While you may be ready to embark on challenging missions, battle super skilled enemy shinobi, or challenge the Kage for their leadership of the village, your character may not be. The key to making your ninja stronger in this guild is by training them. This thread is designed to run you through the steps of a basic training session so that you may gain admittance into the shinobi academy. Also, it is here as a reference in case you need ideas for training your character once they've reached a high enough level to unlock the option for you to create your own training sessions.

Training


I've placed a sample profile below, as well as part of a training session so that you can follow that while you read to help make the system a bit more clear. I've also added a few notes in green and bolded to point out important things. Obviously, you don't need to include these notes when you're training.

When training your ninja, you are expected to place the details of the training under every single post involved with your training session. This is what those details will look like:

Now here's what all of this stuff means. Before you go onto this, don't be afraid if it sounds a little confusing. We are dedicated to spending as long as it takes to get you used to this stuff and will explain things as slowly and as clearly as possible. It is mainly what you will learn when taking on your first training session in the Docks of Shimagakure thread.


Taijutsu Training - Hardening One's Resolve
The part labeled "Taijutsu Training" is the type of training that Anzu is doing. The part labeled "Hardening One's Resolve" is simply the name of the training. This is simply created by either you or the character who gave you your training assignment.


The next section of text is a description of the training session. If you've made the training yourself, you will write this up, but if the training has been assigned to you, the assigner will take care of that.


DC: 14:
The term "DC" means "Dice Check". This means that you will need to roll a 20 sided die with your post. Your goal is to either meet or surpass this number with your roll. A few numbers will get added to your roll to help it meet this DC. These will be explained in the next section.


1d20+Taijutsu=
After having rolled the die, you then add the rolled number to whichever skill or ability that your character happens to be training in. In the case of this training session, Anzu is training her taijutsu skill, so she would look in her profile to locate what her taijutsu skill happens to be, and add it to whatever her roll was. You can find Anzu's profile below this post. You can find yours in the Profile Scroll

Anzu must also add in one final number to her roll. As you can see, the skills are divided by which abilities affect them (strength, intelligence, agility, ect.). Abilities help out skills and other aspects of a character with what are known as modifiers. The modifier is determined by a formula that the crew has set up. This is the formula: (Ability-10)/2. You don't need to know this, as we'll take care of it for you, but it's just so you understand why there is one big number next to Strength at the top of the stat portion of the profile scroll, and a smaller number next to Strength at the bottom.

Since Anzu is using taijutsu, she will look at the Strength Mod that is near her taijutsu skill and add it to her roll. Her taijutsu is three, and her Strength Mod is one, so that makes a total taijutsu bonus of four, which will be added to every taijutsu roll that she makes.


Special:
You won't see this final category in every training session you create or are assigned, but it will happen to come up if you're doing some sort of difficult training. It is just a little extra challenge added onto the training session to make it more interesting. If you see this category in your training and aren't quite sure of what you're supposed to do, feel free to PM the person who gave it to you and have them explain what it's all about.

Finally, the last section of the training format. The 0 represents how many successful rolls a character has made against the DC, and the 3 represents how many successful rolls must be made in order to finish the training session.



Well that's all for basic training. If all of it sounded confusing, no worries, our crew will answer any questions you have, and will be there to guide you along if you're not sure what to ask. Keep in mind that you can't create your own training sessions until your character has reached level three. This ensures us that you'll be taught what a few of the important skills do before you go off on your own and begin to train.

Physical Description:
Hayashi Anzu is about average size for her age, though due to her training after the attack on the village, her body has become much leaner and more muscular.

Clothing:
Anzu wears a simple dark T-shirt and knee-length shorts. She has concerned herself with the village far too much to really care about a sense of style.

Personality:
Anzu is a charming girl, hard working, and extremely loyal to the village of Shimagakure. She is most interested in helping new students learn how to control their skills, abilities, techniques, and develop themselves as individuals.

