Yet another escape accomplished by yours truly, Nana. She had snuck away from her parents yet again. She couldn't help but go out and explore her surroundings. It was almost like an impulse, she had to go out an do it. Why? She didn't even know. But what she did know, what her parents definitely couldn't find out about it. Especially her father. But he was in the sky right now. He shown like a bright star in the night sky and he flew up there. So he wouldn't be back for a while. And her mom, well, we'll just say she was very tired after today. She had to rest and wouldn't notice that Nana had wonder off, AGAIN.

This time, she decided to explore the tall grass just outside the forest she stayed in. She had seen pretty much every inch of the forest, time for something new. The grass was fairly tall, just about as tall as she was. In the night it looked fairly dark. But with Nana wondering through the maze of grass, the moon light liked to make her silver shimmer. Which probably wasn't a good thing, for those out there looking for a little snack. Nana knew what was out there though, she knew about danger. And she knew that others might be attracted to shimmering things, just like she was. But she didn't bother to be cautious about it. Whatever happens, happens.

"Hmm, it's pretty quiet. Not even the wind wants to sing tonight.." She mumbled to herself.

And of course, with her parents blood running through her, she unknowingly began to hum. Easing the silence, her angelic hum began to trail over the tall grass. Making those whom might be around her feel more welcomed, instead of threatening. Even if she isn't fond of strangers.

Night. Night was the time of dreams and contemplations as Isabliss would say, but to Wystan, every moment was one of contemplation and dreams where just figments of the imagination that caused many to lose their grasp on the world around them. You need to work for what you get, not close your eyes and wish for it to come true. The young foal smiled to himself, again glad that his mother could not read his mind, or she would have rebuked him for such thoughts. His dark colors blended into the night, only the gold of his wings could be seen in the pale moon light. He looked up at the sky and saw the brilliant shinning stars, ‘what makes them shine so bright?’ so many more questions ran through his head and he wished (even though he did not believe it would come true) that a Soquili would appear and he could ask them about the stars above and the meaning behind them.

In the far off distance the moon’s light reflected off something causing strange flickering in the night. Intrigued the little foal walked silently, not wanting to frighten the sparkly thing and causing it to run away, ‘maybe it knew about the stars?’. He started to get closer and the thing turned into a young foal like himself, except it was a she and her wings where different than his. To let her know that he was approaching, Wys mad noise by causing a stick to snap beneath his hoof and he said with a very soft voice, “Hi there. Sorry if I surprised you. Sneaking up on people is a bad habit of mine. Why are you out here so late?”

He turned his head to the side and watched her at the same time he observed the surrounding area. The moon caused the trees to look eerie as they cast moon shadows on the two little foals, crickets chirped and the wind was silent for once; the world was sleeping.

The moon had revealed Nana's presence. Someone had found her, she knew before they would make her aware of it. She embraced herself just before the would come. Again, a stranger found her. It seemed like every time she was away from her parents someone would. Yet, when she was with them, no one would find them. How does that even happen? she rolled her eyes at the thought. She wasn't to comfortable with meeting new Soq. They made her nervous sometimes. But, she would get used to them being around eventually. If she found them interesting anyway.

And there it was, a snap of a twig. She turned to see a young foal... A colt like herself. Her eyes widened a bit, she hadn't see a Soq like him before. He had two sets of wings... Her father and her brother both had one set, like herself. How did he had two? Not only that but a set behind his ears and back legs. Who was this odd colt? She wanted to know, yet she didn't at the same time.

"Umm, n-no. I knew you were coming..." She mumbled. Her mind answered him the way she wanted to. But her actual answer, could be helped. "I, umm, I live around here.. Why are YOU out here? I've never seen y-you around here." She again quietly mumbled, trying to seem intimidating.. It didn't work at all...

Wystan smiled at the filly, “How did you know I was coming? I tried to be as quiet as possible until the last moment… did I make another sound?” He made a strange face as he contemplated this information; he needed to practice his sleuthing skills it seemed, if the young foal standing in front of him knew of his coming before he broke the twig. He tore himself from his inner musings to look at the foal with the strange wings that were unlike those of his family, “Oh that must be nice. So you know all about this place I’m guessing? Could you tell me what it is called? I am not from around here, as you can probably guess; my mother promotes wandering. She sent me away to wander tonight and to learn all that I can.”

She seemed nervous around him and Wystan did not want that to be so, since if she was nervous, there was a higher chance she would leave and he would have all his questions unanswered. That was something he definitely did not want to happen. Hmm, maybe if we exchanged names she would be as nervous?

“I’m Wystan, but you can call me Wys for short. What’s your name?” He stopped talking for a second, noticing in the faint moon light the shape of a crescent moon on her chest, he gave a small smile to himself, “Do you like stars?”

