Detailed Biography:
Takeshi was born to two farmers in the water country. The farmers didn't have the benefit of living in or near the Mist village, so they were poor and defenseless. When he was around 5 or 6, his home was raided by ninjas from an enemy village. Their valuable posessions were stolen, and the ninjas crippled his parents because they thought that doing that would make them die a slow, agonizing death.
Unfortunately for that plan, they didn't see Takeshi. Takeshi was out playing behind the house. He heard lots of crashing and screaming, so he checked through a window and saw the ninjas. So he just stayed low so that they wouldn't find him. Yes, it was cowardly. But it saved his family in the end. Once the ninjas were gone, he went in and checked on his parents' injuries. He managed to create makeshift splints for them, so that their legs would heal. They didn't have a doctor though, so it would take a long time.
So he did all of the work around the farm, which strengthened him slowly. It also made him more humble, for he understood that times were hard and that different people acted different ways because of their past. That's why he decided to forgive those ninjas for attacking his village.
Eventually, his parents' legs healed. Well they healed enough for them to do farmwork. But they would never quite walk the same again. As soon as he knew that his parents were fine though, he asked them something. "Hey Mom, Dad. I...want to become a ninja." He was about 14 at that time. His parents at first disapproved, but in the end they knew that it would be the best for their son. So they sat down to talk with him. "...Alright son. You can go off to become a ninja." His parents paused for a few seconds. "...But, you must abandon your last name, or else we may be targeted again."
Takeshi was shocked by what they were asking. Abandoning his last name, to him, was the same as not being related anymore. He just sighed, and nodded once. His urge to become a ninja had been much greater than his feelings of sadness about changing his last name. He looked at his parents for a few minutes, and then grinned. "Fine then. From here on, I'll be Takeshi Ryujiin."
