It was about midday when Jouko decided she was way too tired to keep up her galloping pace, even though she'd told herself since the beginning she'd never slow down. She was tired of being known as clumsy and small, so she decided to go on a...pilgrimage of sorts. She was traveling the world as she knew it, and trying to take on anything that stood in her way. She'd already had several close encounters with all different predators, but she'd been lucky so far. She only had a few scratches, that she hoped would go away with time and patience. But now, she was wondering why she had to go so far. Her usual territory was the forest near the beach, now she found herself in the hill that eventually lead to the mountains. The terrain was tougher then she was used to, and she was having a hard time by now.
"I should have listened to Edel...She's done this before..." She sighed, her only close friend, Edel, had plotted out a whole path for her to take, but since Jouko wanted to do this all on her own, she traveled from the path no later then the second day. She finally stopped, breathing heavily she glanced around. This was so pathetic, she'd made it so far, and here she was, planning on possibly turning around. "No..." She thought. "If I go back now, I'll always regret it..." She started at an easy trot toward the mountain, but had to stop when she heard something approaching from behind her.
She whipped her head around in enough time to see the lion, but not in enough time to really guard herself from it. She whinnied and bucked, and the lion retreated for a moment, not without leaving a huge scratch along her side, great...just what she needed to convince herself she didn't need to turn around.
It wasn't over just yet though, she watched the lion circle around her, while she tried to ignore the pain on her left side. She snorted at him, and glared hoping against hope that she could look intimidating. When it lept at her again she kicked it away, and this time, it seemed to get her message and retreated for good. Or so she hoped.
She couldn't worry too much about him now, she needed to get to someone who could help, or somewhere safer to see if she could do anything about her injured side. She hated having to do this, she told herself she'd take care of herself, but she knew there were a few tribes that lived in the hills. She hoped someone was near by when she yelled.
"Is anybody there?" She hoped she could have a little dignity with this...

The stallion had been flying nearby high overhead. He had missed the battle (lest he would have come to her rescue) but had spotted the lion swiftly retreating. He didn't look happy at all, and from the look of his ruffled coat he was probably thwarted by something bigger. . . or in some battle.
Dropping lower, he glided over the treeline of the hills searching for any sign of a scuffle. He just wanted to make sure no one was injured or hurt. . . The mountain lions were particularly fierce and were one of the larger predators of his home land and territory. Not that he was afraid or worried about them, his spiked tail, horn and wings gave him an easy way to take care of them. But there were others were who weren't as fortunate with the defense mechanisms or well trained in battle.
Nocturne was far luckier than most.
Thankfully, the stallion's instinct to check up on a situation was good. His ears pricked as he heard the call of someone . . .something out there that needed aid. Or at least that's what the cry sounded like. Gliding over the tree tops, he spotted a dark figure out near the hills. . . Squinting, he circled overhead a few times, hoping his appearance might not startle the creature in to running. He might LOOK like a kalona but he wasn't. . . .
Ironic that so many dubbed him as such.
"Are you all right? I mean you no harm," he called out, deciding this was indeed the creature he had heard. He dropped to the ground a good fifty feet away, trying not to look intimidating but instnatly assessing the situation. The hoofprints and marks on the ground certainly proved some sort of scuffle had happened. . . . probably with that mountain lion by the looks of the paws.
His gaze then turned up towards Jouko (provided she hadn't bolted). Blood, though not overwhelming, was present on the wind. Someone had gotten hurt. . . but whether it was the mare before him or the lion it was hard to say. Her dark coat, distracting pattern, and adornments made it difficult to discern what was blood and what might be natural markings.

It's a good thing Jouko had called for help, and it was a good thing she'd actually listened to Edel when she'd explained about the herds near the mountains. She knew there had to have been someone around, she just felt a little silly for having to ask for help. She hadn't expected anyone to show up so soon, let alone drop from the sky. She'll admit that she was a little freaked out at first. Edel had told her the story of the kalona skin-walker she'd had to fight on the beach, and for a second she was worried she'd found just another enemy. He claimed he didn't want to harm her, but she was a bit skeptical. However, she was also a little woozy from the scratch on her right hind leg. It wasn't long, but it was deep.
She narrowed her own visible eye at him, still a little wary of him, but he met her gaze and she decided it wouldn't be too bad to get a little help on her journey. "Not really..." Her voice sounded normal to herself, but to anyone else it was probably hard to make out. She was naturally quiet to begin with, but with the shock of this last attack made her even quieter. She shifted to her side a bit, so that he might be able to see where she'd been hurt, but of course, in her state she was even klutzier then usual.
When she shifted to her front hoof, she accidentally stepped on her scarf and stumbled forward with a very surprised squeak. She managed not to fall, but obviously was fairly confused now, and even shaker then before. "I have to apologize, I'm usually not this.....bent out of shape..." She couldn't think of the right words. Just recently she'd begun her training, so she still had a few slip-ups. Like today...