It was simple, how she knew he was coming. The ground told her so. Her mother was very inclined with this particular forest. She has lived her all her life, for all Nana knew anyway. She felt the forest, and helps it grow. Nana and her family lived right in the middle of the forest, where the largest tree resided. Though Nana was of the sky like her father, it didn't mean she would learn what her mother had to teach her. Being in tune with the forest, and all life around you is a great advantage to have. That's what her father said anyway. So that is what she believed. But she wouldn't go into detail with the foal. She wouldn't dare.

"I felt your... Your steps under my hooves." She shied away, looking to the ground. "And we're in the forest.."

She found it interesting how her parents wished she would stay close to them. But, his, his wanted him to wonder and learn all he could. I suppose not all parents are as protective as I thought... She wished her parents were more like that. More less protective. But at the same time she did, deep down, appreciated that they tried to keep her safe... But being suffocated as a foal could only lead to trouble as an adult... Well, if you weren't smart that is. Nana's mind was quite the know it all.

Nana's eyes shifted up to him, when he mentioned his name. She wasn't going to be rude, even if she didn't like strangers. Her parents taught her better then that. "I'm Nana." Then with the mention of the stars, she looked up to the sky with a slight smile. "I love the stars." she slightly mumbled.

Her reply left Wystan even more confused than when he first asked her how she knew he was coming. What did she mean ‘I felt your steps under my hooves’? He was not that clumsy of a walker, he actually prided himself with his silent walk that was able to sneak up on singing birds. And what did the forest have to do with it? “What do you mean? How is that possible?” He was incredibly curious and he would not leave until he got an answer that pleased him.

It was happening again, he would ask questions that made those he was asking uncomfortable, but he did not even knew he was doing it, because it was all for the pursuit of knowledge and he needed it drilled into his thick head that not every Soquili he ran into is like him and willing to divulge their life story to strangers. He still had a lot to learn about etiquette, but he was slowly getting there. Slowly. Perhaps by the time he is fully grown he will have learned a thing or two about being polite, but that was only a small hope at the moment.

She had started to mumble, that was a bad sign, to Wystan that meant that she would rather be anywhere else besides here talking to him. His mind quickly went into gear, trying to figure out a conversation that would keep the filly chatting. “That is a lovely name. Does it have a meaning?” He watched her closely as she gazed up at the stars with a small smile, yes he had found something that would make her stay and have a conversation with him “Do you have a favorite star? I don’t know much about them, do you think you can tell me about them? I would love to hear what you have to say.”

Of course the colt didn't understand. It didn't seem like something anyone would understand. Other then those in her family. She was sure the more she tried to explain it, the more confused he would just get. But she couldn't reject his question. That wouldn't be very polite of her, now would it? No it wouldn't. So, she would have to explain it, even if it was going to be pointless.

"Well... My m-mom has lived in the f-forest all her life. S-she is very connected with the forest... S-she can use the ground itself to h-help tell if someone else is a-around. She taught me h-how to do that. See if a-anyone was around... By using the ground, and their steps..." She probably sounded like a crazy person. But it was true. That was basically how it worked.

Nana not liking the company of strangers indeed made her a bit uncomfortable. It was clear about that. Which is why she tried to avoid it at all costs! She didn't want to get that weird feeling. Where she couldn't say what was really on her mind. Where she just talked all quiet, even if she didn't want to. It was almost like a impulse. She didn't know how she could fix it. No one probably new. And she couldn't ask her parents! Or they would know she was sneaking away from their sight. Maybe she'd ask when she was older...

Her name did have a meaning indeed. It was actually a name of a star. But she didn't know that. She never even thought about asking her parents. "Thank you... But I have n-no idea if it means anything." She said looking back to him. Bombarded with more questions, she suddenly realized something... "You know, I don't know much about them either..." She let out a soft giggle. She just couldn't help but love something so beautiful.

His wings fluttered with excitement at her words, if she was taught, maybe he could be taught as well? But as soon as that thought crossed his mind, he stopped it as soon as it occurred; the filly in front of him would not teach him the skill that is only in her family, it would be like his mother passing on their family secrets to the first Soquili to ask for it. Well, that was not a good example since Isabliss’ family did not have any secrets, or Wystan would definitely have discovered them by now.

“That is really fascinating and amazing that you have that type of skill. Perhaps I could teach myself that skill after a few years…since I don’t think that it is right to ask you about your family secrets. And I wouldn’t be able to offer you a trade for your secret for one of mine, since I don’t have any secrets… well, I don’t think I do,” he pauses for a second, “wait… I do have something to offer for the trade of skills if you wish to participate, but if you don’t I’ll understand.” Wystan smiled at the filly, he did not care if he learned the skill of listening to the ground, as long as the filly would stay and chat he would be happy.

Wystan knew that he talked too much and that was due to the fact that he asked so many questions and then went into a bigger explanation for his answers than what is the necessary reply. He could not help himself, he knew when to be quiet and when not to be, but in many cases he just could not hold himself back from asking questions and discovering the truth.

“You don’t? I am sure it means something very elegant and special to those who named you.” He was surprised that she did not know that much about them, “What do you know about them?” The stars above glittered in the night sky, a cluster of them casting a path of light in the sky.
