It started with a crack conversation between Tamiko-chan and Tahja. Leopards getting wronged by cocky cheetahs, and getting payback mafia-execution style. That little seed led to this, and of course, Ary, a fan of mafia based characters, wanted in on it too! That said:

Welcome to the interest thread for the Sicilian mafia based Leopard/Cheetah coalition! This is a thread to recruit members (Founding and new), but please read the information provided carefully before jumping on board. I've worked very hard over the months to try to make sure that this idea converted as believably as possible. If it's obvious you haven't read the information your application will be turned down, and we'll ask you to try again. Thank you!

So, this is something that I've been working on in the background for Ary and Tam for some months now (Since May/June of 2009), it's not 100% done yet, but since something really similar went up I wanted to post this so it didn't seem like it was just a copy cat of the other idea. ;_; (No one copied! It's just a really huge coincidence.)

Owners: Ary (Boss), Tahja (Prophet), Tamiko-chan (?)

TL;DR - Some Key Points:

First and foremost, this Coalition is NOT a copy of Kuroi'Nera! That is a completely separate concept created by Chi and Velveteen! These two groups, though both mafia based, are completely different, so if ours doesn't suit your fancy then you may want to see what they have to offer since it has a different flavor to it! <3

This Coalition is BASED on the Sicilian mafia. Please read the following disclaimers:

  • We do NOT use Italian IC'ly or OOC'ly. Believe it or not "Familia-a-Upadre" is, according to the Kasumi Project, entirely Swahili!

  • We DID use typical gangster/mafia slang-- however I included it for clarification's sake only. We will be making up our own terms for them in Swahili and such, more than likely.

  • We do NOT want to see a bunch of pinstripe suit colored SOA who talk "Like dis, capiche? Bada bing, bada boom! Get it? Got it? Good." Otherwise you'll be sleepin' with the fishes. Er... I mean, DON'T DO IT. SERIOUSLY. Those applications will be REJECTED on account of the fact that the other coalition members might think their insane and try to kill them to avoid the "CRAZIES" from spreading. It's totally for your SOA's own safety. Uh huh.

  • We DO welcome neighboring prides/coalitions/packs/whatever that may be interested in requesting services from the FaU, or are interested in PLOTTING/WORKING WITH US to create a splinter group that stemmed from the FaU (See below for more info)!

  • We do NOT welcome copycats, hostile neighbors, or splinter groups that are NOT approved.

  • We DO welcome cheetahs and leotahs!

  • We do NOT welcome lions, cheetons, or leopons (Unless it's born into a litter for the sole purpose of creating a new Prophet.), be warned that they will be driven out or in cases of extreme offense killed upon discovery.

• The Coalition exists through what they call controlled-secrecy. Select outsider groups do know of them, but no one on the outside of the Inner-Circle, or the Family knows how the Coalition works or where specifically they live. They know only what services they offer and that they can be contacted through the guards that watch over the forest belt that everyone assumes is their home.

• This Coalition’s history starts with a leopard prowl and a cheetah coalition, and later will include a nomadic leopard prowl as well. They form three separate entities that will come together by circumstance.

• "The Family" is sacred above all else. You do not betray the family in any way. It's a normal, reasonable, peacefully functioning coalition until the omerta (Vow of silence) is broken, for which the consequences will be fatal for the offender and possibly their family.

• Rogue cheetahs, leopards, or Leotah hybrids are allowed to join into their ranks but they are more strict on the joining test/process for male cheetahs, given the Family's history with them. Female cheetahs are taken in with only a little less hesitation, and leopards are generally welcomed with little resistance. Any of these three species are welcome as long as they pass the tests, fit into the family, and are proven not to be a threat.

• Members (Cheetahs, leopards, and Leotah hybrids) are allowed to leave the coalition if they chose, but a secondary vow of silence is taken/taught when they chose to do so. No one is allowed to simply come and go, since it could mean danger to the family and it's secrets. as soon as they're old enough to truly understand and this needs to be accounted for when leaving. "Turncoats" (Traitors who blab about the family in any way to outsiders) will be tracked down and killed. (We have a seer to enforce this IC'ly, which will be the ONLY lion (or lion-hybrid) role within the entire group, and a well kept secret at that.)

