~Unreleased~
Coterus’s unreleased form is extremely decorative and features a fine white steel blade. Akane can focus his ration reiatsu into it to give its attacks a slight spark but in the end it is just a normal katana. The hilt is extremely decorative and pure black.

~Shikai~
Incantation: "Strike the clouds, Coterus!"
When released into this state, Akane's Zanpakuto can call lightning, either from the sky or from the ground. Anything it touches, being the blade itself or the lightning called because of it, becomes slightly magnetized for a time. While in this state, Raikiri can also shut down nerves if a powerful enough strike is delivered.

Name: Kuro Shingai [Black Terror]
Incantation: "Show them true fear, Kuro Shingai!"
Kuro Shingai can all lightning with ease, however, all of the lightning techniques used will have the apperance of black lightning, far more powerful than all other forms of lightning. Kuro Shingai has full magnetic manipulative abilities and can shut down a person's entire nervous system with a single, powerful strike, either with the Zanpakuto or a bolt of black lightning. While in Bankai, the positive-negative relations between lightning strikes fluctuate so incredibly rapidly that only Akane can keep track of it and successfully use them. All metal within a five hundred foot area, save for his opponent's zanpakuto, will become electrified, capable of delivering a paralyzing shock on instant contact. Akane's speed, agility, and strength will also increase far beyond imagination and he will be able to see faster than 98% of beings alive. He can easily manipulate lightning in several degrees including darkness lightning. Darkness lightning is black and trimmed with crimson and is on a whole new level past ordinary lightning. Darkness lightning goes beyond the rational and normal properties of even black lightning, being able to do things that are unimaginable of, even capable of changing something entirely, and has the ability to destroy a mile wide area. Still, Darkness lightning is tiring on Akane.

Skills:
Akane is also able to fight for an extremely long amount of time. In his normal stage, Akane can fight constantly for 23 hours. While in shikai, Akane can fight constantly for 46 hours. When finally in bankai, Akane can fight for three full days without stopping. At that point, his body forces him to stop.

Abilities:
Akane also seems to be able to read a person's aura better so than most people that claim this ability. He can accurately tell basically what someone has done in the past two days and weather or not the persons in overall evil or overall good. Also, the way he uses lightning is adaptive. Meaning that he can change the majority of lightning's properties to make it more resistant to certain things.

Personality:
Akane is typically friendly but tends to condescend to those under him and shows great respect to those above him. In Battle: Akane is completely and utterly focused on the opponet(s) in the area. He keeps track of where his comrads are, but steers clear of them. However, when angered, his attack become relentless and uncontrolled, causing him to lash out wildly at anything in his sight. Only his Taicho has been able to calm him back down into control, thus explaining why Akane favors his Taicho over all others. Akane answers most people with blunt, straight forward answers, not caring if it angers them or makes them sad. He means what he says and will stand firmly behind any cause he deems worthy. He will follow his Taicho's orders strictly and without fail, no matter the cost.

Biography/History:
A man who knows absolutely nothing about his life before death Akane has only been in the shinigami realm for around 15 years. During that time he has trained diligently to develop he fine manipulation of riatsu and increase is speed. After reaching his limts with his own unguided and unsupervised training Akane set his goal to join the Second Squad of the Gotei 13.

Rank A - Hageshii Dageki ("Furious Shock") Focuses a high amount of lightning reiatsu along the blade and delievers a sudden, powerful electrical surge through the target's body, causing overall numbness.

Hadou #1 - Sho (Thrust) Pushes the target away from the caster.

Hadou #4 – Rank D – Byakurai ("White lightning") Fires a bolt of lightning from the caster's finger. Can be used as a sustained blast by stronger individuals, and it can essentially be made into a huge blade.

~Bakudo~

Bakudou #1 – Rank D – Sai ("Obstruction") This spell is used to paralyze the target. Rukia uses this on Ichigo upon their first meeting.

Bakudo #4 - Hainawa (Crawling Rope) An energy rope entangles the target's arms.

Bakudo #8 - Seki (Repulse) Creates a round shield that seems to temporarily paralyze and repel whatever strikes it.

Bakudo #9 Geki (Strike) Engulfs the target in red light, completely paralyzing them.

Bakudo #9 Horin (Disintegrating Circle) Causes an orange hued tendril with spiraling yellow patterns to erupt from the users hand and attempt to trap a target. the end of it remains in the hands of the user allowing them to control the path of the tendril before and after capture. The Kidō is able to connect with another one of itself if both have captured a target and bind them together.

~Other~

Shikai - Initial Release - B Rank): The first possible stage of release of a zanpakutou. To attain it, one must achieve interaction and synchronization with their zanpakutou.

Flight - B Rank: Simply the power to fly by creating a floor of your Riatsu under your feet. It is usually something most cant do though, and humans almost never figure it out.

Shunpo - Flash Steps - A Rank
A high level Shinigami art that allows the Shinigami to "warp" one's self (entire body) to another place. It requires long training and to be quite powerful to use easily. Some humans have figured out how to use this power but very few.
