Chiv flagged her tail in a pleased manner as she looked upon the packs latest prey, wild boars were difficult to hunt - they could be mean and unpredictable but were well worth it taste wise, it would be a welcome change of pace and perhaps provide an opportunity for pack bonding. It had been a while since they had all gathered together and Chivosi wanted the pack to be more then wolves simply sharing the same space - they were supposed to be family and families socialized.

Or at least that was Chivosi's reasoning as she pranced about the boar with a pleased look on her face and rose her voice to the wind to call the pack to her - or at least those who wanted to come.

Corvus opened his eyes, ears twitched a bit as the howl reached them. Standing he stretched his muscles, and gave his body a shake. He had been relaxing a bit before taking his turn on the border patrols later in the day, but it would seem that he would attend to something else before attending to his duties. Well better not laze about when he was being summoned.

Padding in the direction of the howl, Corvus soon came upon Chivosi and a boars carcass. Impressive, boar were extremely difficult to hunt and could cause a lot of harm to the hunter if they decided to fight back. But it would seem this one choose not to as Chivosi seemed in perfect shape. Tipping his head to her as he came to a stop nearby. "Chivosi." He said in a respectful tone.

"Boar, hmm . . . I suspect great feasting indeed," Merrill thought aloud. Behind her she led Derecho and Kayeli, a femme she had found not too far from the YMCA border while on her way back to catch some sleep; Derecho, in the meanwhile, had apparently been practicing his stealth skills. Still, something like boar would be tasty, enough for even the beta to break her daily schedule to attend to. Not to mention it would be nice to have everyone (or almost everyone) gathered about in order to exchange news and stories. Most certainly she was expectant to hear what Menelaus, Tempeste, and Raiden had to say on the matter of their journey, if they appeared tonight.

"This way," she said, more for Kayeli of course than Derecho, as she heard Chivosi's howl and directed them in that direction. "That would be one of the alphas summoning us. You might be new, but we welcome travelers to our meetings nonetheless." She could scent Corvus was already there, so Si must have only just now started to call them.

As they approached the Y-M-C-A territory, Kayeli's nose took in the unfamiliar scents. There were certainly a number of wolves there, and for a moment she hesitated, uncertain of her reception. Although Merrill had reassured her with her words, she still felt slightly apprehensive due to her lapse of memory and the fear that something could cause it to reoccur. That or some gesture, some phrase could be the key to unlocking the torment which plagued her nightmares that she could not grasp at all once awake. The smell of the boar tantalized her sense of smell, her stomach grumbling slightly. Well now she knew for sure she was hungry and just a little embarrassed, for if she could hear it, surely those standing near could as well she thought.

Her head lifted, hers perked as she heard the howl of someone she did not know. Merrill said it was the alphas summoning them, she was inclined to believe her, and so followed the purple one's lead. "That's very nice," she whispered. She thought herself fortunate that Merrill had come upon her, but she didn't really know what to do at that moment since she really didn't know anyone all that well at all. Most she had not even met other than Merrill and Derecho who had traveled with her, Merrill leading her to the territory of the YMCA pack.

Oh to be up and about again, his legs were stiff, muzzle sore and head aching, but the cool air beyond the den he'd been planted in the last few days relieved him of some pains. He'd been held up, his daughter, Tempest, never to far away from him out of his own fears. She wasn't the same anymore though. Her mood was dark all the time and she was to herself more then she used to be. She never even spoke to her favorite brother, Derecho. This worried Menelaus hugely.

But for today, he'd enjoy the feast! He limped towards them, he wanted no attention, but with his head high, muscles still strong and showing, tail risen and eye's always watching, he couldn't very well ignore the attention any other alpha got upon entering. He wandered up to his mate and nosed her cheek, she had been very supportive and had the pack in shape while eh was gone, though is daughter and Raiden had been acting up more then usual.

He barked his hello's then quite down and settled next to his mate. He was happy as any other wolf would be with a plump boar before him.

