Bio:

~~~~~~~~~~~~
RL Japi
Full Name: Japi Lucarium
Gender: Female
Age: ??
Race: Mystic
Marital Status: Married to Lithanus Lucarium
Job: Mother
Personality: Funloving and carefree, Japi lives her life in a relaxed state. Her existence has spanned so many years, she's learned to take everything in stride. The only things that can get her worked up are her kids, mostly regarding their safety.
Bio: Japi is the loving mother of way too many kids. She spent several millennia using her powers and forming children to set in different planes of existence from her home in Midpoint. Some time ago, she came to Gaia and fell in love, renouncing a big portion of her power in order to be with him. Now, she has adopted and given birth to many children in Gaia and considers this her home. As far as the [The World] is concerned, Japi played both R:1 and R:2 (but not R:3 because she was too busy with children). She was around for all the rumors that arose during those two versions but doesn't actually know any of the truth of a bit of it. When R:4 came out, she immediately went out and bought herself a copy so she could get back into playing her favorite MMO ever.
It's here!
"Oh my God it's here! It's here, it's here!"
Japi's husband looked at her like she was completely insane. Which was likely, as she was jumping up and down shaking uncontrollably and clutching his arms. "What?"
"R 4~!" She threw her arms around and hugged him.
Now it was coming back to him. She'd done something similar about two weeks ago, saying 'It's out.' instead of 'It's here.' and he remembered telling her to go ahead and buy it. R:4 was referring to the fourth version of [The World] an online game Japi had been obsessed with for a while. Lith liked games like that, but the last time he'd looked at that particular one, he wasn't sure it was really his type.
"Well, go install it, silly," he told her, watching her dash off, squealing excitedly to grab her laptop from their room. What a dork. She was more of a kid than any of their kids.
~~
Japi set up her laptop hastily, not even plugging it in or getting out the mouse before she stuck the installation CD in it's place and started it installing. Then she pulled the mouse and power cord and hooked everything up, setting her fairy mousepad up on the desk and table and moving everything into place there.
She sat down in place and spun the chair around waiting for the install to finish. After all that, it was only 15%. "Hurry up!"
She counted outloud every percent that installed, Lith coming into the room to check on her once, before shaking his head and leaving her alone.
When it was finally done, she logged in, set up an account and got to the character creation screen. She chose female of course. Japi liked playing characters that were her own gender, though she occasionally made male characters. Still, her first one should be female.
For her first character, Japi wanted to have something different from when she played R:4. She was a Tribal Grappler last time she played, a class they had again. But this time she wanted a weapon user.
To her delight, they still had the Flick Reaper and she selected it and proceeded to search through the character appearances, running across the perfect one. She was wearing a beautiful short kimono. "Ah!" It was perfect, especially since Japi was a big fan of kimonos and wore them all the time. She chose a nice matching hairstyle, one with chopsticks through it and picked purple. For the kimono, she picked green and chose blue eyes. She had always liked the cool colors best, after all.
Ooh. They were letting you choose a job separate from the class. A new feature, though she couldn't be sure if they didn't have it in R:3, since she was unable to play it. But they let you input your own title (though it had a disclaimer about losing your account if you make it something dirty, so people wouldn't be dumb about it). She just typed 'Adventurer' in the line, since she couldn't think of anything else.
Now for a name. Ugh, that was the hardest part. It always took her so long to come up with names for anything. Well, she was going to be playing this character as herself, so she could put her name, but she thought that was silly. Maybe her last name? Or part of both? Japi Lucarium - Ja Luca - Jaluca. That sounded nice. Now maybe a last name? She looked at her character, swaying to one side of the screen. Bloom? It fit somehow. Jaluca Bloom. She typed it in and hit next.
Review information.
She looked it over and thought about it. "Oh wait!" She went to her closet and grabbed her FMD and controller to hook them up to the computer and put the FMD on and clicked the button that said 'play' with her controller.
Her next adventure in [The World] had begun.
I remember.
Ah, Mac Anu.
Sure, the layout was a little different as it was with every version of the world, but this town would always be pretty much the same. It's beautiful bridges, and clear water, so you could see the channel underneath, the wonderful way it always looked close to sunset, and the amazing architecture all made this place one of Japi's favorites. Then again, most of the places in [The World] were her favorites.
The controls were pretty similar to the last time she played, but some were a bit different. The camera turned the other way when she pushed the stick. That could be changed in options. She stopped a moment to invert camera control, so it felt right to her. Some people liked it the other way, but not her. She wanted to look the way she turned the stick. But other than that, things were pretty much the same.
She spotted some fun looking characters hanging around the open air market. Looked like they brought back the shop system too. There were lots of them in fancy armors and some magic users in very nice flowy outfits and such. They'd really gone all out with the character designs this time. There were so many different ones. She wondered if she had looked through all the different character costumes how long it would have ended up taking her. Probably forever, especially since she'd forget after a while.
She didn't figure it would be nice to interrupt any conversations, so instead, she looked at her inventory to see if she could buy anything. Two health drinks and nothing else. Not even any gold.
"Looks like I'll just have to go adventuring," she grinned at her perfect choice of 'job' and her character grinned with her. She headed back toward the gate, though she got turned around once, finding a fountain instead of the chaos gate. But she knew she'd get the hang of navigating Mac Anu again pretty quickly. Her second try led her to the chaos gate just fine.
She pulled up the list of words. They were probably using the system where you can learn new words by talking to people or reading the message board. That was cool. It was an element she liked just fine from the previous games.
She picked a decent looking level one area.
~~
Δ Lazy Someone's Doorstep
The area wasn't all that big. It was a field only, no dungeon. They must be going with more of the R:2 feel for areas, though the graphics were immensely better. She was really beginning to feel like she was in the game, especially with the help of her FMD.
The first set of monsters she attacked she managed to get the jump on. Oooh, she still had the skill trigger. Wonderful. It was her first battle, so the game paused in certain placed to give her tips. She wondered if people would have gotten annoyed if she'd invited those who had already played through their tutorial. Probably.
But her first battle wasn't bad and she managed to defeat all the monsters without dying. But her HP was pretty low and it appeared she didn't regain that over time, only SP. Maybe she should have invited a healer.
It didn't matter, she had two health drinks, if she needed them.
She broke a barrel in the area and got an Antidote Soda and added it to her item list.
She made it through her next battle without dying but she knew she wouldn't survive another, so she took a health drink to restore some of her hit points. It restored all of them.
After a while, near the end of the area, she had three more items from barrels, all junk for selling and had defeated (just barely) three sets of monsters surrounding chests (each with a symbol fragment, the last of which showed a building opening) and had used her other health drink. There was one more group of enemies surrounding a chest and she had to go past them to get to the big building. Barely surviving this last battle, Japi opened the chest to find a health drink. Thank goodness.
Finally, she was able to enter the building opened by the symbol fragments and grab the treasure inside. Japi had Jaluca open the chest and inside was a Fist Altair. Go figure. It would have been nice if she'd picked a Tribal Grappler. Still, she could sell it later, with some of the other stuff.
