Alice was in labour, which meant that as far as Valentine's day went, most people were worrying, or going and fetching things, or blaming Remi for not panicking more. Remi was panicking, in fact, but it was the sort of panic that made his mind wander to the fact that tiny people were coming out of Alice's stomach, which inevitably led him to think: Cool!
Thus, unable to show his alternately-frowning-then-smiling face around people who were capable of worrying about the miracle of life properly, Remi was forced to seek refuge with the one person who would probably be able to stand having him around right now. Sauntering over to Gwin's art studio, pushing the door slightly ajar with his violin bow and leaning against the wall.
Swinging Rupert onto his shoulder, he put the bow onto the strings and began to play. Presently, the familiar strains of As Time Goes By were haunting the air. Eventually, he began to sing along. "You must remember this; A kiss is still a kiss, a sigh is just a siiiiiigh..."
His violin playing was noticeably better than his singing.

Gwin looked up from her painting, smiling when remi just came in and made himself welcome. She loved it when people did that, Gwin had no reason for locks... but still everyone pounded on her door when they wanted her attention, but he gained it in other such lovely ways. She winked at him and turned back to her painting, humming along with his song. "So whats the occasion Remi me lad? Bored with Alice''s speeches, Valentines day getting you down? No cute doll knocking on your door or no worthy girl to saranade to?" With a girn she finished her last stroke on the painting, small, detailed most definitely her work. "there." She clapped her hands together delightedly and spun the painting to face him.
It was of him, the finished version she had promised. "sorry its late, I got distracted with a few things... you know how it is. But happy Valentines Day."

Putting down his violin, Remi strolled in. "I've banished myself," he informed her lightly. "I'm rubbish with childbirth, and even more rubbish with Alice. As for serenading pretty girls, what do you think I'm doing, jogging?" Flashing her a grin, he went over to the painting and his eyes widened.
"Whoa, Gwin! It looks even better than before, thank you!" He looked it up and down and added, "Geez, now I sort of wish I had knocked first, I almost spoiled that surprise." He reached out to touch it, but pulled his hand away just in time. "Right, paint does that whole 'drying' thing. Proooobably shouldn't be holding it right now."
Turning back to her, he said "Sit down, sit down! Speaking of paintings, Valentine's Day, and music for girls, I have something for you, too. And it's not Casablanca."
Clearing his throat, he poised Rupert on his shoulder again, and announced "Serenade in technicolor: A song for Gwin," and began to play a swingy, vibrant sort of tune.

When Remi made a move to touch the painting, Gwin automatically swatted at his hand with her own. She was so used to this by now, students could do some seriously weird things to paintings... that were hell to repair, and sometimes even un repairable. Amusement was plain in her gaze as he requested she sit, but she did so flinging herself with a dramatic flare upon the couch and grinning up at him. Only to find herself wanting to stand again the moment she laid down. The beat to the song made her want to dance, something she didn't do very much anymore... not after she and her brother parted ways a few years back and he seemed to dominate the club scene.
"Its wonderful!" she exclaimed, standing immediately upon his ending and clapping her hands. After a moment she walked over to him and hugged him happily, but something puzzled her.
"You mentioned kids... what was that about?"

Remi bowed genteelly. "Thank yuh, thank yuh, thank yuh verra much," he said, imitating Elvis. He accepted the hug and squeezed her a little tightly. (Remi's hug motto was that the more likely he was to suffocate, the better the hug it was.)
Pulling back, he said "You didn't know? Alice is in labour." He frowned and looked outside the door. "I don't think there's much I can do, but I hope everything goes okay and all. What a thing to happen on Valentine's day, huh? Pushing babies out of you all poppitty-pop."
He rubbed his head. "I'm not good with pregnant women in general, you know. On a scale of one to ten, I'd say I score a 'terrible'."

Gwin was happy, that much was sure... what could she say the guy could give a good hug. Most men were afraid of breaking her... like that would ever happen. Laughing she pulled back and went toward the makeshift kitchen looking about for something. Her ears perked up with what he was saying. "Oh, it was bound to happen soon anyway... she was the size of a house, and grumpy as a pit pull with a stick somewhere unpleasant." She paused, listening to the rest of his statement a small smile lighting up her face as she changed the direction from what she was going for.
He and women with child... not a good idea. Good to know.
Pulling out a small pretty bottle Gwin raised it up to him, still crouched by the basket she found it in. "Had it since New Years, shall we toast to the lovely additions to the university? Even if neither of us have the stomach to see their 'auditions'?" she laughed at her own pun once more, and pulled out two crystal glasses she had managed to find in a human store sometime back. Gwin poured the thick Burgundy colored liquid into the glasses and turned to remi, offering him one.

"Still, I'm sure she'd rather be doing something romantic like that. Something with, I don't know, flowers and stuff. From what I've heard of having kids, it involves a lot of screaming. Sounds like it can totally ruin your day."
He laughed. "Haven't you heard? I have to sit in for a few and do my duty to the University. I'm looking forward to it though. They can't be that bad, right?" He paused.
"Right?" Looking vaguely worried now, he accepted the drink he offered him and raised it at her. "To new additions!" he said, sipping his.
Surprisingly, Remi handled his liquor well. Probably because he was already ridiculous enough when sober.