If Nocturne noticed the wariness, the way she narrowed her eyes at him, he shook it off. He was rather used to others shying away from his large and rather intimidating form. He realized he was a mutant and understood that many had every right to be worried about his presence. He had huge leather wings, a spiked tail, had two flickering and glowing orbs and was massive in size.
Only a fool would so swiftly or easily approach. Thankfully, Jouko didn't look to be a fool.
Still, she had enough wit about her to listen and hadn't run screaming blindly in to the woods or hills. In her state she'd only draw more attention to herself and there were other creatures who would take advantage of the wounded. Still, the wound on her leg wasn't long but it certainly was bleeding and would have to be tended. Thankfully, he did inherit some unicorn abilities. Given, he didn't often get to use them, but they were there and he was knowledgeable about such powers that he could at least help her a little bit. Provided she let him approach. Before he could speak though the girl had tripped over her scarft and stumbled forward. Nocturne himself had jerked forward in an attempt to catch her if she fell, but her trip wasn't that bad.
Not yet at any rate.
Hmm. . . . scarfs might not be practical wear for a soquili, but then again, who was Nocturne to judge? He himself was covered in strips of red cloth given to him by Moppet. . . nto the most practical attire either. Tail swishing lightly, he cleared hist throat. "No need to apologize, Miss. You were just attacked by a mountain lion. . . you're wounded and bleeding. Honestly, I'd be surprised if you were cool as a cucumber." Dipping his head in a slight bow, he added, "I'm Nocturne, and if permitted, I might be able to ease some of the pain and heal the wound. This old' thing comes in handy now and again," he added, giving his head a slight upward jerk to indicate the spiral horn that sprouted from it.

Jouko didn't miss his little attempt to help her, even if it wasn't needed. Maybe she could trust him, he'd acted so fast to help that, that he couldn't possibly be lying about want to help her. Then again, no matter how she felt about anyone, she certainly needed some help now. She obviously didn't having any healing blood in her, and she didn't know anyone around who did. In fact, she was very lucky that the huge stallion, only a few feet away now, seemed to have some healing blood.
"Well, if you say you're not going to eat me or anything, I guess....I'm not exactly in the right position to no trust you." She keep her eyes open as well as she could anyway. She took a step forward, a bit hesitant at first, seeing as she found it hard to trust a lot of people period lately, but he didn't exactly have a blood thirty look in his eyes, and he was kinda funny. "Well, My names Jouko....and I suppose I have to thank for...well...whatever it is you're about to do."
She had no idea how unicorn healing worked, she should have found the time to ask Danae about it before she left, but...it just didn't seem important. Why know about something you can't do yourself?

The stallion said nothing as the mare made her comments. He was unsure if they were in jest or if she honestly thought for a second he was going to eat her. It wouldn't surprise him, the latter, at any rate. . . . His appearance often caused others to mistrust him especially as he looked like some monster or beast.
Oh well.
The stranger before him had every reason to be mistrustful due to the fact she'd just been attacked. The only way he could prove his good intentions was to actually heal her and not take a bite of her or something. He honestly was a vegetarian - he didn't even pick at fish though a few of his teeth were rather pointy. Still, giving a little flick of his tail, the stallion quietly approached.
"No thanks necessary," he added softly, focusing on his horn and its abilities. He wasn't a superb healer, thanks to his unicorn blood being rather diluted. But it helped out when he needed it to and Nocturne had made sure he practiced when younger. Besides, his tail often had cut his siblings on accident while very young. Using his horn had been rather handy.
"Hopefully this works," he murmured, more to himself. Lowering his head, he closed his eyes and focused on the little bit of magic granted him. It took a moment, but the edge of the spiral seemed to flicker with a small amount of light. When pressed gently near the wound, relief could quickly be felt. The pain lessened significantly, and the bleeding paused. It was a rather deep wound, so healing the ripped muscle was going to take awhile.
Honestly it was rather hard work keeping so focused. . . It spent some energy in the stallion. A true unicorn could probably much easier heal her than Nocturne, but at least he could patch it up to more of a flesh wound and less a gash. After a few moments, Nocturne blinked and stepped away.
Oof. . . . He shook his head, trying to regain his bearings before looking down at his work. "Well, it's not perfectly healed but . . I hope it feels a little better." The bleeding had stopped and the pain significantly less. "As you might have guessed, I'm far from a purbred unicorn." He smiled a self-deprecating smile but made sure to retreat from Jouko so as to give her some space.