• To take into account that Prides/Prowls/Coalitions/Packs' territories are only so large, should the Coalition/Family grow too large the leading three (Boss, second in command/right hand man, and the most trusted advisor,) will seek candidates from within the lesser ranks to form a mini-“Family” to send out into the outside world.

They will select: One male to become the leader (Males only, leopard or cheetah, or POSSIBLY fertile hybrids), a minimum of three and a maximum of six guardians (One of which, if not already, will be promoted to Theluthi/Capo for the journey. Of these guardians one of them will be chosen LATER to become the Tumaini/Second-in-command once territory is established.), and a minimum of one and a maximum of seven females to make up their initial Kawaida/Citizen count.

Any young children, up to the age of juvenile may accompany their parents. Adolescents and adults count towards the group’s maximum allotted total even if they’re related by blood.

This group of 5 to 14 makes up the basic formula for a "Family", and they are expected to carry the laws still as they are still a part of the Family. Once out, however, as long as all follow the code of silence they are free to move on to other aspects of life (or beliefs) if their selected boss so allows it. ((NOTE: There is room for drama here, but it would be preferred if it would be kept to a minimum. Bear in mind that the coalition is home to a seer, so they WILL know if trouble brews and/or someone plans to rat them out. If this becomes a problem, or the secrecy of the coalition EVER becomes an issue we will halt permission for these types of plots.))

===========================================================================================
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Territory: -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===========================================================================================

The Mountain:

Bear with us, I had to take a lot of creative liberty since there isn’t a lot of information readily available about the location of specific landmark types on the mountain.

The coalition makes its home at Mount. Kilimanjaro, more specifically they rule over the forest belt area of it. It’s broken down into three landmarks: The Mountain, the cave system, and the forest.

The mountain, as famously seen in the first scenes of The Lion King, and much more widely known in general in the real world, is the headquarters for this coalition. Specifically they only control part of it, the entire mountain itself is far too vast for them to actually control, but you get the idea.

In these times it contains a fair amount of glacial ice still, which, if you know the relationship between rocks and water, you know has probably eroded away at the mountain over hundreds of years. Deep below its surface is the cave system that makes up one of the primary den and social areas of the coalition. It’s pretty straight forward if you know how to navigate it (The cave system), but there are parts that are off limits to the everyday coalition members. For the most part this area is used for those that prefer to have private nooks for their families.

One must navigate the forest at the foot of the mountain in order to reach the entrance to the caves. If the guards in the forest below let them past then they’ll be permitted up the mountain trail. The entrance is marked by a waterfall supplied by one of the glaciers the mountain is partly famous for.

User Image

The Cave System:

The caverns, as already stated, acts as the primary meeting grounds.

Its pathways, once inside, are kept well lit by gaps in the ceiling where the roof of the caves have fallen in to allow sunlight and moonlight.

There are little caverns within the system that can be used for dens. Everything to the Western half is off limits.

There are three primary water sources (Lounging, drinking, and bathing areas) that the coalition uses.

  • The first public water hole is much less a lounging area and more of a rest stop in the caves. It’s the easiest to find and the first one that members come by on their way into the cave system. As such it can sometimes be a busy spot, but since it’s waters are so shallow (Rain water is its primary source these days, since the flow of glacial water has slowed with a naturally formed dam on the surface, cutting off much of the water coming from the glacier in this area of the mountain.) it’s main purpose is to quench the thirst of those coming in from a long day of play or work. Think of this as the water cooler at the office.

    User Image

  • Further into the cave system, safely tucked deeper into the mountain under an area that, on the surface/above ground, doesn’t support plant life there is an area where parents and nannies gather with their children and charges, primarily an area for the females and their offspring to spend the day while the men (or mothers, in the case of nannies) go about their business. Anyone can come to this water hole, but mostly it’s a gathering place for those with little ones because the water is shallow enough that they won’t drown as long as they’re supervised, but deep enough for a little bit of swimming. Diving is restricted, as it could prove fatal with the rocks lining the bottom of the water. There’s a large hole in the center of the ceiling that illuminates the glacial water. This water is safe to drink, and as a rule it’s meant to be kept clean. Think of this as the public pool.

