised before how popular the lake was, of course he wasn't completely oblivious he just never really took much notice of others though maybe it was better if he was watching where he was going instead and he wouldn't..."AHHH!" fall head first into the lake itself by tripping over his own two feet.

Hearing a shout followed by a loud splash Iris tore her attention from the clouds overhead and spotted orange banded legs flailing in the water. She immediately got up and ran/swam over to help if necessary, otherwise to simply make sure the other was all right. "Oh goodness, hun, are you okay?"

Salem spit the water outof his mouth in pure fountain fasion once he reached the top and looked over at the other who came over "yes, im fine, a bit red faced but hey, I always did like being the center of attention" he joked, not even remotely egotistical as what he just sounded like, if anything he hated those sorts but after having egg wind up on his face, a joke of any sort was better then nothing. "The water is nice though regardless" he said swimming over to the edge and climbing out "hi, im Salem" he said moving away from the other and shaking himself off "who do I have the pleasure of speaking to?" He asked smiling at her.

Iris gave a small sigh of relief and then a bit of a grin, deciding from the grimace in his expression when he made his joke that it was, in fact, a joke. She stepped back to the dry part of the shore rather than to be standing nearly knee deep, shivering a bit as the cool water dripped from her belly. "As long as you're ok, hun, I'd hate for you to have gotten hurt taking that little tumble."
She closed her eyes when he started to shake off, just in case, and crinkled her nose just slightly when a drop hit it. Then she tilted her head to the side and gave him a warm and welcoming smile. "My name's Iris, hun. If you'd like to dry off there's a nice grassy spot by that tree over yonder." She motioned to the one she'd previously been relaxing under.

Iris' face crinkled into a smile again, though a bit of a wry one this time. "It's not a crime to have things on your mind hun. Though sometimes a bit unhealthier than others, aye?" She curled up on the grass next to him, quite literally, and promptly began grooming some of the slightly muddied water from his back in a spot he wouldn't be able to reach on his own. "Everyone has days like that, though. Just not all of them have an audience." She gave him a friendly wink before resuming her work. "Hope I'm not bothering you over-much, Salem hun. Weather's not really warm enough to dry you out properly though, I'd hate for you to catch a chill too. That would be a right nasty cake to take on top of everything."

"Just a bit but then I I guess it should be teaching me a leasson as well...not that I am one to learn from lessons like this" he said, always having been a bit slow on the uptake from some things, this being one "an audience, I might say, is a welcomed thing in this case" he said as he turned his head and watched what she was doing and smiled at her "I have meet a beautiful woman due to my misfortune so it isn't all bad" he said as he shivered a little, due to her touch but also due to the fact that the wind picked up a little and blowing across his wet fur wasn't a nice feeling at all. "And no, you are not bothering me at all, thank you" he said, having not been taken care of like this since he was a child and Parisa had taken him in and raised him as her own son, it was nice being taken care of again "it is nice to feel taken care of again, it has been a while since my mother tended to me like this, its nice" he said, watching her but thinking back to his childhood, they were some of the best days and taking a trip down memory lane is sometimes nice.

Iris laughed then, a musical and bell-like sound. "Well if having this happen nets you beautiful women you probably aren't learning the lesson most would think you should." She carried on with the grooming, a pleased smile planted firmly on her face. "Be careful though, handsome, flattery will get you everywhere with me and I fret what your poor mother would think of me trying to follow you home like a stray puppy."

Salem laughed a little "well, if a beautiful woman happens to 'fall for it' then you wont see me complaning, it may be my fault that I can't learn a lessons but I am not about to take responsability for beautiful woman who just seem to fall at my feet for being clumsy" he teased playfully, joking of course. Salem blushed a little at the 'hansome' comment but ignored it and pondered for a moment before turning to her "hmm flattery will get me everywhere will it? well then I guess I better keep that in mind, it may come in handy later" he said winking at her before just laying back a bit more, enjoying her touch "and as for mother would probably let me 'keep you'. You see, my mother always was a sucker for strays, how else do you think she found me? Well...I was an egg she took in but still, had I been a stray she would of accepted me anyway so I am sure she will accept me 'keeping' the 'stray' that followed me home, she will probably even be glad to 'have another child'" he said smiling a little to himself, it was one of his mothers good points, she was always so warm, welcoming, kind and caring, he couldn't of asked for a better adoptive mother.

Iris moved her grooming to the back of Salem's head and chuckled. "Keeping it in mind for later then? I'm watching you now, handsome. Nothing gets by me without my knowing it." She laughed again at her own silliness. Ah, but this new encounter was turning out to be most enjoyable!
"Your mum sounds a bit like my aunt. She'd take in any poor thing that needed, and double the speed if it was wet and bedraggled as well!" She smiled softly at the thought. "Truth be told the whole Place is like that, after a fashion. Odds and ends just sort of falling into the same place and making a little clan of our own, however affectionately dysfunctional some of it might be." She laughed once more, nudging him playfully. "Perhaps I shall follow you home and we can all adopt one another!" It was only partly a joke. Iris was rather fond of the idea of collecting more friends.

"Oh, nothing gets by you huh? Well then this should be interesting" he said grinning at her, plotting now how to start trying to get things by her, could be fun to try "well then, perhaps your aunt and my mother should meet, they may end up being friends, mother/aunt by day, saving strays by night" he joked a little, it was in fun, it was nice to know others like his mother were around, it saved some of those nightmares and other mean kitsus one hears about more often then not, having done something to some other poor kitsu. "The whole place is like that, I agree, rather sweet really when you think about it, of course, that is if we care to ignore the nightmares and the other evil kitsu who probably would rather be elsehwere then with a family or whatever unless it is their own family and yet even that in its own way is sweet" he said with a soft sigh, such a content kitsu he was right now, it turnedout to be a great day.
Salem looked at her with a serious look on his face once she nudged him "follow me home? My mother told me never to bring strangers home, strays, yes, but strangers no, and I don't think we know each other well enought to have you brought home, how do I know you are not some stark raving lunatic? This is just a calm spell for you?" He said with a playful glint in his eye, obviously not serious.
