||=||Adeline's Journal||=|| . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . .The slim, unassuming black journal is identified solely by the signature on it's bottom right corner. Fluid cursive in glittery gold ink spells 'Adeline', matching the the same metallic hue of the page tips.
There is a light film of dust settled over the cover, suggesting that it had gone without use for a period of time. Perhaps, she just hadn't much to say.
No posting without permission, please.

||=||About Adeline||=|| . . . . . . . . . .
 ...name: Adeline
...item given: Medusa Cameo
...orientation: Tends toward straight, but has a fairly open mind
...likes: Quiet, snakes, sour candy, mythology, piercings, gold, and anything else 'luxurious' along the lines of silk and precious gems.
...dislikes: Excessive loud noise, being startled (Her hair can be disagreeable), not being given the chance to speak, dogs, dirty things, bad smells.
...fears: Being rejected by someone whose opinion she values, moderately claustrophobic. Ridiculously afraid of large dogs, and not fond of any other sized canine either.
...personality: Adeline is a generally friendly individual once you get to know her, but has a very strict guard up around strangers. She is absolutely distrustful until she is given a reason to feel otherwise, and has a problem with assuming people are judging or making fun of her. This will quite often cloud her own judgement on what the reality of situations are.
She is very much a little princess, who has a keen eye for fashion and refuses to go out in public unless she's properly primped and dressed for the occasion. She often over-dresses, and is seen wearing ridiculous pin heels even just walking to classes.
However nice, Adeline has a whip of a temper and will lash out if you manage to crack her patience. She wears her heart on her sleeve in most cases, whether she wants to or not, as her snakes will generally react to something even if she tries to hide how she's feeling.
She is also a hopeless romantic.Appearance...hair ► Bright gold ringlets (ending in snakes) that reach past her hips, and straight cut bangs. The style can change drastically, depending on what her snakes feel like doing that day, but she clips or ties parts back frequently. ...eyes ► Dark amber pupils, with a lighter tone for the corneas. Fairly wide and with long framing lashes....skintone ► Deep purple, with blue speckling in specific places. (Fingers, toes, forehead, etc.)...height ► About 5'4. ...physique ► Has a curvy hourglass figure, which is untoned and delicate. She doesn't look like she'd be able to lift anything moderately heavy....style ► Kind of a fashionista, and wears a variety clothing as long as it's stylish and 'pretty'. Usually in black or deep jewel tones. Also wears a lot of jewelry, including armfuls of thin bangles, gold bands around her neck, beads of precious metals, and the occasional gemstone....other details ► Feathery, 'winged' ears. A single par of longer fangs in her mouth, as well as a forked tongue. Winged (now cobra) snake for a tail. Most important piercing to remember is the one in her nose, although she does have one under her lower lip.Polyvore [X] [X]

||=||Powers & Abilities||=|| . . . . . . . . . .
Powers/Abilities..petrification [Level 1] Ability to shock someone with direct eye contact, causing a start and some uneasiness until Adeline looks away. Inflicted people can move, but might be influenced not to by worry. [Level 2] Ability to shock someone with direct eye contact, causing the inflicted to tense up and have a difficult time moving until Adeline looks away. Causes a mild fear while in affect. [Level 3] Ability to completely paralyze someone where they stand with direct eye contact, in which the victim cannot move and feels irrational fear for a short time even after she looks away. [Level 4] Ability to completely paralyze someone where they stand with direct eye contact; the victim will be unable to move for a few minutes after she looks away, and experience irrational fear throughout that period. [Level 5]...poison production [Level 1] Very mild poison can be produced by the snakes in her hair, and her tail. Would cause irritation and minor swelling at worst. [Level 2] Mild poison can be produced by the snakes in her hair, and her tail. Would cause a dull ache and minor swelling at worst. [Level 3] Poison is produced by all the snakes on her person, about half of which now have a more severe version. This poison causes a sharper, burning pain, and a weakness of body. [Level 4] Poison is now stronger in all snakes and her own fangs, although a few still remain more mild. The worst ones cause a spreading, burning pain, weakness in body, and a fever that may or may not cause hallucinations. [Level 5]
...touch of stone [Level 1] Can cause the toughening of some parts of her skin for a few minutes at a time. [Level 2] Can cause her fingers and hands to turn almost to stone. Can be held for a few minutes at a time. [Level 3] While using the power to petrify her own hands, she can touch and turn very small objects to stone - however, they return to normal the moment she loses contact with them. [Level 4] Can use this ability to petrify her arms completely into stone, raising her impact if she were to hit anyone. Any small area or object she touches while in use will be turned to stone as well, and be unusable for a few moments until they revert back. [Level 5]
...shed skin [Level 1] A form of self-repair, skin will begin to shed around minor scrapes and scratches and grow back more quickly, speeding up healing time by nearly half.. [Level 2] A form of self-repair, skin will shed around light scratches or burns and grow back at a higher rate, speeding up healing time by nearly half. [Level 3] A minor healing ability, damaged tissue around cuts and abrasions will begin to heal rapidly until it can be shed from the top layers of skin. Process takes about a minute to complete, can only be done up to 3 times in a day. [Level 4] [Level 5]
...flying [Level 1] [Level 2] [Level 3] [Level 4] [Level 5]Resistances...toxins -
...petrification -Weaknesses...cold
- Although far from completely cold-blooded, Adeline seems to have a very hard time keeping warm in cold weather. She often starts to 'freeze up' and become very still; may also get uncomfortably close to someone else if she's desperate for warmth. . . . . . . . . . .

