Name: Fenta
Age: 12
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: Baker, specializing currently in dishwashing (XD)
Rank: Apprentice equivalent
History: With her maternal grandmother as Kitchen Co-ordinator, and her mother following the tradition and marrying a Baker, baking is practically in Fenta's blood. The second child and only girl to her two Baker parents, she grew up being tended and cared for in the kitchens. From the moment she was able to walk she was helping wherever she could, doing anything from sampling new stews to helping sweep out the hearths. At the age of ten she was finally promoted to official dishwasher – a noble profession – and she's stayed there ever since. Every so often she migrates to tuber peeler, but her grandmother tries to keep her away from all jobs that would result in her being near any knives. She's safer when she can't cut herself, or so Jali has discovered, and as a result Fenta is rarely allowed to do anything the kitchen staff decides is "dangerous." She can frequently be found running errands or doing trivial jobs for them instead and as such is fairly well known around Ghenza as "the kitchen girl."
Appearance: Plain might be the first thing that comes to mind when people look at Fenta. She's got no exceptional features, everything just sort of hovering around normal, which makes her easy to overlook in a crowd. Her hair is an average brown, her eyes are a dull blue, and there's nothing even particularly remarkable about her build. To make matters worse – or better, from her point of view – she had a habit of wearing the plainest, simplest clothes she can get her hands on, which only make her blend in more. Though on the cusp of puberty, she's certainly not an early bloomer, and has so far retained all of her childish features, which tends to make her look young.
Personality: If you hadn't guessed from her appearance, Fenta likes to blend in. A naturally shy girl, she can very easily get swept away and lost in a place like Ghenza, which is probably the reason she's kept busy in the kitchens. Without proper direction, she's easily distracted, usually by daydreams (though she would never tell a soul what she was thinking about). If she actually opened her mouth to say more than "yes, ma'am", one might be able to discover that she is a highly creative and imaginative individual who dreams of flying. When she was little she spent the majority of her free time drawing dragons in flight, idolizing them as something she wishes she could become. She takes any chance she can get to see a dragonrider, though she's never actually been close enough to a dragon to touch one. Fear keeps her in her place, and she very rarely steps beyond the boundaries she has set out for herself.
One might ask what a girl like Fenta could be afraid of, and the answer is everything, but most prominently, upsetting other people. She hates being in trouble, especially if she's going to get yelled at, and because of this she has a very good memory of what things would get her scolded. It is argued that she knows the rules better than anyone at Ghenza, if only to make sure that she abides by them. Luckily, however, Fenta's life is almost completely run by other people, and as such there isn't much room left for her to stay beyond the rules.
Having been ordered about practically all of her life, Fenta almost completely lacks the ability to make up her own mind. Even if she does have her own viewpoints she tends to keep them to herself, fearing that they may be wrong or inappropriate. To compensate, she frequently says she doesn't have an opinion, or if someone presses her, declares that she would rather do whatever they want. Decision making is hard, and besides her secret dreams to become a dragonrider (or at the very least touch a dragon) Fenta has no other ambitions. She would be content to be a dishwasher her whole life and would be happy in that lifestyle if that was all that she had.
Innocently curious, she likes learning things but is more often than not too afraid to ask people about what they're doing, for fear of interrupting something important. The majority of what she learns she learns by watching other people when she thinks they aren't looking. She has a good memory for what she's seen and heard, and often uses conversations in her stories about dragonriders.
Fenta has a small, secret collection of dragon figurines made of wood and painted to represent different colours. She keeps them hidden under her bed, though occasionally she'll bring a little green one with her whenever she goes out as an item of comfort.
Other: I like puppies too. Is Jali's granddaughter.