    User Image

  • Despite the appearance that its waters are shallow the last public water hold is perfectly comfortable for swimming. Typically it’s more of a romantic or secretive meeting spot (Please do not start singing “Blueberry Hill”. NO POINTS FOR YOU.), though, and as it’s further within the cave system it’s too difficult for the youngsters to find alone (And they aren’t brought there by adults.), so it’s usually a must-see stop for adults looking for a little peace and quiet. Think of it as the “Adult swim” hour of the public pool, only it’s open twenty-four-seven.

    User Image

  • Further in, really deep into the territory lies an area that is reserved strictly for the Inner-Circle. Like the public swimming hole it does not support plant life on the surface above it. Due to the still waters it can be difficult and dangerous to navigate, making it the perfect place to meet in secret, and if need be, confuse any opponents. It is strictly off limits to anyone but the Boss, Second in Command, Prophet, or Capos (Only if a capo's presence is requested.).

    User Image

The Forest Belt:

The Rain Forest Belt makes up the perimeter of the coalition. Those that trespass into the coalition territory, which is marked by the forests, find themselves ambushed and slaughtered or mauled and driven away by the leopards guarding the trees before they can get any further. The REALLY lucky ones will get away with only a scare. There are sentries that spend months in the forest belt in order to maintain the appearance that there is nothing there but a leopard prowl guarding its territory, never letting on that there is something far deeper beyond the trees.

===========================================================================================
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Components: -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
===========================================================================================

The Family:

This is the general title for anyone who is a fully accepted member of the coalition. It includes citizens, members of the Inner-Circle, and the (NAME). Slaves (Merchandise) and those on trial are not included in this category.

The Inner-Circle:

This is the general title for anyone in the coalition that is not a citizen, slave (Merchandise), (NAME), or on trial. They range from soldiers to the boss.

The Prophet:

This rank is reserved only for the one acting as the coalition’s seer. His (or her) existence is kept secret from all other members of the coalition, and any other known seers may, consequently, be taken into custody to prevent knowledge of the inner workings of the Inner-Circle from being revealed. He is kept hidden away, usually granted any request or favor that he or she asks, and has a separate living space from all other members of the coalition, only accessible by the higher ups of the Inner-Circle. They often sink into depression after some time due to the forced seclusion. Because the only way to ensure their abilities is to have at least half the genes of a god this rank is always either a lion or a lion hybrid.

The Founding Prowl:

So what is the history of the Familia'a'Upadre? How did they form and HOW did they end up on this road to where they are now? What was the Prowl like in its glory-days?

Well, the FaU started with humble enough roots. They were a small collective of leopards with the same ideals as they have today, but lacking in number and structure. They found the forests and beyond it, the small valley, and then by chance, the cave system. They chose to make home in the forest, using the areas on either side of it only for hunting purposes. They founded the prowl in their family's territory looking for power, protection, and personal wealth. Not wealth in the monetary sense for they had no real care for things that glittered, but for wealth of family and loyalties. They wanted to see their bloodline prosper by whatever means possible within their own moral comfort zone. The prowl grew, naturally, with hard work and dedication, as most do. In time their unique ways of doing business had gotten around by controlled word of mouth. Ten years in and the first generation Family had fully established and asserted itself.

They didn't have religious beliefs, not specific ones. There may be a few gods that the Prowl respected (Loyalty being one of them, obviously. Strength, Unity, gods with domains that they felt they best reflected.) but worshipping was not their style. In life, the three things most important to a male were family, loyalty, and respect, and you couldn't have one without the others, either. The title of family was extended to anyone who was a close friend, or someone who had done a great service for little or no compensation just because they had good morals, so it wasn't uncommon for a single family to have many, many "relatives". A few years after the collective had been living together a particular name became rather well known. He was a powerful influence, building loyalties and doing favors for others, and gradually the air of demanded respect became more apparent with time. By the time he reached adulthood he had quite the following, all but a small, small handful of the Prowl had become "family" to him. It was easy to set himself up as the boss from there; he had the other leopards practically asking him to take the position (by suggestion).

Under the first boss’ (Later known as Mosi, which is Swahili for “First”) rule the Prowl made a set of iron clad commandments, 1-5, and then took on an official new name. They became "Familia-a-Upadre", or "Family of Holy order".

