Full moon. Full moon and he was completely and utterly bored not to mention restless. The moon hung over the lake deceptively close...Deceptively within reach. Maybe it was for those with wings but not him. Tonight was different. There was something about the sudden electric charge of the air that had him skittering around the lake, chasing the shadow of something he just couldn't quite reach. Aishi was squawking at him for disturbing her slumber once or twice but he merely tossed his head, paused long enough to assess whether or not the hawk was intent on pecking out his eyes before he was off again. The third time he passed beneath the hawk's chosen perch she all but started shrieking at him before taking to the air with him close on her tail.
A good circuit around the lake and a partial one through the forest had Alister winded enough for him to draw to a stop, wadding into the lake until it brushed his underside, soothing his steaming legs and heaving sides. It was also giving him a moment to watch as Aishi finally returned to her perch but not before shrilling at him for being disruptive. Leave it to the hawk to scold him more than his own mother. Of course his own mother hadn't attempted to peck out his eyes but that didn't mean the mare hadn't aimed a kick at him once or twice out of sheer annoyance. Snorting softly he lowered his muzzle to the lake to take a quick sip of the water. The coolness of the lake was tempting him to wade further in and roll around for a while but he resisted that temptation. The two-legger that took care of him had scrubbed him down completely earlier in the evening and it would be utterly pointless to go and mess with all those hours of grooming just on a moment's impulse. Backing out of the lake slowly he shook himself to rid his hide of most of the water had slowly started to collect from his brief soak.
