The large umber pelted female sat at the edge of the stream that ran through the pack lands in which she lived. She had met and followed Haku back to the lands at first believing she would only stay a short while, and had found herself wrapped up in everything and the land had become her home. She had somehow held slight expectations for the alpha but had been let down. The disappointment had held her for a short while and she had taken to making all of her time busied with patrols and hunting parties. But that barely filled the void that had been created. The void had long closed though, it only bothered her from time to time, reminding herself that she had left her old pack for the reason of seeing new things and she had.
Shaking herself Kearith shoved the thoughts from her mind as she drank from the cool water that was icy with the snow melt that still flowed from the mountains. She sneezed as the water splashed up on her nose, sitting back on her haunches she looked up to the clear sky, unblemished by clouds or even the occasional bird. It was a beautiful day. Kear had lovingly accepted the winter with her extra thick pelt well meant for the chilled temperatures, it was the hot summers she was not meant for being a northern wolf.
The grass that had begun to grow back smelled sweet, calling to the large femme and her firefly speckled pelt. Unable to resist herself she leaped up with a puppy-like yip and dove into the grass, rolling about it, legs failing through the air and tongue lolling from her mouth.

Gaara was wandering the perimeter of the area packlands after returning from a bit of a hiatus from the place...he'd been wandering quite a bit. It was hard to stay in one place again, especially after meeting up with his daughter again and hearing rumors of his sister being close by.
As he wandered, he heard the yip--which startled him--and made him freeze in his steps. Frowning, he looked around curiously, only to spot one of the females he hadn't really gotten to know, but recognized from the pack gatherings he had actually attended.
Blinking, Gaara decided he needed to be more...social, and made his way towards her, a small, forced smile crossing his lips as he approached.
"Hello there, --" s**t, what was her name. Sigh. "Enjoying the break in the nasty weather?" It was hard for him to speak to other wolves...he'd never been good at it, and with so many backstabbers and wolves he couldn't trust, it was even harder for him to attempt to trust anyone. But, he might as well try, right?

Kear started when she heard the large male say hello. She rolled over onto her side and tilted her head. She had in her time not caught the large males name. With his size she was surprised that he did not have a pack following him rather than following another such as Haku. "Kearith." she said simply sitting up properly and tilting her head with a sincere smile. She couldn't help but be intrigued by the males markings.
"You may just call me Kear if you like though." she chuckled lightly and pawed at the soft grass beneath her feet. "I suppose you could say that. I like the cold weather, right now...this is perfect to me, the summer I'll suffer though. I came from the high mountains to the north." she said with a sigh and a shrug.
"I'm sorry, but I don't believe I know your name..." she asking looking at him a little closer her golden eyes taking him in. Her tail slide over the grass lightly in a friendly manner.

"Kearith," he tested the name out, finding it a little difficult to flow from his tongue. "Pretty," he complimented, smiling a bit..trying to be nice.
Slowly, he moved to sit where he was, not wanting to get too close. It was like approaching a stranger at this point, so he didn't want to make her uncomfortable. She was large for a female, but he was still larger..towering over her, as well as their alpha.
"Ah, yes--I came from the mountains as well. But I was born to humans that lived in a very hot area of these lands," he grinned, "So I'm used to both climates." He paused, "I'm Gaara. It's a pleasure to finally meet you..Kearith," he tried out her name again, proud that he could pronounce it correctly.

Bowing her head in a thanks at the larger male she continued to smile up at him. "Thank you." she said, pondering to herself if he found it rude is she laid back down in the grass. Deciding against it until she felt more comfortable around the male.
She relaxed a little when he sat himself, but still refused to lay herself down for the time being. He truly was a large wolf, hovering over her the way he did, but she held no fear in his size. She was a bold female and little scared her much. She noticed the distance he kept but didn't allow it to bother her any, neither of them knew other other than the fact that they belonged to the same pack there was still too little they knew about each other.
"Ah, you're lucky then. I came out of the mountains for the selfish idea of exploring what else was beyond my old packs lands. I grew sick of the pack life, and I somehow found myself here." she laughed despite herself. "Gaara..." she tested the name, she stumbled over the 'r' and tried again. "Gaara...got it." she nodded her maw. "The pleasure is mine."