The Family Business:

Slave trade - Main "Natural resource" and "agricultural byproduct". It was once an uncommon practice for members of the Prowl in prominent ranks to have slaves, but trusted ranking members were granted the privilege of breaking slaves in to later be distributed to buyers. From a general underground outsourcing to "custom orders" the Prowl had all bases covered. If a king from a neighboring pride, a pack, prowl, or coalition wanted a specific type or even a specific creature it was the Familia-a-Upadre that they came to. The Familia, kings and queens of the treetops and stealth, were like an elite kidnapping force, and their raw muscle power as expert climbers made it easy to subdue their targets and drag them back, whether it be individually or as a team effort. It didn't take long for them to establish themselves as the "Go-to-guys" of the animal world's black market.

Protection Rackets - There was a time when smaller groups inhabited the territories around their Prowl, and back in the day the Familia-a-Upadre "offered" protection for those groups. Payment for this extortion included everything from hunting bounty to the occasional marriage, if a member of the Family had his eye on a particular female or male from that group. Since the plague though those other groups have also fled, what became of them is unknown. (Note: If you're interested in setting up a group to replace one of their neighbors or even to recreate a group that the FaU can extort, by all means, contact us through the mule or post here, please!)

Wikipedia: Protection Racket
A protection racket is an extortion scheme whereby a powerful entity or individual coerces other less powerful entities or individuals to pay protection money which allegedly serves to purchase protection services against various external threats.

Those who do not buy into the protection plan are often targeted by criminals. These crimes are typically thought to originate from the organization itself. When a person or group refuses to pay for protection, word is put out that they are outside of the local organization's protection (these organizations often exist in the absence of a trusted police force) and that the person or group in question is therefore free game for freelance criminals or the organization itself.

The protection money is typically collected by a "bag man". Although the organization might be particularly coercive in obtaining protection money, it is usually careful to shelter its "mark" from attacks by competitor organizations that similarly attempt to solicit or threaten the targeted individuals or businesses. Disputes between organizations concerning territory consequently arise from two competing organizations attempting to extort from the same "clients".

Black Market - This isn't really the same thing to the FaU as it is to the human world. Because they have a limited array of what's considered "illegal" the black market really only serves three purposes. Commissioned heist jobs for specific items (or creatures), the slave trade, and the purchase or enlistment of special services (Such as having an individual (or group if the job meets certain criteria) killed, or having certain good transported.).

Omertà: the code of silence

Omertà (Or “Sheria-a-Kimya”, as they call it.) is a code of silence that forbids members within their ranks from cooperating at all with outsiders should they be captured. The penalty for transgression is death, and relatives of the turncoat (Traitor) may also be murdered. They also impose this code on the general population, persecuting any regular citizen who aids or communicates the coalition’s ways to outsiders.

===========================================================================================
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Species: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===========================================================================================

The Cheetah Coalition:

The cheetahs’ story is simple. You have two separate groups, a brotherhood of males both unrelated and related, who are looking to form a coalition and claim territory and females; then you also have a sort of sorority, a collection of females, also both unrelated and related, who are looking to find territory to call their own but lack the strength and numbers to make it such. They are by majority of the natural-cheetah mindset, not mating for life, and therefore practicing something of a free-for-all attitude. They strike a bargain with the males upon crossing paths with them.

It is agreed that a symbiotic relationship will be formed, an alliance pure and simple. In exchange for mating privileges and breeding rights the males will act to protect the females and the territory they claim as their own. The females, likewise, will be cooperative. Other than that everyone did their own thing and no further rules or joint beliefs were applied, as long as they didn’t endanger the coalition.

When they came across the recovering territory that belonged to the Prowl, or what was left of it, the male cheetahs-- easily seeing they outnumbered the leopards --were all too happy to jump at the chance to get a little payback for all the bullying they had endured from the species as a whole, effectively punishing those strangers for the transgressions of others before them (Leopards and lions alike). In their racism they drove the leopards from their lands. The females didn't particularly care either way as long as they had their end of the bargain. The coalition of cheetahs flourished considerably. (Who said Cheetahs never prosper? Zazu? STFU.)

