Her first day of boarder guarding was a nervous one. She had never been this close to the rogue land before, and was simply told to "Keep strangers out with whatever means nessisary."

Most of the lions in her pride where strangers to her- how exactly was she to know if someone didn't belong here?

"Green in the trees, the wind has such a breeze, please oh please leave me be." She sung a song she had made up off the top of her head while she paced back and forth. It didn't make much sense to anyone who might be listening, but to hear the message was clear: She hoped that today would be an uneventful day so she wouldn't have to worry about chasing anyone off by accident.

User ImageNeila had gotten lost deep in the jungle- her persuer had spotted her in the grass earlier in the day, so she started running in the oppisit direction not knowing exactly where she was headed. It was a loud jungle- so much abient noise filled the air, it made it hard for her to conentrate on who or what might be around.

"How did I get into this mess" She mumbled, her pelt made her stand out like a sore thumb against the vibrant greens of the area. That male must be miles away from where she was, but her struggle now was to find her way out of this maze.

She looked out infront of her, everything looked the same... well, except for that moving plant.

Neila's eyes widened when she realized that moving plant was infact another lionness. She looked as though she lived in this place, maybe she would be able to help her find her way out.

"Hey Greenie, do you know your way around these parts?"

Daunas hair raised up, that voice didn't sound fammilar.. who was calling out to her?

"Hault! Do not come any closer!" She roared, trying to sound as confident as she could. As she turned around to face the invaider, she was met with a white lionness with beautiful pink stripes.

"Wow, I love your markings!" The Green female pounced towards the stranger. "Too bad about all that white and tan, I'm guessing your of a low-rank?" Her tail swayed back and forth, forgetting her duties and not asking once if this female was even apart of the pride or not.

"Excuse me? Your one to talk, Greenie." Neila stared at the lioness infront of her with much confusion written all over her face... what was going on? When she had first called out to her, she was acting agressively. And now she was complimenting her fur and instuling her in the same breath.

"I don't know what your talking about, I just need some help." Her ears folded back in an attempt to look as pitiful as she could.

"You see, I have a male who fancys me quite a bit, but I don't like him. He won't leave me alone, and while running away from him I ended up getting lost in this Jungle. Is there any way you can help me get out this place and back into the grass?"

Sure it was another female she was talking to, but her pitty act has worked wonders in the past- Even with other species of cats. Her only hope was that her acting skills wouldn't let her down.

"That's so Romant-... I mean, so Horrible."

Dauna's ears folded back as her eyes watered up. This poor creature, even with a rather dule pelt, minus the pink, someone still wanted her. She wanted to tell her that this female really shouldn't let this male go, but maybe there was more to this story than she knew.

"I don't know how much I can help you, this is my first time on guard duty you see. I've never been this far out of the jungle before in my life, I'm not entirely sure where this grassland you speak of is at." Dauna felt like she should be more of a help, she was always taught that the females of the pride had to stick together, and even if this pink girl wasn't a member, she felt a sense of duty to do what she could.

"Look... Maybe I can help you after all." She looked down at the leaves covering the ground they stepped on. "My hope is in that direction, so I guess if we keep going in the oppisit direction we'd have to find "Grassland"" She spoke of it as if it was some kind of novelty. Dauna nodded her head in the direction they would be travling, and after taking a few steps foward looked back her her post. "I don't think anyone will try and sneak in.. I should be good for awhile."

Perfect, it worked.

Even if this lionness had no idea where she was going, at least Neila knew she wouldn't be found by herself if that male somehow tracked her down.

"Thank you so much. You jungle lions must be something else to help out like this." She continued to suck up, it wasn't in her nature at all, but Neila did what she had to do to get the job done.

"So, your pride.. what's it like living here? They must be low on men if they have such a young kid like you guarding the boarders." The female looked around, and with a companion of sorts with her, the jungle wasn't as frightening as she had feared only a couple of moments before.

"Yeah... I guess." Dauna realized that she was risking a lot by helping this lioness out, but she didn't want to risk her wandering off and running into another guard of scout of the pride that wouldn't greet her with the friendliness she had.

"Males? We have lots and lots of males, but it is our job to protect them." The green lioness made her way further and further from her post. "In my pride, us ladies who do most of the work. They do take care of cubs though, when we need them to."

Dauna seemed rather lax while the two were on the move, but she intentionally rubbed against large leafs in their path so she wouldn't get lost trying to find her way back home.. she was the first to admit her sense of direction wasn't the best.

