((Timeline note: Post move to Ghenza, but before the Weyrleader's death.))
The sun was sweet and warm on Awunrayth's hide and there was a side of her that wanted nothing more to nap in that comfort, enjoying, as she often did, life's simple delights. There was always a reason to be happy, always something to be grateful for, in her world. While some of the dragons were struggling with the new pecking order and the occasional hostility of the Ghenzan dragons, Awunrayth was convinced herself that if she just made herself available, if she was patient, she would make friends among them.
And, patient as she was, she was not hurt by her current lack of success. It would come, in time. And yet still, despite the sun's warmth, despite the sense of her goal, despite the joy she could feel through her bond with hers, Awunrayth was uneasy. She had tried to push the thoughts that troubled her from her mind, tried, as ever, to focus on what she had. But it was Hers that made her happiest. And as it was Hers that was currently leaving her uneasy, the exercise in positive thinking was a failed one.
It was in that mood, just past midday, that the Green sought out Kalth. Fond of all her clutchmates, she was nonetheless hesitant to seek most of them out for anything but company. But Kalth was wise. He understood the world in a way Awunrayth could appreciate and admire. He would make her feel better. She was sure of it.
Kalth? May I join you? She asked, her mindvoice polite and calm despite the slight hints of yellow in her whirling eyes.

The slight blue was relaxed from a fresh meal, her thoughts calm and peaceful as he sunned himself. Ra'ffer was hard at work wrighting, enjoying the firm discipline and no-nonsense nature of Ghenza and Kalth himself couldn't find much to dislike. That was, other than the open hostility and lack of communication to be found. Of course, they simply didn't know any better here and he could not find it in himself to hold them accountable for that.
He felt, heard, smelled the green's approach before he opened his eyes, a calm, swirling blue like always. If Dragon's could smile properly, a slight one would be touching the corners of his mouth. Instead, the warmth was reflected in his tone, brushing gently, affectionately, against her mind.
There is always a place for you by my side, Awunrayth. She was positively delightful, his favorite of his clutchmates. However, he did not ask her what the problem was, confident that she would divulge the nature of her visit in due time.

You are kind. Awunrayth settled at Kalth's side with a quiet rumble of appreciation, taking the time to enjoy the feeling of the earth beneath her and the sun above before she attempted any further conversation. She sought calm in that moment, in the quiet and the nearness of her favorite clutchmate. She found it, somewhat, the yellow nearly leaving her eyes as she allowed herself to relax.
How is Yours? Her own tone was sweetened by affection, but touched slightly by a distance that indicated her thoughts were not entirely in the moment. Mine is planting in the fields. She is happy, in the sun. I am happy with her.
She'd settled so that she was not quite touching Kalth, but as she spoke she shifted closer, drawn to comfort by her own worries.
Kalth, she is very happy here. Upon the repetition of that sentiment Awunrayth allowed the anxiety to rise to the surface of her tone. She was not so happy, at the Weyr.

Kalth let out a 'whuff' of air, adjusting his positioning so that their sides pressed against each other. It was warm and welcome, the contact, now that Ra'ffer and he were not always together. Mine is well. He finds solace in the burn of his muscles. He is fixing the broken parts of this new home. Whether it was temporary or not, it was a home. Perhaps that is what disturbed his lovely companion?
Why does this pleasure bother you, friend? If possible, his blue eyes brightened with subtle amusment. Is it because you fear for our iminent return to the cold place?

She was not happy. The green made that confession almost reluctantly, her eyes taking on just a bit more yellow as she started allowing the problem to take the fore in her thoughts. She said she was happy. She tried to be happy. But she did not like it and I knew that. And I want Mine to be happy. I told her, that we were Us and that was all. That is everything.
It still puzzled her, still hurt. How was it that she could not be enough, that Hers could have her and still feel sorrow?
And now she is happy. But we will not stay here, they say. The others, they do not want to. And I do not--
There was a long hesitation, Awunrayth settling her head against her forelegs and studying something in the distance only she could see. If Mine could stay, if they let us, I will be without my clutchmates. Fear there, but mostly guilt at what the Green saw as selfishness.