The Leopard Prowl:

The Prowl that started it all, technically; they were your standard group (Bearing in mind that in SOA the species often defy the behavioral and social patterns of their REAL counterparts), albeit very large. They had grown very comfortable in their home and had strong ties in community and tradition. Not surprisingly when the plague hit there were those that refused to give up the home that they had known all their lives while others fled, fearing that only death would follow such a devastating purge. Indeed, those that remained behind dwindled with time. Some disbanded later and others died of age or other causes. Few litters came and went in between time as the land slowly, painfully slowly recovered, until finally just as the valley recovered and the first signs of a clean air became apparent the Prowl's numbers were down to three.

Adding insult to injury then, that's when the cheetahs showed up. The three remaining decedents were driven from the heart of their home and forced to live in the forest and hunt on the outside, biding their time resentfully as the cheetah males made life as difficult for the leopards as possible-- at least more difficult than it had to be. In all fairness, the males were in large part only living up to their end of the bargain, and that could have been excused with females and families to care for and protect-- that could be respected by the leopards, family was sacred after all… but the day the cheetah males attacked one of the three unprovoked, by ambush no less, leaving her blind in one eye and badly injured, the line was officially crossed. When the trio came across a nomadic prowl they struck up a tentative friendship which quickly turned to an alliance of their own. A plan was made that when they had the proper numbers back they would take back their land and drive out the coalition, and those of the once nomadic prowl that willed it were welcome to stay in return. Only as time went on and generations of litters grew did they begin to realize that as bitter as they were towards their tormentors, taking it out on the innocent women and children in this instance was unacceptable, it would make them hypocrites, and they had more honor than that. They'd be no better than the cheetahs at that point, but still, the lesson needed to be driven home. Once they had a definite compromise they began to recruit.

As their numbers recovered it was not quite the same as before. The leopards spread their new numbers along as much of the forest belt as they could, ready to put their plan into action.

The cheetahs, meanwhile, had not gone unaware of this. They could smell the larger numbers and knew that they were in trouble. Many of the offending males tried to flee while the getting was good. They never did make it beyond the trees. Those that had proven harmless were driven back into the lands, simply forced to stay as the leopards had been forced to stay out for years.

Over time they dealt with the rest like this as well. The process was ruthless, true, but they were careful in who suffered their wrath. Pregnant females and children were never victims.

When at last the last cub was birthed and weaned, and with that the last upstart female sent away the leopards gathered the remaining cheetahs, mostly females and their cubs, juveniles, and adolescents (Some males among them) in the valley and explained that they were implementing a new order.

First of all, the Prowl-- no, Coalition now --was family, and that according to their own old beliefs family was everything, thus the Family of the Coalition would be considered sacred.

Furthermore, since they had driven off the females protection they would now act as their protectors and keepers in their stead, but on the sole condition that they took on a vow of silence and did not leave (or in other words, betray) the Family. They shared the laws and commandments that they (The leopards) had created together and declared that the remaining cheetahs would now also be included in this.

Of those rules are the following:

• Females and children of the Family are to be respected in general and protected, not mistreated. Because there are no "Outsiders" within the family this applies to all those under the Family's care, rather than just wives in specific. However, females that are not married and misbehave or break the Family's lesser laws can find and will find themselves sent over into the "business end" of the slave trade.

• Wives (Because they will practice marriage as one of the Prowl's original traditions.) are to be especially/highly respected and looked after. Wives cannot be sold as slaves, even if they act out, but they are still subject to the Family Laws and situations involving wives will be taken directly to the boss for handling. Usually this will involve punishing a relative of the wife's (but not the husband, unless he too is guilty in the situation) such as a brother, father, close friend, or in extreme cases female relatives or friends. Exceptions to this will result when it is clear that the female does not care for those around her, but only herself. She is subject to her own punishment then. Children are considered innocent of their parents’ sins until adolescence in all cases involving the Family.

• Do not covet, touch, or attempt to seduce another male's wife.

• Always being available for The Family, (NAME) is a duty - even if your wife (or mate) is about to give birth. If you're called and you do not show up for any reason there will be dire consequences.

• When asked for any information by anyone NOT within a citizen’s role, the answer must be the truth.

• Scheduled events or gatherings must absolutely be respected.

• Outsiders may only be permitted if they can pass all trials.

• No one can introduce himself directly to another of the Inner-Circle (When seeking a favor). There must be a third person to do it.

• Those who can't be part of The Family include: Anyone who has a close relationship with their enemies, anyone with a two-timing relative in their (The applicant's) family, anyone who behaves badly by the Family's laws and doesn't hold to moral values.