User Image

Pekko was about ready to ignore the howl, he'd had a bit of a conversation with his beloved Meme that said her obvisou feelings though it wasn't quite over yet. He felt uninvited even with his alpha's welcoming howls. It wasn't until he fond Merrihk huddled away did he decide he'd go. "Cmon Merrihk." He'd spoken to the wolf before briefly, but nothing beyond an aquittance.

Grabbing a hold of the very shy, and crowd hating wolf he lead him and teh wolf to the slowly growing crowd. Pekko immediately pin pointed Meme and Menelaus. They were all he really had to avoid. He hadn't met many others and rather chose not to. He wasn't to happy with how things were going noow, let alone adding in more trouble.

How did I get wrapped into this. The christmas colored wolf pondered, his purple glowing eye's glanced from the vibrant forest green wolf dragging him along to where he'd been laying, he still had his candy treat in mouth and wouldn't let go. He'd adopted it as his best friend and often was caught speaking to it, asking it questions and more often then not he'd get an answer in his head.

"Why, Cane, did I get dragged into this..?" He asked so quiet;y he almost thought it was in his head, but he saw Pekko's ear flick back to listen in, 'Cane' didn't answer him back thankfully, Merrihk didn't want to share his friend. now he was at a feast he didn't want to be at and had no one to be with, in the real reality of it. He looked about for a minute and let his eye's lock on Chivosi, the only owl to really talk to him. He gazed for a moment then glued his eye's to teh ground.

Derecho followed Merrill and Kayeli into the clearing, brushing up against his mother "Found her" He told her before circling about to settle nearby Merrill and the newcomer licking his lips slightly at the smell of the boar, though his eyes scanned the arrivals one at a time - here on earth was his sisters? Tempest especially worried him these days, they hadn't really talked much since she and father had returned and when he did see her she always seemed to angry...or maybe upset. It was hard to tell.

And Aleu? where was she, Derecho had a hard time picturing his limelight loving sister missing out on the chance to sing to nearly the entire pack at once. Derecho frowned and shifted his paws slightly as he considered going to search for them. Grumbling slightly at the inconvenience this would surly cause him Derecho noted Pekko and Corvus arriving from two differant direction.

"Pekko! Corvus"" He called out to them "Have either of you to seen Aleu or Tempest?"

Ki-Adi had been laying not to far behind Chivosi as she called for the others, her brightly colored pelt mostly obscured by the shade of a large tree and some undergrowth. Her eye canned the arrivals but so far no familiar purple pelt had made an appearance her shy confidante had been absent allot lately and while Ki got along well enough with the others she'd always felt closer to Lullaby whom had found her and brought her to the pack in the first place.

Well no point in hiding out here much longer she thought and rising she slunk from her place and skimmed around the outskirts until she came across the striped hide of Merrihk, he was a quiet fellow, not prone to loud noises and sudden movements. Ki-adi liked quiet wolves and so she settled near by him and his strange object.

"Hello" she told him in a quiet voice that was nearly drowned out by Derecho's query a ways over.

Chivosi watched as the wolves she considered her family arrived, they were an odd lot at best, but they had good hearts and Chiv accepted them faults and oddities and all. Returning Mene's nuzzle as he greeted her she gave him a warm look "I'll be right back" She told him before trotting off to make the rounds of those gathered. Chiv liked to make everyone feel welcome and knew that some were feeling a bit out of sort at the moment.

"Corvus" She greeted him a he nodded to her a slight wag of her tail to the brightly colored wolf - almost Pekko's twin though he lacked the darker mask "Make yourself comfortable" She told the green wolf in passing, noting Merrill, Derecho and a newcomer arrive but bypassing them for a moment, wishing to greet the others before turning her attention to introducing herself to the new wolf.

Poor ole Merrihk was looking out of sorts at the gathering, though he had been joined by Ki-adi. "Merrihk" she greeted him softly with a quiet bump to his shoulder before nodding to Ki-adi and giving a soft wag of her tail. "Today will be a nice peaceful day" She told them both to sooth their worries about being in such a group, though Merrihk as far more worried then Ki-adi and YMCA gatherings were hardly the violent event that took place in other packs.

