It was all a blur to the tan colored lioness. She couldn't remember where it had all started, but now she sat with two shakes held in her protective paws. She felt scared, wondering what would happen if the male left her to cope alone. "Lavi...please come here..." Her tail thudded on the ground softly as fear rose like a knot in her chest. She'd refuse to return home mate-less and with two babies. Her family would help, but she couldn't do that to them. She needed to find a way to stay with Lavi, though he seemed to want to jump ship. "You can't leave...not now..."

He'd been sitting, staring off into space at the edge of the beach, his tail limp and his ears down. He didn't know what he was gonna do. A tad too much fermented berry juice and he'd done something that he couldn't undo. It wasn't fun and games this time. No, this time he'd gotten a girl pregnant and now there were smoothies involved. Children. He shivered. s**t man. I'm not getting out of this one.
"What Amber?" He answered sharply without turning when she addressed him. "What I've done can't be undone. You're a real pretty little doll but I don't know what I was thinking. What do you expect me to do?"

The sharpness in his voice made her ears lower and her tail move closer to her paws. Tears had formed in her different colored eyes so her voice came across as shaky now. "I...I'm scared...I can't do this alone..." Her wings moved tighter to her sides in an attempt to give herself and her shakes comfort of some sort. Without really thinking about it she nosed them, nuzzling them. She was scared out of her mind, but they were her babies and she would love them.

He turned on her then, his wings flaring out wide and his tail lifting high. This time he practically shouted at her. "And you think I'm not?! This." he indicated her and the smoothies with a paw. ",was no what I had in my mind for my life." He crumbled then, into a little ball on the ground, his paws over his ears. "I'm scared out of my mind!" He pulled his paws off his ears and looked at her, more softly this time "s**t hun. I'm so sorry I can't tell you." He turned his head away to look off into space again, still in a tight ball. "But I can't be what you want. What you need. Tying me down would not be good for either of us. I'd be a terrible mate...it don't help that you're so pretty either. It makes me almost want to be what you need....but...I...I...I can't." He closed his eyes then and felt a tear worm it's way out. A tear of hurt, shame, and frustration.

When he faced her with his wings out she lowered herself to the ground, one paw over her eyes now while the other held the shakes close to her. She felt her body shake as she cried, the wetness on her cheeks. She had trouble speaking but managed a reply none the less, though her paw stayed over her eyes as tears slipped to the ground. "All I want is to not be alone...If you leave me now..." The thought of trying to protect the shakes as they grew by herself while trying to hunt food made her curls up around them, wanting to crawl into a hole. "...I love these two....so I am terrified...that I would let them down...I'm not...I'm just not strong enough...Not alone..."

Her tone brought him back and made him look at her, really look at her. She looked so scared and desolate. She was so sure he'd leave her and make her take care of those two alone. He shook himself and brought something out from down deep. Honor and duty. He didn't know he had any until that very moment. He knew that, like it or not, he was responsible here. It scared the hell out of him because he'd never never been responsible for anything before. But he'd stand by her. He would. Duty was different than love but as good as she'd get in this instance. "Amber," he said gently to make her look up at him, "they're mine too. And I'll help you raise them. They will know me as father and I will be there for you." He got up and walked forward to nuzzle her and smoothies. "Please believe me?"

When he spoke her name she moved her paw to look at him, tears still rolling down her cheeks. Slight shock went through her, but more than anything else she felt an overwhelming feeling of relief and hope. Feeling the nuzzle she returned it, then moved so he could hold one of the shakes. "I...I believe you Lavi...If we work together...we'll be wonderful parents..." She looked at their shakes, managing a soft smile as fear began leaving her. "They'll be beautiful...I just know it..."

She was much stronger than she appeared, at least that's what he thought because she'd endured his raging and then she made him sigh at her whimsy. "I don't think I much care about beauty. I think I'd prefer them healthy and smart." He touched the blue one. It was a color so like his own he could not deny linage. "Yes. I will take care of you. All of you." He smiled at Amber, she really was a pretty little thing. He only wished he could love her.