2 / 22 / 10 I'm scared. . . . . . . . . . .
It's been days since my 'episode'...three, to be exact. When I stumbled from the bathroom screaming, fell and bruised my knees on the tile floor. I don't remember the faded gold and white pattern of that ground, the shape of those tiles... neither do I remember the one just to the side of the door frame that's been pushed out of place; the one I tripped on.
And when I woke up that morning, I hadn't known about my snakes either.
My name is Adeline, although I could be wrong - that's only what the woman in the house told me. She said she was my mom, that I had fallen ill and probably wouldn't understand that. But it would be all right. There were tears in her eyes and I feel like I want to believe her, but I'm unsure...I want nothing to do with the photos of her family, or her quite words trying to fool me. I feel like I've lost something, a lot of it too.
She told me I should write what I was feeling, but it doesn't feel good to be writing here. I'm writing in another girl's journal, and I feel sick. Like I've taken the place of someone who has died, but can't fill the absence all the way.
If I've really forgotten everything, will I remember? I don't feel any sparks. And it terrifies me. I don't want that lady, my 'mom', to come in here and see me again. I don't think I could bear it. . . . . . . . . . .

2 / 22 / 10 Held breath. . . . . . . . . . .
There was a silence quite unnatural to the house, hanging heavily down on every corner like a blanket of smog. Even her footsteps made no sound, barefoot against panels of dark wood, as she neared the bedroom that belonged to her ill child. She stopped just in front of the door, curling her toes against the floor while she angled her ear forward. Utter silence. Had she finally gone to sleep?
No, Colette realized, as a shaky breath was taken from inside. The sound broke her heart, but even as it hurt, she found an intense dread bleed through her veins at the thought of confronting Adeline again. What do you say to someone who has forgotten everything? She'd taken the advice of everyone she asked, but her daughter would have nothing of it. It was her job to find a way to reach her, but that wasn't an easy job to have.
Three gentle knocks went unanswered, although the whimpers abruptly stopped. Colette opened the door and peered inside, eyes adjusting to the dark and searching for...ah. On the bed. Two pools of deep amber glowed even in the dark, even when staring out from behind her knees. "Adeline, I..."
And that's when she realized that the tiny purple figure hunched across the room wasn't staring at her, she was glaring. A fierce sort of glare that burned through the glassy film of tears above pupiless eyes, and made her entire body go rigid. Colette's knees even buckled together as a tremor shot down her spine, telling her that she was honestly frightened - something she'd never felt toward her own kid. Anything she had to say was ripped straight from her mouth, and left the red-haired woman staring with unmoving shock in her eyes.
"I do not want to talk to you. It is not all right. I want to be left alone! Just go!"
They were the only words Adeline would speak for the rest of that night, pausing moments afterward to hiccup another gulp of hair into her lungs and bury her face into her legs. She wouldn't look up again either, until the door closed nearly 20 minutes later - but she would be very aware of her mother's breathing as she sat next to her, an arm around her shoulders, in silence. It was enough to tell her she was forgiven, but Adeline was already dedicated for never using those powers in the house ever again. . . . . . . . . . .

2 / 24 / 10 Eavesdropping. . . . . . . . . . .
Adeline had made a habit of closing herself off from the world behind her bedroom door - spending hours on end flipping through crisp pages of the journal that wasn't hers, running slender fingers over the billowing lace drapes, and watching the sky with sad eyes and wondering if she had seen this same view before. The slightest of tugs bothered her subconscious, but any memories eluded her as if they had been whispered into her ear much too softly.
Today, the diary was open on top of the smooth mahogany wood of her reading desk. The pages seemed to have suffered more wear in the past week than they had in their whole existence beforehand, but this went unnoticed. Adeline was so very absorbed in the words, each delicate and curved letter in a print not unlike her own, that she almost didn't realize that her mother was talking somewhere out in the hallway.
Talking to herself? She took a second in hesitation, attention shifting to the new stimulus, waiting for her ears to pick up the words. "...No, not at all. She hasn't." Ah, Colette was on the phone. That made a lot more sense than just insanity, and was a pinch more comforting to think about. Scooting her chair out in order to eavesdrop, she would've made her mother proud. "...Oh that's not...no. Eva please, could you just listen to me? She's still recovering, it's too soon for that. ...Yes, I'm sure. EVA, I'm sure!" Adeline's expression went from neutral to uncomfortable, realizing just what the phone call was about. The name "Eva" meant nothing to her personally, it was just one of many things she had heard from Mom, the name-dropper.
Interest in the future of the conversation bottomed out and Adeline covered her ears childishly. How unhappy it was to be the sick relative, center of attention, without knowing who gave a damn.
"I know she's your sister, honey. I love her too. I'll make sure to let you know..." . . . . . . . . . .