Gaara wanted the female to feel comfortable around him...he didn't want to intimidate her or make her think she couldn't be comfortable around him. So, he needed to bring himself to relax as well.
So, after a moment or two of shifting his weight from leg to leg, he slowly moved to lie down, rolling his weight to one side to rest against his left side, his hind legs stretched out and his front legs crossed so he could rest his head down in a little while...but not yet. He was exhausted from his travels, but he didn't want to seem weak after a little bit of walking.
He smiled, for once sincerely, when she told him about how she grew sick of her previous pack. Nodding, he chuckled a bit, his laugh automatically a little dark...old habits die hard. "I see. I had a pack of my own with my previous mate. She up and disappeared with our children one day, so I wandered for years...and found myself here with Haku, who was an ally to me when he first took me in as a pup," Gaara explained, a grin still tugging at the corners of his ebone lips, "So here I am. I owe him my life I suppose. What brought you to him, might I ask?"

Shifting a little herself, she watched at Gaara made himself more comfortable, laying down just as she had been wanting to do. Following suit she settled herself onto the grass, lavishing the feeling of the soft young blades against her fur. Her paws crossed delicately in front of her.
Even lying down Gaara's size was quite large, for once in her life Kear actually felt small. Something Kear was not used to at all. Sure Haku was larger than her, but she was used to Alpha males being so large, but Gaara truly was a sight with his extraordinary size. It drew her attention to him though, in some strange way that Kearith could not help herself.
"Really? I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure it must bother you that she took your pups away like that." she said with a slight whine. She'd never had a litter of her own, but she could only imagine the pain if her mate had taken them away from her. "Wow, you've known each other that long. If you ask me, by the looks of you, you should be leading this pack instead of him." she chuckled slightly.
A heavy sigh left her breast as she thought about what had brought her to stay in the pack. "I stumbled upon Haku while traveling. I needed a place to rest for a short while and he allowed me to stay with him. As you can see, I just....never left. There was food, a constant place to sleep and this was back in the summer and traveling in that heat was hard on me. So staying put was the smarter move for me." she shrugged and laid her umber head on her paws, her tail limp behind her.

"Oh, no. No need to be sorry," he smirked, "She was growing weak. The fact that she took our children means that she had protection, at least." He gave a slight shrug, "I recently ran into my daughter, she's started her own pack as well. I'm just glad to know that they broke away from their mother after a while." He shouldn't talk about it anymore, he supposed. Not all that important to him anymore.
"Me?" Gaara laughed, raising his head proudly at the compliment without really even thinking about it. "Haku is a good alpha, he knows what he's doing. Though I wont lie and say that I wouldn't prefer to have my own pack. I do miss being the head of a pack." He had a power thing..didn't like being below anyone, but he wouldn't dare to go against Haku after all the older wolf had done for him.
"I see," he murmured, nodding to her explanation of being here. "Do you wish to return to the mountains one day?" Gaara asked curiously, maybe a bit too eagerly. He was curious to know of her plans for some reason...overly curiously. How strange.

"Well I am glad to hear that you were at least able to reconnect with one of your children. That must have made you proud to know she had her own pack, to be strong enough to do such a thing. Not everyone can lead a pack." she said with a sigh, her mind wandering to the idea of such a thing. She had never truly considered leading a pack herself, but it wasn't such a bad idea. As long as she had a big, male...one like Gaara by her side. She could be more of a support than a true leader, she would work more behind the scenes.
Kearith nodded. "He is a fair Alpha...but I just don't know. I find myself longing to leave again, to go out wandering again and see new things. I don't blame you though, after leading a pack before, I would think it would be so hard to go being a lower member of a pack." she said rolling onto her back, legs akimbo in the air and tail waving slowly over the grass.
Kear's golden eyes looked up at the large male tilting her head to the side to see him a little better. "I've though though it. I do know I wouldn't mind being a little further north. It gets too hot down here in the south for me at times in the middle of the summer months. My pelt is just too thick and I over heat myself too quickly." she sighed, rolling back onto her side. "What about you? Any plans to go back north?"

Relaxing fully when he watched her roll onto her back and roll around int he grass a bit, he rested his head down to his paws and sighed heavily, lightly pawing at the grass with a smile.
"Yeah, I have that feeling, too," he questioned, cocking his head slightly. "I miss running a pack...and I dont like being beneath anyone," he smiled a bit more, tail curling close to his legs and rear. He was strangely comfortable around her, it was strange, he hadn't felt this way since..well, he had met his first mate.
What an odd feeling--and thought.
"I want to," Gaara mumbled, stretching his legs out as he rolled onto his side, giving a heavy sigh that made the small bits of remaining snow flurry away from his face, "Haku already said he would understand if I left. You..ah, you're welcome to come with me..I think it'd be nice to have the company?" he questioned hopefully, looking up towards her with his bright eyes. He felt like a pup right now...it felt weird, but nice.