She smiled and raised her glass to his, before taking a sip herself and making her way back to the couch. "Im glad your exited to be taking charge for a bit." Gwin looked out the pretty window thinking to herself, lost in her own mind. Seconds ticked by, but eventually she blinked and looked up. "I bet she is wanting to do something fun, I mean what girl wouldn't want to?" She held her liquor well (even though she rarely drinks), but Gwinivere tended to stray in her thinking... doting on things she usually wouldn't consider, and pondering things most people would brush away with a flick of the hand.
"How bout we go do something? I mean Alice would want to do something, so why don't we not to let her down?" Gwin wasn't sure if she was saying something silly or not, but she didn't really care. Looking around she paused on her Technicolor raincoat and rain boots and smiled.
"Lets go dancing!" Where she got dancing from Technicolor outdoor gear... who knew.

"I don't really think like girls do, but I know I'd rather be having fun on Valentine's day than having kids." Remi said conscientiously. "Not that they won't be fun later, I'm sure, but yeesh."
He considered her suggestion. "I think it's a good idea." he said slowly. "I mean... Alice would want us to, I'm sure. It's practically morally responsible." Sure it was! "We should get her a souvenir though, just in case. You can't go wrong with souvenirs, right?" Now all that was left was the problem of what to do, until Gwin piped up.
"Brilliant! I love dancing, just let me grab some nicer threads." He ran out into the hall and came back moments later with a blue suit jacket and an inexplicable captain's hat. Remi's classroom was full of things from his journeys, and he had he would wear pretty much anything that amused him. He gestured out the door, holding it open for Gwin, and said, "Aprez vous, Mademoiselle."

Shaking her head at how quickly he had agreed Gwin found herself giggling. When he stepped outside the room she walked to the sink and washed –most- of the paint from her hands. A quick hair ruffle and smock stripping she found herself ready, even before he came back!
(for a ref, Gwin is usually in something nearly obscene, and rainbow in flavor. Paint is splattered on mismatched stockings, and somehow has gotten into the darker part of her short hair, making it stand up messily in some places and she’s in a short top showing off her tummy. Make up is nooon existent.)
How bout that, a girl ready in seconds. Gwin raised the glass to her lips for a final swig and smiled as he bustled back into the room looking absolutely… ridiculous, but cute too. “mmm, keep the sailors hat, I love a man in uniform.” She giggled walking to the door and flicking it with a finger.

Remi tipped the hat in question at Gwin. "Aye-aye, Captain," he crooned, walking out with her. "Where to? I haven't been here long enough to know the dancing hotspots, so to say, but we're stylish enough to get in just about anywhere, I'd reckon." Bounding slightly ahead, since Remi was always full of twitchy energy, like a sprung unsprung, he flicked his tail as he glanced back at her.
"I mean, we could go to the dance classroom, I guess, but that just seems too predictable for a fine pair of adventurers such as ourselves."

Gwin laughed, shaking her head. “Of course not the dance room. In the Plaza there’s the Karioke bar, the club and a sushi bar with dancing. Your pick love.”
Skipping forward she upturned her face to the old hallway, glad to finally be getting out. She had spent all day here, and for Gwin, all day in one building always equaled no fun. A young couple she had taken under her wing for the week was occupying her usual haunt.
“I cant wait to see all the people out tonight, there must be plenty!”

Remi didn't hesitate. "Karaoke!" he exclaimed. "After all, we can't let good old OU down, right?" As for letting the University down, it could be argued that he had let it down a tad when he had vanished for a year. However, Remi lived in the present, so such issues were irrelevant.
He stepped outside the University gates and took a breath of fresh air before cursing under his breath. He had forgotten Rupert, and Rupert's bow was his main weapon. He caught himself though, he was getting jumpy after being cooped up in the University for so long. Just because they had left the territory, didn't mean cats were going to jump them, and if they were, Remi's hand to hand combat wasn't that bad.
Not that he'd need it, he reminded himself. Whistling cheerfully, he leaned back and looked at the dusky sky. "Meeting people on Valentine's Day doesn't count as meeting people at all," he said, grinning at her, "They're all couple-y and they don't have eyes for anyone but each other anyway, you know? Cute sometimes, but totally gross other times."

Gwin smiled easily, shaking her head and linking her arm in his. "Yes, but sometimes... Just watching them you can learn about them. Make up stories about how they met... and all that other good stuff." She shook her head and laughed. "Listen to me, im starting to actually sound like a girl.. Perhaps we should go shopping instead."
it was so obviously a joke, but who knew what Remi would think, before he could respond she ran a head, tugging him along for awhile before skipping easily away and doing a few cartwheels, like some unruly sprite. She fell after the third with a burst of random laughter, eyes twinkling.
"Oh remi me lad, you have no idea what you have got yourself into!~ Have you ever heard me sing? It resembles something like of a strangled yowl!~ or so I was told."

"Let me grab my purse." Remi replied affably, flashing her a smirk. "You're right though, I guess. What do you think people would make up about us?" Puffing out his chest, he joked, "I've heard that in the right light I resemble a film star, you know, so it'd have to be pretty glamorous."
He watched her cartwheel, then flicked his nose with his thumb, leaping after her and landing on his hands, walking on them for a few teetering steps before switching back to a more right-side-up way of moving. "If you are, I'll choose to find it charming." he said, waving off her lack of singing ability. "Whoever said you were bad was clearly no judge of talent."