Continuing on her way she nipped playfully at Pekko's ear "Cheer up" she told him as she took in his dour look, adding softly so that the others couldn't hear "No one is angry at you my jade colored friend - Mene as sick and no wolf likes to be confronted when they are ill, think upon your defensive reaction to Merrill when she first found you. You are pack and you are loved as family" She concluded with a shoulder bump before finally making her way back to her place between Mene and Merrill and after another nudge to Mene turned her attention to the purple beta and the new wolf.

"Merrill! I see you had some excitement on your morning stroll" he commented with a slight bob of her head in greeting at the new wolf "Hello there, I'm Chivosi and this" She nudged Menelaus "Is my mate Menalaus, we are the alphas of YMCA"

Her entrance was in fact all by accident, her nose was not working to well at the moment as her brain wandered dutifully to her always working mind. Suddenly she was front and center to the group, eye's cold as stone and muscles stiffened. She gazed to the wolves before her, Father, Meme, Derecho and a few others she didn't care to recognize. "Hello." She said, her voice lacked teh tune it used to carry and the memory of her running off to playfully collect stones to show off to her parents was just a memory.

"I am here Derecho." She said bluntly, her tone became harsh as she answered him. She didn't mean to be here, didn't want to be here, rather she'd be just peachy leaving these lands all together. What was here for her? She grumbled lightly and moved away to replace where Ki-Adi had been laying, the shadows blotting out her already toned pelt.

---

Menelaus just watched, he wasn't up to greeting the others though when eye's met his he nodded and shared a wolf grin before the eye's adverted respectfully from his. He watched Chiv carefully as she moved, as if he worried something. Though he didn't even know what he was worried about and obviously didn't feel like sharing it.

---

Merrihk was in space, the sky was bright and promised nothing, but sunshine and the warmth calmed him. He was still stressed as per usual, but he was able to stay.

Only moments later, after he'd calmed down he scented the female before she was next to him. He didn't look, didn't sniff, did nothing. He couldn't, he was frozen in his spot. Then her voice, like a spell, broke through.

"Hello." He said softly, his voice shallow, he thought very low of himself and was shocked to see the female there, she was in fact gloriously beautiful and he knew, could probably capture any other wolfs eye. It was until Chivosi got there that he became tense. Her loving words and calming smile reassured him this was home.

---

Next was Pekko's turn to be greeted by the ever loving Chivosi. Her words were like doves speaking softly to him and comforting him, his mind melted and reformed to a more carefree setting. He was an adult now though, he told Meme very harshly what he was and he wasn't about to slip up.

"There she is, Derecho." He said, he hadn't been paying to much attention to Derecho's chants, they were friends, he wasn't to close to him, but he offered the little prince what he could.

Hmm . . . The only ones missing now are Raiden, Verse, Aleutian, and Ovian, Merrill thought as many of the other packmembers made themselves known. She nodded to several of them in passing as she took a seat on Chivosi's other side, resisting the urge to lick her lips. What a specimen of boar! Sleep certainly could be warded off and be placed with hunger as the main priority. Still, missing two was noticeable to her, for what was a feast without all of the family?

But two of the males were old enough of course to take care of themselves, so for now the beta waved away thoughts of retrieving them. Verse, though . . . If he did not appear soon, she would certainly leave to go find him. Apparently Aleu had some sort of bickering with him going on . . . "Excitement indeed," Merrill agreed with a little smile to Chivosi. "Si-Son's stalking skills are slowly being summoned." There, now what would Verse call that? Somethign with an "a" . . . alliteration? Problem was that her sentence didn't make much sense. But then, that's what poetry ended up being to her most of the time: uncomprehendably vague.

"I have brought to our meal a newcomer who was nearby, Kayeli. I hope you don't mind the extra mouth, and if so I am more than willing to go forth and procure more t oadd to the meal."