~~Time Skip~~ The day had finally come when the two little shakes grew into two bundles of whimpering fur. Amber could feel pride in her heart and over-flowing joy at the very sight of the two as they waddled around, batting and gnawing on whatever they could reach. Sure it tended to be her or Lavi, but their tiny little teeth really only tickled her, so she would gently ruffle the fur on their heads. When the boy that most resembled her finally looked at her she took bits from her cloth and made him something similar to hers, wrapping it around his little leg. "There..." She then proceeded to give him a bath, starting with the top of his head.Aridai sniffed at the cloth his Mother had tied around his leg, nibbling on it a little in curiousity. The feeling of her tongue working at cleaning him made him squirm in protest though. Almost in a comical way he reached for his Father in an attempt to escape the relentless tongue. Tyler had caught his eldest daughter's scent about a day ago and had been following it desperatly. She'd simply left without a word, so of course her Dad would get very worried. He had made sure that for now nobody else came with him in case Amber was distraught or wished to be left alone. This had happened before, but never for so long. As his legs got tired he took to the air, golden wings glinting in the sun. A cave not too far off made him land once more though when her scent became very strong. But...she wasn't alone. Several strange scents reached his nose and panic rose in his chest. Quickly he hurried in, looking around frantically. "Amber!! Where are you?? Are you ok?!"

Lavi had been curled around the son that that carried his color but seemed to have strange markings, his own fur was muted so he could not tell where the markings had come but mostly assumed they made his son unique, when he caught the scent of stranger and jumped to his feet. He spread his wings and created a shield between his children and their mother then growled low and deep, threateningly. "Who comes? This is my family. I will protect them with my life."
Cody yelped and scampered toward his mother. Daddy was scary like this and mommy was warm and safe. He watched with his eyes wide as daddy puffed himself up and got bigger, or so it seemed.

Amber caught the familiar scent about the same time Lavi got up and made himself a barrier. Before she could open her mouth her sons rushed into her for comfort. Her motherly instincts took presidence and so she draped her wings around them, cooing to them softly while her paws stroked their heads gently. If it was who she thought it was, she didn't want to face a lecture anyway. Though Tyler never had lectured her. All she cared about in that instance was her babies.
Aridai mewed, turning and burrying himself against his Mama's warmth, nuzzling his brother. He liked how strong Daddy looked when he got protective like this, but sensed a stranger and he didn't like those...
The moment Tyler saw the male put himself between him and his daughter he back-pedled until his metal braces forced him to move back onto his rump. In this position he looked a tad pathetic, but he just stayed there not wanting to anger the big male. He knew he wasn't capable of fighting one so much stronger than himself. "I am Tyler...I mean no harm and...do I really look like I could do anything?" He then chuckled to himself.

Lavi's pose relaxed slightly when he saw the male was smaller then he and then he lowered his wings and tucked them in completely when the other backed onto his rump. "I still don't know who you are or why you are in our cave, but I know you cannot hurt me." He turned his head to Amber then and spoke to her. "Now that I've smelled him, he has a slight smell of you. Who is this? You're cousin? Or something?"
Cody relaxed when his daddy relaxed and cuddled into mom them closed his eyes for a nap. He completely ignored the newcomer.

"Dad!!" Amber would've gone to her fallen Father, but stayed on her side for the little boys sake. "He is my Father, Tyler. I got this cloth on my leg from a part of his shirt, see?" She held that leg up for a moment to let him see before wrapping it around their sons. "He has trouble walking, I'd go to him but..." Looks down at the two fuzzy bodies.
Aridai quickly nodded off along with his brother, until his Mama shouted. That made him jump and whimper. But when he spotted the shirt the stranger had on, then looked from his Mama's arm cloth to his, he waddled to his Daddy's legs, watching the stranger curiously, head tilted.
"No no, don't worry I've got it." He smiled that big sweet smile and moved to all fours, shaking himself to get anything off his shorts. "This must look odd, but I am her Father. You see, I stopped growing because I have a disease. The same disease that robbed me of most of the function to my hind legs. She and I, well the whole family just tend to forget." He looked to Lavi once he got himself steadied, then moved closer. "May I come in? I see little ones...."

Lavi tried to hide his surprise? Your father? He was truly befuddled until Tyler began to explain. "An illness? Oh. I'm terribly sorry then! Umm...yeah." He said lamely then he looked down at the tiny Ari that was now beside his leg. "I've just been informed that he is your grandpa. What do you think about that little son?" He looked back up at Tyler then. "If she says your safe then you must be. You can come meet my boys." He grinned brightly and the pride he now felt for his boys showed well. "This one," He looked down near his leg again. ",is Airidai and the one with Amber that is colored like me is Cody and I am Lavi. Forgive me for being so rude. I did not know you."
Cody peeked open one of his eyes when daddy said 'grandpa'. What was that? Maybe it was the strange lion he was ignoring.