• Those that cannot be a part of the Inner-Circle include: Anyone with any of the previous conditions, anyone who does not pass the third trial, anyone who the boss does not approve of, and anyone who the (NAME), upon being consulted, deems to be untrustworthy and a threat to the Family.

Please note that all other “common sense” rules do also apply (Referring to god-mod’s of any kind, rule breakers, personalities that go completely against the grain in a way that causes conflict, kidnapping, and attempted escapes.).

===========================================================================================
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Timelines: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===========================================================================================

The Timeline:

The following is a very rough timeline of the sequence of events. This timeline spans about eight or nine decades-- or 80-90 years, given the lifespan of natural predators and the recovery time of roughly 10-40 years. This Coalition/Prowl's timeline is numerically as follows:

Prowl's Founding Days 30> Plague Devastates Prowl 60> Recovery 65> Cheetahs move in 75> "The Family" laws are written 80>

Leopards purge the coalition 82> The last of the problem cheetahs are dealt with 83> The Coalition begins to fully function 85> They begin to accept rogues

The Timeline (Summary):

First 30 years all is well, then the plague hits, 60 years after the founding date the plague fully disperses from the valley, five years later the cheetahs show up. At 75 years from the founding of the prowl the leopards begin to pull the prowl back together with the help of outsider leopards and then the remaining three write up the Family Laws/commandments. Five years later they have also plotted everything out and are ready to move in, they completely trap the cheetahs into the territory and begin purging the territory of the Trouble-makers/causers. Two years later they've booted out the very last of the trouble makers (any females who were pregnant and needed time to birth and wean cubs before leaving), and finally filled in the remainder of how things would work from now on/explained that they weren't going to become the horrible, terrifying rulers that the trouble-makers (Now deceased or driven out) were forced to believe they were (Basically: We're going to protect and take care of you, not kill you. You obey our commandments and you're free to go on like normal.). At 85 years from the date of the prowl’s original founding things are flowing smoothly, and they begin taking in the first rogues (Aside from the leopards recruited to help reclaim the Prowl lands).

85 years from the original prowl marks the present day.

===========================================================================================
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Ranks: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===========================================================================================

NOTE: First it should noted that the coalition is slightly gender biased. Females can hold almost any rank that males can, but it's very, very rare, and it simply does not happen with female cheetahs. Some leotah females may be able to take a rank other than Kawaida, simply because their inability to produce children prevents them from being a liability, and some display the best traits of both species. A leotah female would have an easier time moving up the ranks than a female leopard. That does not mean a bunch of them will be accepted into higher ranks, especially not starting off. If there are any females in ranks other than Citizen they will be given away via "Pride contest".

The Boss - Rasi:

This rank is for the public/IC leader. He controls the Inner-Circle.

The Second In Command - Tumaini:

This rank belongs to the second public/IC leader. He carries out the boss’ orders.

The Prophet - Rasuli:

This rank belongs to the Prophet/OOC leader. S/he is the acting seer that provides the Inner-Circle with the information they need to keep things running smoothly and securely.

The Heir - Teuli:

This rank goes to the chosen successor of the boss. They are acknowledged as the __th boss, or the “next generation” boss until they are instated. They are subject to attempted murders/assassinations by jealous siblings or other eligible heirs, even those who wish to see a different specific person take the role.

The Capo - Theluthi:

This rank is sort of like the “head goon”, he is put in charge of a given number of soldiers, that number is decided based on how capable they are, or are not. Capos will be put in charge of any jobs that require venturing outside of the coalition. Capos may be chosen to oversee the guards at the forest belt at any given time.

The Soldier - Robo:

The soldiers are the “goons”, though this is strictly a basic term. They are far from stupid or incapable; they are simply at the bottom of the Inner-Circle’s ranks. Soldiers act as guards, hunters, and captors, working under the Capos to complete jobs for the coalition. Soldiers are the second and last rank allowed to go into the outside world to perform important tasks. Soldiers may be chosen to guard the forest belt at any given time.

The Citizens - Kawaida:

This rank is given to anyone who is not a member of the Inner-Circle, no matter what role they play. It may include wives, kept women, hunters, nannies, adolescents, and children.