Aleu dashed though the forest after hearing her mothers call. Now that she was a good deal older she was often found a good distance away from the dens, though she still generally asked for her mother's permission before setting off for the day. Today she had been visiting with her close friend Lyra. Ever since the lynx and her mother came to the pack lands their bond had grown stronger every day. Now she spent a good deal of her time with the lynx, though she did make sure to keep up with all her pack related duties and lessons.

Long legs carried her easily, but she kept her pace a bit slower so that Lyra could keep up. Whatever her mother had summoned the pack for, surely she wouldn't mind Lyra coming along. As far as Aleu was concerned Lyra was part of this pack just as much as any of the wolves were. Coming through the trees she slowed to a walk, glancing about at all those who were gathered. Seemed like she was one of the last to arrive. She hummed softly as she circled about, looking for a spot to sit down. Finding a spot near Derecho she took her spot and motioned for Lyra to join her.

User Image

"Will you slow down Aleu!" Lyra called out as she ran after her friend. At least Aleu listened and slowed down a bit. Soon though she found herself where the pack had gathered around the boar. Though she didn't feel like she belonged her she couldn't say no to her friend. If Chiv or the other Alpha asked her to leave, she would, she was merely a guest on their lands and would obey their rules as needed. She nodded to Chiv and then took a spot by Aleu, though she sat a bit back from the wolves.

Kayeli watched as others began to appear from all directions it seemed to her. It had been awhile she believed, since she'd been in the presence of so large a gathering, just that thought squeezing her heart. There was so much she had forgotten, her parents names and faces, whether or not she had any siblings. Her blue eyes flickered over the members of the gathering, noting both alphas seemed to have more natural colors on their pelt. She also saw a Green wolf and one with a candy-cane pattern, interesting.

She watched as Derecho went up to his mother and brushed against her. How lucky to be with ones mother she thought, but did not allow it to bother her to much. Then there appeared a wolf which to her had the colors that might be found on a beach. Then Chivosi came up to her after speaking to everyone else who had appeared. Kayeli lowered her own head in respectful greetings. "Hello," she whispered as Merrill introduced her. She hoped Merrill would not need to be inconvenienced because of her, besides she'd spoken to her so far most of all and so felt more comfortable with her nearby at the moment. Especially when there were so many and it appeared not everyone had yet appeared as her eyes spotted another figure entering the scene.

Another wolf whose colors seemed to be similar to Derecho's and the Alpha's though perhaps in a different pattern. She didn't know any of them however, only having become acquainted with Merrill and Derecho thus far. Then another young female followed by a violet lynx.

Raiden slowed to a walk as he reached the rest of the pack. He had heard his mother's call but had been a little slower in arriving then everyone else it seemed. Was he the last to arrive? Probably. Quietly, he made his way over to his sister Tempest. Ever since she and their father had arrived home she had been different, she had definitely changed. Raiden blamed himself for this change, if he hadn't run, hadn't abandoned them, no. He wasn't going to think about it, not today. Tonight was a night to be happy that everyone was safe in the pack and together again.

Raiden quietly sat down next to Tempest, his shoulder bumping hers a little in brotherly love. He had been fond of his sister before the incident and was still dearly loved her. He just hoped that she still felt the same way, it was hard for him to tell these days.

The summoning of the Alpha call brought Ovian back from his wanderings in the pack territory. He was still unused to the pack, in fact, Ovian had never got quite used to the wolves. They looked friendly, but none were close to him. Some would think it a little depressing, but the dark male was perfectly content. Just.. not joyful.

He quickened his pace as he saw the clearing and sat close to the rest, distancing himself just a bit. Ovian didn't know when to bring himself fully beside someone. Had the male earned his place? Perhaps this would show if he did. The feast meant that the higher wolves would get the first grab and the best meat from the boar. What was left would go to the rest.

Ovian's quiet figure sat there, his eyes flickering from left to right. His throat growled with a pleasing sound and he said quietly, "Hello."

Verse had not been too terribly far away when he heard Chivosi's call, but he'd dawdled for a bit trying to come up with a poem about a frog, frogs it turned out were hard subjects since they didn't move much unless startled and this one didn't seem to be very easily startled. How boring.