Background:
While she couldn't say that she remembered much before the great catastrophe that had struck Shimagakure, Anzu had pretty much lived a simple life in the days before the village had been attacked. After having witnessed the events of those terrible days, she dedicated herself to helping upstart shinobi, hoping to one day bring peace to the world.

It had been a crisp and cool early Spring morning, and to be honest, Anzu had some difficulty bothering herself to get out of bed. As she had laid there in the stillness of her room, the female ninja was having the odd morning in which one forgets recent events until their mind makes the effort to actually wake up along with the body. Unfortunately, the girl almost wished that it hadn't, as terrible memories of the village's destruction broke through the barricade of grogginess and flooded into her mind. Her heart sank in these waters for a few moments, and she began to lose a little hope, as she had managed to catch a glimpse of one of the evil people who had caused the damage as they took on a group of shinobi that she had always regarded as being quite powerful. She constantly wondered how she could ever train hard enough to surpass something of that strength, and the void of hopelessness began to close around her. The girl shut her eyes for a moment, took one deep breath, and counted backwards from seven. There was no time to do the full ten, she thought, and then quickly forced herself out of the warm temple of her blankets and into the chilled air that had so willingly made reservations in her room.

After having shaken off the grumpy and overall negative mood that had grasped her tired mind, Anzu quickly went through her morning preparations and then headed outside of her house, into her front yard. She was greeted by the sun in the east, which was lazily making its way over the horizon, seeming to be going through about the same set of moods that the girl had experienced herself. It was a bit brisk outside and there was still a bit of frost on the ground, as it hadn't been Spring for long, but Anzu didn't mind. In fact, she liked it to be a little cold outside, it allowed her to train for a bit longer since she didn't warm up quite as fast. On this day, she decided to do a bit of taijutsu training to warm herself up. She entered her favorite stance, the one that her mother had taught her as soon as she could walk, and focused all of her attention on a large knot that squirreled in the center of the tree. Once everything had reached a complete stillness, Anzu allowed a loud shout to emerge from her mouth as she swung one of her feet forward, aimed straight at the knot that seemingly stared right back at her. She was taught to give every strike everything she had, so she didn't waste any time in going all out in her training.

After managing to hit the tree with a very successful side kick, Anzu quickly followed up with a powerful punch, knowing that an enemy wouldn't give her any time to gather her bearings, especially since she just would have knocked half of their teeth out! The frost had made the ground a fair bit more slippery that even the dew managed to on the mornings, and Anzu had already stored this bit of information in the back of her mind, but it didn't mean the frost wouldn't mess the girl up. She remembered how her father used to rattle on about how important the little things were. He had constantly retold the story of his favorite battle against a tough enemy shinobi on one of his missions. The two were locked in the battle for hours, quite evenly matched, and neither of them seemed willing to give in. Anzu's father had already used every trick up his sleeve, and was beginning to worry about the outcome of the fight, when very suddenly, a gust of wind caused a small twig to break from a nearby tree. The stick lightly tapped against the enemy's face, distracting him for a single moment, and Anzu's father was there in a flash, easily neutralizing the opponent. 'You never know what fate is going to leave on your doorstep,' he'd always say.

Unfortunately, thoughts of her father sent Anzu into a bit of an emotional state, causing her to lose her graces and slip on the frost, crashing to the ground on her side. The girl breathed a heavy sigh and wiped a cool tear from her eye. She realized that her mind had wandered a bit from her training, which had led to the mistake. The girl picked herself right back up from the ground and entered her taijutsu stance once again. She wouldn't be defeated by sad memories, or challenging odds. The girl was determined to make herself stronger so that she could help younger shinobi to get to her level of skill, and then hopefully surpass her so that they could eventually band together and take down the evil that had destroyed much of Shimagakure's very foundation. With an even louder shout than the first that she had echoed throughout her yard, Anzu let fly the same kind of punch that she had messed up on, aiming right for the center of the knot that she was using for a target. She was determined to help revive Shimagakure, bringing it back to its respectable status, and then bringing it beyond that so nothing terrible would ever happen to her favorite place in the world ever again.