NOTE: Kept women are girlfriends, or possibly mistresses, females that the male has no real attachment to beyond physical attraction: These females who are not married to a male but are being taken care of in exchange for mating rights. Kind of like a trophy girlfriend. Eventually the male will either leave them to find a proper wife or are expected to make them proper wives/marry them at some point. Any children they have together are not permitted to climb any higher in rank than Soldier otherwise.

The Merchandise - Milki:

This rank goes to any living creature, familiar or otherwise, who is captured or being held as a slave. They have no basic rights, but typically are treated well and the guards that watch them are restricted from doing permanent damage if possible. At this time we are notaccepting Milki/slaves.

===========================================================================================
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Joining Process: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===========================================================================================

The Basics - Need to Know:

On gender: No females may hold rank higher than Citizen or Slave at this time.

On species: No lions or lion-hybrids at this time. We will also not be accepting very many male cheetahs at this time.

On color: They have no preference for coloration, but please do not apply for your NEON COLORED Anne Frank SOA to have a STEALTHY rank or a rank that requires they not be noticed. You will be rejected for that job and directed to something more suitable. Please also: we do request that we don't see a flood of clothing-painted "goons" flooding in. See the "TL;DR" post for reasons why. Yeah, we're serious.

On breeding: Have at it! Keep in mind that if your female doesn't marry the father her children will NOT be allowed any rank higher than soldier. If breeding out of wedlock becomes an epidemic actions WILL be taken, so please keep this to as much of a minimum as possible?

On ranks: At this time the only ranks that are open are Theluthi (Capo), Robo (Soldier), and Kawaidi (Citizen). Once we have a good base of these then we may open Milki (Slave) ranks.

I hope it's okay for me to apply. I have a leopard I got in the ss over christmas and he needs a place to go and this idea is so interesting!

Are you talkin' to me? Are YOU talkin' to ME?!

SOA: Sirius
User Image
Owner: syrius lionwing
Desired Rank: Capo

If adolescent or younger, what rank will you grow into?:
Give us a little bit of history: I'd like him to be an existing member. Knowing of the history of the prowl, Sirius is loyal to the 'boss' and has spent years trying to climb the proverbial ambition ladder. Unrelated the the last three of the old prowl, Sirius is a direct descendant of the nomadic prowl that helped to sort out the cheetahs, born and raised in the new coalition, Sirius knows his place and likes it but has been trying to become a more successful member of the coalition over the years. (sorry this is sort of short, but I would love to discuss his history some more and perhaps expand on him being related to the nomads/ his place in the coalition, I don't want to stand on any toes so I hope this little 'general' blurb will do for the moment.)
How about a personality: Sirius is a quiet sort of guy, rather than being an out spoken wise guy, he watches and listens and ultimately obeys, though when he decides to speak against something, he is usually listened to because there is normally a very reason for his speaking against something.

Why should your SOA be allowed to join the Family?: I would like him to be an original member (descended from the nomads). Sirius will be loyal to the big boss and will obey orders sent down to him. However he will also be able to think for himself and would hopefully be a respected member of the family capable of controlling his soldiers.
Answer one (or all) of the following: What is Sheria-a-Kimya? How did the first boss get his rank? Do we allow lion-leopard hybrids? Howmuchwoodcouldawoodchuckchuckifawoodchuckcouldchuckwood?

The Code of Silence
by building loyalties and doing favours he became 'family' to all but a mere few of the prowl and became the first boss (Mosi)
Only in the position of seer if they are child of a god.

Sorry for not posting sooner, working behind the scenes with Ary (Besides the TDL I'm cutting through).

Okay, slight change of plans. For the time being we're going to only be taking applications for civilian and soldier ranks, just because we need those before we can even start looking at possible capos. It's a rank that we'll need to determine with-- not only OOC qualifications, but IC ones as well. This means it'll probably be a rank that will be "earned" with RP.

Syr, Sirius will be able to apply for the rank once it's open later though, and there will be multiple slots (Depending on how many soldiers we end up with there may be a lot of capos or only a few) so you'll have a chance to go for it still, and we will keep in mind that you're interested in the rank. If the soldier rank is okay, consider him accepted!

We're also going to keep an eye on all "Existing member" concepts once RP starts up, just so we can help people get settled and make sure everyone is getting the history and everyday-life stuff straight. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them here in this thread (Easier to keep track of.)!