Suffice to say the pup then found himself having to hurry in order to get there and not miss out on anything, arriving at the scene from the woods he scooted under Ovian's belly "Sorry night-watcher Ovian!" He called back over his shoulder as he scampered to Merrills side.

Derecho watched as Tempest arrived, her surly tone nothing like the playful pup she used to be, he missed his sister and the fun they had had playing with one another and he gave Tempest a friendly yip in remembrance of those times.

At least he still had one sibling that still felt close to him, and he wagged his tail when Aleu made her appearance, nodding his thanks to Pekko for pointing her out, shifting over slightly to make room for Lyra the lynx and noting Raiden's arrival - at least Raiden and Tempest seemed to get along still he noted dourly, somewhat jealous that Tempest preferred Raiden over him it looked like. Whatever..

"Mom! when can we eat?!"

Ki-Adi thought maybe she'd made a mistake - perhaps this striped wolf just wanted to be left alone, he seemed stressed and out of sort by her presence though that wasn't what she had intended at all but after Chivosi made her rounds he seemed to calm somewhat and so she did too.

"I'm sorry if I'm bugging you" She told the other "You just seemed the nice and quiet sort, I like quiet wolves" She continued in her soft voice "But I can move if you ant me too"

Chivosi surveyed the late arrivals as they showed themselves - Verse scrambling in with typical youthful glee, Aleu with her lynx friend - Chiv was glad the lynx family had decided to stay around , Lyra had proven to be a good friend for Aleu, a good female friend anda role Tempest didn't seem keen to take on.

Tempest and Raiden...those two worried her greatly and a flicker of this worry and sorrow crossed her eyes as she watched the pair slink off to the shadows by themselves, letting out a soft sigh she turned her attention back to Merrill and Kayeli "No of course not Merrill, newcomers are always welcome, you may stay as long as you like Kayeli..we are a large group but friendly.." for the most part anyways she thought to herself as her eyes strayed back to Raiden and Tempest, Derecho's yell being the thing to break her gaze and turning a warm look on her son she chuckled softly to Merrill "If he keeps thinking with his stomach so much he'll need those new found stalking skills now won't he?" She told the purple beta before calling across to her son "In a moment, in a moment" and excusing herself from Merrill and Kayeli with a murmur before rejoining Mene here he lay with a watchful look in his eyes. Two pups and a mate with altered personality - Chiv wasn't sure how to handled that at the moment so she decided to just...deal with it later, turning her attention back to the gathered.

"It seems that most of us are here and so I guess we can start...YMCA is not an old pack, we are relatively new but quite obviously flourishing, the land has been good to us and we've become the home for many a wayward traveler..some have stayed..and some have left again but all were and are welcome. We are glad to have Mene,Tempest and Raiden back amidst us and healthy...and greet Kayeli a newcomer. I hope you will all take this opportunity to welcome her and spend some time getting to know one another."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 24, 2010 9:56 am

Menelaus laid his head down, mind stricken with issues galore. He eye'd his son and daughter as they took to the shadows, he was just as worried as Chiv, but understood a bit more of the why they stayed together and to themselves.

But, now he had to play the role he was born to play. He stood up, a grand old wolf, with a startling new light in his eye's. "As Chiv has said..." He paused, repositioning his standing, tail high, but legs almost to weak to hold him. "We are a mew pack, fresh from the run. We are growing, blossoming like spring flowers themselves in a good season." His mind was full of these quotes, he was proud. "I am glad to be home, with my mate, Chivosi, who has cared for me, and with my litter. I'd like to thank Merrill for helping Chivosi and for all of you, you are the nicest wolves an alpha could have at their side." His pride gleamed as he spoke.

"May our hunts be fruitful, our pups be healthy and our days be bright." He smiled, the first real smile since his return with Tempest. Home was where his heart was, and now that it was back together he was at peace with himself.