"Are you... serious? I wish I had a whipped male to take care of cubs" The pink female realized that she hadn't stumbled upon your average pride. "That's really incredible I suppose, Though I'd make them guard my territory and catch me food as well." She laughed, almost drifting into dreamland at the idea of such a life. She turned to look at the other female to get a closer look at her.

"So uh.. what's with bright pelt? Was your dad green, and your mom just accidently bump into him and BAM! you where born?" She was so blinding bright, there was no way she could imagine two lions creating something like that on purpose.

Dauna stopped in her tracks hearing what this other female said to her.

"What.. do you mean by that?" The look on her face was that of hurt, she had never ran into anyone who had said bad things about her coat before. "Sure I have a tiny bit of white on my coat.. but they are just accents! I'll have you know I'm of pretty high rank. Maybe not as high as my sister or mom, but it's respectable!"

It took quite a bit to get this lioness upset, but she wasn't about to take what this stranger said.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 17, 2010 8:17 pm

"Woah woah, chill out Greenie." She let out a huff, what was this girls problem?

"And I think the white on your coat looks fine. It's the bright green that I was talking about. Don't you find it strange that your coat is so much brighter than most other lions?" Neila kept walking, she was starting to get impatient and didn't want this dragging on longer than she needed.

"Come on! Lets pick up the pace, it's starting to get dark and I don't want to get stuck in this creepy place at night." She shivered a bit while looking around, the landscape around her seemed more exaggerted the less light was shinning thru the canopy.

"The green on my coat?" Dauna stared at the strange female, she didn't seem to apply much logic to her questions.

"Why yes, there are not many lions that have as bright of a coats as I- but I'm very thankful about that every day." She spoke in a content voice. "The white on my coat is a minor detail, I'm working very hard in this life so that maybe I'll lose that white all together in my next life."

Dauna struggled to keep up with the pace this female wanted her to go. She didn't have to travel very long distances, so she moved at a more lax pace most of the time.

"Wait for meee, I'm the one who's suppose to be escorting you." Her voice getting more winning.

Neila listened uncharacteristly quietly to the green female rave about her coat. She came to the understanding that maybe it wasn't so surprising that a lion living around all this green would take pride in a vibrant coat and as she continued talking realized that it had something to do with the prides beliefs.

Being a rogue, Nelia ran into a lot of beliefs- all very different from each other from pride to pride. She never really found any of them in the least bit tempting, but that wasn't to say that she didn't want something to believe in.. she just hadn't found a pride that convinced her fully. The notion that your coat color has anything to do with your past life always seemed the silliest of all, but "greenie" ask she called her was fully convinced her blinding coat was a blessing.

"After looking at you a bit, I guess your coat does look beautiful with the jungle as a backdrop." The female smiled, trying to explain herself. "You would stick out like a sore thumb in the grasslands though."

Dauna's eyes grew big as the other female finally complimented her coat. "You.. you really think so?" She started to quicken her pace, almost trotting along the ground.

"Well I'll never have to worry about what my color looks like outside this Jungle- this is where I want to be forever." Still moving along quickly, the female looked up at the sky- they where losing light fast, and if anything she was more worried about getting back before anyone noticed she had abandoned her post.

"I can't... imagine, these "grasslands" being that much further from here." She said huffing and puffing.

Neila let out a giggle at how giddy her words made her friend. She was moving much faster now, so Neila proceeded to quicken her pace appropriately. "This is what I'm talking about!" To make things interesting, she decided to challenge the other female, to see how fast she could really push her.

"Try to keep up greenie, the faster we get to the grasslands the faster you can get back to your pride and show off that beautiful coat!" The light colored lioness darted off ahead hoping that this jungle dweller would follow her lead. It -seemed- as though the foliage of the forest while still thick, was thining- Neila could just smell the sweet sent of the open fields.

"I.. I think we're almost there!" She yelled out behind her, also starting to struggle to catch her breath.

This was more exercise than the lazy Jungle lion had bargained for. When the other female darted off ahead of her though, she felt this sense of competition , and almost instinctively started to race after her.

Her tail whipping behind her, she skillfully darted along, dodging the roots and other scrubs that could trip her up. If her family would have seen her now, they probably wouldn't of believed it was Dauna.

The female infront of her suddenly was out of sight, with one last burst of speed, she pushed forward right into a thick batch of branches and leaves. When she reappeared on the other side, she saw for the first time in her life- grasslands. It was so fast and empty, she couldn't believe what she was seeing was read. She looked around silently, there seemed to be almost a line dividing her home from the land that rogues wandered.

"Well..." She spoked, still in awe. "I guess this is where we say goodbye." Her ears folded back, somewhat withdrawing half of her body back into the leafs behind her.