A puppy-like smile spread over Kearith's face as Gaara truly relaxed. Something about him constantly kept her attention, made her feel alive again, instead of the dull sense of stupor she had been living with the passed few months. She had been getting tired of being settled here with nothing to truly look forward to. Already she was bored, looking for a new adventure and Gaara gave her than sense of excitement she had been lacking in her live.
"I bet. I really don't think I've be able to deal with it, going from being on the top having everyone look to you for guidance and strength to looking to someone else as well as everyone around you." she said shaking her head and licking her dark nose. In a way she understood. In her old pack she had been a much higher ranked wolf, in a way she longed for that again, to simply be recognized for exactly what she was.
Golden eyes light up like the sun at the mention of being allowed to follow with Gaara if he left the pack to search out going north again. "I would be honored to go along with you. And to go North again, would be wonderful." she said brightly her tail taking on a life of its own, thumping the ground.

Gaara smirked at this. Ah, so she had been higher ranked as well. Interesting. He partially wondered how high in the ranks she had been, but decided to not to pry any deeper into it for the time being..maybe during their travels.
"You--dont plan to return to your old lands if we go back to the mountains, do you?" Maybe she did. What if she did? Would he end up alone again?
Wincing inwardly at the thought, his own tail thumped lazily against the ground, his legs stretching out comfortably in the warm sunlight, despite the minimal amount of snow on the ground. It felt nice--being relaxed, sunning himself, and speaking of traveling and moving on. He hated being held to this pack..to not be on top, even if he did respect Haku, he was just too wild to be tamed by someone else.

Kear shook her head. "Oh no, I have no plans of returning at all. As far as I know my old pack disbanded as well. It became too full of rumors and traitors. I believe my family may have stuck together but i can't be too sure. Even still, I like being out on my own, doing something different." she said looking up to the sky. "That freedom to do as needs to and wants to without constantly being gauged at how well or how bad you do something." she sighed and looked back down to Gaara. Her eyes falling on the strange marking on his chest.
The more she looked at Gaara she noticed the multitude of markings over his body, almost similar to the marking humans had put into their own skins. She had seen it once before, but Gaara's markings truly caught her attention.
"So what would you be looking for in a new pack? I mean...you don't have your mate anymore, wouldn't it be hard to lead a pack by yourself?" she asked tilting her head. "Not to say you couldn't do it...but...I can't say it'd be easy."

"I see," he smirked, somewhat relieved that he might not have to travel by himself for a while. Maybe she'd stick around for his new pack, he wouldn't mind having he around at all. Especially if she stayed like this even outside of the pack.
"Freedom is nice," he cooed, snickering, "Being ordered around is never fun. Though growing up is never fun either, I suppose." His puphood hadn't been that great though. As an adult his life was so much better.
"I started out on my own and my mate joined me after. But it is nice to have someone with me to lead the pack," he nodded, moving to lie on his stomach, somewhat noticing the female looking him over--probably eyeing the markings as well. Hm. Not like it made him uncomfortable.
"Interested in possibly being an alpha?" Was that too straightforward? I's not like he was asking her to be his mate...a mutual alpha relationship would just be helpful.

Kearith shook her maw. "No, I quite have to agree with you there. Being ordered around is never something i have taken too much liking too. I understand the need for communication and having a plan made out when hunting an all, but in general back around the pack.." she sighed, continuing to shake her large head. "I just don't feel it. I prefer to be able to make my own decisions." she shrugged her shoulder slightly, only telling the truth.
"I see, but yeah, it really would think it would be a lot easier to run a pack with someone by your side. Not everything comes down on you and you can share the responsibilities of holding a pack together." she said a seriousness coming over her. She knew how a pack was run, she had watched with great intent when she had been younger at how her pack was run, but she had been able even then to see the flaws that would alter lead to the destruction of her pack.
Kear, stopped her investigation of his markings and blinked at Gaara, was he really asking her to possibly stand by him and lead a pack by his side? "I've...never truly thought about it, but I would be interested, I believe I'm strong enough to hold such a position. That is...if you don't mind me?" she said, tilting her head slightly at him.