---

Tempest listened with half enthusiasm. She had her brother by her side and the pack in her eye's. She wasn't alone, ever. Not when she'd found out that Raiden was indeed alive. She was excited to see him even and could smell the thick scent of jealousy stinking off her brother Derecho. His eye's would have been green she guessed, could they have changed to suit his mood. She sensed his dislike and sadness for the changes his siblings went through but she did nothing to soothe or comfort him, nor would she. Even pulled aside she'd tell him how it was now.

"Father has gained more strength, that's good." She almost smiled, but before it could show it slipped away. Her voice was for Raidens ears only, a whisper between the pair that had started since they found each other again. It was like they were pups again, sharing secrets that really weren't big or important, but was theirs to keep. She kept her shoulder to his now in a loving 'embrace', she needed what he had to offer, support.

She eye's teh pack, spying a darker male, she observes and then her eye's narrow and she gives a playful smile. She had never seen that male before, his pelt intrigued him. Giving the male one more grin, this one inviting Ovian over to sit with the pair, she then rested her eye's onto her brother. She'd not have such a pretty male all by his lonesome.

---

Merrihk gazed, now, at the beautiful wolf sitting next to him and was shocked by her words. "No, no.." He said quickly, voice still rather shaky no matter how hard he fought it. "Don't leave." He smiled the biggest he could, a muscle twitches in his jaw that shows it's unusual to see this smile, it was generally only shared between him and Chiv, whom he had a bit of a friendly bond with.

"It's just not to often that a beautiful wolf, or any wolf for that matter, to choose me over the others. I'm sure I'm not the only quiet wolf." Though as far as he could see he was. That may be the only reason she was talking to him, but he tried not to think about it. "So thank-you." He said sincerely, eye's glowing with happiness beyond their usual purple glow.

"I'm Merrihk." He offered.

---

Pekko, an excitable young oof was quick to be watching Meme. He and her had finished what seemed to be an on going battle now, an exchange of eye's and a tail wag were most that was exchanged that he'd noticed, he stopped trying to find affectionate body language form her when he returned home. His fur was going in all directions and he looked a bit of a mess. Avoiding Merrill's eye's he walked straight up to the female standing with her and gazed to her.

"Hello!" He calls excitedly, he hadn't met most of these wolves being some arrived after he'd left. "My name is Pekko. I'm Merrill's mortal enemy." he gave a playful smile to his friend. Enjoying the fact that he could be so close, but knew he was as far as him to the moon they howled at. "Good day Merill." He smirked then took up a spot near Kayeli to call his own. His tail was wagging happily.

And wouldn't you know it, it seemed like mere minutes after she thought of who was missing that the aforementioned four made their respective ways to the group. Funny how everyone seemed to be split into pairs mostly: Aleutian and Derecho ever close, the purple lynx a strange new addition to Merrill (though she had known that a mother and her daughter had been around for some time); Civosi and Menelaus of course, being the alpha pair; Ki-Adi and Merrihk, neither of which seemed to stand out much in the crowd and apparently sharing this common trait with each other, smiling; Raiden and Tempest, seeming as close as their other siblings were with each other, though the beta caught the enticing look aimed at Ovian and almost snorted. Good luck with that one if you're so intent. Corvus was alone, but then he seemed to prefer it that way, not liking to converse with the younger ones much.

Almost unconsciously, she nuzzle Verse closer.

So in the sea of colors, where did Merrill stand? Kayeli was her "partner" in this, perhaps, as the newcomer seemed a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of wolves there. The most the purple femme could do was give her a reassuring nod, replying to Menelaus, "An honor I enjoy, sir." One of those times she actually deferred to him with the respect his rank deserved - this was very public after all, and Merrill had no need to joke and call him Mene-Pup as she would in a more casual situation.

Though the feast was hardly becoming casual. Pekko had to step him and announce himself teasingly as her "moral enemy", at which Merrill rolled her eyes and sighed. "As he enjoys to be," she added, standing and turning her gaze back to the alpha pair. "It seems that indeed we will need more food for this gathering. Permission to gather a small party and hunt . . . hmm . . . perhaps deer if we can manage?"
